Hello, I am new to Orange PI and Armbian. I try to configure orange pi to run chineese LCD 5 inch screen via HDMI. I managed to do that using lubuntu downloaded from orangepi server. I changed fex file to what I found on the internet: [clock] pll_video = 321 [disp_init] disp_init_enable = 1 disp_mode = 0 screen0_output_type = 3 screen0_output_mode = 2 screen1_output_type = 3 screen1_output_mode = 2 fb0_width = 720 fb0_height = 480 fb0_scaler_mode_enable = 1 fb0_pixel_sequence = 2 fb0_format = 4 fb0_framebuffer_num = 2 fb1_width = 720 fb1_height = 480 fb1_scaler_mode_enable = 1 fb1_pixel_sequen…

Hello ! Aftert installing new image (Armbian_5.04_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_3.4.110) onto Banana PI, I can't start desktop, startx command is not recognized. Neither root or normal user. Any idea wha't going on? Regards! Mladen, Herzegovina

I'm currently running ARMBIAN 5.25 Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.10.12-sunxi on my Cubietruck, which otherwise works fine as a headless data and media server. However, as I don't need any Bluetooth service whatsoever in the given environment, I have been trying to get rid of it - in vain. Is there a safe and lasting method of preventing the Bluetooth module from loading on reboot? Can it be stripped from the system at all completely? Many thanx in advance

Hello! I build my own image using the provided scripts. I want to be able to run a headless opi system just with ethernet and two usb wireless interfaces. The lastest build works fine when you are using it but doesn't boot if a HDMI cable is not connected. If you boot it with a HDMI plugged in there is no problem, boot ok, ethernet up and all right. I think that could be a configuration of u-boot but there isn't config files in the filesystem of the pi. Anybody kwow the solution? Thanks!

I recently updated from very old Armbian image. The update was not smooth so I had to re-image my device with the newest version. After that USB devices cannot be detected at all. I tried USB keyboard and 3D printer (is should looks like generic serial device). Keyboard works perfectly during u-boot but stops working as soon as kernel starts. lsusb doesn't show any devices: $ lsusb -t /: Bus 09.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=musb-hdrc/1p, 480M /: Bus 08.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci-platform/1p, 12M /: Bus 07.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci-platform/1p, 12M /: Bus 06.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci-platform/1p, 12M /: Bus…

Hi all, I am new to this forum. I just got a Orange Pi plus 2E. The specs are nice and the price is competitive. However, I don't seem to find an image with gpu working well. No hardware acceleration available. This means I cannot use chrome properly / watch videos / play web games with WebGL. From armbian website / logs: Mali OpenGL ES does not work on H3 boards with 2GB RAM (Orange Pi Plus 2, Orange Pi Plus 2e) Any idea when will the Mali driver work on 2GB RAM models? The OPi is nowhere near usable right now. Thanks!

Hi there, I've just got my first H3 board (OPi Zero +2) and I'm interested in learning how boot process works in detail, with a focus on Security ID features. As far I can see there's not that much documentation about S/NBROM (essentially linux-sunxi's Wiki and Allwinner-info git repo) and what's supposed to be H3's NBROM (header 1100, 1100, 1633) looks like slightly different from A10's one (from git) at first glance. Is there anyone here who has already worked on it and/or has info/symbols/pseudocode/whatever might speed up the reversing process? Thank you!

I have an Orange Pi PC that I bought from eBay a while ago and it works absolutely fine, has done for a month or so now. I have just bought 5 more from Xunlong's Aliexpress store, they arrived very quickly, however they don't appear to boot... Power rails are fine, 24MHz clock is fine, reset line is fine, fel mode registers with my PC fine, however no UART output, no apparent attempt to boot from the SD card. If boot it with the SD card in, I get absolutely nothing, if I boot it without the SD card, it gets into FEL mode and I can talk to it with sunxi-fel nick@nick-desktop:~/sunxi-tools$ sudo ./sunxi-fel ver AWUSBFEX soc=00001680(H3) 00000001 ver=0001 44 0…

So I did the following today: Spoiler sed -i /deb/s/jessie/stretch/g /etc/apt/sources.list $ sed -i /deb/s/jessie/stretch/g /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade Everything went fine except at the end where it complained about busybox not being there and it failed the update of initramfs... This was no issue. I installed busybox, rebooted, ran apt-get autoremove and then autoclean and everything worked fine. I was still on kernel 3.x, so I ran armbian-config but I did not see the latest kernel present in the switch kernel option. I ran apt-get install linux-image.next.sunxi (or some…

How enable UART1 (pin 8 and pin 10) or UART2 (pin 11 and pin 13) I re-read a lot of documentation but did not find a solution, everyone writes abstractly. There is a concrete decision how to include it for orange pi (zero or one) and armbian. Correctly I understand that UART1 is ttyS1 and UART2 is ttyS2?????? p.s. I have an issue with armbian installed oPI PC+. I have it in a case with a cooling fan installed and connected to 2 GPIO pins. My question is: could the cooling fan connection be the cause for my oPI PC+ won't shut down from the power supply and keeps running in the background after i shut down armbian? Any suggestions, I haven't tried starting without the cooling fan yet.

