Before installing this Armbian legacy kernel (3.4.109), I was using a Bananian-based image with OpenMediaVault (the so called BanaNAS image) and was getting regular 30MB/s transfer rates to my Samba shared hard drives (USB and SATA). My PC and Banana are connected through a gigabit switch, and working at 1Gbps. After installing and configuring the new Armbian image, I notice my transfer rates were now around ~23MB/s which was odd. After trying to change some smb.conf parameters and getting nowhere, I decided to test just the network performance by setting up a simple web server on my PC and doing a wget -O /dev/null http://<my PC-IP>/test.zip of 3Gb. The values …

Hello, I just upgraded my system from 3.4.110 to the kernel 4.4.1 (Debian7) by Igor's script (Thanks Igor). But I have noticed that in this version of the kernel is no longer possible to set the green light to the disk activity. Is there a way, patch or other to fix it? Thanks Fred

My Cubieboard 2 absolutely refuses to boot from microSD. It will boot into Android from flash when there is no microSD card inserted, but with a card in, it just produces a single red LED and no video output. Eventually it will respond by flashing green and powering down when the power button is depressed, so I feel like it's getting somewhere, but those are the only signs of life. I don't know how to look at serial output from this machine. I've tried two different power supplies, and two different monitors because one had I think been dodgy with this machine before. Same problem on all permutations. I also tested the SD card with F3 and wrote it with Etcher, and I've us…

Hi, I've recently got a ZeroPi from FriendlyElec and I immediately installed Armbian Buster, so far is working great except for a minor issue with the Gigabit ethernet. I'm planning to use it with Wireguard as server so I've made some performance checks first to test the actual network speed with iperf3. What I discovered surprised me, the network throughput in upload from the ZeroPi is fine (900 to 950 Mbps) but the download seems to be limited to ~380 Mbps. ------------------------------------------------------- # UPLOAD TEST (ZEROPI ---> HOST) # $ iperf3 -c XX.XX.XX.XX ------------------------------------------------------- [ ID] Interval …

Hello, actually i have "Bananian" with the kernel "3.4.113-bananian", and I would like to switch to the Armbian mainline kernel! My problem / question is how does it work with the GPIO in the mainline kernel? I use these commands under the legacy kernel... (I use the modified WiringPI from LeMaker) echo "17" > /sys/class/gpio/export echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio17/direction echo "1" > /sys/class/gpio17/value But these unfortunately no longer work under the mainline kernel! I don't understand how i calculate now the right GPIO Pin. (http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIO#Accessing_the_GPIO_pins_through_sysfs_with_mainline_k…

System: armbian, BananaPi Pro, sd card, sata ssd, usb hdd I manually moved my existing armbian system from sd card to a sata ssd. Then I changed the rootdev in armbianEnv.txt to the ssd´s UUID. After reboot I thought everything was ok. Then after a system update I figured out that the kernel version differs from the installed kernel modules. I think the new kernel and the modules are installed in /boot at /dev/sda whereas the kernel still boots from /dev/mmcblk0p1. How can I fix this? Here some information: root@pi-nas:/mnt/boot# lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sda …

I want to install debian or armbian or what ever it is for Orange Pi One to be a server. I downloaded Jessie server from here: http://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-one/and extracted the 7z file. I do now know what to do with the raw-files I extracted. At first I tried to install install basic Debian from here: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepibbsen/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=342&extra=page%3D1 but I didn't undestand the instructions after mounting SD Card FAT partition. I'm not even sure am I suppose to mount it to Orange Pi or the PC I used to write the image to th SD. So I went looking for another way and found the first mentioned which was seemed to be made …

I just booted up a fresh install of Armbian 5.24 (Armbian_5.24.161128_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.113) on my Orange Pi Zero and I can't seem to get IPv6 working. It worked fine on Armbian 5.22. It's like the dhclient command isn't able to set the address or the address is silently getting dropped or something. Setting ipv6 address via dhclient fails for both eth0 and wlan0. I ran dhclient by hand to see if a problem would be listed in the output but there's nothing: root@orangepizero:/var/lib/NetworkManager# /sbin/dhclient -d -v -6 -N -sf /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-helper -pf /var/run/dhclient6-wlan0.pid -lf /var/lib/NetworkManager/dhclient6-1cfb9f48-cd01-41…

Can you power an Orange Pi Zero or Orange Pi One from the 26/40 pin header ? I am pretty sure the answer is yes as the OPI Zero expansion board has a power jack. But is there any information regarding how to do this ? Do you feed the +5v or the +3.3v Is it the same for all of the RPI compatible headers ?

