Hello everyone, As I was looking for to see the cause of not having any free memory left on this BananaPi, I found out that Clamav daemon is using all the free memory (44%), after stopping the service I could again see more free memory. The clamAV was installed I think when I installed apache, mysql using the provided scripts (softy). Is this a normal RAM usage for ClamAV ? Also please can you tell me what I could do to optimize mysql for a low resource server as this, I can see alot of mysql proccesses runing Than k you.

Hi! Can I install a clean Armbian from within Armbian, without flashing a SD-Card? One idea: After installing Armbian, I used the NAND-SATA-install to copy my files to a harddrive. But on the SD-card there is still the old system. Can I switch back to boot the SD-system? Wittenborg

I'm trying to make a master image to install to some NanoPI Neo boards. I have everything running fine from micro SD card. I used armbian-config to flash from SD to the eMMC and it boot and works. Now I'm looking for a way to flash the eMMC from command line in an automatic fashion, after looking for other threads in the forum I found about command nand-sata-install but it has a GUI and no --help parameter, so I guess it is not the exact program I have to use. I tested using dd command to copy the disk, but since there is this u-boot thing I think it is not just a standard disk copy because it failed (maybe my problem). My final idea is to have a master SD …

Hello, I installed last Bionic on a Orange Pi PC+. It's on EMMC. (it used to have an old Armbian Ubuntu with 3.x kernel before) Common settings (background image, GTK theme, icons, panel) are there on logout but are not saved on reboot. I saved a text file in the home user folder, it's OK. With another common user I face the same problem, with the root account settings are saved. My Linux knowledge is average, I really don't know what's wrong. Thank you Mathieu

Hi i did some comparison of NanoPi NEO Kernel 3.4 (Jessie) and kernel 4.4 (Stretch). - Looks like the temperature limit controlling of 4.4 is not working as good as 3.4 (on 4.4 Kernel the CPU reaches more than 85 °C!) - GPIO (wiringPi) has less performance (-4%) - SPI has better performance (10%) - CPU performance is ~6% better (nbench, maybe the newer compiler) - consumption is besser on Kernel 3.4, especially on halt state I did a fork for wiringpi Library to make it work on Armbian Jessie and Stretch https://github.com/mstroh76/WiringNP (so far only for NEO)

Hello everyone! I am trying to set up a CSI camera for my Orange Pi win plus (A64). The camera is GC2035 and I have already seen it not easy with latest versions. New versions of Armbian have not CSI support and do not have drivers gc2035 and vfe_v4l2. I found you can somehow compile the driver but honestly.....I do not understand how. I know the process of ./compile.sh but no idea how to use this https://github.com/avafinger/gc2035 It says is for H3, probably not for A64 right? Looking for the oldest version of Armbian I could use, I found out on the archive this one: Armbian_5.59_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_default_..&g…

Dear Igor, I compiled a kernel (Wheezy mainline) with your script, everything is perfect! There is only one thing, what I don't know how to do: I need to patch rtl28xxu.c before compiling or /even better/ if it possible to compile this module only and overwrite the .ko file at "/lib/modules/4.0.4-bananapi/kernel/.....folder". Could you help me please how can I do that? At line 1612 I need to change: - rc->interval = 400; to this: + rc->interval = 200; Thank you very much! Gyuri

I am compiling the armbian for orangePi3, using the armbian tools ... and the compilation works fine. It works both from the kernel_only and from the entire image But I have a problem with the current version of the kernel, because it turns out that it does not support the hdmi-vga adapter and I would like to compile the 5.07 kernel instead of the 5.10. I have found in the doc but I do not find how to indicate to the compile.sh script that it has to compile version 5.07 of the kernel. Inside the file config-default.conf I do not see where to put the version. The documentation: https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ It is insuffic…

Been trying to compile the handy sysdig util in armbian. Hello! Is there any way to config the frequency used by the DRAM driver when throttling takes place, or even better, disable the DRAM throttling at all? First of all, I have to say that that I'm pushing my Orange Pi Zero H3 board to run at very hot temperatures due to my CPU throttling settings so I can play some retro arcade games (I know I may burn it). But it seems the DRAM driver has its own throttling settings, and it takes place reducing DRAM frequency to 132Mhz. At such DRAM frequency there is flickering at HDMI output. Hi, Looks like kernel config CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DEBUG=y has been set in the Debian Jessie 4.0.4 build. That means, that when I have I/O to a usb-storage device, systemd-journald is consuming ~70-90% CPU time on consuming debug log lines from the kernel. Is this by purpose? How would I be able to filter or disable all this log content from the kernel to journald?

