Hello all, I've been struggling to build Armbian for the Orange Pi Pc all day today, it worked fine yesterday then today nothing. I've just been looking through the repo at github and it appears that all of the patches for building sun8i-h3.dtsi etc have been moved to linux-dev does this mean that from now on we need to build the dev kernel not the next kernel for H3 devices?

So i'm using Orange Pi PC with the latest armbian desktop image. I've noticed this issues: -Booting takes a long time with wifi adapter (realtek 8188etv), stucks at "lsb raise network interfaces" for 2 minutes, than continues -Browsing shares via thunar results in this error -No chrome/midori in repos ?

Hi I have a cubieboard 2 and i used cubian but now i need to use jessie so i moved to armbian jessie. I try both vanilla et legacy headless img. I have a razberry connected to gpio and i use ethernet cable. For both img, first boot is ok but after i have a big bug at "stop autoboot". I join two picture from the HDMI output. Sometime after several reboot (hard reboot) it works but not well, for example i can't access to ssh and some services don't work anymore, mysql for example. I try different sd card and when i try cubian x1, it works well (but wheezy ) Thank

Hello every one, I have used crosstool-ng on my Jessie server (x86), and downloaded the linaro toolchain for my Ubuntu (x64 / 16.04) laptop, but ran into a wall both times: the cross-compilers won't (and now that I think about it, can't) link to the host libraries. Do I simply get all the sources for the libraries I want/need, and adjust their configure parameters to point to dedicated directory, and then build my target? Is there an easy way to manage the versions / dependencies to match Jessie (the version on my target OPi)? I am trying to compile Duktape with libreadline, if that matters. Thanks, Steve

Hello, Is possible to connect my printer to the USB OTG with an adapter ? The printer (HP PSC1215) is pretty old and doesn't have an ethernet port, so I would like to share it over network with my OPI One. The native usb port is used already. I was thinking to buy an adapter USB OTG to USB and to connect the printer here. I'm asking here because I'm not very sure how does OTG works. I'm running ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i. Thanks !

I noticed that the Nano Pi Neo has a pin or 2 labeled 3.3V out. How much current is available from this source? I have a CODEC and a few other things that need 3.3V power. I need to know what the 3.3V output can deliver safely, or if I should just add my own 3.3 regulator for the external circuitry.

Hi to all, sorry if it is already described anywhere. I found some similar issues but no solution, except ...has to be modified.. or anything similar. Two days ago I updated my Armbian Jessie server on may Cubietruck with apt-get update && apt-get upgrade After that my homeautomation didn't show the SoC temperature any more. first I looked for an error in the software, then after a lot of reboots I noticed the temperature also missing in the armbian startscreen. The command cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp was responsed by cat: /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/t…

Greetings. For anyone interested FriendlyArm have a Github repo which contains a working AW CSI driver. and has device tree files for NanoPi M1+ and Neo Air. See https://github.com/friendlyarm/linux.git. The branch is sunxi-4.16.y This is a work in progress but the setup is vastly simplified compared to the VFE subsystem in the 3.4/3.10 kernels. The OV5640 driver does produce video but I'm getting some odd images at the moment. Possibly colorspace related. Hardware setup :: Olimex Lime 2 Rev.k + 7" LCD + 5V power supply through the power jack. No battery is connected to the lime 2 board. Dear friends. I am trying to initialize my opi lite 2 without success. I'm using a power source, that's ok! I measured the voltage on the RX pin and I have 3.2v. The TX pin at very low voltage. Hi all, everytime I turn on my Nano Pi it will sync the clock using NTP. When network is not enabled it will rewind the time to something that I still can't comprehend. I found lots of topics about people talking about how to add a RTC to the system, but none talking about the current RTC that is recognized by the kernel. Currently when the system is powered off and on (10 seconds distance) without network the time will rewind between 5 and 15 minutes. I understand that this happens because there is no RTC to write the current clock and battery to keep it. But there is obviously a RTC somewhere because removing power from the device and putting it back will keep a wrong b…

