Hello everyone I own some noname chinese Android stick, which has Allwinner A20 CPU. Unfortunately, long time ago seller cheated me and device has 512 MB ram instead of 1GB (4 gigabit chips..). It has some "Android" firmware (which shows 1GB), but I cannot find nor backup, neither upgrade firmware. Not a big deal, since device not in active use. I tried Armbian Cubeiboard2 and pcDuino3 builds - everything working like a charm, desktop starts, so I want to run sata-nand install for Armbian for legacy kernel - /dev/nand is here, and I can even dump a "backup" of NAND to have it "just in case". Some help is really appreciated (some questio…

Environment: Armbian on an Odroid-HC2 (Homecloud 2) which uses the odroid-xu4 firmware. Reproduction: After initial installation on the welcome banner "RX today:" always shows a nice value. Install and run some docker containers. This changes /sys/class/net/ . AFAIK it adds so called "virtual network interfaces". From then on the Armbian welcome screen displays like this: Error: Interface "veth•••••••" not found in database. Note: • redacted by me. Hi, thanks to this tutorial: I was able to add optical S/PDIF module to my orange pi zero plus 2 h3 - It works But I noticed the the every time when a sound is played it causes the SPDIF output on the OPI to initialise (switch on the red light) which takes about 1-2 seconds, after the sound has finished the SPDIF output goes back to sleep (switch off the red light). As a result on every new audio that is played the first 1-2 second is lost off This is not a problem if I'm listening radio but in case of quick phrases spoken by the synthesizer(my case) this is a real problem. Is there any way to keep S/PDIF …

Maybe someone will be interested in it. https://bbs.stationpc.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=343&extra=page%3D1%26filter%3Dauthor%26orderby%3Dlastpost The uniqueness of this model is in the mechanism of a very simple installation of a standard SATA SSD drive. p.s. According to information from one client who uses this equipment in serious industrial operation - P2 worked without problems for many days with a full load (24\7) in harsh conditions without failures and failures, at the same time, they tried to use R4S, which froze and turned off after 20 hours.

First of all, I'm a complete novice to Armbian so my apologies if any of the following isn't up to the standard of this board. I've just installed Armbian 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi on a Banana Pi. The same computer was previously running a domain controller under Bananian just fine. Installing Samba on Armbian works fine: r oot@Linux08:~# apt-get install samba attr Installing the packets to operate Samab as a DC also works fine: root@Linux08:~# apt-get install winbind libpam-winbind libnss-winbind libpam-krb5 krb5-config krb5-user However, attempting to provision a new Active Dirctory d…

I see a lot of tutorials online and they all have seems to have different ways of going about making a share and it seems most of them are logged into a user as opposed to root. I'm logged in to root through ssh so that might the the cause of many of my issues I believe. I did a simple apt install samba and it seems to be running fine. I see other tutorials recommending you install "smbclient" and "cifs-utils", is that necessary? Some of the tutorials also say to add user groups and to add settings to the firewall. I'm just using 1 user and don't have any firewalls installed, unless armbian comes with one by default. I think my my service is running fine thoug…

Hello, I am using armbian now for some time as a smb server on my Orange Pi 3. It's working but I am not really happy with the performance. I only get write speeds up to 30-40 MB/s. On netdata I saw that the cpu utilization is very unstable. The writing speed on the hdd is also not constant and oscillating like the cpu utilization. Does anybody have a clue why I have this oscillating cpu utilization and the low samba performance? Are there any tweaks to improve the performance? Short infos about the used system newest armbian version all devices connected over Gigabit LAN 2,5" USB 3.0 HDD connected on…

I have a Orange PI PC that I"m setting up as my file server with samba. I am using a hard drive with a SATA to USB adapter for my storage device. I've read and tried many HOW-TOs and none of them seem to get it working properly. Even though, they all say it is easy and it looks easy. I am able to see the shared folder over the network but Windows says that I don't have permissions to access it. One idea that I've had is that I'm not accessing the share folder through the config file. However I'm not sure how to properly access my HDD. Right now I am using the path that you would get from opening the disk on the desktop. Something l…