Hello, I have a fully working customized Armbian on OrangePi PC Plus. There are two partitions, one for the rootfs, second mounted as /home I want to convert the root partition to squashfs, and use the squashfs file to boot from. I already converted the root partition to squashfs file, I can mount squashfs file, and the contents are correct. I even tried to mount it via fstab and it works. I searched everywhere, obviosly not enough, but I cannot find a way to boot directly from the squashfs file. The idea is to have only squashfs file and rw partition for /home Please, can somebody help me, or point me to the right instructions ?

If I put a USB stick in I can see it in Nautilus(yes I installed nautilus) but when I click on the name of the USB , I get.. " Unable to access “USBNAME" Not authorized to perform operation (polkit authority not available and caller is not uid 0)" Everything else is working. I have Samba, SSH, x11vnc, NAS, HEVC x265 Video, all working happily.I can live without USB but I thought it would be important to give the Armbian developers feedback. I have looked for an answer and I do not see any one else having this problem. Once again I just love this Armbian / OPi.pc combination. Seasalt

Hello everyone, I have an Orange Pi Lite and I have a problem when I try to shut down the system, I receive stack errors. I've recorded a video to see if it detects what the problem is, I'm new to armbian and linux in general. Except for a bug that occurs in the partition several times (on two different microsd cards), I do not know what the problem might be, I read that it could be a kernel bug, but I'm not sure. I put the video link to see if anyone can help me, it is slowed down so it can be read. If I do not try to turn it off, everything works fine, but when I try to turn it off, it gives the errors and restarts as seen in the video. Thanks in advance. …

Hello, I have what I hope is a simple question, but I haven't been able to find an answer. - Orange Pi Plus2e - Debian Jessie Linux is only booting to a console prompt. I can log in, browse around which is great but I would like to explore the GUI. As I understand there are some screen resolution issues, however I do see the Arbian spash screen which looks like rendered video. Also, I'm seeing that H2/H3 Allwinner part design is missing a lot of multimedia/video support eg. Mali drivers. I liked the fact the Orange pi had 2G memory and embedded flash, but OS support is lacking (not complaining, just observation). Are broadcom…

Hi all, Successfully Installed Armbian_20.02.1_Nanopineo2black_buster_current_5.4.20.img on a NanoPi Neo2 Black using an SD Card. The board is fitted with a 16GB eMMC card via the optional adapter. Ran apt-update && apt-upgrade && armbian-config (“Install” “Install to/update boot loader” -> Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC" - that was the only option available.) Proceeded with 'nand-sata-install' only to be presented with the same 'Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC' and nothing else. Hello, I'm trying the currently offered Armbian Bookworm images for the Orange Pi Prime, using kernels 6.1.30 and 6.2.16, and notice that there is no support for SoC temperature monitoring, neither in armbianmonitor, nor in /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/. Here is the debug info from 6.2.16: https://paste.armbian.com/cetovulubu Is that a known issue? An older Armbian image that I have downloaded previously, using the kernel 5.15.93, shows the temperature just fine.

Hello, I'm using Armbian 5.20 on my Orange Pi. Everything is working as it should except for the subtitles in MPV. I already upgraded to a newer version of MPV VDPAU which makes no difference so i went back to the orignal MPV and VDPAU. The problem is that at intermittent times the subtiles display over each other. It seems that the first subtitle which should have been gone according to the srt is still being displayed under the newly displayed subtitle. Have anyone encountered this problen and is there a solution to this problem?

