  2. Hi all, thanks in advance for taking the time to read this topic. I'm working with the Banana Pi P2-zero board, on which I successfully installed the armbian buster image (on SD card) from here: https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2-zero/ Note that the image is for M2-zero, not P2 zero... which by the way has pretty much the same hardware, and things work fine on SD card. But then I needed to install the whole system on the on board eMMC. Such eMMC was not visible at first, so I edited the /boot/dtb/sun8i-h2-plus-bananapi-m2-zero.dts file to include mmc2 (mmc@1c11000) and compiled it as dtb. After this, I was able to see the…

Sorry if this in the wrong spot. I need a bit of help here, I once or twice updated the kernel on the Rock64 from older versions but I've always ran into an issue where it just wouldn't boot anymore and needed to be re-flashed. I run a always up server that has to have little to no downtime and I wish to avoid having to re-flash again. So I want to know if its safe or not to upgrade to 4.4.174 from 4.4.167 I can provide more info if needed. Thanks

  4. Guys i have an orange pi zero 3 with 4GB RAM running a tiny proxmox 8.3.2 and everything was ok, i used the ./compile.sh command in /build to create a custom kernel with KVM enabled to get this to work a few months ago, now i have updated the system but the kernel installed has no support for KVM, obviously i want to use the standard procedure to recompile the kernel re-enabling the KVM but i dont know how, i know there is a way to pass commands to ./compile.sh but from what i have seen i dont know where or how to pass to the program the fact that i want KVM support enabled, i have seen things like this: apt -y install git git clone https://github.com/armbia…

  8. So I had noticed the current stable version had advanced, I'm just curious if there is any big reasons to go through upgrading? I managed to bumbleF my way through getting Jessie to Stretch months and months ago, long enough to forget most of the process. I kind of halfheartedly tried last night and had quite a few issues (mostly regarding iptables, a sticky DHCP setting, PiHole breaking, among others), restored an SD image I had from April and then update/upgrade through apt to get all the software back to where it was, its working fine again. I'm only using it for some basic stuff limited to PiHole, OpenVPN, miniDLNA, MJPEG stream for my 3d prin…

We have all seen the recent release announcement of Armbian 21.08 which now includes a beta release of Debian 11 (Bullseye). I have a RockPro64 (Rockchip 3399) that is currently running Debian 10 (Buster) that I would like to upgrade, so that it gets the latest packages from Debian and continues to receive security patches. I am tempted to just upgrade it by editing /etc/apt/sources.list and pulling the latest packages (the debian way), but I wondered if there is a safer way to perform the upgrade. Has anyone else upgraded a Debian based Armbain system that way. Are there any issues to watch out for? What customisations are there in Arm…

  10. Hey, I'm currently using Debian Wheezy Armbian and think on Upgrading to Jessie. This should be no problem using the Upgrade script as in documentation. Now I've seen that also Ubuntu Trusty ist available. Is there an upgrade from Debian Wheezy to Ubuntu Trusty possible? Does it have any consequences? Or should I stay within Debian? And as additional question: I currently backup the following directories: /etc /root /home /var/backups /var/lib /var/local /var/opt /var/mail /srv /opt /usr/local Is this enough? Or how should I backup before such a upgrade procedure? Thank you for your infos. Ingo

  11. Hi, I've already installed Armbian once before onto the SD card of my Rock PI S (Non-flash version). Before upgrading to Focal, I plugged it into my serial receiver in order to verify that I got the procedures correct so when I upgrade I'd get a console. I was glad I did that as I had forgotten I couldn't get screen(1) to work with my serial device as it can't send and receive data at the 1.5Mbs. I ended up using minicom(1). I downloaded the Focal Edge version of Armbian, verified the data with the ASC key, and wrote it to the Micro-SD card. I then booted it and the blue LED started blinking indicating an alive and working kernel. But I got no data over the…

Hi folks, I'm running armbian on a Banana Pi 1st generation, so far no probs. Indeed it runs very stable. The armbian is a debian jessie. Is it possible or recommended to update to stretch via the official debian upgrade path ? The armbian is fully updated Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.36 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.16-sunxi I'm running an nginx php stack on the BaPi. But what about stretch ? Can I do a dist-upgrade ? Sorry if this has already been discussed. Thanks in advance for replies :-)

  14. armbian-config has a way to update the kernel within a major version but can one upgrade from 5.15 to 6.1 (current/edge). I assume if not then I have to build my own image? What I am after is jammy or bullseye with 6.1 kernel to support some hardware not supported in 5.15. I know the rolling releases (Lunar/Sid) have this kernel but I need a LTS release with 6.1.

