Hi, running Armbian Ubuntu on Nanopi Neo2 and it is working really great. I would like to implement HPN-SSH but I can't compile any of the OpenSSH versions against OpenSSL 1.1.x present on system. Any idea if OpenSSL 1.1.x can be safely downgraded to the latest OpenSSL 1.0.x release? I would use for example the method described here Not sure if OpenSSL 1.0.x would break anything on the system or not? Thanks for your help and advise!

Ubuntu x64, Bananapi jesie with -next kernel. First try yesterday: everything default, changed only BUILD_DESKTOP to yes image was built with 4.1-rc8 kernel / version of image was 3.1 few errors at the end (perl did not like some locales that were not set and probably some error with resizefs, partial log attached) Image was not bootable, banana did not show anything, behavior was the same as banana without inserted card Second try today: deleted /output/output/* deleted compile.sh and created new one with latest content image was built with 3.19.7 kernel (why that downgrade?), version of image was 3.2 banana boots but cannot remount filesystems. That leads to reb…

Hello. I am finished Armbian Jammy 22.05 Bulseye edge 5.16.20 gnome desktop on a Rockpi4 (rk3399). When I try to overclock from Armbian-config, it doesn't work. That is, I can enter the application, apply rockchip-rk3399-opp-2ghz.dtbo. Then reboot, go to armbian-config and set a new unlocked CPU clock speed of 2.2Ghz. But instead it is only available up to a maximum of 1.8hz. How can this be fixed? Do I have to create an image from scratch, or maybe there is some trick?

I've start looking about the Switching DEV to 5.0.y ... I've done a preliminary trial for OrangePiPCPlus after disabling few patches, etc ... Installed with success ... Although it produce at lot of patch rejects, I think we should pursue the move to 5.0.y, even if it looks more painful than the switch from 4.19.y to 4.20.y done few weeks ago ... I'm also calling for help on this move, as I've seen lot of patch rejects in Lima patches : @JMCC are you the expert here ? For all Devs wishing to keep backup images of 4.20.y, build your images ASAP before the switch occurs ! Any concerns ? EDIT: Oh ! I alm…

Hi Igor, I'm trying to build and update the kernel for the Lime2 board using the script you provided on github. I'm using linux sunxi 3.4.103. The only changes i've made in the kernel are in the sunxi-codec.c file, where i'm changing the values to some variables which should impact the latency on voip softphones. Here are the changes that i'm doing in "static struct snd_pcm_hardware sunxi_pcm_playback_hardware" and "static struct snd_pcm_hardware sunxi_pcm_capture_hardware" { - .period_bytes_min = 1024*4 + .period_bytes_min = 16*2 - .periods_min = 4 + .periods_min = 2 } The problem is that after running the script i get the tar file with 5…

I'm looking for Orange Pi RV2 RISC-V support. This board is gaining popularity due to the Orange Pi manufacturer's good reputation with Arm. I have successfully built both Orange Pi and Raspberry Pi aarch64 builds on Debian from source so I'd like to know how to build Armbian for Orange Pi RV2 riscv64. What would I need to modify in the build process? Thanks!!

Hello, I have been building images for the NanoPC-T4 with armbian successfully in the past. However I now get the error "could not resolve 'ports.ubuntu.com'" when the build tries to install ping_5.1-1_arm64.deb (full log below). Do you have any idea what this comes from and how I could solve/debug this ? Thank you Additional info : I added 8.8.8.8 as an alternative DNS server on my machine, I can ping ports.ubuntu.com successfully. I have cloned the armbian build and head points to this commit https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/5b8d86ae5f6f34cf6cc13edf6b1def2773f66f0a Best regards, Rick …

Since about four weeks we encounter out of memory issues when building an Armbian image on GitHub with a customize-image.sh script. We had no big modifications on the build system since then, we have to rebuild from time to time to get the latest version of our application into the image. We already use a more powerful runner (32GB RAM, 8 cores). Our compile call: ./compile.sh \ BOARD=rockpi-4b \ BRANCH=edge \ RELEASE=bookworm \ KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no \ BUILD_MINIMAL=yes \ NETWORKING_STACK="network-manager" \ COMPRESS_OUTPUTIMAGE=xz \ KERNEL_BTF=no \ SHARE_LOG=yes Our build is based on the tag v25.8.0-trunk.260 Any ideas for this? Hi! Sorry if this is kind of wrong posting, but I had an failure on compiling first for the Banana Pi for the Debian Stretch, complette image but without any other changes. Just wanted to compile a complete image for the Banana Pi, but got an error that terminated the compilation. After that I made a new image with the Ubuntu version with any problems. Thought that it might have something to do with the old hardware so I tried to compile another one for the Asus Tinker board for the Debian Stretch, but that gave me similar problems with termination of the compilation. Here is the some few lines of the output chip_5.34_all.deb". [ o.k.…

