Didn't know this thing was ever going to see the light of day: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Lichee-Pi-Zero-1GHz-Cortex-A7-512Mbit-DDR-Development-Board-Module-Mini-PC/32931418720.html I see the original board outline is still there, but it grew a bit of a waistline A valid question is why, and I'm not sure, nor will I buy it, just thought it interesting that it popped up. With complete kernel support for VDEC/VENC/ camera this is actually somewhat interesting, so maybe some people would like to play with it. I'm sure @Icenowy knows more than is humanly possible about the capabilities and whether it's worth talking about.

This should be a thread where we every one is invited to improve the 'Support over Forum' situation (there was some discussion about it in the nightly & tkaisers support propsal thread). Threads like this one showed clearly that a lot of good supporters and problem solvers gets more and more frustrated about the situation. Being new as moderator on this board, I have some questions: What do you (as a good problem solver) expect should a moderator do, to avoid situations like this? Should moderators keep the development threads as clean as possible as long as images for those boards are in experimental stage? (throw out every: i'm also interessted in gettin…

Yesterday I did get a new little Bluetooth-Speaker, but without AUX - I rechecked some Bluetooth-Commands. But could never connect, because the Pi missed the protocol A2DP - which was only available with PulseAudio as Bluetooth-Module So I used my 2nd OrangePi One with USB-Bluetooth-Dongle and mainline-kernel for this challenge: ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi Linux opi-one-main 4.14.18-sunxi #24 SMP Fri Feb 9 16:24:32 CET 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux I like ALSA more than PulseAudio - I searched for ALSA and Bluetooth-Audio - and did found no good news about Audio and Bluetooth while using ALSA. You can't read every interesting news blog, annotation etc. about stuff related to tech, linux whatever is in this field. Open a new thread for all those stuff you might share with others here ends that also nobody reads it cause it's spread though various threads. So why not share them all in one thread? Idea: Share a link to the article in this thread with a short teaser what the article is about and maybe some opinions why you like the article. It should not be 'post link only without any description what the article is about'. So, I'll start with the first one (not that recent, but I think it's still worth to read): http://kroah.com…

Dear All, I just want to make a Tutorial on my successful attempt in Installing Box86 on Arm64 and Install Wine X86 apps. In this example it is Sketchup 7.1 and Sketchup 8 But before starting I want to thanks to PtitSeb for his hard work to bring this dream into reality (running x86 apps on arm64 box). My system is X96 Max+ S905x3. I used @balbes150 older image to boot to Armbian, many thanks for him. So In general every box running Armbian 64bit should work. This tutorial will use debootstrap Debian Buster Armhf as base for chroot. The keyword is "Arm64" support "Armhf", therefore you do not need to use Qemu or Binfmt_misc as it is very slow. Here's my repo…

At a first glance NanoPi Duo looks like a combination of Lichee Pi Zero (form, idea) and Orange Pi Zero (ingredients: H2+ and XR819 Wi-Fi). But once combined with the Mini Shield (RPi form factor -- connector and mounting hole positions), USB hub to provide 4 USB2 ports, Fast Ethernet exposed and a short mSATA slot behind a JMS567 USB-to-SATA bridge) it starts to get interesting. More information in FriendlyELEC's wiki/Github: http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_Duo http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/Mini_Shield_for_NanoPi_Duo Device tree file

I have seen many Wifi Benchmarks for speed only and not for reliability. I stopped doing wifi benchmarks for speed since i get very different values for the same board a few hours later,. For real life projects reliability and availability is what matters when you depends solely in wifi network. I would strongly suggest @tkaiser to include "reliability" in his tests, maybe a new thread. As for example you can try iperf with -t 1000, -t 2000, -t 3000 and -t 10000 (if it allows?). Try this with your board and see what happens...