Hello Igor, first of all thank you very much for your efforts. I used Armbian in the past and wanted install some up-to-date version. However this fails/hangs independent of selected OS either at 'armbian-resize-filesystem' or 'Flush Journal to persistent storage'. The first boot may take some >15min if succeeds. However i can't login after as it accepts no keyboard input. I started testing upwards from very old version (sorry, i downloaded many and only few by Torrent, but i did send you some donation to cover this). Up to Armbian_20.08.2_xxx_5.8.6 it works well, irrespective of debian/ubuntu flavor. So, the bug came with Armbian_20.11…

Hello, Thank you for your work and the images you provide. I am making some test with A20-OLinuXino-Lime and A20-OLinuXino-Lime2 with the purpose to make debian bootable from a NAND. I have three questions: 1. what is the procedure to customize and compile a new kernel (which source repos do you use, on which defconfig is based your work) ? This is to remove/add some features according to my needs 2. when you say "NAND is not supported yet." on the download page, do you mean Debian won't boot at all if installed on NAND ? Is it only because of kernel configuration or anything else ? And when do you think NAND support should be available ? 3. what is …

I recently bought an Orange Pi Lite and installed Armbian on it. Everything works fine except I can't write to USB drive. I'm not logged in as root. USB mounts automatically but other users can't seem to write to it. I searched this issue on the internet but could not figure out how to change permission as this is the first time I'm using a Linux machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is what I see when I open up USB properties. Thank you.

Hello Armbian-Folks, more than two years ago I purchased a CubieTruck and installed Cubian with kernel 3.4.79 on the microSD. The system is running since then and serving as airprint server, boinc client and monitoring device for my internet connection. Basically I use it more or less as a headless server. Now I would like to have this system more future ready and looking for an upgrade path. The kernel is quite old and the distro is based still on debian wheezy. Also Cubian is dead and not maintained anymore. Are you able to help or provide some good starting tipps to upgrade my system to new kernel and maybe armbian (debian jessy) as distro? I was search…

The rtl8189etv wifi module on the orange pi r1 is not integrated into the main PCB. From photos on the web there seem to be such wifi modules with little pins which maybe can just be plugged in like some kind of hat but there are also versions without pins. Does anyone know if the wifi module on the opi r1 can be just unplugged or do the pins need to be cut or desoldered? Are there any issues to expect when removing the module. Wifi won't work obviously, but anything beyond that ?

Hi. I want to use uart on 500000 baudrate. Before i had used it with ARMBIAN 5.32. But i had some problems about board temperature. Hey there. I used to run an Octoprint server on my Orange Pi Zero H2+ installed over armbian, which got swapped with a raspberry pi for unimportant reasons. I wanted to switch back, but for all of the armbian builds listed here for Orange Pi Zero, I am just getting a green light on the board and some blinking of the orange indicator only from the Ethernet Jack. Is this expected? This is happening with multiple SD-cards an two Orange Pi Zeros. All of the OS images from http://www.orangepi.org/ seem to work just fine, as well as an old "debian_server_for_orangepizero_v0_9_2.img" I found, so I'm going that route for now. But I can't image this is expecte…

Hardware: Orange Pi Zero 512MB LTS (several different devices), bench power supply, good SD card - everything working good at all clock speeds from 480MHz upwards (all the way up to 1.4GHz even, with a heatsink). ffmpeg encode, stress-ng etc. are all fine. Specifically, the board is rock solid at 960MHz. What I want to achieve: take the U-boot for OPi Zero, and rebuild with an adjusted config to achieve a faster boot time, by replacing CONFIG_SYS_CLK_FREQ=480000000 with CONFIG_SYS_CLK_FREQ=960000000. I usually attach a GPS module to OrangePi One to act as a GPS ntp server . GPS serial data can use any UART port. but PPS pulse can use PA7 or UART_RTS, I most connect to PA7, works very well. Recently I bought a GPS modules for Rasberry Pi, it connect the PPS to pin 12, in One it's PD14 But when I set param_pps_pin=PD14 in armbianEnv.txt , it can't work at all . see /sys/kernel/debug/gpio , there is no GPIO 110 (PD14) at all. So don't use PD14 as a PPS pulse input.