I'm using Armbian 23.02 Bullseye CLI. I didn't want the HDMI to show the boot system log and TTY1 login screen. So, the Linux Kernel 4.6 is out. Supposedly it comes with a lot of new ARM processor support. I'm excited about this. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to kernel development, especially with ARM devices. I guess the question is, what's it going to take to move the devices that use these supposedly newly supported chips up to 4.6? I'm somewhat keen on updating to a kernel that isn't approaching EOL.

Hi, Good people of Armbian-land! First of all, thank you all for the awesome work you've been putting into Armbian. I recently purchased an Orange Pi PC, for which I'd like to use the Ubuntu desktop image, since I need the HW acceleration features. I tried using Mainline briefly but after confirming that the performance is just not there without the Mali drivers (as suggested by the description, so no surprise there), it seems Legacy is my only viable option. Which would be fine, but the monitor I'd like to use with my setup doesn't work with legacy (it works fine in Mainline). Also a sidenote: I connected the monitor using an HDMI-VGA converter. I set th…

Hello, I have got my Orange Pi PC+ reading a DS18B20, but it only gives 0.5 degree increments so I believe the resolution is set to 9 bit. I want to use GPIO Pi16 on the 13 pin expansion header of the board. This pin is claimed by the kernel for the ethernet MAC. According to the SOC Datasheet this pin has the option to provide a 25 MHz clock signal for the ethernet MAC, which is not relevant for this board. Thanks to this Topic https://forum.armbian.com/topic/30274-armbian-build-how-to-modify-dts-file-to-change-gpio-mapping/ and the device tree source files https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/arch/arm64/boot/dts/allwinner/sun50i-h618-orangepi-zero3.dts, https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/arch/arm64/boot/dts/allwinner/sun50i-h616-orangepi-zero.dtsi an…

I'm trying to use a few of the GPIO pins as output pins on an Orange Pi PC+ running Armbian 5.26 and legacy kernel 3.4.113-sun8i. When I look at the FEX file, it appears that the GPIO pins have all been disable d by default: [gpio_para] gpio_used = 0 gpio_num = 0 I don't recall them being disabled by default in previous versions of Armbian. I s this a recent change? Anyway, I edited the file and changed it to: [gpio_para] gpio_used = 1 gpio_num = 3 gpio_pin_1 = port:PA13<1><default><default><default> gpio_pin_2 = port:PA14<1><default><default><defau…

Hi! Is PMP support build-in in newer armbian images? I installed ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.4.3-sunxi on my banana pi. Or is a recompile still needed? With the default image i can see a dmesg "error ahci-sunxi 1c18000.sata: controller can't do PMP, turning off CAP_PMP". If recompile is needed can someone please post a link where to find step-by-step instructions how to recompile armbian with PMP support? Is the guide on htpcguides.com still correct? Thank you

Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi This is the thing I have installed... I'm trying to use the serial ports out of the GPIO header, nominally pins 8 and 10 which depending on what you read maybe ttyS1 or ttyS3. Out of the box whatever they are they're not available. After much googling, I've seen stuff about FEX and DTS none of which mean much to me, I'm guessing Bionic doesn't use FEX as there's no sign of .FEX or .BIN files in the /boot directory. The default state seems to pump garbage out the tx line whatever its doing. Minicom promises to talk to any ttyS? I give it, but theres no answer on loopback, And that's all I have. …

Hey, I was wondering if anyone came across the board layout files. If eagle cad files were available that would be great! I'm assuming that they dont exist.. Or has someone designed a hat or shield for the OPi0? I want to design one and was hoping someone else beat me to it. If not i'll just have to measure it out and make it. I dont want to reinvent the wheel so that would be cool Thanks

Dear Armbian friends, I have question about add DS18B20 temp sensor at RPi-Monitor (web based interface). Can somebody paste working config of this sensor? On internet I found many tutorials but with DHT sensors. On this page (Xavier is an author of RPi-Monitor I think) is described DS18B20 but in status "Working in progress". I tried this but without luck. https://xavierberger.github.io/RPi-Monitor-docs/32_sensors.html?highlight=ds18b20 Cheers, Lucas