Hello, I've been using the Banana Pi M2 Ultra for 2 years now as a mini 24/7 server with NAS and wireguard functionality etc. I started with a Crucial MX500 1TB SSD connected with the SATA interface and formatted as ext4, but not as OS partition, just for data. A few months ago the ssd occasionally disappeared and I had to restart / poweroff the device and after a restart everything was OK. But not the last time - after mounting the ssd I was shown an blank, empty ssd with no files. Testdisk shows all folders from the "root" folder of the partition, but nothing else, extundelete could also no help. So first question is: How can…

Hello, I'm looking to replace my x86 micro tower with a SBC, to mainly use it as a NAS and media player. On the hardware side, I would like to have a native SATA port (for the NAS hard disk), HDMI output and H.265 decoding (media player), at least 4GB of RAM (to be somewhat future-proof). Bluetooth is a plus to play some retro games Not sure about the OS storage: SD card, eMMC, an hard disk on another SATA port? At the moment I found two boards: the Radxa Rock 3A (with its DIY SATA over USB cable) and Odroid HC4. Both are supported by Armbian, but maybe there is a more recent board that I didn't find? Thanks.

I am using armbian on banana pi m2 zero with screen 1920x360. We had a power outage the other day and though I have UPS coverage on all my computers, TV's, switches, router and Arm boards I forgot to shut down the ARM boards gracefully before shutting off the UPS that protects them. Later, all my PI's booted back up just fine but my Le Potato is not responding. I verified that the SD card still shows a Linux system but am not sure what all to look at to repair boot problems. I tested the Le Potato with another fresh Armbian install and it booted up just fine so the hardware is not an issue. I am lamenting not having made a backup of the card before this happened but was still tweaking stuff and didn't think about it (next time I…

I've installed Armbian on my brand new Odroid N2. I realise it still is WIP, but almost everything works great. There is just one issue, which prevents me from setting it up the way I want. I use my eMMC card to boot the system. I've also added a larger A1 SD card for application data. However, after a reboot the SD card isn't recognized. There isn't even a message about it in dmesg log. But when, after booting, I remove the SD card and insert it, all of the sudden it's detected and mounted. Does anyone know how I kan make this happen at boot, so I don't need to physically access the device in order to use it after a reboot?

I have 2 32GB cards, one does 40/20MB/s the other 80/10MB/s, +-, as measured. Both class 10. I understand there are some limits on the SD bus, thus you can not use max speed a card may eventually provide. So my question, which one would be preferred ti be be used? 40/20 or 80/10. Thanks.

EDIT: This is NOT about a (hidden) backdoor but just a local privileges escalation that affects one single 3.4 kernel variant for 2 Allwinner SoCs. In case you came here through lurid headlines please read this comment here first and help stop spreading further BS like "all Allwinner devices contain a hidden backdoor" -- the code has been found since Allwinner could be convinced to open their Github repos in the past so everyone is able to audit their Android kernel source! It has been brought to our attention two days ago on 2016-04-30 in linux-sunxi IRC that Allwinner's 3.4 legacy kernel for H3/A83T/H8 contains a nasty local privileges escalation. Any process …

As of 25 April, one year after the release of Debian 8, alias "Jessie", and nearly three years after the release of Debian 7, alias "Wheezy", regular security support for Wheezy comes to an end. The Debian Long Term Support (LTS) Team will take over security support. https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160425 Important: Wheezy-LTS only supports i386 and amd64. The support for armel and armhf is waiting for confirmation from all related Debian Teams. Users of other architectures are encouraged to upgrade to Debian 8 ("Jessie").

I like armbian-debian but don't like that i can only do the checksum for the 'img.xz' and not the actual image. Once i extract the .img from the img.xz, i don't see how i can check the actual .img since there is no checksum for it; even though it is very difficult for malware to get on the .img, it is possible. I realize that if the .img.xz's checksum is good, then the .img image is good. But once I expose the .img to my computer, if there is malware unknowingly present, then the .img could become infected and I have no way to check it. My orangepiplus2e is 32-bit. Thanks

Getting into buildroot and yocto seems a bit too much for me to get an A+B style update possibility. I would like to stick with the quality images provided by Armbian. The following applies to a NanoPi-NEO3 others SBC might have different partition layouts. From what I understood is that uboot looks for /boot in /dev/mmcblk0p1 reads the boot.cmd/scr and armbianEnv.txt and then boots the kernel accordingly. The armbianEnv.txt seems to point the kernel to the root partition using the rootdev directive. If /dev/mmcblk0p1 would now only hold /boot would it be possible to point to a different partition for the rootfs using armbianEnv.txt? …

