While using ubuntu1604-kernel4.4-VAAPLI.img I took downloaded from the server, I came across the following problem. While trying to develop device drivers for kernel space, I realized we dont have any linux headers in the said system. I have tried looking up for the same at Rockchip's github as well as wiki site, but could not find one. Can anyone point me to the correct linux headers ? I am using RK3288 development board, and current my version using "uname -r" is "4.4.55+"

Hello Everybody: I'm having problems to create and save a new partition to eMMC on BPI M2Ultra board. As you can see on the attachd image below, the fdisk -l command, list the mmcblk1 with the right size (7.3 GB), them, i start creating a new partition (n command) and writing the partition table (w command), but once created the new partition never gets to the disk, and a new fdisk -l command shows the disk like it was before. Of course, whithout a partition i can not format the eMMC and can not use nand-sata-install. This doesn't happen with bananapi original images as there was no issue to create the partition and save it to the disk …

Hi all. I am new in both OrangePi hardware and Armbian OS. I bought Orange Pi Zero 512 MB. I aim to develop a stand-alone device using this board. I am too confused with my readings. Do you have any idea for the following run rules together on the same board? (1) When I connect via serial (USB), it runs bash. It will ask user name and password. I can write a program, compile it, update the OS, and change settings. <This part is okay.> I want to use a GUI for this part. (2) When I supply 5-Volt power via extension pins, it runs stand-alone. It will not ask for a username and a password. It starts with an application developed in either Python or C programming lan…

NanoPC-T4 only has 16GRAM, which is still a bit small for daily use. So I want to put u-boot on emmc or sd card, and install the system on nvme solid state drive. If I want to realize this function, can the armbian-config tool help me realize it quickly? Or do I need to set u-boot parameters and compile by myself, thus installing the system in nvme SSD?

Hey all, I've been using Allwinner boards for the last couple of years and Armbian+forums have made this a workable thing that I promote to my friends as being The Way To Go instead of being a big fat waste of time. Igor + Tkaiser (and anyone else forgive me if I didn't give you a shout) - You fucking rock. You really do; you've all provided amazing amounts of support for multiple kernels and userspaces and in the face of (at least) bullshit from the chip vendors, yet you are absolutely crucial to them being taken seriously. The work from Armbian has (for me) made the difference between BananaPi, OrangePi, etc all being an unusable washout of #ShitDidn'tW…

Contemplating whether or not I should pull the trigger and buy a new camera. Images were taken with an OV5640 camera attached to an orange pi PC. The first image is a good image, then after a few hours of use I start getting issues; reading images either times out and/or results in corrupted images. (Note: All images were rotated 90 degrees clockwise) https://imgur.com/a/LEyl1h9

Hi, I have a Banana Pi-R1. I want to use this device as a customized router. I need an operating system with a graphical user interface. I tested LXDE on Bananian but it wasn't successful.

I am not able to boot from armbian. First I downloaded image from (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2w/) later on I flashed the image with usbimager, then since this didn't work I did with balena etcher, (all those in linux). Balena etcher crashes at verification so then I did with my windows machine, first with usbimager and since it wasn't working I decided to decompress the .xz and do it with "rufus" Here i attach the images and as you guys can see it says "failed to mount /dev/mtdblock4". That terminal is pretty much useless, I can't even do reboot or poweroff. I just need armbia…

I am trying to install box86 and possibly box64 on my Orange pi zero 2w. I tried using armbian-gaming as well as following the instructions found here, and attempting to build box86 with both resulted in a gcc error unrecognized command line option '-marm' Upon attempting to build box64 with the instructions, I get a make error 2, and the topmost error is a ccl error unknown value 'loongarch64' for '-march' This seems to be cross-compilation errors, but IDK what steps to take to fix it. Thanks in advance! QuowLord

When using Armbian on my Orange Pi 5b, I can't select 120hz when the resolution is 4k but I can when it's set to 1080p. In other distros like Joshua Riek's Ubuntu and the official Orange Pi 5 Ubuntu release, 120 hz is selectable in 4k and works wonderfully. Is there something I'm missing somewhere? Is there something I can do to manually enable this somewhere? This distro checks all the boxes for me otherwise. Using 120 hz makes a massive difference when streaming games from my desktop to my living room TV using Sunshine/Moonlight.

Hello, I got recently an Odroid HC2 and installed Armbian (Buster 5.4.61) on it, OMV5 and I fixed IP. I configured it on the cable that I use on my desktop and connected my desktop on wifi. When I finished the configuration, I put HC2 closer to router on another cable and connect my desktop on the cable that HC2 was connected. If I try to connect to SBC through Putty on the desktop with it connected on cable and wifi, I connect normally. But if I disconnect of wifi, I can't connect to SBC, even on Putty or browser. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

So I'm seeing this up as a media device for my aunt who has nothing but an old crt TV. So I tried h3droid for user ease, but it's not near stable enough and crashes whenever anything is running any load on the cpu. Retro orange pi gives her a desktop and easy interface for watching movies/tv shows and playing old games. The problem I'm running into is I can't get any media file to play. I get sound but no visuals on Kodi and VLC I've tried converting the files from mkv to MP4, I've tried changing codecs h.264->h.265. I don't know what to do because she will never understand/use a command prompt so I wanted to hook her up with something easy.

