Can anyone help me convert an Orange Pi image to run on my new Odroid XU4 as I need it running on the older kernal ARMBIAN 5.31 stable Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i The newer Kernal has a few small issues that cause a problem for my setup.

Hello, Version 5.4.0-odroidxu4 #19.11.3.342 If I use this command: sudo swapoff -a sudo swapon -a Swap switch off, but not on again. Only after reboot, swap is on again. regards ThomasD

  3. I used the Armbian 24.11.1 Bookworm Minimal / IOT Image from https://www.armbian.com/odroid-xu4/. 4. Hello, I have updated my Odroid HC1 to 26.2.1 - just the kernel, u-boot and such. I have been running a self-built 6.6.128 prior so kernel version itself is unlikely the issue. After rebooting, my SATA drive seems dead - no partitions are detected, only the main sda device. This is what the journal said before: Mar 05 15:51:31 kernel: usb 4-1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci-hcd Mar 05 15:51:31 kernel: usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=152d, idProduct=0578, bcdDevice=31.02 Mar 05 15:51:31 kernel: usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Mar 05 15:51:31 kernel: usb 4-1: Product: USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge Mar 05 15:5…

  5. I'm trying to get a full serial console on my XU4. I currently only get the U-boot output. The last message says "Loading Kernel". I never get any kernel related messages. I understand I will need to start up a getty to actually log in via this console port, but I haven't even gotten that far. In my (unchanged) boot.ini I have console=ttySAC2, 115200n8. And when the system boots up, I cannot manually write anything to that port (as i believe the kernel has it opened) Any Ideas? Thanks! Caleb

  6. https://dl.armbian.com/odroidxu4/archive/Armbian_20.05.2_Odroidxu4_bullseye_current_5.4.41.img.xz Third link on XU4 and HC1,2 MC1 download pages are 404 not found. Building an archive for a workshop I'm doing next week and got the 404. No big deal, just wanted to make a note.

  7. Hi, I lose hdmi output if I unplug the hdmi cable and plug it again .. I can still access the odroid via ssh.. Any help is greatly appreciated !

  8. I'm new here, so please bear with me! I run an Odroid XU4 with Armbian stretch default. Recently I did a normal apt update and upgrade to kernel/dtb/headers version 5.97 (from 5.91), along with all other possible upgrades. This made the system very unstable- it had an uptime of nearly 3 months with 5.91 (all time high for the board) before the reboot, and after the upgrade it lasted a couple of hours before stalling/crashing. A downgrade to kernel/dtb/headers v 5.95 helped somewhat, but it crashed after a week or so - it may just be of those "it just happens". I went ahead and installed 5.91 and it is stable so far a few days in. The board is a bit…

  10. Hi guys, this is something that I would like to achieve if feasible. I remember that other OS like "RetroPie Arena" support GPU acceleration, thanks. Any documentation to read? Thanks! 🙏

  11. Hi! my odroid HC2 is running pretty great on armbian 5.90 for >1,5 years (24/7) now. Running a nextcloud instance, with decent perfomance, even when clocked to 600/1200 Mhz in the summer, because of one (1) crash, that I think might have been heat-related. The thing I'm wondering about: in htop, it shows only ( .LITTLE) cores for eight lines, but the cpu is a (.big.LITTLE) architecture and my other HC2 sbc, which runs armbian 20.02.7, show "(.big.LITTLE)" in htop. Perfomance in sysbench is equal on both boards, so this might mean nothing, but it still seemed strange to me. Anyone knows why htop only shows "( .LITTLE)" cores?

  12. Hi! short question: Best way to create a bootable clone of sd card? I did some reading and found ">>create image on windows >> shrink image via gparted" doesn't work for me since I dont have a second computer running linux (will the linux subsystem on windows 10 help?). In the past, I used the rpi-clone on a raspberry, but reading in this forum has taught me that hotcloning an armbian sd card via script is not necessarily safe. Computers availabel to me are: 1) odroid hc2 running armbian 2) acer laptop running windows 10

  13. On a fresh armbian bullseye debian install on an odroidhc2, the only change is I installed NCP through armbian softy and a reboot. My sudo account works, but if I try to sign into root it says account unavailable. How can I fix this?

  14. Hi Guys, I tested both the odroid official and armbian images for the XU4. Both run well, but I prefer the armbian image. I have attached my 800x480 hdmi display, it works, but there's a purple line at the left side of the display. ( I think it's one pixel wide) This is not the case with the odroid official image, so I guess it's a configuration issue. I took a look at the boot. ini file, but I don't see anything that rings a bell. Can somebody point me to the right direction?

  15. Hi All! I was wondering if there is a proper way to deploy a freshly built armbian for Odroid XU4 on an eMMC? Unfortunately, the SD-Card version doesn't seem to work with the eMMC. After searching for this topic I couldn't find anythin in particular related to Odroid. Thanks, Viktor

  16. Hi, I'm considering reinstalling OpenMediaVault using an Armbian image as the NAS performance on the current image I use is very bad (4-7 megabyte via Samba over Gigabit) and I've heard that it should be much better with Armbian. Since I have some data on my NAS that's protected with Ecryptfs, I wonder if the kernel config in a future update could be changed to include Ecrypt_fs module support. Thanks for considering making this change. All the best, Sebastian EDIT: tkaiser from the openmediavault forum took care of this. Thanks!