Hi all, this is my first posting although I've been following armbian for some time. Hopefully this is the right forum area... Does anyone know the availability (or otherwise!) and cost of the Banana Pi Zero? It looks like a board clone of the Pi Zero W but with a different processor. Secondly will/does armbian support it assuming it is available? I have a project using the Pi Zero W but of course they are only available in one off quantities. Cliff

HI, sorry if I bother the community so much. Is there a way (I'm sure that is) to setup armbian without DE and without eth connection? I've noticed that I need wired connection to launch armbian-config. Can I do the same with a wifi USB stick? How? If I want to use armbian as wireless AP, do I need to install the DE? Can you guide me? Thank you in advance

Within the next few weeks or months a new Banana Pi model called BPI-R2 will be available. The average buyer of this board thinks of the R2 being an upgrade of BPi-R1 (also known as Lamobo R1) and will also think that software support situation will be the same (trusting in Armbian, Bananian and OpenWRT here). R2 is NOT an upgrade, it's just an entirely different device using an MediaTek MT7623N SoC instead of an Allwinner chip as all the other boards of this vendor. What do we know about the hardware: Quad core Cortex-A7 'up to 1.3Ghz' (no performance numbers known, no info about real clockspeeds, currently cpufreq seems still to be broken: '/cpu…

Recently, a new SBC, the Rock Pi S by Radxa, was launched. Here's it's wiki page: https://wiki.radxa.com/RockpiS It's a 4 core A35 design. I'm debating getting one, but I can't find any information anywhere as to whether or not it's supported on Linux, or Armbian. Of course, if it's not listed in the download section it's not supported, but there's a difference between, "I need to add 100 lines of code and it will work." to "Geez, I need to redesign most of the Linux kernel after pulling my hair out." I did search the sunxi wiki and the local armbian wiki without success. Anyone know anything? Thanks!

(placeholder for a Board Bring Up thread -- now just collecting random nonsense) Board arrived today. Running with ayufan's Debian 9 image (using 1.8/1.4GHz settings for the big.LITTLE cores for whatever reasons instead of 2.0/1.5GHz) I checked for heat dissipation with Pine Inc's huge heatsink first. Huge heatsink combined with thin thermal pad shows really nice thermal values: below 50°C when running cpuburn-a53 on two A53 and two A72 cores in parallel with a fan blowing above the heatsink's surface Board in upright positition still running same cpuburn-a53 task without fan after 20 minutes reports still below 85°C …

Hi all. As regular I was looking for news about a new Odroid. Finally the news arrived. The N2 will have the Amlogic S922X with 4xA73(@1.8Ghz) + 2xA53(@1.9Ghz), a Mali-G52 GPU and 4GB DDR4 RAM. Looks very promising. It should quite a bit faster than the RK3399's. It does have a giant heatsink, so this thing will get very hot I suppose. https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=176&t=33781&p=245930&hilit=n2#p245930 Please let me know what you all think of this. I find it very interesting. Greetings, NicoD

First steps with LeMaker's guitar: These days a few SBC appear that are based on Actions Semi's S500 SoC (quad core Cortex A9r4 processor with 512KB L2 Cache and a PowerVR SGX544 GPU). Two competitors share the Raspberry's form factor (they both use Actions Semi's reference design): Lemon Pi: Roseapple Pi: The Allo SPARKY is also compatible to RPi HATs LeMaker's Guitar differs in size and shape(s) since the Guitar is the combination of one core board as SO-DIMM containing SoC, DRAM and the power management unit (PMU) and a few base boards featuring different hardware: (yes, currently you won't see a product picture since the LeMaker guys seem t…

Hi guys, After trying multiple things and not getting a satisfying result, I decided to just ask: What is best device to use as a low power torrent downloader? I tried with a raspberry pi 2, but kept getting huge fluctuations in speed, as soon as it had to write to usb (on an expensive high speed usb 3 stick). I googled and googled, and came across the orange pi, which had a more powerfull soc, and didn't have the limitation of using a single usb hub that is shared for ethernet+storage. The boards (bought a PC and a one) finally arrived, but they disappoint. Using armbian, real world average speed seems to be even lower than the rpi2. I must admit I used a …