I bought OPi 3 with 8 GB emmc, installed Armbian for OPi3, buster version, in the instructions I found a way to transfer the system to emmc - the nand-sata-install command. Then my actions: 1. Hi! I've just downloaded the Armbian_23.8.3_Orangepi3-lts_bookworm_current_6.1.53_cinnamon_desktop.img onto a 16GB SD card, plugged it to the Opi and started it up. Hi there, this might be a dumb question but I've done some searching and haven't gotten any closer to a solution, so, my apologies. I need to connect to my NanoPi M4 over the serial UART because I've made the eMMC unbootable, and I need to tell the board to boot from microSD so I can fix it. I've attempted to do this in both 'minicom' and 'screen' at 1500000 8N1 and the result is the same either way. I can see output from the NanoPi just fine, but when I attempt to send characters, it only displays a question mark imprinted on a square for each character, similar to what I'd expect if e.g. the character was not in my terminal font. It's not just a …

Hi! I have Orange Pi Pc Plus and Armbian based on Linux 5.8.11-trunk which successfully loads with any U-Boot taken from official Armbian distro. Hi, I setup a Radxa Zero 2 last week with Klipper, a 3d printing firmware. Over the past few months, I've transitioned my printer to using canbus. I'm finding the setup process slightly different with Armbian than it was on RpiOS, and I'd appreciate feedback or pointers that could help me better understand networking in Armbian. Suddenly after updating via armbian-config I lost ssh access and found the port closed. I rewrote the latest armbian version, stuck the sd card in, connected to ethernet cable via router and started up. The red and green lights were on as they should be and the internet cable was flashing green. Waited 3 minutes and checked the ports with nmap. And the port is closed again. Not responding to ping at all. I am still new to this topic. Please help and sorry if the translator translates crookedly.

I'm new to boards with linux and this is my very first attempt to install linux systems on board so there might be something that I cannot be aware of. I tried to install armbian v6.12 on the SD card but after I finish configureing the setup, the wifi doesn't work. Unfortunately I have no wires to connet to the board so now it is unable for me to connect the board to the internet. The problem is exactly the same as the post Wifi module AX210 - Orange Pi 5 Plus - Armbian Community Forums. I can see the network controller through `lspci -v`: And the dmesg shows that iwlwifi cannot find suitable version to use: And I indeed have the…

I recently bought a used OrangePi 5, when it arrived it had a working Ubuntu image on an SD card. I decided to format the card and put my own image of Armbian on the card using the Armbian imager. when installed the card would no longer boot. lights on board but black screen no HDMI output. I tried several different SD cards and different images all with the same result (A1 Sandisk cards) Eventually I tried a hail mary and put an Armbian image on a really old USB thumb stick and it immediately booted and worked just fine. I tried putting the OrangePi os on one of my SD cards for kicks and it gets HDMI output but is just stuck on th…

Hi, I have a nanopi neo SBC and my final goal is to get Sunxi-cedrus 2019.03_Release (patched kernel 5.0.0 release) installed on device to test cedrus driver. Did a manual kernel build and tried to dpkg -i *.deb files on the board but the kernel hangs on boot. I read also but that didn't help me so much So I tried same procedure to replace the armbian standard 4.19.20 kernel with an official mainline 4.19.36 version. I found same exact issue so I think I'm missing something. Please have a quick read at the procedure I followed and put any advice to help me going through. 1) touch default kernel .config to have: -…

Hi everyone, I'm an experienced Debian user but it's my first time with Armbian running on an Orange Pi Zero. I'd like to make it a DB node by running MySQL. As there is no MySQL available in the apt repository, I tried MariaDB but during the installation (tried multiple times) I don't get asked for a password and need to run mysql --skip-grant-tables which leads to db failure, permission problems (like root can access without password while all the other users are blocked). Installation from source code fails due to limited memory. How can I seamlessly get mysql-server to work on Armbian?

Is there any description how to setup the boot logo? I tried what I found: in build/packages/blobs/splash change logo.png and run command line with "BOOT_LOGO=yes", it doesn't work. After I found "What we use now is plymouth". OK. Does it work in compile time? I don't have plymouth after installing armbian in a docker container. How should I use plymouth (if it is the only way) to make a boot logo in compile time?

I've been working on this for 3 days now. Don't know what I'm missing. I also tried installing lightdm, no change. I could also use the shut down command. Tried everything I could think of there too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate wasting your bandwidth and time. I'm stuck! I'm done wasting bandwidth and moved to time now. Funny it asks me startx like in (OS name). Does this limitation is due to: My FFmpeg patch (I think not...) CedarX/Cedrus driver implementation. Hardware limitation. Thanks for the help, Joseph

Hi, I have "ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) 4.6.5-sunxi" running on a BananPi R1 router. I used to have it set up such that while it booted off the SD card, it had its root FS on an SSD. Some time ago, I had to re-install as an upgrade went fatally wrong and now I cannot remember the exact steps to switch from the SD card to the SSD as the root FS. I changed the root= in /boot/boot.cmd and generated the /boot/boot-scr and also changed the /etc/fstab entry but findmnt -n -o SOURCE / still shows "/dev/mmcblk0p1". Can anyone tell me the steps to take in switching to a new root FS? Thanks and ... stay healthy! Josef

I've had two Cubietrucks running almost flawlessly for about 10 years on Armbian/Buster and previous versions. I recently decided to install Bookworm using Armbian_23.8.1_Cubietruck_bookworm_current_6.1.47.img.xz. On this I encountered several problems, whose causes I never fully uncovered, but got over them. One of these problems was that neither manual setup nor the use of armbian-config allowed for a lasting configuration of the German keyboard layout, although "Personal Setting" says the opposite (see att. image No.2). It's a pain in the neck, really. All I could filter out is a commandline message that's only visible a second. See the last screenshot with fou…