Your kernel does not appear to be compiled with support for unprivileged user namespaces (CONFIG_USER_NS=y), or something else is preventing creation of user namespaces. This feature is critical for sandboxing. Arch Linux is known to ship with a kernel that disables this feature; if you are using Arch, you will unfortunately need to compile your own kernel (see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36969).If you are not using Arch, and don't know why your system wouldn't have user namespaces, please file a bug against Sandstorm so we can figure out what happened. .....anyone? Thanks! (going to try compiling now, but figured I'd ask.…

I know Banana pi had issues in the past connecting at gigabit speeds. I thought that was a fixed problem, though. I did a fresh Jessie server install today and it still connects at 100 megabit. Is there a user action that must be taken? According to http://linux-sunxi.org/LeMaker_Banana_Pi the GMAC wasn't supported in the community kernel but should be in later kernels. Is this still an issue? How does one set GMAC_TX_DELAY to 3? Is that a config file thing or a patch that needs to be applied? Are other Banana Pi owners just living with 100 megabit speeds? A bit of system information: ~> uname -a Linux bananapi 4.6.3-sunxi #7 SMP Tue Jul 5 16:23:41…

Hi All, I'm new here, well been lurking a while reading heaps, just not posting before now. My Orange Pi's arrived a few days ago so I have been playing, I have Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112 image on both types and am able to connect to home wifi and do apt-get update/upgrade so all good here. One thing I wanted to do is use batman-adv, but the kernel module seems to have been disabled on the armbian images: @orangepipcplus:~# cat /boot/config-3.4.112-sun8i |grep BATMAN # CONFIG_BATMAN_ADV is not set It took me a while to figure out how to confirm this was the case but another post pointed me to the /boot/config-3.4.112-sun8i file. So this is where I need so…

Hello, I am new to orange PIs and got a "OPi PC plus" a few weeks ago. After some research I found out, that armbian ist the best OS for me In the past I tried with effort to set up a 3G / Lan / WIFI Router with USB / Samba share to have mobile network and files. It works like a charm, outer that I can not get more than 72.2 mbps to my wifi clients. Today I had many time to search and first result is, that the neighbor scan will reduce to 20MHz channels because of detected overlapping APs. With a patched version of hostapd you should be able to set 40MHz channels by overriding the scan. Infos here: https://www.brunsware.de/blog/gentoo/hostapd-40…

I'm using CT with Armbian 5.25(mainline) server version. The system hangs on every Sundays, and this is the 3rd time, since it hanged two weeks ago for the first time. When I connected a monitor with it, it says.. mmcblk0 : error -5 sending status command, retrying blk_update_request : I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 1503312 .... similar messages are repeated.. I have no idea what causes this. I do not use CRON. I installed these packages. Mpd, nginx, nfs server, samba server, deluge-daemon, pure-ftpd, Resilio Sync. Can anyone help me?

Hi I need to execute some command when system is going down for halt/poweroff. I need to know this inside my script /etc/init.d/myScript which is called when system is going down. I used to do it by checking $runlevel variable and if it is set to 0, then system was going down for halt, it was working for instance in Raspbian a few years ago. However, in my Linux cubieboard2 4.9.12-sunxi Armbian this variable is not set, and when I execute "runlevel" command inside "STOP" case in myScript it says it is in N 5 runlevel which is not true because I have executed poweroff All tips are welcome Best Regards Marek

I have two orange pi zero H2+ boards. Using kernel 3.4 they get very hot, and wlan0 also is not very stable. I upgraded to version 4.11 kernel using Armbian_5.32_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.7.img. I was able to have a much cooler orangepi, and also wlan0 appears in iwconfig. I ran "apt update" and "apt upgrade" When I boot the upgraded kernel wlan0 does not appear. I reimaged the sdcard again using the above image, but now wlan0 still is no longer there. I switched to my other orange pi, and wlan0 works. I won't upgrade the kernel and run it on this orange pi. I now have one orange pi with wifi, and one wit…

In this post tkaiser says disabling HDMI and the GPU on H3 boards can reduce power consumption by 200mW. Is it possible to do this on a headless Orange Pi Zero 2+ H5? I don't believe I can use h3consumption or edit FEX files because I'm on the H5 mainline kernel. I tried setting monitor=none in armbianEnv.txt, but I didn't notice any appreciable difference using an inline USB power meter.