Hi guys, I guess some might have heard that we (Kobol Team) were spinning a new project to succeed to Helios4. Here it is... Helios64 We didn't have to look too far for the board name since in essence the goal was to redesign from scratch Helios4 with a 64-bit SoC and try to improve every key features that made Helios4 a very targeted board for NAS setup. Right now we are at the prototyping test phase, hopefully in a 2 month time will have dozen of Eval boards to send around for evaluation and review... and if all goes well first batch should be available for order in Feb / March 2020. Happy to answer an…

I hope you like the upgrade, which was done on urgent notice due to database failure and we started from this morning's backup. We apologise for some deleted posts and users, wrong settings and possible bugs. Since our previous forum was 5-6 years old, upgrade is tremendous but we will try to keep it similar on function level. There was a plan for redesign but this will be done once in the future. Enjoy!

I'm trying to setup a server based on an Odroid HC2. I chose Armbian Buster but I'm having problems because arm64 isn't as well-supported as 32-bit. I'm thinking about starting over with Focal but I wanted to double-check first... Is Focal 32-bit? Does it still have/use armbian-config and softy? (I assume so, but just in case those are exclusive to Buster, I thought I'd ask.) Thanks for the guidance!

Hey folks, Wondering if anyone has come across a dual core or better single board computer that has dual native gigabit ethernet? I'm also trying to find something around $50.. so far the best I've found is the: NXP FRDM-LS1012A-PA - $50 which has good BSP and hardware packet accelerator but only single core @ 800 MHz As a last resort, I'm considering the NanoPi Neo4 with a USB to Gigabit ethernet adapter, thats about $75 with heatsink and USB 3.0 to Gigabit adapter.

Hi I have an RK3566 board with a Unisoc UWE5621DS wifi/BT chip on it. I have had a number of kernels running on this board (4.19.209 BSP, 6.0 mainline, 6.1-rc1 mainline) but the wifi is a problem. I noticed that there is an Orange Pi 5.17 kernel that includes a driver for UWE5622. I'm not sure how close 5621DS is to 5622 Also I think that this kernel is meant for the Orange Pi 4 which has an RK3399, whereas I have RK3566. Anyone any thoughts on what is most likely to work?

Hi all. Since I wanted a 3D intro for my Youtube Channel I started working with Blender again. Now the intro is finished I've got time to try to make a 3D Armbian Logo. Hello, currently I have a rasperry pi zero w with raspbian and I installed kodi on it. Playback is fine (hardware acceleration is supported), the menus are responsive but most addons are sluggish (to say the least). I saw various threads about kodi on armbian (e.g. this and this) and all say that the problem is lack of support of hw acceleration. I assume the more powerful cpu would help with the addons but, unless something has changed, without hw acceleration it makes no sense to even try. Is the situation the same now or has it improved? Maybe I should just get a raspberry pi 3b+? (it should be far more powerful than the pi zero, right?…

Since I've a pile of these boards lying about, and really prefer a proper case to a plastic one, I have one particular one that stood out to me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079CF5FNX/ The case is aluminum, with machined end blocks and a perforated top. This would be my recommendation for any hot board like the Tinker Board, and to be honest the one I bought is quite nicely put together, with a somewhat industrial feel. Does anyone else have a favorite? I'm not really talking about those zebra cases or open-air acrylic/standoff sandwiches.

Call to Action: Armbian donation round. Dear members of the community, Do you love the armbian OS? Are you frustrated by bugs or problems within armbian? Do you wish that armbian was even better with more releases? If the answer is yes keep reading because there may be a solution. As you know the dedicated team of developers here code this project in their spare time to develop an incredible Linux OS for our ARM devices. They do this for the love of this hobby and we all benefit from it because it is an open source project. One of the hurdles is the fast compiling of the armbian OS. To solve this i…

Hi everyone. I'm starting a project to learn about Big Data processing. Roughly, I'll be following the example set by Michael at http://diybigdata.net/odroid-xu4-cluster/ . From other posts he has made, some extra RAM could be useful, so I am interested in the 4GB ROCK64. My basic configuration will be ROCK64/64Gb eMMC/Pine USB3-SATA cable/HDD. I'm looking to buy 4 of these to start the project and do my development and testing before adding extra nodes to the cluster. It seems that the Pine USB-SATA cable performs well, but the SD card reader does not. I'd like to configure remote power cycling using GPIO from a monitoring SBC and a re…