I need/want USB ethernet via OTG. I've wasted over 16 hours trying to get the g_ether module to work. A prominent poster told me that all recent Armbian images have this ability, just follow the directions... It's not. I'm using the stock Armbian image from this website, and I've updated it via "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade". Still no luck. The OTG connection currently shows up as a USB serial gadget, but I want a USB Ethernet gadget.

Hi, I am trying to use the two UARTS on the I/O pins which are UART 1 and UART 2 mapped to PG6/PG7 and PA0/PA1 respectively. I have had a look at the FEX file and these seem to be mapped correctly to UARTS's port 1 & 2 so I would expect these to be mapped to /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/ttyS2 but this does not seem to be the case. If I try to connect to these UARTs using screen I simply get the message: - root@orangepizero:~# screen /dev/ttyS1 9600 [screen is terminating] I have tried searching these forums and Google but have not really found anything - any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. OPiPC2, with Armbian Bionic desktop mainline based kernel 4.19.y Using it as headless server, all X and desktop stuff removed. Using PuTTY to log in via SSH, line drawing stuff (as usual) only works if translation is set to ISO-8859-1 in PuTTY. mc looks great, but all ncurses-based software (aptitude, htop, bmon etc) does not. Main problem seems that horizontal spacing is "shrunk" whenever there is no text to keep it: This is even more dramatic for menu systems and anything that is column-oriented. Tried dpkg-reconfigure locales to switch system to ISO-8859, but no change, really seems to be an ncurses bug. No such problem…

I have the Orange Pi Zero - working using last week's nightly build which has the WIFI intact and I've since updated using the usual apt-get upgrade. The WIFI is awful - wired is fine - I'm using Xenial - nmtui to setup - and I have two issues - despite turning off WIFI power management and being no more than 3ft away from the (new) access point - WIFI is so sluggish you can tell when typing into a terminal!! Also despite what nmtui should do - if I turn off the access point (simulating an issue with say power) and back on, the Orange Pi Zero will NOT reconnect even minutes later without rebooting. Anyone have ideas as to (a) how to improve the WIFI to make it us…

There appears to be a problem or incompatibility with the new 2018.05 u-boot configuration and/or implementation and the Armbian sunxi-next startup scripts (both in the current master branch). The "fdt" command processing doesn't appear to properly expand local environment variables before trying to execute them (?). Here's an example from a vanilla Armbian boot (u-boot 2018.05) - notice the "libfdt fdt_path_offset() returned FDT_ERR_NOTFOUND" errors when the DT fixup script runs: ... Err: serial Net: No ethernet found. 230454 bytes read in 15 ms (14.7 MiB/s) starting USB... No controllers found Autoboot in 1 seconds, press <Space> to…

Hi all, everytime I turn on my Nano Pi it will sync the clock using NTP. When network is not enabled it will rewind the time to something that I still can't comprehend. I found lots of topics about people talking about how to add a RTC to the system, but none talking about the current RTC that is recognized by the kernel. Currently when the system is powered off and on (10 seconds distance) without network the time will rewind between 5 and 15 minutes. I understand that this happens because there is no RTC to write the current clock and battery to keep it. But there is obviously a RTC somewhere because removing power from the device and putting it back will keep a wrong b…

I encountered a very strange boot behavior on OrangePI Plus 2E. When I boot from SD card with the desktop Armbian image, I'm having just an input of some color on HDMI (photo attached). No U-boot output on screen, but considering UART output both U-boot and system boot with no errors (log file is attached). Boot with the server Armbian image goes just fine, except no U-boot output on screen (only on UART) and screen resolution is 1280x720, while native resolution for the display is 1920x1080. Until recently everything worked just fine with both desktop and mainline images, and U-boot giving proper output on screen in 10920x1080 resolution. What I tried so far: …

Hello everyone, I've been trying to find a list of the differences between Armbian and a classic Debian Install. Could you please help me with that? I'm asking this question because I currently have Armbian running from an SD card on a Cubieboard 1, and would like to install Debian to an encrypted SATA drive instead. I think I will follow this installation guide with the netboot SD card image. Once I have a Debian for the armhf arch, is there something else I should do to make my system as compatible as possible with the Cubieboard? I know I can reduce the amount of reserved memory assigned to various video devices. I could maybe try to look into the Security …