I recently started playing around with OrangePi Zero with the Allwinner H2+ CPU. I want to test out the internal audio DAC. To do so I enabled "analog-coded" in armbian-config. After rebooting I saw a new audio device in the output of "pacmd list-cards", but it says that only mono is available. How can I configure stereo sound? I haven't played around with "/etc/asound.conf" much as I don't understand it. Also, I don't have anything plugged into the audio pins on the GPIO.

I am trying to connect a SNBC receipt printer to my Banana Pi - model number: BTP-r580(II) However, dmesg shows that whilst it is identified as a USB device, it is not identified as a printer (probably not helped by the fact that all of their receipt printers appear to have idVendor = 0x154f and idProduct = 0x154f Whilst their website (http://www.newbeiyang.com) has downloads for linux drivers, once connected there is no /dev/usb nor a dev/ttyUSB0 directory (in case it is recognised as a serial device). Recently I tried to connect CAN bus adapter to my Orange Pi 3 LTS board and it happened that there is not so much information about it, it is outdated or related to other boards. So, after I spent a few days in trials and errors below is my recipe. 1. Connect a CAN interface board. Orange Pi pins are not 5V tolerant, so I decided to use a dedicated 2-channel board from Waveshare: https://www.waveshare.com/2-ch-can-hat.htm (only one channel for the start). You can modify a cheap board from AliExpress though; there are instructions in the Internet. I used the PL10 pin of Orange Pi 3 LTS board as INT pin. Actually first I tried to use the PD21 pin but it seems that…

Of course, I don't have a desktop on the NanoPi Duo, so everything has to be done via command line.

Hello, I'm running a freshly installed armbian with mainline kernel 4.9.5 on my cubietruck. Between u-boot messages and login prompt I don't get any output while booting. I've tried several values for the "console" parameter in the armbianEnv.txt and recompiled the /boot/boot.scr file without success. Hi all, I am hoping there is a straight forward solution to this; I've read this thread on turning on and off the usb OTG using GPIO commands: The concept is really clever and I was hoping to use it as part of my Octoprint 3D printing setup so that I can turn off printer when not in use. The only catch is that the method requires modifying the ./bin/orangepione.bin file which isn't present on my version of Armbian (Buster). TL;DR according to the post I need to 1. convert ./bin/orangepione.bin to FEX, 2. edit the file by adding "usb_drv_vbus_gpio = port:PL02<1><0><default><0>", 3. convert …

I just wanted to share some instructions on how to control all GPIO pins on the OrangePi Zero Plus 2 board. These instructions are meant for newbies but it can be extremely helpful if you are new to Armbian, OPI and GPIO. At least it would have been for me. There is a total of 17 different pins to control according to the schematic below. These pins are highlighted in blue numbers that indicate what GPIO port they are available at. Use these numbers in order to know that pins to control. Look for instructions further down. First off some basics: Activate a pin by exporting it. For example. In order to activate IO-0 run: echo "…

If I convert rootfs to btrfs do I need to rebuild /boot/initrd.img-5.4.20-sunxi. updated to 5.15 (then 5.16) release using aptitude. Kernel update worked. But when I updated u-boot ( linux-u-boot-orangepiplus2e-default ) , the system will no longer boot (see attached). But if I use linux-u-boot-orangepiplus-default , it will boot. (Note that the install script, to write/dd SPL , is hardcoded to mmcblk0, which is usually correct, but for this fix, I start boot on SDHC then pivot-root to eMMC. My running root is mmcblk1 during this "rescue" boot). Both 5.15 & 5.16 exhibit this behavior. Thanks, wha bad-uboot.txt

