  2. Hello Everyone! Recently @NicoD has been helping to release some videos on the Armbian community as well he usually keeps up with reviewing and documenting single board computers. This got me thinking it would probably be awesome to have a central place to document Armbian related videos and documentation that exists. I will try to post any good Armbian related channels or videos my self, but I would invite anyone else who would like to contribute to this thread as well! Are you a creator that loves Armbian and has made some videos about it?? Let us know and share here! To get things started I will include NicoD…

    You asked for it, here it is: The official Armbian SWAG store http://swag.armbian.com (small selection, there is more!) Earlier you could write Armbian to an SD card only, now you can even wear it. Awesome, right? Comes even with a free hug if I catch somebody wearing it (and the pandemic is over) . The best part: a small cut of every sale goes straight to Armbian and will be invested into infrastrucuture, testing equipment and of course new boards (if a parsimonious vendor does not want to provide free samples to the lap ). You can grab your favorite merchandise and support the project at the same time! …

  8. Armbian is evolving rapidly, now supporting an ever-growing list of single-board computers (SBCs) - each with unique hardware, kernels, and configurations. As the variety of supported boards expands, so does the complexity of troubleshooting and providing effective user assistance. To keep up with this demand, we’re raising 5,000 EUR to hire part-time support agents who can help manage this increasing workload and ensure high-quality support for the community. 9. Some users may experience issues when downloading new v23.11 images from our website or also sometimes with apt not having the new packages. The reason is that we had a (not so) small whoopsie at the very last minute and the infra is still recovering and syncing. Easiest workaround would be to simply try multiple times until the redirector hits a mirror that has the files you want to download. Alternatively go directly to https://fi.mirror.armbian.de/ which (seems to) have all the files atm. Will work with apt as well.

  19. Hey there, from time to time we have to decide on which boards we drop the maintained status and stop development in order to keep (or try at least) the workload for us at a controllable level. These boards are not necessarily end-of-life (EOL) but reached a decent enough state to let them go from active development. Though after today's developer meeting we are unsure how to name these boards. Therefore we ask our community what they think. Let us know by either voting or leaving a comment below. Thank you for your feedback!

  20. Armbian Configurator Refactor Project This project will work to refactor and replace the currently existing ‘armbian-config’ command line tool. The main reason for refactoring this tool is to get rid of the ‘beta’ label. The current version of the tool was never properly designed and is potentially unsafe to use. We want to re-make it with appropriate coding standards, to enhance security and add better support for automation. Goals of the refactoring project: Cleaner and more secure code Unit testing of critical functions via Github CI Write in in a single / common language - Bash Use independant…

    Besides the recommended images based on current kernel and stable userspaces we also provide cutting edge images for testing. Unfortunately due to that we notice and increasing amount of complains about such things won't work which is for some to be expected and for the other related to unstable userspace (like Debian sid). Dealing with such support requests causes time loss on our end and frustration on user's end since these issues most likely cannot even be solved by us. On our last Weekly Armbian Community Voice Chat on Discord we discussed this topic and came up with a few ideas how to deal with the situation. So what do you think …

  31. Recently we announced that we are going to drop support for bulk of boards to secure better quality for those that will remain. But which will remain? Those who will have at least one dedicated maintainer - anyone can become one. Check new "Armbian standard" support policy: Armbian team took over what was possible while the remaining boards, which won't get a maintainer by December 1st, will loose support status and will be removed from the download pages. https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/3148 Apply and help Apply for maintainership by contacting @yang or @Werner

    I had started to remove the automatic generation of PDF from documentation, but now I am starting to wonder if that was actually a good idea. In case you did not know, in addition to https://docs.armbian.com/ you can also download a PDF copy of same from here. Maybe this is helpful for people who are offline while working on their SBC? Anyway, please speak up if you are using this! Related Issue: 96 and PRs: 176, 177.

  35. Legacy functionality -- bbcode support has been disabled. The current editor version has richer formatting support natively.. Disabling the bbcode formatting should improve editor performance.

  36. The mirror mentioned above will go offline at 8th of March, so in one week from now. While remaining functional by itself until this date it will be removed from automatic redirect within next few hours. If you have hard-coded this mirror in your sources.list it is strongly recommended to swap for a different one or use the generic redirector code { font-family: Consolas,"courier new"; color: crimson; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2); padding: 2px; font-size: 105%; } apt.armbian.com

  49. After several months of development, we finally bring desktop development to the daily driver state. Our desktop builds follow KISS philosophy. They are build around proven technology, we are not touching things that are done well. Just fixing things here and there and removing most / hopefully all bloatware that is added upstream. We are preparing a wide selection of desktop variants while we will officially only support a few of them but anyone is welcome to join and tweak / support its desktop of choice. We will support you in best possible manner! And this way things starts the voyage to become officially supported one day. Only if you join. We…

Since it’s based on the same shell as Bash, ZSH has many of the same features, and switching over is a breeze. So Why Use It? 55. Armbian have historically been much more geared towards "server/headless" usage, for many different reasons. It has taken a much longer time not only for upstream development of underlying graphical libraries / drivers to mature, but also for us (the Armbian project itself) to come up with a sensible implementation that would fit nicely into our existing build framework. However, this work has been going on in the background for quite some time already. Recently we been finding some very clever spammers who register, make some post(s) that sound at least somewhat on topic, and then come back days or even weeks (!) later and edit them in order to insert spam links. Some examples: Some times they put them alongside otherwise legitimate links: Other times, they sneak them into quotes or lists, etc.: Now, above examples have red background from being deleted (which is not how they will look to you normally) but you get the point. There is no way for us currently to detect this kind of spamming, without enacting draconian measures of modera…

    Forum is getting messy and I am getting more and more complains about. Traffic is going up and we / people are always prone to seek shortcuts. Its already enough that just a few people are posting wrong content at wrong location that forum gets a bad smell. Personally I and those few active moderators can't do more than we already do. We already use all possible technical equipment to limit the spam, but merging/moving wrongly posted topics can't be done by AI. At least not today. Please, take a look - all is written there - and apply: In case you truly want to contribute to this community as a moderator but you don't have enough days or posts require for nomin…

    Release details https://docs.armbian.com/Release_Changelog/ Upgrading your Armbian to v19.11.y This upgrade is changing kernel branch names and first upgrade is not done via regular apt-upgrade process, but you have to login as root or get super user privileges with sudo su. 90. Started by Igor,

    v5.90 / 7.7.2019 All images were updated. It mainly goes for a bugfix update, cleanup, adding Debian Buster release. Beware that software maturity with Buster is not just there yet (even it was declared stable) and with some applications (like OMV) you will encounter problems. Kernel/BSP wise, Debian Buster is the same, uses Armbian kernel, as our other builds. Most of the builds were briefly tested, but bugs might be hiding somewhere. This is the best what is out there thanks to greater Debian community, those around boards and of course ours which pushes generic Debian/Linux to the sky . Enjoy the summer time. What's new? -> https://docs.armbian.com/…

  91. - default kernel -> stock 4.9.y - next kernel -> 5.2.y https://www.armbian.com/download/?tx_soc=nxp-freescale (except Udoo)