Looking for recommended LCD screens for NanoPi Neo and Orange Pi Zero. I have some IoT ideas I want to explore. Does not have to be touch, and I'm pretty flexible on screen size. Actually, would like a couple of different screen sizes but bigger than an 128x64 OLED (I have that). Must be color. At least 320x240, preferably something 320x480. I just got two Orange Pi Zero systems today and want to create a couple of IoT devices along with the two NanoPi Neo systems I got recently. Performance does NOT have to be ideal, just reasonable (not going to game on it or watch action movies). The Zero means HDMI is not an option; given that, what interface is best - …

Hello, I had a telecommunication technician logged onto my router + later that night a power outage. Now my pi (not sure before or after or related to anything), now the lights go on the pi (both + the one on the network), I can see it on the router with an IP but that is it. I can't logon to it on that IP with Putty nor can I ping it from the console on the PC. I tried now 3-4 of the builds (older ones, one official one and so on) with the flash card, but always the same. I don't have an USB to TTL converter to try that route. Is there anything else I can do? There is no way to do a hard reset, right?

I am currently trying to upgrade my kernel from 3.4 to 4.14 and it is working quite well for my needs. But i have a problem i have not found a solution for, i can not set the PE00-11 pins as gpios. Acutally i cant set or configure them at all. I am using the /sys/class... export and writing via echo direction and value. For all other GPIOs it works perfectly fine exept for those 12 (and the IR0-pins PB3 and PB4, those are also not accessible). I tried really a lot already: stripping down the kernel to only the most essential modules, deactivating almost everything in the dts file, using different images... but in essence, as soon as i c…

Using Armbian_20.02.1 with 5.4 kernel on NEO2 board, I'm running into an issue trying to get the USB OTG working with the g_ether module. When I run modprobe g_ether I see the following in dmesg: [ 490.490582] udc-core: couldn't find an available UDC - added [g_ether] to list of pending drivers I've also tried compiling my own img using the Armbian builder but it looks like all the correct OTG options are already selected by default. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Nano Pi Neo, Armbian (Armbian_5.27.170422_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.10.11) External USB device works fine when connected via USB-A jack, but doesn't work when connected to 2.54 pin header (2,3). Is there some additional steps to activate internal (usb1, usb2) ports, or it's hardware problem?

Hi Guys, I bought one of these pcDuino 4 (Nano Pi M1) boards: http://www.linksprite.com/pcduino4-nano/ Works great with Armbian Legacy Kernal. I got this screen with the HDMI + DSI Driver Board. Works fine with normal PC -> HDMI output but will not work with the Nano Pi.. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/LS055R1SX04-1440x2560-5-5-2K-LCD_60672828148.html?spm=a2700.7724838.2017115.1.3c93b095HGc0XS The LCD screen just turns on then off and on and off forever. Hi, I've been playing around with a OPi Win+ which is aint bad but full support seems a while off ... I'm looking for a quad core, 2G, good wifi with external antenna and this seems to fit the requirements. I dont care too much about hdmi but if it works all the better. I was just wondering what current owners thought of it. Can the internal wifi do AP mode and will it do dual modes ... hostapd-8188 will create wlan0 & wlan1 so that you both connect to an AP and be an AP. Google doesnt show much about 8189ETV Given that the armbian download shows it with a legacy kernel but stable I expect that everything 'works' ... …

Hello. First of all sorry if this isn't a place to post this. I recently bought an orange pi one. And I'm using Armbian OS. (Latest version downloaded from Armbian website) But there seems to be a problem with WiFi and i searched all over the internet and i didn't found anything about it. So here is how it was: First time that i wrote the Armbian OS on the SD card and configured it (as said by the Armbian website I didn't connected the WiFi dongle) and after doing those stuff I did connected the WiFi dongle to it. It worked fine, but after some mins both LEDs were on. And nothing was working. I did the things I said above many times and the same happend. And once I d…

My Orange Pi Prime freezes when compiling anything major (Ruby, CPython). It completely locks up halfway through. No error or kernel panic from serial either. HDMI output goes black. I've tried: Better cooling, different brand SD cards (Sandisk Ultra, Samsung Evo from reputable suppliers), different power supplies, and even disabling swap. Tried my Lab Bench Power Supply at 5.00, 5.10, 5.20 and 5.35 volt, volt drop is about 0.1 volt measured at the board, and power usage at 400-700mA depending on the load. Tried `stress` in all sorts of configurations for times up to 1 hour, this does not crash the board. Iozone also does not crash the …