Hi, I have a orange pi one which I use as a test web server and everything was good so far, the first problem I came a cross that the couchbase server on debian package did'nt support arm, so I skipped that and used another computer as couchbase server, But the problem now is that I can't install the couchbase php client on the orange pi, then I tried the build the libcouchbase my self. I actually did build it (I have no previous experince with build) After I built it I don't know what to do, now I have libcouchbase.so file and other files but I can't still use couchbase php commands. the entry in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq (maybe the path is wrong, I haven't the machine and I'm going by memory) is readable only by root so it is not usable to a normal user to display the current frequency of the processor, There is a way to change this behaviour? My distribution is for Olimex-A20-Micro with legacy kernel 5.14 if i don't go wrong. TIA and regards

Hello, I am using Armbian on a Nanopi Neo Allwinner h3. I build Armbian with the Armbianbuild repository and noticed that the CPU Frequency in all builds (minimal/standard) (buster/focal) are between 480MHz and 1.37GHz, but the H3 Soc only supports up to 1.2GHz. This problem also occurs on the finished builds which are there to download from the Armbian website. Hello all, I'm going to preface by saying that I am not experienced with Pi, Pi clones, or linux, but I know how to google stuff until my fingers bleed and can navigate around a terminal window well enough. I have an Orange Pi Lite, which is running OctoPrint primarily, but does use a few other uses. I am using a prepared Armbian image file. When I login on the console, there is this display with a bunch of information, including the CPU temp. I have need to keep track of my CPU's temp, since it seems to be overheating (I have a heat sink on it, but does not seem to be enough -- I have a fan on order). I want to be able to check the temp from time to time, so I would like to run at least the part of the login banner program. What program is that? I am not seeing anything obvious in /bin.

I'm running a web cam on a OrangePiOne. For the last four days its been performing adequately, at least as well as the RaspiPiZero. At the moment though its suddenly decided to become a snail... slower than paint drying or melting blanc mange. So here I am looking for pointers. I don't have a lot of detail, but what I have follows. I'm using mjpg-streamer to handle the webcam. In the past this has been rock solid without issue, at this point I assume its not the problem in itself. Hi, I have an Orange Pi Zero 3 with Allwinner H618 (1GB RAM version). The CPU specs say up to 1.5 GHz (1512000 kHz), and it hits that fine on other distros (like official Orange Pi Ubuntu images or Debian builds). But on Armbian, max freq is stuck at 1416000 kHz, even on latest kernels. Board: Orange Pi Zero 3 (H618, 1GB RAM) Armbian Version: Armbian Bookworm (fresh SD flash, ran armbian-upgrade after boot) Kernel Versions Tested: 6.12.43-current-sunxi64 6.12.47-current-sunxi64 6.15.4-edge-sunxi64 6.16.8-edge-sunxi64 (current edge, i think) What happens: scaling_available_frequencies only goes up to 1416000. Hi - is there anywhere a working guide to create a Wifi Access Point with this board ? I have tried the official debian ISO from orange pi and doing so with create_ap is very easy. Hi, I have problems with NanoPi NEO on Allwinner H3 due to sudden sporadic Linux kernel overheating shut down. I'm using the Linux kernel 4.14 on Debian Trixie. Even after a reboot command, the system comes up again and is still above un…

If anyone in interested in a lightweight wayland desktop, inspired by openbox, you should try labwc. In orange pi zero 3, we need to stay in bookworm to get video acceleration, so this guide helps build labwc in bookworm As a greeter, I chose pi-greeter, because it is the lightest login manager I could setup, without any X11 https://github.com/robertojguerra/opiz3-labwc-setup I am open to read any improvements, or show me how I could make deb packages. In the near future, I will make a step-by-step video tutorial in Youtube.