Hi all, there is an issue with SPI on a Banana Pro (A20). I am on mainline kernel 4.5.5 now, but the problem already occurred on 3.4.109. SPI transfers are way to slow for my application, independently from the SPI clock. Investigating the SPI signals it turned out that there is an enormous delay between CS going active (low) and the transmission starting. The delay is in the magnitude of 10...20 usec which is a large multiple of the pure transmission time, so increasing the SPI clock does not solve the problem. The connected device is an SPI TFT display, so I have to send a large number of SPI words of 2 bytes each, where CS must toggle after each word (required by th…

My objective is to boot Armbian on my NanoPi Neo2 from a network server. I've got Armbian running on the NanoPi Neo2 and u-boot recognizes the ethernet interface. Also, I have a DHCP server and TFTP server running. If I press space during start-up, I get in the U-boot environment. When I give the dhcp command in the U-boot environment, the NanoPi Neo2 get's an IP address and loads /boot/boot.scr from the network. So, the pre-requisites seem to work fine. But then.... I just can't figure out how to start Armbian (preferrably in read only mode) from the network. Maybe someone can tell me what needs to be done. I've got the following qu…

Hi, I have been recently working on a couple of extensions: lvm and cloud-init I forked off "v23.11.2" tag when creating my branches, since they are extensions, and wont alter the framework much. Today I noticed that OdroidUX4 is not building, but it was building last week. A patch seems to be failing. I guess it is a kernel/driver patch. Then my question is: is it possible that, on the same tag (v23.11.2), builds break? I am starting to think that the tag is only for the build process/patch set, but excludes, for example a reference to kernel code. I suppose then the situation is that a kernel update…

Greetings, I haven't built a new image for awhile. But, I wanted to refresh the process. In the meanwhile, the only change I've made is upgrading my host. My build platform is a VM. I have no idea if that matters, but it was a change. I now have some weird errors/warning and I want to troubleshoot them. How can I enter into the environment to run just the customize script and commands? I'd like to dig into them, but not sure how. Thanks!

Hi, If I build my kernel 'properly' using the armbian compile.sh script with docker, everything works fine. If I run the docker image interactively, go into /armbian-cache/_data/sources/linux-pine64/my-hacks-1.2 and do export PATH=/root/armbian/cache/toolchains/gcc-linaro-5.4.1-2017.05-x86_64_aarch64-linux-gnu/bin/:$PATH make ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE="aarch64-linux-gnu-" -j8 $* I get a kernel that seem to work in every way, except it won't load any modules. Dear Community, Currently Im playin with my Banana Pi M2 Berry and therefore I need a fusion of the LATEST Armbian -System with the compilers needed by the Boards Offical "GPIO-Libarys", which are outdated 7years ago. I just got a copy of the dev branch armbian comipled (2017-04-10). I'm here with the grand goal of getting libsurvive running with the HTC Vive on the Orange Pi. In order to do this, I need to coax the OrangePi to output to the vive. I was skeptical at first, but it appears you guys support 4k@30, so it should be okay on the pixel-clock front. The vive is 2160x1200@90Hz. You can't underclock it. Just won't go then. It's sadly the only mode the thing supports. I've seen shreds and bits here and there of information about how to do this, but, it seems that most of it is out-of-date for the "dev" branch. Any hints on how I can get the OrangePi to output as per …

Hi all, I'm using armbian on a cubietruck for various purposes. One of them is HAM radio. BUt I just noticed we don't have support for AX25. In fact, we're missing all HAM-related stuff, so I think it isn't possible to build just the modules: # CONFIG_HAMRADIO is not set What I would need is this: CONFIG_HAMRADIO=y # # Packet Radio protocols # CONFIG_AX25=m # # AX.25 network device drivers # CONFIG_MKISS=m # uname -a Linux cubie.acasa.local 4.3.3-sunxi #3 SMP Mon Dec 28 11:27:16 CET 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux Thanks for your support. Why does Armbian include both include ifupdown AND NetworkManager by default? I'm not aware of anything that ifupdown can do that NM cannot and ifupdown doesn't have a TUI/GUI like NM so as far as I'm concerned ifupdown is just clutter that causes config clashes and boot delays. Isn't it time to strip ifupdown from Armbian? On a related note, I've never got any of the (ifupdown) network config options in armbian-config to work.