Hello, I am looking for one board in order to build one NAS. I already have one bananapi pro, I am happy with it, the hardware used to be quite better than raspi boards, but it does not seem to still be marketed. It is just a matter of plugging a 2.5" hard drive on it (usb or sata). So the board would require : - be cheap - credit card format - not interested in video performances - the usb and ethernet not built on the same bus (this is why I say bananapi pro is way better than raspi boards) - can be cooled silently - one sata port - good support from armbian (not talking about video) …

The nice dashboard screenshot above is used by @Fourdee to explain why DietPi is superiour to Armbian: 'With #DietPi, logs and DietPi scripts are mounted to RAM , this reduces SD card write operations vastly' -- while I don't understand the purpose to 'mount scripts to RAM' of course the idea to cache logs into RAM is great! That's why Armbian does it since 2014 already. While the above 'proof' is somewhat questionable (watching a 5 min period in a dashboard and once there's activity in one graph taking a screenshot with numbers without meaning) let's look into what makes DietPi that superiour compared to Armbian since it's always a great idea to improve even …

Hi, A small discussion started here, but I would like to lift it to here. The question and tests should be. Are there alternatives to Etcher? A must was - standard writing verification. IIRC this was back in the days an option you had to set a 'tick' on Win32 DiskImager.. and so not an option. Before we change anything - proper testing and writing down the steps to achieve a great result is a must. Multiplatform, would be nice, but we can as well recommend 2 or 3 SDcard writing programs. Can you please help to write a table of available programs (you can do a table in the forum, but consider quantity of lines & rows first). And w…

Just for the record: Banana people work on another MediaTek based board: https://github.com/BPI-SINOVOIP/BPI-files/commit/a3c53c233fd2059a43763a78b13ca1c5fd0b0f50 SoC is a MT7622A (dual core ARM Cortex A53 processor with some 'dedicated network accelerator', RAID/XOR engine, SATA and PCIe 2.0), latest bootloader commit suggests that the board will be equipped with 802.11ac (AC2600) Wi-Fi.

Just In case anyone is interested I have pushed HTOP 2.2.1 to github, so it is possible to monitor big.LITTLE cores in real-time. You can view the big.LITTLE in action, Vcore, Cpu thermal throttling and Cpu frequency for each big or LITTLE core. HTOP is a nice console graphical tool for system-monitor, process-viewer and process-manager. DEB package and source code in case you want to extend or fix things. Be aware the process list and task can be very intrusive if you want to monitor many things at once. It has been tested on NanoPi M4 (thanks to FriendlyElec for the samples) but should work on any SBC just adjust the Vcore path for differ…

Hello, I spent many hours looking for any working solution how to access my Armbian desktop behind NAT and router with not static IP address over Internet. But I failed at all. In the course of my research I tried VNC Connect by RealVNC, TeamViever, AnyDesk and Google Chrome Remote Desktop. And found neither one working on Armbian. The first tree in the list got installed, but not worked. Maybe because all these were built for Rapsbian, not Armbian. The last one did not get installed at all. No idea why. May be because I had to install it into the Chromium browser, not the Chrome as Chrome is not available for armhf. May be it is not ready for armhf yet. …

I want to turn my Banana PI into a NAS. Since SSDs are still too small (or much too expensive for my purpose) I need to use a standard 3,5 HD and those will need that much power (on spin-on at least) that I can't use the Banana SATA to power up the HD, right? Can those people that use banana pi et al. as NAS tell me what kind of external power supply they use with what type of connector? If you can recommend low-power HDs I'd like to hear that too. Are there power supplys that can safely feed the Banana pi itself and the HD? Preferably without soldering the connectors?