Hello, My problem is that curl tries to use ipv6 to resolve DNS entries and my home modem-router doesn't handle ipv6 so curl fails and fallbacks to ipv4. I have a non compliant usb device that I want to work with my Orange Pi Lite board. I know how to make it work under Arch linux. One way is to set up a development environment on a PC, with Virtual Box running Ubuntu Xenial, etc. Recompile the whole armbian and copy the compiled kernel module over to Orange Pi Lite. Below are supplementary quotes helpful to asking the question: can CPU presets be made into a desktop shortcut that could allow pre-defined CPU freq settings whether onthe fly or even reboot required? Is so, what would the code be? That's the question I can't answer. I ask because of the two Beelink X2s (one each of Armbian flavors); I'd like to get a hands-on feel for how high the temps can be expected to go. I probably won't be running hot for long, but then again I just received a bag of heat sinks and can also drill holes in the plastic box for better air circulation. QUOTE 1 for reference: Some boards allow to adjust CPU speed. nano…

Video encoding and decoding in G31-MP2 is something separated from what Mesa and panfrost would do, so even if those work i cant get video acceleration with h.264 etc. …

Hi Everyone. I intend to use this sbc with a hdmi to lcd controller (not yet arrived). I noticed the predefined resolutions do not include 1366x768. I tested on a smart tv and I with the closest resolution of 1360x768, there was a vertical purple line on the left. I could probably live with the slightly lower resolution, however if the purple line appears on my final setup, how do I remove this or is there anyway to run the full 1366x768? I have tried 1280x720 in windows and it blurs the text so that seems to be out of the questions for me. Regards, Rauli

Hi, Armbian gurus, I'm trying to make the build system to build image with LibreELEC kernel tree for PineH64 I heard the kernel is patched for being better at hardware decoding Here are what I have done in order: 1. Modify config/sources/families/include/sunxi64_common.inc to make KERNEL_SOURCE = my previous repo; KERNELBRACH = master. To make it fetchable during bilding. 3. Hello, I have just bought a bananaPro. I would like to learn a little by installing armbian and enabling the video acceleration. Currently, I have no LCD display, so I would start to install Debian Wheezy or Debian Jessie (legacy) so that to be able to log in through ssh. Nevertheless, on the download page for bananaPro it is said that "Mali drivers fails to compile". Is this driver mandatory for video acceleration to work ? I figured out it was rather related to cedarX. Then, which armbian image is best suited ? Thanks in advance for some piece of advice. Best regards deb2016

Hi Armbians I am running mulitiple TOR network relays on Cubietruck boards (Cubieboard 3) in different Datacenters with synchronous 100 MBit/s internet connection each board (by ethernet plug) for 1- 1,5 years now. The boards are running the latest Armbian build with kernel headers installed and full firmware package. But now, as you can see here, my Cubietrucks are getting slower after time, with the network traffic they can handle via eth0: https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#details/EC9C4CDB403204731122C9D3FA44DFAE6…

I have a NanoPi Neo Air (Allwinner H3 SoC) with onboard wifi and a serial interface. Unfortunately during some late hour hacking I managed to accidentally connect 5V onto its TX pin, I think effectively screwing up its UART0. I can no longer connect to it via a USB to TTL Serial cable. Looking at the NeoPi Nano Air's pinout diagram, it seems to have more UART devices (UART1 and UART2 even) so I wonder whether there's a way to set up armbian to communicate via these during boot? Another idea I had was to try to bypass the UART completely and to hook up the board via the wifi. Now, without having any access to a serial console, I need to …

Hi there, Armbian with 3.4.x Kernel has been running fine on my CubieTruck until upgrading to 5.25. I am using Orange Pi Zero Plus(http://www.orangepi.org/OrangePiZeroPlus/), but there's no armbian for it. I download armbian for Orange Pi PC2(here) and it works! However, PC2 does not have on-board wifi, so my zero plus cannot find a wlan device. The onboard wifi of zero plus is Realtek RTL8189FTV, and the driver source seems to be this I compile it on my orange pi and add "modprobe mac80211" before "insmod", it is loaded but there is still no wlan0 device So what should I do to enable wifi?