Hello, Today I found that the "serial-getty@ttyS0.service" service restarts every minute. It says "serial-getty@ttyS0.service: Succeeded." in the syslog/journal and then starts again, so it exited with code 0. The restart counter is already at 3085, so it's been like that for 2 days. No output is logged from the service itself. So I looked up its start command and ran it interactively. Again, with no output, after a minute, it returned with code 0. So I straced that thing and saw that it did lots of things, then print "Password:" somewhere, wait a while and then print "Login timed out after 60 second" and exit with code 0. strace /sbin/a…

I wrote a shell script, which executes the MRAA program. Shell script, in its turn, is called by a service on a start-up. On my Orange Pi Zero I run Armbian Buster and the only software running is Shairport. Unfortunately I used to have a crackling noise every 20-40 secund which was solved after entering root@orangepizero:~# renice -n -19 -u shairport-sync 110 (user ID) old priority 0, new priority -19 So far so good - but after a reboot the prio is again 0. So I tried to use nice nice -19 shairport-sync but after a reboot the prio was again 0 How can I set the priority of all process run by the user (-u) “shairport-sync” to -19 when they start?

Hello I need to increase the size of the CMA on my armbian set up. But I've not found a way to do it. Is there a kernel command line option I need to pass to increase the CMA size, or is this done in the kernel configuration before building? Thanks in advance Andrew

In the notes for the current Buster download, the mac assigned on first boot is supposed to be recorded in the /boot/uEnv.txt. However no such file is in the /boot directory. Do I need to create this file, and make the appropriate entry myself, or is the assigned address stored else where? Thanks for your time. William.

I'm using the image Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.7z. My NetworkManager version is 1.6.2-3. Certain NetworkManager options like wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=yes or wifi.cloned-mac-address=random for NetworkManager results in not being able to connect to a wireless Access Point anymore via nmtui. On the other hand, manually spoofing the MAC address via ip, ifconfig and macchanger and using nmtui afterwards works in all three cases.

Hello everyone, I have a nanopi r2s running the latest minimal focal image, and I'm having trouble with the network configuration. Context: I have an intranet connected to the LAN port (lan0), and my home network connected to the WAN port (eth0). The intranet does not connect to the internet, and both networks have functional DHCP servers on different IP ranges. For some reason the system thinks it should try to access the internet via my intranet, which is definitely not going to work. Suppose the intranet is 10.0.0.0/24, how can I tell the system to use this interface if and only if I'm accessing addresses that falls under this address …

Hey guys, brand new to linux so sorry for obvious/easy question being obvious/easy I wanted to set up Pi Hole on my new Renegade, but I cannot figure out how to make/find a static ip address. I have found the IPv4 settings, tried to create an ip address in there, but I don't think it worked. Hello, I've started a project where I'd like to setup a Bananapi M5 with two wifi adapters to use in hotel room for example. So one wifi adapter will connect to the hotel wifi, and the other will be in access point mode with dhcp for my devices to connect to. I think the proper terminology is AP-STA. So I have purchased one Comfast CF-953AX which uses the mt7921au chipset (0e8d:7961) to test in access point mode as it supports this: Supported interface modes: * managed * AP * AP/VLAN * monitor * P2P-client * P2P-GO The issue I have come across is the hostapd fails to start: nl80211: Failed to start radar dete…

Hi, I run a cubietruck appliance, booting by sd-card->sata (stretch). For availability reasons, I have to build up a spare part machine for quick exchange procedure if hardware/ software will crash. Thus I take a second cubietruck and copy both sd-card and ssd to second ones as a first step. How to tweak the copies to get it up and running? I am not sure about understanding the boot procedure. I assume, I have to change the UUID´s in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and in fstab to the second ssd/sda1. I tried this in the past, but didn´t succeed. Now I want to give it another try. Could someone give advice, if I am right with the UUID issue …