After reading about the actual 2018 performance test of @tkaiser and reading about the manfid and oemid of SD-Cards I did found out that my "SONY Class 10" card is a fake - also because armbian told me at the first login that the card is to slow: Attention: Your SD card seems to be very slow. Please check performance using armbianmonitor -c While searching for manfid/oemid I did read about a Android-App which can identify SD-Cards using manfid/oemid: SD Insight. Doenst work not on all Android >=7.0 devices (because of a change in 7.0) but on devices <7.0 On the webpage they are using a smartphone - but SD Insight work fine on a And…

Hi! I'm using Banana PI and latest Armbian_5.00_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_3.4.110. So I presume i have to install at least: xfce4 - Meta-package for the Xfce Lightweight Desktop Environment xfconf - utilities for managing settings in Xfce xfwm4 - window manager of the Xfce project xfe - lightweight file manager for X11 Since I'm newbee in linux I'd like to know what I have to ins…

I am very new to Armbian. I have been running it on a NanoPi R1 for 1 week and all is well, but I am now trying to understand how I will maintain it. I started with the Armbian Buster download, which I wrote to SD card then transferred to emmc. This was easy and completely problem free. I have installed various packages to set up some services and again - all was easy. I am running: BOARD=nanopi-r1 BOARD_NAME="NanoPi R1" BOARDFAMILY=sun8i BUILD_REPOSITORY_URL=https://github.com/armbian/build BUILD_REPOSITORY_COMMIT=76ac54aa VERSION=5.90 LINUXFAMILY=sunxi BRANCH=next ARCH=arm IMAGE_TYPE=stable BOARD_TYPE=conf INITRD_ARCH=arm …

Hi. Firstly, is anyone working on building Armbian for the Quartz64? If no one else is I would love to give it a try. What I already have:- A Quartz64 running slarm64 (or the default manjaro) Kernel source for above and a dtb file. A build environment that seems to work (I just built an image for Rock 3a on it). Can anyone give me some ideas on how I clone an existing device in the build environment and start modifying it so that it can build something new? I notice that the legacy kernel that it produced for the Rock 3a is version 4.19.193 which looks good for the Quartz64 as well. The advantage of this older …

At the moment I run a local Jellyfin server on an older amd64 system which @NicoD would call a giant space heater Anyway it would be nice if a proper SBC could replace this thing, last but not least to save a decent amount of space The question is which board is capable and has the proper software support? Anyone here does have experience with video acceleration on SBCs using media servers like plex, emby, jellyfin or whatever they all may called and if so which board, which kernel and how well do things work? Since the data backend is network storage the board does not need either lots of USB3 connectors (one decent is enough for caching) n…

First, I apologize if this is the wrong section of the forum for this question. I will keep watch on the response and learn for future posts. I apologize if I got it wrong. I was looking at Orange Pi devices on aliexpress and noticed the "Orange Pi i96 256MB Cortex-A5 32bit with WIFI and Bluetooth". Looks like a cool device, but I haven't found mention if it in the forum and it's not in the downloads section ... Will the Orange Pi i96 be included as a target device? And will the on-board WiFi be a disaster like the Orange Pi Zero on-board WiFI, or is it possible the i96 on-board WiFi will be usable? I really hope they learned from the zero an…

Unix/MacOS tools to write images to SD cards: the usual dd dc3dd & dcfldd are improved forks of dd dcfldd has also a nice "on the fly" hashing mechanism (so to avoid complex md5 or sha*) but it has many options so it is a bit complicated to use (see). I am often using dc3dd on Debian like systems because you can see realtime the % of the processing and you may leave dc3dd to manage buffering & doing the hashing on the fly: sudo apt-get install dc3dd sudo dc3dd if=Image.bin of=/dev/sdX sudo dc3dd verb=on hash=md5 if=Image.bin of=/dev/sdX hof=sdX_output.md5 Prior to dc3dd, I was using "pv" (but "pv" has some delayed display because it is linked to the pip…