Since update to 5.5.0 kernel (-rc2) my Orange PI often freezed after uptime of several hours up to 3 days (usually less than 24 hours). Since downgrade to 5.4.10 it seems to be stable again (1 day for now, so I still keep my fingers crossed). (Before upgrade to 5.5. it was up for several weeks - and I don't remember any unplanned reboot). Unfortunately I have no logs (it logs to ram), but in one case if was connected via ssh and had "htop" running - it showed nothing special at freeze time (CPU temperature around 50°C, no high load (around 0,5 load avg, only one CPU cure with a CPU % > 50% (still < 80%)). Hello, FYI for prospective on Odroid XU4, testing images for XU4 (I also have a Cloushell (mini NAS including LCD display)) desktop image link folder Ubuntu 14.04.1 : ok, upgrade to 14.04.3 ok, upgrade to kernel 3.10.92 ok, upgrade to odroid final kernel 4.2.0 DEAD Ubuntu 15.04 : DEAD after reboot (kernel 4.2.0) It seems the image with kernel 4.2.0 just removed "journal" feature of ext4 on startup, so at next reboot, the ext4 fs is dead. trying to fix the SD card on a amd86 Ubuntu gives error like "/usr/sbin" dead, filesystem is garbage server image link ubuntu server image is not usable, dead after first reboot (kernel 4.2 ?) archlinux image…

I've done an experimental build of 5.0.y for my NanoPiK2. It seems that most of the current rejected patches are simply not needed anymore. The only thing I'm not sure what to do is in patch 0038-media-meson-add-v4l2-m2m-video-decoder-driver.patch. I've comment out this line since it seems that v4l2 API has changed : // .vidioc_cropcap = vdec_cropcap, If some of you are more familiar, please, give some help here. Should I proceed to the commits ?

I know most of you probably don't want to hear any more about this chip, but I recently fixed quite a few long standing issues. It's not perfect yet, but it improves scanning/reliable reconnect, incoming frames missed in powersave, ping times, and rate selection. Here's the patch set: https://github.com/fifteenhex/xradio/pull/12 Edit: rebased from karabek: https://github.com/dbeinder/xradio/commits/karabek_rebase And some important comments about powersave: https://github.com/fifteenhex/xradio/pull/11#issuecomment-616226880 In short, relative to the current version, with powersave on, idle consumption is lower by 200mW, but with powersave off, it is 300mW hig…

I have built an image for BananaPi M3 using build and docker. I can install fine on 16GB cards, but anything larger is failing on the mmcblk0 partition resize and then is going into repeated fsck's and failed boots. I have built armbian debian stretch years before and had it installing and running fine on the BananaPi M3, on 256GB uSD Cards. I tried manually extending the partition from an imaged smaller one running parted followed by resize2fs and it had the same crashing on boot. The boots a bit too fast to ascertain where its crashing but it might be the uDev step. Can anyone offer any help with this

I would like to build a hard realtime Linux kernel for Orange Pi SoC. Using Xenomai technologies (Installing Xenomai 3.x , Xenomai Documentation). This would be a great extension of the SoC application area. I did this for the x86 architecture. And I've already assembled the core using your Arabian technology. But building the realtime Xenomai kernel requires pre-patching from a third-party project Adeos (Adaptive Domain Environment for Operating Systems). Patch files for different architectures can be found here: Index of /downloads/ipipe/v4.x Is it possible to build a realtime kernel using Arabian? P.S. I apologize for my poor …

Hello, I try build kernel for NanopiNeo board with user kernel patch, but I don't understand with path needed put my patch. In previous version armbian's builds I just put files to userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current how it described in docs. But now with current version Armbian build system it's not working. I put my custom linux-sunxi-current.config to userpatches folder, my patch to userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current and try build kernel with command: ./compile.sh BOARD=nanopineo BRANCH=current kernel I see that linux-sunxi-current.config found and applied but not patch isn't.

There is another topic with answer for desktop case. But how to rotate the console screen, when there is no desktop? The suggestion about change in kernel parameter - fbcon=rotate:<number> didn't work for me (edited boot.cmd, compiled with mkimage command, and I see boot.scr changed ) and I was unable to change the /sys/class/graphics/fbcon/rotate file - it stays unchanged.

Hi there, I am trying to build the image using docker, but I get several "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error messages and as result the build gets interrupted. Would like to stick to docker build (I am running of fedora 39, and it automatically selects docker), as it looks to be far more efficient rather than running it into a VM. Any idea on how could I get rid of this issue? Thanks is advance! Andrea

I would love to see a guide on how to create a virtual machine for Armbian which would be great for testing in VMWare Workstation, Player or Virtualbox. It would be similar to the diet pi vm which autoboots into the qemu (I think) for the Raspberry Pi If someone has a rough guide on how to do it I can make something noob friendly. My guess is you need to install qemu, add some repositories and then get it to autoboot using rc.local or something like that. Any resources on how to get started would be much appreciated.