Hello every one, I have used crosstool-ng on my Jessie server (x86), and downloaded the linaro toolchain for my Ubuntu (x64 / 16.04) laptop, but ran into a wall both times: the cross-compilers won't (and now that I think about it, can't) link to the host libraries. Do I simply get all the sources for the libraries I want/need, and adjust their configure parameters to point to dedicated directory, and then build my target? Is there an easy way to manage the versions / dependencies to match Jessie (the version on my target OPi)? I am trying to compile Duktape with libreadline, if that matters. Thanks, Steve

[BANANA PI PRO - SO running on SD] So, on every system upgrade I do, I end up with something broken. Normally it won't boot because of some kernel misconfiguration or due the encrypted HDD that I use connected to it. On the last upgrade the same occurred. However, normally, I can solve stuff by myself. This time I couldn't fix everything (yet). I think that the only solution would be me compiling the kernel myself. First the system wouldn't boot. After a few kernel replacements, I could make it boot, kind of. If I have my encrypted LUKS HDD connected to it, it will boot to some degree and hang in there forever. If I take it …

Hello, I'm trying to set up the video streaming on Banana Pi M2. I tried all of the available images, but I can't find the image where the kernel includes ov5640.ko and sunxi_csi0(1).ko modules. Hi, I a couple of days ago, I picked up the Mainline 4.9.7 Jessie image. It ran flawlessly untill last night when I installed samba/minidlna and mounted my hdds (3 usb hdds on a powered USB3 hub and 1 sata 3.5in hdd). When the minidlna was updating its library and keeping cpu usage up and while I was doing some network traffic the CT froze. I thought this was a physical network issue and I bonded the wlan0 and eth0 so that wlan0 acts as backup when eth0 is down. Usually I log on with ssh and keep this headless, but I remembered that I had the tv connected to the hdmi. I attached a pic (sorry for the quality) of the error message. It seems som…

Hi Forum, My CT with "Armbian_5.14_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.6.2" image doesn't shut down. Neither short push of power button nor shutdown -P (issued as root) doesn't really power off the board. First, thank you Igor for the wonderful images! I have a cubieboard1 which I haven't played with for a long time. This week I found Armbian and decided to put it on my CB1. I have an HDMI-to-DVI cable, so I connected CB1 to a Dell monitor with 1280x1024 resolution. I tried several of your images for CB1 and they all stuck during boot with blank screen. After several tries, I decided to try on a real HDMI with 1920x1080 resolution. Of course it worked. Did some google search and found out I can change one parameter in the boot.cmd/boot.scr from disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60 to disp.screen0_output_mode=EDID:1920x1080p60 and it will try to auto select screen re…

Hello, I have a cubieboard 2 (the one with only one SD slot) and there is a version of Linaro that is bootable in the NAND memory. I created a card with Debian Jessie Server (the last one) and boot it successfully, but when I run nand-sata-install I get a "No targets available. Please check your drives" pop up. I tried downloading the Debian Wheezy and creating a card and on that one I can see the nand memory blocks, but don't have the script to install and the one that came by default only installs to SATA (not to NAND). Anything I may be doing wrong here??

The official images hosted on sunxi servers are different between the "normal" version (with NAND) and mine (with two sd slots, 1 for boot and 1 for data, but no NAND). It could be this the problem? Hi I have a cubieboard 2 and i used cubian but now i need to use jessie so i moved to armbian jessie. I try both vanilla et legacy headless img. I have a razberry connected to gpio and i use ethernet cable. For both img, first boot is ok but after i have a big bug at "stop autoboot". I join two picture from the HDMI output. Sometime after several reboot (hard reboot) it works but not well, for example i can't access to ssh and some services don't work anymore, mysql for example. I try different sd card and when i try cubian x1, it works well (but wheezy ) Thank

I have a cubieboard2 running Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip and when I ran a seemingly innocent "npm search" command, the system became extremely slow. It responded to pings, but SSH commands were taking many minutes to complete. I was able to grab a screenshot of "top" while it was in this state (attached). Root is on SD, I set up a 1GB swap partition over SATA. My questions are: * Is setting up a 1GB swap partition over SATA a bad idea? * Why do all of the processes suddenly report 100% CPU when main memory runs out? * How can I prevent this in the future? * Is there any other diagnostics or tests that can help determine the root cause? Thanks…