Today I had a chance to test OV5640 on mainline kernel 4.17.2 and see the status of OV5640 and CSI drivers, thanks to FE work and the author of the driver (help name here...). I tested on NanoPi K1 Plus (H5) to verify the images in very low light conditions, so don't expect good quality. I could take some images using fswebcam and you should expect basic v4l2 functionality already works if not all. I think motion (did not test / had time to test it) can work with current OV5640 on mainline kernel. Grabbing Image is very fast, currently, Image size I can get are 320x240 and 640x480 pixels, above this i get a dark image. I have not looked at the driver source cod…

I've done some load testing of my first prototype power "mezzanine" board (can't say "hat") The voltage drop of powering the RPi touchscreen off of the GPIO while the tinker is on micro-USB is insane, I was reading 3.9 Volts on the USB ports when I ran minerd --benchmark. I may have finally worn out the Micro-USB connector... This is a project for learning the ins and outs of kicad and get an idea of the capabilities of the PCB houses I have reasonably fast access to (Chinese ones unfortunately always get stuck in customs for a week or more on top of the normal shipping and fab times, so the cost savings is lost in time) I have some more interesting thing…

This mini-tutorial is for those interested in running OpenGL applications and games on OpenGL ES. Most (maybe all?) SoCs around support OpenGL ES, which is almost a stripped down version of OpenGL. OpenGL ES is mainly used by smartphone apps, but on Linux and generally on desktop computer OpenGL clients are the most common. This tutorial is very simple and will teach you on how to download and compile GL4ES (github: https://github.com/ptitSeb/gl4es), a nice piece of software that converts most OpenGL calls into OpenGL ES counterparts to achieve some degree of compatibility and let your apps run on our SoCs. The target of this tutorial is the Rockchip RK3288 SoC …

I want to use the latter to confirm some consumption measurements we're currently doing to prepare Armbian low-power (or IoT) settings for a couple of boards (see here and here for details) To my surprise I wasn't able to login to RPi Zero without soldering wires or GPIO header since I've no Micro-HDMI cable/adapter, my only Micro-USB adapter is a 90° one preventing to power the bo…

Hi, I have heard in a podcast about: fatrace “file access traceâ€, not “fat race†fatrace: report system wide file access events Part of our efforts to reduce power consumption is to identify processes which keep waking up the disk even when the computer is idle. I cannot find it in the repositories of my: Armbian 4.2 3.4.108-banana apt-cache search fatrace apt-cache show fatrace I was wondering if only I am interested in it or if it would be interesting to add it to the repository ? I think Xunlong should be able to make a Orange Pi Zero with 512MB RAM and Gigabit ethernet for around $10. If they did, would you buy it? Do you think it would be a good product? The H2/H3/H5 is capable of gigabit ethernet, they just need an external ethernet chip that costs about $1. If you think about it. To go from an Orange Pi PC which has 1GB RAM @ $15, to an Orange Pi 2E with 2GB RAM $35, thats more than double the cost to double the RAM. But if you go from an Orange Pi Zero with 100Mbit ethernet at $9 to 1000Mbit ethernet at $10, that's only a 0.1X increase in cost for a 10X increase in performance. That means you get about 10.5x more value for mon…

CNX software gave me the heads up on it, https://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=244 More or less looks like a Duo with the following adjustments: 256 --> 512 MB RAM base H2+ --> H3 (uncertain why this matters on a DIP package) Garbage Wifi --> AP6212 Other than WiFi I'm not sure I see a huge reason to go for one over the other. If you're building around a dual-inline package, multimedia is probably low on priorities. On the bright side, supporting this should be trivial if there's a demand, it should more or less only require a device tree for the wifi.

Just FYI: the first interesting Banana board since ages: BPi R16 based on Allwinner's A33 SoC (R16 is just a relabeled A33 with a different Allwinner business unit being responsible for). For R16 exists a horribly outdated 'SDK' made by Allwinner's BU5: https://github.com/tinalinux/linux-3.4 (relies on unpatched kernel 3.4.39 which might contain more security flaws than features in the meantime. Their tinalinux approach combines this with an outdated Android 4.4 and somehow also a smelly OpenWRT version for reasons unknown to me. Surprisingly they also rely on their own proprietary LiveSuit image format no one on this planet outside of Allwinner wants to use). …