This is what I done so far. For SD card 1. I delete /boot/script.bin 2. Write new config in /boot/script.bin 3. Reboot Then the usb is still not detected, it seems that I did something wrong. For nand: 1. I boot via sd card 2. mount /dev/nanda /mnt/nanda 3. rm /mnt/nanda/script.bin 4. cp new_script.bin /mnt/nanda/script.bin 5. umount /mnt/nanda 6. reboot Again, nothing happens. The usb is still not detected Thanks in advance.

Hi Wondering if anyone knew the algorithm that assigns mac addresses to orange zero. Is it based on something static/cpu id /...? or it is purely random. Will this mac change over time or after it is generated, it will stay the same? I have one zero that mac is pretty static and another changed mac after I did a upgrade. If I want better control of the mac address, what's the best way to make it static? this is on the mainline -jerry

Hi all, please be aware that Pine folks in the meantime understood that recommendations to use WinDisk32Imager, dd and other non verifying burning tools are wrong, tried to recommend Etcher instead (as usual sabotaged by at least their most famous forum moderator) and now use finally a 'branded' Etcher 2.0 beta: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4481&pid=27520#pid27520 I don't think it's correct to do it this way (and at least the macOS application sucks since not digitally signed and using a wrong so called 'bundle identifier') but anyway. I tried to used AppArmor under the Linux cubietruck 4.4.1-sunxi #10 SMP Wed Feb 17 17:57:20 CET 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux. But I get a kernel panic after i rebooted the system. Some questions: 1. Did you integrate AppArmor into the kernel? 2. Did you use an alternative mandatory access control? 3. Need I an additional kernel argument in the /boot/boot.cmd other than these "apparmor=1 security=apparmor"? 4. Is there a major diffenrece between your kernel and that from danad.de? Unluckily I was not capable of getting a dump from the kernel panic. If you need it, I would take a photo.

Just a minor problem: uptime from procps-nf 3.3.15 (Armbian buster) - as used in 30-armbian-sysinfo to get uptime/logged-in users/load - generates different outputs if the uptime is either less or more than 1 day or less than 1 hour ("hh:mm" or "d days, hh:mm" or "nn min") - this gets the 30-armbian-sysinfo confused on gathering the logged-in user count resp. load. I suggest the below fix: ... # get uptime, logged in users and load # fix for uptime from procps-ng 3.3.15: reports uptime less then a day as "hh:mm," # but uptime larger than a day as "nn days, hh:mm," or "nn days, mm min", and less than 1 hour as "mm min," # which mixes up the assig…

Hi, Anyone here ever tried to build a mainline uboot for sunxi-3.4 kernel. As mentioned here v2015.10 support NAND spl. https://linux-sunxi.org/Mainline_U-Boot#v2015.10 I'm in the first part of doing it, but unfortunately I'm always stuck with this error. Hello, I noticed that the official armbian images for this board(s) are based on Jessie -> https://www.armbian.com/odroid-hc1/ NCP only supports Stretch, but that is ok, because I build the armbian images from source. The Odroid XU4/HC1/HC2 NCP images I build ( https://ownyourbits.com/downloads ) are using Stretch and everything seems to be working fine so far. My question is, what is your testing procedure to consider an image stable? Would it help if I built the plain Armbian image as well so it can be shared in https://www.armbian.com/odroid-hc1 ? I would be happy to help with this Apologies if this has been asked bef…

What do we have? Serial connection: Hardware schematics: orangepi-plus-h3-v1_1.pdf Wireless: Realtek RTL 8189 ETV Allwinner introduced new way of storing board definitions (also on A23 and A80) so it's a bit different than on A20 boards. H3_Manual_build_howto Kernel building with Allwinner SDK is terrible and was not able to build it. I must admit I haven't invest much time and energy yet.

I've added new patches for OrangePi-ZeroPlus and commited them. Like for OPiPrime done yesterday, the OrangePi-ZeroPlus WiFi still not working. I don't know why yet, although is more encouraging than OPiPrime, since at least the driver comes up in "lsmod" in the OrangePi-ZeroPlus, while for the Prime it didn't. Also another issue : OrangePi-ZeroPlus has an eMMC, I was able to do "nand-install-sata", but I'm unable to boot from it, although the MMC2 DT is part of U-Boot, for some reasons, it doesn't scan it.

i worked on the BPI M1 Board (the first one) for quite a while now improving or more or less rewriting the A20 CSI camera driver. there are no more artifact-ghost-frames any more. The framerate goes from 5fps(full) to 120fps(crobbed small) i also modified the camera-device driver for the ov5640. disadvantage: existing camera device drivers would not be compatible any more. maybe someone wants to give it a try and check it out. it can be found here: https://github.com/xenpac/OV5640-Sunxi-A20
