  1. Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but I frequent the LinusTechTips forum a lot, some of you may recognize it. Any way, my issue is with my Orange Pi R1. I've tried both Ubuntu Server and Debian server images and I can't seem to get either to work. I'm using a good OEM Samsung wall wart that can supply up to 2 amps, and I'm using a 32GB Sandisk microSD I pulled from a working Raspberry Pi 2. With the Ubuntu Server image I can get in on the first boot and make a new user, but once it reboots to expand the filesystem it seems like it'm outta luck. I assume the red LED flashes when the kernel is running as normal, and after the first reboot the red LED never flashes, I can'…

  4. Hi: I want to add "nowayout" watch dog parameter to my orange pi pc. I think the syntax should be "sunxi_wdt.nowayout=1". but I don't know how to add this to kernel boot parameter in armbian? is there a config file to add boot parameter? BTW I found if I shut down my orange pi PC normally, I can not restart it unless I unplug/plug the power cord. is this behavior expected? thanks a lot for help!!

  6. Hi to everyone, I'm new at armbian forum, but following the project since some month. As far as I can tell all contributors make a great job to enable a stable debian based distribution to many as possible arm-based boards. Thanks a lot for this great job. I bought one of the first available Banana Pi M3-boards in Germany, because I wanted (and did it already very successfully) to set up a small server for email, music storage, mythtv-backend, read out my central heating.... Until now I use a stripped down image based on the provided Ubuntu 16.04 image from http://www.banana-pi.org/m3-download.html As you all know the "support" and further developmen…

  8. I've been using a Beelink X2 with Armbian for some time now booting from eMMC. I ran an "apt update; apt upgrade" on the box early on 01/14/2018 and a reboot was suggested at the end. The system did not successfully reboot after this update and it appears that it doesn't recognize uboot on the eMMC. At the time I had other pressing matters so I set it aside to work on today. Today I downloaded the latest image Armbian_5.34.171121_BeelinkX2_Debian_stretch_next_4.13.14_desktop.img, verified it and successfully wrote the image to a 16GB microSD card. This successfully booted the X2, I then did an "apt update; apt upgrade" on the microSD card and rebooted. This then …

Hello ! I have a problem with an OrangePi Zero under Armbian Buster with mainline kernel (5.8). I need to put the module snd-aloop as primary soundcard (index=0), and the integrated soundcard sun4i-codec as index=1. It worked very well with kernel 5.4 and before. I just had to load the snd-aloop module by adding it to /etc/modules and add "options snd-aloop index=0" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf. But now this is impossible, snd-aloop doesn't load. I had this message when I try to load it manually : modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'snd_aloop': No such device After reading configuration file of the kernel, I saw that the module sun4i-codec (integrat…

  10. I've gotten the board up and running and on Wifi, but this is supposed to be a dim wifi 'lamp'. Just to start out: how do I connect the +- to the board How do I tell the board to power on the leds And for more advanced: Is it possibly to do voltage-limiting dimming as opposed to PWM If no: what's the best way to do PWM? (I'm perfectly fine with creating a c program that simply turns it on and off at a specified hz, but there may be a more elegant tool I'm not aware of) Thanks

Since there isn't an Orange Pi Three forum I am going to post it here. Due to python requirements for PiKVM I installed the latest Jammy build. When i did the install everything looked like it worked but I could not get the remote keyboard and mouse to work with the OTG port. I tried changing the dtb but it didn't work. Comments in the kvmd-armbian discord channel recommended trying a different kernel. After trial and error I found OTG worked with kernel 6.10.9-edge-sunxi64 and remote keyboard and mouse functioned. With the default 6.6 kernel the ethernet port didn't work, but wireless worked. I was also able to get my mt7921u USB wireless adapter to work. In 6.10.9 the …

Before Armbian, I had Cubian installed on an SD card. I saved the NAND root data and all the NAND? sub-partitions, so I have a full image of the original NAND and images of each partition. I took out the card, and inserted a fresh Armbian installation, it boots up quickly and works fine. However, as I wanted to set my CubieBoard2 up so it boots from a S-ATA disk (I bought a 1TB WDC drive), I decided to run nand-sata-install. But I got only one menu item to select, so I cancelled. Is anyone still working with cubietruck? I installed the latest mainline image over Christmas expecting it to have the cedrus driver but apparently it does not. I thought that everything except HDMI audio should be working in mainline now. So I installed the latest legacy image. It plays videos well but bluetooth doesnt work. I switched it on in armbian-config and 'rfkill list' shows it as not disabled but the bluetooth manager shows no adapter and search is grayed out. 19. Hi, I have installed armbian 5.23 on an olimex A10 lime. After boot I find that the i2c devices on the UEXT interface do not show in /dev. They should be /dev/i2c-2 and /dev/i2c-3 and should be detectable using i2cdetect -y 2 (or 3). I notice that the package linux-jessie-root-lime-a10_5.23_armhf.deb ships the .bin (fex) files that configure the ports on boot. The file /boot/bin/lime-a10.bin and /boot/bin/lime-a10-lcd.bin have definitions for these ports but they are disabled. So for now I make a new .bin file with these ports enabled. 20. I hear that Orange Pi 2E has 1GB network speed and an USB3 port. In my project I paln to use an SBC as a network bridge and sniff traffic for problems. A simple network tap would otherwise be ok but they come only with 10/100Mbd speed limit. What I'd do have two ethernet ports on the Orange Pi, one regular and one via USB3. No to my question: are Orange Pi capable for this or is the advertised network/USB3 speed buggy/lacking? I have one Orange Pi PC for a file server and it has been running for weeks just fine. Raspberry Pi's are fine to (albeit still no 1GB ethernet). Raspberry Zero's have issues (mine seem to lock up after a couple of days).