Hi all, I want to isolate Nextcloud on my BananaPro with a virtual machine. (Background: I want to open the port in the router to sync with Nextcloud from the internet. To protect my other data (NAS with OMV, Smart Home with fhem) Nextcloud should run isolated by a virtual machine or in a Docker container.) I have found a lot of information about Docker in this forum, but not about virtual machines. Is, perhaps, "Own your bits" a good solution? Currently running Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.19.62-sunxi on Banana Pro. It is a headless server without desktop, so the virtual machine has to be installed and configured only with CLI. Hey guys, I am thinking to build a wireless router from a single board computer, so my requirement is that the chosen board to support Linux to have at least one Gigabit port and also to have a PCIe port to connect an external WiFi card and antennas and eventually attach one or more SSDs. The advantages of the EspressoBin are: it has built-in networking switch with one dedicated WAN and two LAN interfaces all 1Gbps dedicated SATA interface miniPCIe slot for wireless cards stable Armbian support …

Hello! I want to replace my old "Server" (Pi 1B) with something more powerfull. In the same move, I want to use my server to do a lot more things than it does now. To be future-proof I would like my server to have GbE and 2 GB RAM. Also I want to have a Home-NAS for Backups. (SATA; GbE) I am wondering if I should combine the two into one ... in this case, the Server-OS would be backed up probably on my workstation. Why using two devices if I could use one ... It would have lots of m…

Hello. I've been playing with several low-cost SBCs for a couple of weeks now and I'm totally hooked on these incredible little things. Most of my boards are Orange Pi's simply because of the low cost (but I do have ODROID XU4 and a couple RPis too). Somehow one of my favorites seem to be the little OPi Zero (H2+), I'm using it as a "shell account" for if and when I need access to linux command line (most of my "big machines" are Win-based). However the Zero's POE implementation is... kinda non-existant really. You can read more about it elsewhere, let's just say it isn't usable without additional hardware. For my purposes, the OPiZero H2+ is powe…

these boards are no longer available, but there are quite a lot of these boards around - they work really well and it would be nice to get an Armbian build for them. There is an image from Odroid for it, but with an outdated 3.14 kernel. There is a working 4.9 Kernel for those boards - I was asking them, if they could update there image with the 4.8 Kernel, but the answer was no - http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=16633&start=100 https://github.com/tobiasjakobi/linux-odroid-public/blob/odroid-4.9.y/README-ODROID.md https://github.com/tobiasjakobi/ http://linux-exynos.org/wiki/Hardkernel_ODROID-X2

@w0ndersp00n - I moved this here, not to hijack the Mayan thread Building it, sounds a bit similar to here: https://github.com/armbian/autotests After cloning, Igor runs an initial part of the script. Once it configured itself (and you have adjusted the configuration file) you run the script again. A similar approach could be done for DMS Paperless I guess. I agree, Mayan has business like options. Do you want it for business or private use? Not sure what exactly you mean by web-upload, paperless offers: Currently, there are three options: the consumption directory, IMAP (email), and HTTP POST.

I guess that after some time, the Zero running Armbian won't be that happy about being shut off brutally. I have seen some setups with supercapacitors for Raspberry Pis, but has anyone in here tried something similar with the OrangePi Zero? Or anything else that would delay the power loss, so that the board can shutdown properly? I made searches about supercapacitors with Armbian, but only found some…

Hey I managed to get the WiringOP libraries to build with the Python WiringPi libraries on my OPI One. I wrote up a quick gist and made a dinky fork to save some people some time: Orange PI WiringPi-Python Gist PS: Igor, TKaiser, and other contributors. Armbian is a really great distro. I'm very grateful for all your hard work.

Hi there, I've been contacted by KoVu Inc. regarding their RK3328 "SwiftBoard", which should be a great candidate for NAS applications. Any thoughts? https://www.board-db.org/news/2018/01/08/kovu-swiftboard-data-nas-single-board-computer-sata-hdmi-2-0-emmc-gbe-android-armbian-openmediavault/ P.S.: I should receive a sample of this board in the next weeks, if you're interested in further updates. Cheers!