Hello Armbian users ! I use "ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.112-sun8i" installed on EMMC and Orange Pi Plus 2e . Can you explain two things about Armbian ? My image is: Armbian_5.14_Orangepiplus2e_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 1. Why do I have max CPU clocked at 1296.0000 Mhz ? I read the Orange Pi Plus 2e have Quad Core 1,6 Ghz, right ? shell> /usr/bin/cpufreq-set -d 912MHz -u 1600MHz -g on demand # does not work . 2. My Armbian is installed on eMMC 16gb, I use very good script writer by Igor Pecovnik . How can I boot orangepi with on eMMC and with a second SD card ( for samba ) ? Partition: 1. /dev/mmcblk0p1 - boot - Armbian on eM…

Hey guys, I was wondering why the Browsers doesnt support H/W Acceleration, now i found out its because the Mali Driver is outdated. I installed also Chromium and forced it to use the GPU, well at least it trys but i got a bunch of errors. Is there a way to add a new Driver? Tried also to compile it myself but i was never that deep into linux and never had to compile drivers, here are the sources: http://malideveloper.arm.com/resources/drivers/open-source-mali-utgard-gpu-linux-kernel-drivers/ I think the current Kernel uses a horrible outdated r3p0 Version and a new one is r7p0, at least r4p0 is needed which should work with Chromium and finally add H/W Accelerat…

Hi I'm trying to understand how to enable Uart 2 for serial communication with a mcu on the banana pi (trying to connect a board running klipper to it). I connected the Uart of the board to CON1-P08 and CON1-P10 of the Banana PI M3 according to all i can find those pins are tx/rx for UART2. So far i figured out that the UART should be one of the /dev/ttyS* ones if i'm not mistaken, I can see /dev/ttyS to /dev/ttyS7 but am missing the /dev/ttyS1 user@bananapim3:~$ ls /dev/tty* /dev/tty /dev/tty11 /dev/tty15 /dev/tty19 /dev/tty22 /dev/tty26 /dev/tty3 /dev/tty33 /dev/tty37 /dev/tty40 /dev/tty44 /dev/tty48 /dev/tty51 …

Hello, for my BananaPi I recently downloaded "Armbian_21.05.1_Bananapi_buster_current_5.10.34.img" and did not get the on-board CAN controller working with this image. I found out that in sun7i-a20-bananapi.dtb (uses sun7i-a20.dtsi) the group name for the CAN pins PH20 and PH21 has changed from "can0_pins_a" to "can_ph_pins" but in the sun7i-a20-can overlay this change had not been done accordingly, and the DT merging failed. So changing "sun7i-a20-can.dts" to: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun7i-a20"; fragment@0 { target = <&can0>; __overlay__ { pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&can_…

Hi, Nanopi M1 is so similar to Orange Pi One that you can use the amazing work provided by jernejsk and run Openelec using the VPU of the H3. Here are the links : * Main page * prebuilt images list * Github project * The issue I've opened I'm using the embedded IR Sensor with my remote (that was the toughest part) and the only modification I made was to change to cpufreq governor from performance to conservative but if you use the latest image you shouldn't have to do that. Well so far so good. I'm using a little heat sink and the cpu temperature is between 60°C and 80°C depending of the video I'm playing.

Hi everyone, I bought an Orange Pi oneas a cheap replacement for the unobtainable Raspberry Pi Zero for a little Emulation project. Right now I don't know if it was the right decision:) I wanted to add a waveshare 3.5" display to the orange pi, but I don't even get there. I downloaded the armbian distribution v5.10 legacy Jessy desktop. After the start of the desktop, icons, the taskbar and open windows disappear at random, icons return but the taskbar does not, The desktop is unusable. A similar problem happens in the console, I don't see the cursor where I'm typing. On the command line, thats acceptable but using an editor like nano I have no idea where I am. …

Hi! I have a Hackberry and i've tried to install Debian jessie for Cubieboard. First I have installed a legacy version; hackberry boot up correctly but my keyboard don't work so i have replaced script.bin and overwrited u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin with the latest version (http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/nightly/u-boot-sunxi/u-boot-sunxi/u-boot-sunxi-latest/) and it's work. Then i've try to use Vanilla version. As the same, hackberry boot up correctly but my keyboard don't work. I've tried to recompile boot.cmd with correct dtb but nothing changed. Then i've tried to create uImage from zImage (linked to vmlinuz-4.2.3-sunxi) and overwrite u-boot.bin with the latest (…

hi, I made a program on Orange pi minus (kernel 3.X)using wpa_supplicant for wifi direct. That worked fine (basically). But i have been asked to do it on Orange pi plus with Kernel 4.9. The wifi works when i using nmtui, but when i made a iw list i couldn't find my material and i am not able to configure P2P. I think the problem is the kernel version and not the Hardware because my card with kernel 3.X works on orange pi pc plus. So i am a bit lost, what can i do ? My guest is to modify the realtek module ? I am not sure if i am on the right direction... Thanks, Ps: Sorry for my english.