Hello world, this is my first visit in this forum and my first question, please don`t bite me, if somethings wrong (and sorry for my bad englisch too, I`m from germany, blackwood forrest....). I am using my cubietruck now since may 2014, everythings ok. Now i got a week holiday and i thougt about an update for my cubietruck, it`s not about the ubuntu 14.04, it`s more about my old 4 GB SD-Card. OK, 10 EUR and i got an new 16GB Card "up to 80 MB/Sec." which i dont believe, but the problem is at another place: + first writing the image to the new 16 GB card: https://dl.armbian.com/cubietruck/Debian_jessie_next.7z + next backup the old…

Hello, I am new to armbian and am quite impressed of the ease of installation and use. I copied the vanilla headless Debian jessy to a spare SD and the board booted right away. So first of all, many thanks to the developers! I rely on GPIO for my application of the board, so I first tested the export of a GPIO. Normally, the kernel from Olimex gives me something like "gpio64_pg0", which is not very compatible to the programs out in the internet (e.g. OpenHAB.org which I use), so – with this kernel – I was happy to get a standard "gpio1" when echoing "1" to "export". But as soon as I tried to change the direction echo out > gpio1/direction the whole board…

Hi, I installed 'Armbian_5.00_Bananapim2_Ubuntu_trusty_4.4.1_desktop' image recently, because I had some problems with sinovoip images (strange hugh? ). One of the problems was the gigabit ethernet slowness, but it seems with the armbian OS is still the same. I get around 30Mbit/sec only on iperf tests. I have tested my network connections & router and I can get much more speed through other computers, but the banana shows this slow mark. The gigabit ethernet connection was one of the reasons tu buy the banana, but I don't know if I am doing something wrong, if I have a bad unit, etc... I have found some internet benchmarks but all of them are based on the…

Hello, I am going to make a project using OrangePi (most likely OrangePi Lite, but could be other model) with a camera. So, there is my supplication, for someone to make a test and check HOW MANY pictures (let's say 640x480) can the camera take PER ONE SECOND (working continuously, in a loop)? I am interested in both types of cameras: a USB webcam and OrangePi CAM module. And it's about taking pictures, not a movie. By the way - it is possible to take pictures into RAM? I mean not writing it to SD card. It would improve performance :-) Thanks to everyone in advance!

Hi, I'm tring to solve an issue on my Orange Pi Zero: at boot time the pins PA18 and PA19 are stucked to Vcc. I tried a lot of solution, now the best result is to add at the beginning of the file boot.cmd the command to clear the gpio configuration: gpio clear PA18 gpio clear PA19 and recompile the boot.scr. Despite this the pins goes HIGH for some seconds until the bootloader reach this line. What is the boot scheme? Why i get this pin HIGH? Is it because the I2C1 is configured? Is it possible to disable it? Thanks Simone

Hi everyone, What I want to do is to use a DS18B20 through 1-Wire to read temperature on an OPi Zero. The sensor seems to be detected by the board (I see the file under /sys/bus/w1/devices/28-something), and then it disappears randomly after a reboot or a power cycle. (file goes away and obviously I can't get any readings). Then it starts working randomly again after an indefinite amount of reboots. I'm having this problem for a while now, and it's driving me absolutely crazy. This one here on the picture is the sensor I'm using. I have attached a 4.7K Ohm resistor between the VCC and Digital cables, and attache…