Hi, I need to help for understandable how set right clock hierarchy for i2s bus with external master-clock signal. This mode supported rockchip processors (RK3328, RK3399) but there are very small information how it can do. Today we have out of box in armbian for Nanopi Neo3 working I2S with master-clock from PLL, but I want change master-clock source from PLL to external signal. In souce and clock debugfs I find that I2S1 ("i2s1_pre") can be clocked from 4 sources: clk_i2s1_div, clk_i2s1_frac, clkin_i2s1, xin12m. By default parent for i2s1_pre set to clk_i2s1_div, which have parent cpll. Hence we must change parent for i2s1_pre to clkin_i2s1, but clock clki…

Hi everyone! I'm software developer but have no (or little) clue about electronics & electricity, and would like to dive into the SBC world. I still don't have a goal other than have fun and support this community during my free time. I probably need to buy some devices (my budget is limited): A voltmeter A soldering station. Which filler material is more appopriate? An USB-to-TTL adapter to debug the serial output. Specs? Last but not least: an SBC! Which one is good but currently lacks support from this community? Something else? Thank you for your advices!

I'm working on a project that utilises AI, GPS, Bluetooth... and i can't decide whether i should choose OPi or RPi. I've been researching for the past couple of days and I'm amazed at what the OPi can do, it's crazy for it's price. But my concern is how little support and community there is out there, idk if it's worth the risk. So if any one worked with it can you please tell me what kind of difficulties have you faced and how similar is it to working with the raspberry?

Hi! I've been running two sbc (Odroid HC2) for about 1,5 years. I recently realised that the os it is running on is outdated (Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.14.150-odroidxu4). There is a nextcloud instance running on it and I really (!) like the stability of my setup. So far, I've had one (1) crash in 1,5 years on a system that is running 24/7, maybe heat related in the hot summer. Reboot automatically once a week, nightly off-site backup, login via ssh-keys. So my question is...: Shall I update and if yes shall I do this from a fresh install or is there a built-in way? Thanks!

Hello I tried to shrink my sdcard (64gb, 17gb in use) and copy it to a 32gb card. I found a tutorial, but it don't work I fownloaded gparted and create a bootable device. The instruction 1.resize2fs /dev/sda1 [new size of the partition] in my case the original card is sdc1 2. Copy the shrinked device to the new device dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb In my case dd if=/dev/sdc of=/dev/mmcblk0 Is it really correct to use it without the "1" ? Sda, not sda1? However It didn't work.... Gparted gui shows me, that the original sd card has the original size 58.24gb. But I shrinked it to 27gb..... wi…

Hello forumees. I am running as root on an OrangePI Zero+ which uses a H2 processor running a CL version of arrmbian 3.4.113 which works fine. Below is the CL dialog of my attempts to install the module. ```````````````` root@gpsC…

EDIT: I tried to plug it directly in router and speed is OK now. Weird, but it's fine now. Please close this topic. Hi everyone, I have a Helios4 NAS on which I have installed Armbian 5.85. I used the Armbian-Config to install OMV 4.1.23-1 (Arrakis). Hi, I recently bought an Odroid HC1 and installed Debian 8 on it. I am being quite happy so far with the installation, however this softy installer is very frustrating. I tried to install Syncthing, which failed to start, then now Webmin, hoping to be of "smaller scale", but no lack. It repeatedly fails to do something, displaying the errors behind the curses window, so I had to stop it with Ctrl-C. Then I got back to the menu and after quit, a cleared screen. Brilliant. Are there logs stored somewhere, at least? I checked /var/log/, but got no further. Or how I am supposed to go through failing installations? Thank you,

Hi, I've read this post but it's two years old. What I need is a SBC (in order to save some energy costs, otherwise have to go to x86) that could be used as a small SOHO firewall and router and also small file and backup server. I'd need gigabit ethernet (preferably with dedicated controller), at least one, could buy a dongle to have another port. A SATA interface would be nice, otherwise USB 3 is needed. Probably at least two USB 3, one for the ethernet dongle, another for the SATA disk. UASP support would be great. The lower the cost and the more stable the best. What do you recommend?

Hey Igor, I noticed on another thread that you're running the ClearFog Pro on a 4.12 kernel; What did you do to get the mv88e6xxx working? Every build against mainline I do for either 4.4.96 or 4.13.11 ends up with a port that doesn't properly detect link status (up or down) and doesn't receive any traffic.