  22. Hello, I have an Odroid N2+ on Armbian 23.02 Bullseye. I wish to upgrade to Bookworm. Initially I expected to do the upgrade after the update to Armbian 23.05 via apt but I tend to think we will have directly 23.08 without 23.05 I won't ask for the date when we will have 23.05 but has someone upgraded to Bookworm with Armbian 23.05? I know this kind of upgrade is not officially supported but as I made it from Buster to Bullseye I have the same project for Bookworm. But I am not sure Bookworm and Armbian 23.05 are really compatible.

Hello, I am running a Cubietruck with Armbian 21.08 Buster. I wonder if this can be upgraded to 22.02. The usual apt update apt upgrade apt dist-upgrade does not install any new packages. However I see e.g. the deb files for the kernel are existing in http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/armbian-apt/pool/main/l/linux-5.15.25-sunxi/ and also http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/armbian-apt/dists/buster/main/binary-armhf/Packages contains the new packages. The kernel is NOT set to freeze in armbian-config. Also that tool does not offer the new 20.02 packages. I seem to overlook something here. What prevents the installation (my apt skill are obviously limited...). …

  29. Hello, I have installed the Armbian image for Rock Pi S (https://www.armbian.com/rockpi-s/) released 19th of October 2022 on my Rock Pi S and it boots fine. However, if I update the linux kernel (using apt-get install linux-dtb-edge-rockchip64 linux-image-edge-rockchip64) this breaks the image and it will be stuck on starting kernel the next time I reboot. These packages are not installed automatically, but are listed as kept back. However, since they break the system they should maybe not be possible to install.

Hi there, I don't know yet much about the USB gadget framework, but was wondering it I could use it to make an Orange Pi Zero or One seen as a video sink by the host computer. I know the framework should allow the board to be seen as an audio source, a video source, a Midi device and other things, but could it be seen as a video consumer of some sort ? My goal would be to grab the host's webcam content, encode and stream it on the SBC so that the host's CPU still has resource for other tasks. Does it make sense ? Thanks.

  46. There are already several boards with the small SPI flash installed. This is perfect for the u-boot storage. Than the board starts from this SPI flash and looks for the /boot folder on SD card and USB storage. I've moved the system from the SD to USB HDD included the /boot folder and removed the SD card. When I power-on the board, the HDD starts and everything works fine. But when rebooted, the HDD is suspended at the shutdown end and the u-boot doesn't wait until it starts again and the booting fails as "No USB storage found". Is there any way how to disable the HDD suspend in the system? I was looking around how to disable this function somehow in the HDD itself ( Maxto…

I've discovered some magic moment during the startup process, when I can attach keyboard and system goes further. In most of moments the boot process stops, as soon as I'm attaching the keyboard. Lines are scrolled too fast to let me note what moment is "successful". Also I've noticed that the chip is very hot, when the keyboard is attached. It's much colder when keyboard is detached. Another small issue is that functional keys don't work. Though Ctrl/Alt and other similar keys do. …

At the same point, after I have given permission in the settings, the microphone was not working due to not giving it, then the https://mictests.net is checking the mic from the site and see if…

After starting the machine and the OS it does not work, but when connected to a LAN it is detected as a USB device. If you take it out and put it back in after the operating system starts, everything starts working. What is the problem? How to automate?

  99. Hello I'm just wondering that there are two release files in /etc and why they have different VERSION values. In armbian-image-release file, VERSION is 20.08.1 But it is 21.08.8 in armbian-relase file. armbian-config and welcome massages also show version as 21.08.8 So I think 21.08.8 is correct one, but then why armbian-image-release has incorrect version value? Is it a bug? Or am I missing something? Please help me. Thank you.