Hey all, I just bought an Orange Pi PC Plus and I intend to use it as an access point for multiple networks. According to https://renaudcerrato.github.io/2016/10/01/virtual-ssid-hostapd/ I used "iw list" to check if the wifi card supports multiple SSIDs. And it looks like it isn't. iw list displays "interface combinations are not supported" Is that just a driver/kernel issue or does the card really don't support multiple SSIDs? Cheers, luphi

Any idea on how to flash the internal MMC on a Neo Core 2? Cheers! Robert

I successfully installed Armbian 20.08.1 to eMMC, and it works fine. Now, I want to try Raspberry OS (I'm told that it works?) but regardless of what I put on my uSD card (I've tried several OS's) - when rebooting the OPi 3+, it always comes up with the eMMC Armbian load. In researching this, I read over and over that the uSD card always has priority over the eMMC. Is this still true with the current version of Armbian? What could explain the behavior I'm seeing? I tried the Install to/update booth loader, both option, with no change in behavior. Any thoughts?

Hi to All, I found this project extremely useful and start customization process in the following directions: customize packet set for deploying into A20-Olinuxino-Lime2-4GB based server box use read only Root FS on NAND and SD with overlayfs and USB automount capability fully configurable by scripts in userpatches and up-gradable by web interface only completely none interactive (no tty1, ttyS0, ssh etc.) and controllable via web interface only Armbian project usage is a must in later maintenance so the customization has to be done by userpatches only. Final project has to be ready for automated builds. On the first step while trying to remove changing root pass…

Hello, I am trying to get my Orange Pi One working with my ili9488 LCD screen. I followed a few "how-to's" , This one in particular There is a comment there that mentions how to do it on the Orange Pi. Also this post here. I must be missing something, because when I did all the actions listed in every "How To" I found; all I get is a black screen with a white bar down the side. Does anyone know of a comprehensive how-to on getting this screen to work?

I got Armbian (Jessie desktop) working on Orange PI PC. I did "sudo apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get upgrade" and everything was ok until it said "Compiling headers (please wait)." It has now been on this step for a very, very long time. Is it stuck or does this take a ridiculously long time to complete? Should I shut it down and start over or keep waiting? After finally compiling the github 8188cu-fixed, blacklisting the old driver, I'm left with an interface name starting with lx and continuing with the mac address. I really need it to just say wlan1, so that I can use this sd-image for multiple orangepi-lite boards. Each usb wifi stick I plug in comes up with a different MAC address, hence the interface name changes accordingly. Example: One stick may have a MAC address 00-b6-56-0a-34-b2, and the interface ends up being called lx00b6560a34b2 I've had a look at the leading Ubuntu Xenial solutions, so far none of them work, mainly they use a grub based solution. Hope someone can help.

I am sorry but even after long searching I could not find out how to enable internal pull up resistors in an A20. I am on a BananaPro with Bionic, kernel 4.14.70. I want to use the pull ups on I2C-1. Presumably it is quite easy. I know that internal pull resistors are usually too weak for I2C, but the I2C is only connected to an external level shifter since all connected I2C devices have 5V lines. So the internal resistors should be sufficient, and the expansion board is working reliably on an old Rapsberry model B with internal pull ups. So, how can I enable internal pullups? The I2C-1 overlay seems not to have an option for that. Can it be done via dev…

Hello, There seems to be scant details about the NanoPi Neo 2 LTS, so I thought I'd contribute some. My testing is much less formal than how some would measure it. What I especially like to do in the way of network speed testing are the "worst-case scenarios". My way of invoking a sort of "torture test" is to mostly test upload speeds (as they tend to be slower than download speeds), both large files (much easier), as well as uploading many tiny files (much more gruelling to store, so is therefore a major "torture test"). Having said that, I'll usually favor all-GbE networking (noting which I'm using, GbE or wifi), because I know GbE will b…

And it works. The problem occurs after booting - a message appears about the device being unable to mount /media/mmcboot . And indeed - the contents of /media/mmcboot and /boot are empty.