  17. Ok, so after PHP issues I started off with a fresh armbian install and via armbian-config I installed OMV 4. Install finished without any problems but if I copy stuff via smb the tranfer speed is really bad and I don't know why. On an old install with OMV 3 I used to get nice 100 mb/s. The cpu temp also used to be at like 80 °C during copy, now it looks like this: Following extra options are set in smb.conf: min receivefile size = 16384 write cache size = 524288 getwd cache = yes socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY I also checked smbd app, it's running on a big core.... I get the feeling that not all the avaiable resources of my HC2 ar…

  18. I learned that the cpu on my hc2 has 4 'slow' cores and 4 fast ones. Now I would want certain apps to always use the fast cores. I found `taskset` to do so. My idea was to just add `taskset --cpu-list 4,5,6,7` in the .service file of the desired app in the execstart line in front. To have it always use the big cores. Would this work? Also I have apps 'calling' unrar to extract files. I don't know how I would do it in this case. I think it'll be a bit complicated to tell the apps to call unrar with `taskset --cpu-list 4,5,6,7`. Is there a way to have unrar always run on the big cores?

  19. Started by kingi,

I tried to install armbian to my internal sata drive (SSD: Samsung Evo 850). But the device fails to boot after the root fs is moved. I used the command nand-sata-install with following option: Boot from SD - system on SATA or USB I tried different filesystem formats (ext4, btrfs) and armbian builds: Armbian_5.37_Odroidxu4_Debian_jessie_next_4.9.71 (stable) Armbian_5.37_Odroidxu4_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.9.71 (stable) Armbian_5.41_Odroidxu4_Debian_stretch_next_4.9.83 (self-built) I dont have a terminal adapter to access the boot logs. Any hints how to get additional information or to fix this issue?

  20. I got my HC2 yesterday and am quite satisfied with it. I'm using the latest Armbian Stretch release. The spin-down of my 3TB WD Red was solved by a firmware update. 22. Started by zsolt,

I installed a Debian Jessie on an Odroid HC1, and trying to connect an encrypted disk to it via USB. blkid lists the device: # blkid /dev/sdb1: UUID="2288876d-0fe8-4b5a-b7d1-1660df8b2e25" TYPE="crypto_LUKS" PARTUUID="c8895b7f-01" but when I try to open it with luksOpen: # cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdb1 sdb1_crypted Enter passphrase for /dev/sda1: After entering the passphrase (and Enter), it hangs. The SSH connection times out after 1-2 minutes (where to enlarge?) and there is no HDMI on the HC1, so I am left blind. The disk was created and used in another system and worked perfectly on a Raspberry PI and my Linux PC. I created a key file and added…

  23. Hi! I've been using Armbian on my Odroid XU4 for some months now. It runs LogitechMediaServer, Home-assistant, Openmediavault,... It's great. However, today, I've just ran apt-get upgrade, reboot because of an update of the kernel and then... no reboot! The blue LED of the Odroid is lit (it doesn't blink), there is nothing on the HDMI output, nothing on the network,... It seems like the odroid cannot load the kernel. Is there anything I could do to try to make it boot again ? Yeah, I know, I should have done a backup of the SD card before the update ... Thanks for your help!

Hello. I freshly installed bullseye from the other supported variant links for an odroid XU4. When trying to get docker daemon running, it looked like the ip_tables module and br_netfilter modules weren't available in the kernel. I think I have sorted out ip_tables (modprobe doesn't return any problems now), but docker's daemon is still showing a problem when running dockerd (with debug level info in the daemon.json file): Running modprobe bridge br_netfilter failed with message: modprobe: WARNING: Module bridge not found in directory /lib/modules/5.19.10-armmp-lpae When executing systemctl status docker.service ... …

  25. Hi, I want to try out my Odroid HC2 as an openvpn client. I don't expect great performance but I want to make sure I set it up correctly. This is why I want to ask if anyone can give any recommendations or tweaks for using it as an openvpn client. Idk much about openvpn, I know it uses openssl for de and encryption. Is there a way to use hardware de and encryption so I can speed things up and have a better download speed via openvpn? Or is hw de/encryption maybe already used by default if I just install openvpn package? Any recommendations on how to correctly set this up are appreciated.

  26. Hello, playing around with the HC1 I noticed the lack of the nbd driver within this image. Because of the good documentation and the excellent build chain system I was able quickly to build a installation image solving my needs. My question: are there plans to add the settings necessary for nbd driver generation to the image build configuration ? Otherwise I would have to take care in case of armbian kernel updates. Thanks in advance, Joe62

  27. I recently hooked up my XU4 to a DVD/CD Enclosure, essentially just SATA to USB, and am having an issue mounting the drive. After researching online it seems this is a filesystem issue.