  22. After receiving several Orange Pi Zeros and a Pi+2E, I have been experiment on different ways to connect them using the g_ether and usbnet modules, and configuring the Zero OTG port as slave (mode 2). My last attempt was to use the Pi+2E as a data concentrator, connecting three different OPIZ on the independent USB channels, creating ethernet over USB links ... this have been my week's nightmare. By now these are my findings (could change with more information at hand). 1) The Pi+2E enables 4 different usb ports. The usb0 is the OTG microUSB port, and the usb1, usb2 and usb3 are the other exposed type A USB ports. 2) The usb0 has a particular MAC Address and…

  32. Last year I started a solar-sensing project with the Orange-Pi-Zero (256k), Armbian5.25, legacy kernel and made it work after a while. The Wifi funktion was rather poor and deteriorating, so I ordered a new OpiZero-Plus2-H3, same physical shape and connectors (I thought). Now the -P2 Armbian image 5.30 for the new board loaded perfectly, the Wifi function is really improved due to better hardware. The python part of the code works (still) perfectly. Only (most of) the gpio-functions of my project do not work any more with the new board attached. I use PA07, PA13 and PA14 for bit-bang gpio and a 1-wire sensor via the kernel. 48. Hi! Happy new year! Recently, I experienced a strange date problem on my Cubitruck. After a reboot or a powerdown/powerup the date is set to Jan, 1 1970 00:00:00 UTC (aka epoch). As far as I can see the RTC is working. ntpd is enabled on my Cubitruck. (Since it runs its own nameserver with DNSSEC, DNS resolving isn't working if the date is set to epoch. So ntpd can't reach any NTP server.) Having successfully completed the upgrade on several other servers, I moved on to the lime2 one - which promptly failed to come back up after the reboot. Connecting the serial console shows u-boot doing its thing without issues and the kernel beginning to boot, producing normal messages - only to suddenly freeze. When exactly the freeze occurs varies, sometimes it even happens halfway through outputting a message line - but it is definitely before th…

  93. Hello, I'm using an SPI device with my board and kernel 3.4. It works like a charm, except that in the bin/fex file I had to add the following lines : [spi_devices] spi_dev_num = 2 [spi_board0] modalias = "spidev" max_speed_hz = 1000000 bus_num = 2 chip_select = 0 mode = 3 full_duplex = 0 manual_cs = 0 [spi_board1] modalias = "spidev" max_speed_hz = 1000000 bus_num = 1 chip_select = 0 mode = 3 full_duplex = 0 manual_cs = 0 without those lines, no /dev/spidevX.Y Now I'm testing new kernels (Jessie Kernel 3.19 / 4.0.4 mainline) and it seems that the bin/fex is ignored now. It uses the device tree files. (/boot/dtb/) but I don't know what I have to do to get my…

Dear friends. I am trying to initialize my opi lite 2 without success. I'm using a power source, that's ok! I measured the voltage on the RX pin and I have 3.2v. The TX pin at very low voltage. I used a TTL / USB converter to check the debug ttl, but nothing appears. I configured the converter to 3.3v. Can anyone give me any tips on what to do or can I throw the board away already?

Hello, I've been running the Ubuntu experimental version in my NanoPi NEO2 for months now without any issues, it has been running just fine. 99. orange pi one synaptic package manager I installed the synaptic package manager on Armbian Xenial. If I input something to search for one core goes 100%. The search is so slow I have not let it finish it. Is it a bug? My raspberry pi 0 is able to do a search fast. Thank you.

I am sorry but even after long searching I could not find out how to enable internal pull up resistors in an A20. I am on a BananaPro with Bionic, kernel 4.14.70. I want to use the pull ups on I2C-1. Presumably it is quite easy. I know that internal pull resistors are usually too weak for I2C, but the I2C is only connected to an external level shifter since all connected I2C devices have 5V lines. So the internal resistors should be sufficient, and the expansion board is working reliably on an old Rapsberry model B with internal pull ups. So, how can I enable internal pullups? The I2C-1 overlay seems not to have an option for that. Can it be done via dev…