Hello, I encounter a strange behaviour with Lime2. When on battery and AC plug-in if I ask for a shutdown -h now, the board reboot by itself and the system does not stop. When on battery only, the board stop with the command shutdown -h now I read about those 2 variables CONFIG_MFD_AXP20X=y CONFIG_REGULATOR_AXP20X=y to set in u-boot/configs/A20-OLinuXino-Lime2_defconfig But after building the a u-boot package with compil.sh this setting does not have any effect... zgrep MFD /proc/config.gz command does not show the CONFIG_MFD_AXP20X=y variable Did I miss something, any ideas ? A couple of weeks ago I took delivery of an Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H3 it has the form factor I wanted, eMMC support and HDMI which implied I could run a desktop; the H3 was also the variant that seemed to have the best support. Since then I have been trying to get a stable usable desktop environment working. Good morning all I have an OPi Zero H2 with the official expansion card. My goal is to make an Airport module to connect a speaker to it. Hi all, recently my Banana Pi Pro running Armbian 26.5.1 with Debian Trixie received a kernel update from 6.16.8 (which it has been running on for quite a while without issues) to 7.0.12. Since then, it randomly freezes shortly after booting, sometimes I also can see a kernel panic (see attached pictures). Has anyone else run into this issue? What can I do to fix this? The old kernel no longer appears to be present in /boot, which makes it difficult to return to another kernel (trying to run something like apt-get typically quickly results in the aforementioned freeze).

I bought an Orange Pi PC "Set 9" that came with ribbon camera module (total 20 eur) to compare with Raspberry 3. After finally getting it to take a picture using fswebcam I find the images very low quality. Most passable without any extra lighting is 640x480. 800x600 and 1600x1200 produce nearly black images. Using Raspberry 3 with similarly priced chinese camera produce much better images with lower lighting. Am I missing something or is the camera quality this bad in comparison? I usually expect OK results from "chinese clones" but this is really. The best image I could get was: sudo fswebcam -r 640x480 --fps 25 -p YUV420P cam.jpg

Hi, I have ten orange-pi pc plus with Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with Linux 5.10.43-sunxi burned onto emmc, and twenty orange-pi pc plus with Focal 21.05.6 with Linux 5.10.43-sunxi burned onto emmc. In an attempt to provoke the same issues we have with Xenial on these boxes, I have all of them rebooting (shutdown -r now) once every 10 minutes. They have all been under test for several days. They are all connected to a LAN backbone, but the LAN is not connected to the internet, so whilst they may be attempting to do unattended upgrades, for example, they are all failing. This is a deliberate part of the test. Of the twenty Focal 21 boxes none have failed. …

I've had an Orange Pi 3 LTS for a couple of months now. I bought it for use as a home theater tv box. I thought I'd use the official orange pi ubuntu release, but it turned out to be really outdated and broken. So I have been trying to get Armbian to work. After a lot of troubleshooting and time spent reading docs and forums, I can't get the thing to play video properly. It plays but is terrible quality and stutters constantly. I've determined that panfrost is working. In orangepi-config, under Hardware, it says the GPU is enabled. But when I run glmark2 I get a score of 100 or less no matter what I do. I've tried old builds of armbian for the pi 3 lts and the…

I am really confused about how to connect an LVDS monitor to the board. We used 3.x legacy kernel and used a .fex file for this in the past. But it is time to move to mainline, and it is confusing me. Since LVDS is not plug and play, we need to tell the parameters of the screen somehow. That is clear. I found several ways of pushing parameters to the system: 1. Compile into kernel 2. Compile into U-boot 3. Device Tree 4. Device Tree Overlay 5. Kernel command line According to these articles i have to compile them into U-boot: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/1905-enabling-lcd-in-u-boot-kernel-472/ ht…

I'm using a fairly newly created Armbian_5.25_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 on my orange Pi Zero, trying to port a set of programs from Raspberry Pi where they work OK. I use a script to build: gcc -o myProgram myProgram.cpp -lwiringPi -llibpthread and my problem is that ld reports that it cannot find libpthread.so. find / -name libpthread.so -print reports that the library is located in /usr/lib/arm-Linux-gnueabihf/ and indeed it is. There is no ld.so.conf file in /etc. so how do I get my program to complete linkage? Peter. PS: I seem to have succes…

Tried to decrease CPU max frequency sudo nano /etc/default/cpufrequtils ### ENABLE=true MIN_SPEED=480000 MAX_SPEED=1200000 GOVERNOR=ondemand ### but still failed to boot sometimes.
