  1. Started by jacomo,

Hello, Apologies if this posted in wrong section. I'm running Armbian buster with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi on an Orange Pi 0 (512) and recently I decided to install openmediavault. So I added a 32G USB flash memory and both lsblk and lsusb failed to display the device. So I followed instructions at with no avail. Now I know that USB ports used to work a couple of months earlier and I have cleaned the dusty ports and tried many different UDB flash memories and no result. Appreciate any help and thank you.

  2. Is there any plan to support linux server firmware for Orange Pi 3G-IOT-B ? here is for android only http://www.orangepi.org/downloadresources/

  3. Hi, Please excuse me if this question has been brought up before, but I recently got a couple of Orange Pi 4G IOT boards, and I find the instructions for flashing Ubuntu lacking. So I wonder, does armbian work on this particular board? It would be awesome if I could flash it with armbian, and install the drivers for the modem later (as long as wifi works ofcourse so I can actually connect to it).

  4. Started by Jack953,

The Orange Pi 4G-IOT page suggest that board uses a 4g module, since in the pic its written "4g module" and an arrow point to a chip. But it's SoC MT6737 has an integrated cellular modem ! So does it uses a module or the integrated modem ? All the chips are covered with a metal shield, so I can't tell.

  7. I have an orange pi plus 2e running 24/7 as a file server, torrent box, plex server, pi-hole etc. It has been running fine for the first few months I have gotten it. Recently the usb HDD that is connected to it started disconnecting often during heavy loads ( downloading torrents) or sometimes randomly. I assumed that it was the usb power adapter fault ( I used a samsung 5a 2v power adapter ) and I replaced it with an identical one. However the problem still persist. Could it be the usb to barrel plug cable that is sold from aliexpress be at fault?

First, I apologize if this is the wrong section of the forum for this question. I will keep watch on the response and learn for future posts. I apologize if I got it wrong. I was looking at Orange Pi devices on aliexpress and noticed the "Orange Pi i96 256MB Cortex-A5 32bit with WIFI and Bluetooth". Looks like a cool device, but I haven't found mention if it in the forum and it's not in the downloads section ... Will the Orange Pi i96 be included as a target device? And will the on-board WiFi be a disaster like the Orange Pi Zero on-board WiFI, or is it possible the i96 on-board WiFi will be usable? I really hope they learned from the zero an…

  11. Hi All, I wonder if anyone ever succeeded in getting the USB 2.0 port of this board work properly. I'd like to (try to) use it as a *very* low cost ADS-B receiver using an external RTL-SDR dongle, but despite the fact that the port is claimed to be a 2.0 (and recognized by the OS as a 2.0 Hub) when I attach the dongle (which is a high speed 2.0) no driver are loaded and is instead recognized as a full speed device, therefore the RTL-SDR library stops working with transfer errors, since it needs the 480M transfer speed of the 2.0 port and is unable to work with the 12M speed of the "full" standard. Here is my dmesg | grep usb …

  39. I think Xunlong should be able to make a Orange Pi Zero with 512MB RAM and Gigabit ethernet for around $10. If they did, would you buy it? Do you think it would be a good product? The H2/H3/H5 is capable of gigabit ethernet, they just need an external ethernet chip that costs about $1. If you think about it. To go from an Orange Pi PC which has 1GB RAM @ $15, to an Orange Pi 2E with 2GB RAM $35, thats more than double the cost to double the RAM. But if you go from an Orange Pi Zero with 100Mbit ethernet at $9 to 1000Mbit ethernet at $10, that's only a 0.1X increase in cost for a 10X increase in performance. That means you get about 10.5x more value for mon…

I am running Banana Pi - M3 with the dual camera extension on Ubuntu Xenial rootfs and with the stock driver. I found only this https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/#how-to-freeze-your-filesystem-outdated and docs is outdated. On Rapsbian I can enable overlayfs directly from raspi-config. Is there any way how to do the same on Armbian? Thanks for help.

about COCKPIT in opposite to eg. Webmin does Cockpit edit just like you would in the configuration files. So it doesn't matter if you do any changes via SSH or via Cockpit. It is pretty neat to view your devices, see whether they run smooth or if one is going mad If you grab it from their website you get the latest and greatest (updates pushed weekly) but the easy way is: apt update && apt-get install cockpit (available since Ubuntu 16.04, needs systemd). I got Version 151. On the tinker board mainline the download was only about 1750Kb, the server side is written in C and in your browser it runs with Javascript and such. Just lik…

Seems somewhere in Panfrost it requires the screen to be at least 640 wide and the color depth to be at least 24 or it requires a different set of fonts??? If I disable Panfrost the screen gets back to normal so you can see the whole terminal and the texts are in black instead of yellow and brown. 64. I'm currently on the hunt for the cheapest decently reliable board to use for building a glusterfs cluster. Requirements are simple: GbE, SATA port, arm64, preferably low power. While helios64 is obviously the way to go for a NAS when it lands, it's totally overkill for a setup like this and I just realized that ODROID HC2 won't fly due to being 32-bit only. Most other 64-bit boards require expansion boards for SATA, which drags up the total cost. Finally I realized that the PC Engines APU boards fit all criteria, and come with what I understand to be performant GX-412TC CPUs. This one, for example, for 86EUR (maybe a bit on the pricey side, but I have…

  68. Hi guys I have no time to test performace between armbian, retrorangepi and h3droid, does some one test the same app on the three system, does it run the same? I have now an armbian with kodi and retroarch that i'm using for test, but I'm planning to move to a more TV friendly OS as retrorangepi or h3droid. the main problem is Netflix, I should go for h3droid only for netflix app, but I want to be sure that retrorangepi and kodi works the same as on armbian/retrorangepi. and that the temps are the same. Can you help me if you had some experience? PS I know that I could run netflix on kodi but I didn't tested it. thank you in advance

Are clusters able to do anything useful yet? I'm vaguely aware of open stack and I know that googles server farms are full of consumer PCs all networked together and even people making RasPi clusters of varying sizes, but are they any good for normal uses? For example if I bought 10 OPi PC's and stuck them in a case with an Ethernet switch and a hard drive could I build Armbian really really quickly (typing make -j40 would be nice ;-) or would it ultimately just get bogged down and do nothing?

Since I've a pile of these boards lying about, and really prefer a proper case to a plastic one, I have one particular one that stood out to me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079CF5FNX/ The case is aluminum, with machined end blocks and a perforated top. This would be my recommendation for any hot board like the Tinker Board, and to be honest the one I bought is quite nicely put together, with a somewhat industrial feel. Does anyone else have a favorite? I'm not really talking about those zebra cases or open-air acrylic/standoff sandwiches.

I may have finally worn out the Micro-USB connector... This is a project for learning the ins and outs of kicad and get an idea of the capabilities of the PCB houses I have reasonably fast access to (Chinese ones unfortunately always get stuck in customs for a week or more on top of the normal shipping and fab times, so the cost savings is lost in time) I have some more interesting thing…
