Armbian Cubietruck Desktop does not start the graphical environment for Nand. I downloaded the Armbian Legacy 5:10 Cubietruck Debian jessie 3.4.112 Desktop (http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Armbian_5.10_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z) , I recorded the image on an SD card using a software called Rufus ( https://rufus.akeo.ie/ ) Insert the card into Cubietruck and Armbian starts and works perfectly ! Nand-sata-install.sh run the script to perform the copy of the card to nand , the same copy without any error and asks at the end off the Cubietruck and disconnect the SD card . After disconnecting the SD card the Armbian does not start. However I rode the…

Hello all, The board has a 2MB NOR FLASH chip what would be enough for storing u-boot and booting the system over network. Unfortunately u-boot says there is no ethernet. Is there anybody who knows how to enable ethernet on this or similar board like OPi PC2 or Nanopi NEO2? Is it just a matter of configuration or is RTL8211E as PHY generally not supported on H5 chips? Thank you very much for your help. --DieHackbeere

Hi Igor and all, after running armbian on my A20 lime2 for a long time, I decided to switch to armbian on my A10 lime, too (from jessie with a eewiki-based self-compiled kernel). So far it works as perfect as the A20, but there are two small and funny things with the Armbian_5.00_Lime-a10_Debian_jessie_3.4.110.zip image I used: After login the nice armbian banner stated that my A10 lime is a cubieboard . I have a cubieboard, too. So I double checked... The problem is located in /etc/init.d/armhwinfo, There all "sun4i" boards are simply "Cubieboard". I had to adapt the LED check which is used to detect Lime and Lime2 a bit and added the Lime A10. I ch…

hi, I have an OPI pc with armbian (legacy kernel), plan to set it as NAS. due to it has 4 USB ports without internal hub, so I decide to connect 3 USB HDD to it, and create a LVM+RAID5. but unfortunately, OPI pc can only recognize 2 USB HDD(any 2 of these 3 USB hdd), at any USB ports, the 3rd USB HDD can be found by lsusb but stops at "spinning up...." no /dev/sdc. but if I insert an USB disk, (with 2 USB HDD already inserted), it can be recognized and /dev/sdc is created. I guess whether there is a power supply issue. can this be fixed by USB HDD with additional power supply? is that right?

I want to use an ADAU1979 with an olimex A20-Micro. Needs to show up as a device in ALSA, alongside the in- built CODEC - As far as I can see, this driver is in mainline kernel but I have no idea how to configure the kernel build to include it. Obviously we need to tell the system where its i2s/SPI interface is connected etc. Unsure which kernel version (legacy or mainline) to begin with. We do need a desktop environment and the olimex 10"/7" LCD to work also... I am starting this from a position not having built a kernel or kernel modules before so If this idea is a non-starter, someone please tell me so. Thanks.

Hi, I've got a quick question regarding the kernel upgrade instructions on a Cubietruck that runs on Igor's Debian image. Let me mention first that the system boots from my Cubietruck's NAND. However, the root partition and the /home partition are both installed on some SSD. I've followed the instructions about the kernel upgrade (3.4.106-cubieboard to 3.19.6-cubietruck) in order to be able to use the proper shutdown feature - as detailed on http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2013/12/24/cubietruck-debian-wheezy-sd-card-image/. I.e. I installed the various *.deb packages which were contained in the *.tar archive via `dpkg -i`. Then I ran the steps as desc…

Hi all, First of all, I must congratulate the Armbian team for such an amazing job! It is really terrific! I'm using Armbian on a NanoPi Neo where I'm running an application that relies on having low latency UART responses. My application is having a latency of around 10ms and I believe that it might be related to the tick rate defined in the Armbian kernel (http://www.makelinux.net/books/lkd2/ch10lev1sec2). I would like to increase the tick rate, however, I got a little lost when I tried to browse the Armbian repository. I couldn't find the actual Linux Kernel source code. In order to increase the tick rate I need to edit the file /include/asm-"ar…

I have bought 3 OPi Lite 2 (H6 based) dev boards. Just downloaded the latest Bionic image at the following link: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-lite-2/ I understand it's WIP. I read that the current image seems to have issue on HDMI. But it worked with HDMI upon initial bootup, then stopped working. My problem is that without HDMI, how could I edit the WIFI config to have the board connected to my network thus to SSH into the board for fu…

Hi, I'm here to dig into low power consumption with allwinner H6 boards, I own an OrangePi one plus and I'm already doing some tests. With an H3 board and legacy kernel I would simply tweak fex file to turn off the unnecessary, and there is already good material around this argument. But with mainline kernel there is no documentation about lowering power consumption. I would really appreciate some hints on how to tweak down consumption for H6 boards and mainline kernel, probably editing DT overlay or some other config/patch files, and re-building? I already tweaked the simplest things like: -Using fast ethernet instead of gigabit -Lowering max CPU frequency (…

I was sort of disappointed with my RPi 2 VPN performance, which is about 2.5MiB/s while normal traffic can easily exceeds 5.5MiB/s. So I setup same VPN config on OPi One and run the test. The speed is impressive which is well above 5 MiB/s but it could only last about 10s before the box reboots itself. I can see one cpu core is occupied 100% by softirqd ( about 80% on RPi 2). My kernel version is 3.4.112 and StrongSwan version is 5.3.3. Don't have further information yet. When I get a chance to hook up serial console, I may collect more info.

It shows nothing on the screen. If i use the orange pi image instead, i can activate the gpu with orangepi-config, which is a similar tool like armbian-config. The gpu works fine then and has great performance. So it's theoretically possible. Can someone explain to me what the problem is here. If it was a simple port, it would surely have already been done. I tried also the dtb from the orange pi image, but then it also didnt boot up. Th…

I was installing real time clock on Orange Pi One board ... , after some unsuccessful tries I found that the battery has bad solder and all is fine now date was set "up" and "down" ... from Sat Jan 1 02:06:23 EET 2000 to Thu Jul 8 21:37:42 EEST 2032 several times ... and during all this time armbianmonitor was running (I did not check it every time ... I made many reboots ) now armbianmonitor shows some "static" data , in which the time is always 0:18.50 ... and I am thinking that may be it is showing the "last" recorded , I mean the higher date/time ...which is somewhere in the future 2032... I try reinstalling armbianmonitor ... did not helped how to remove …

I've been happily running orangepipc with armbian (buster, 4.19.62-sunxi) as an openvpn gateway for my home devices for some time. Here are some details: I have a remote openvpn server the pi runs an openvpn client and connects to the server the pi has ipv4 packets forwarding enabled my wifi router provides the pi's ip as the default gateway via dhcp So when I connect to wifi with my phone, all phone traffic will be routed through the remote openvpn server without need to install the openvpn client on the phone itself. With this setup the pi can easily saturate my 30mbit cable connection when downloading torrents for e…

Hello Guys, I want to use airodump-ng (Aircrack-ng Suite) or Kismet to get all WiFi Clients in the area. For that, I would like to use the internal WiFi Chipset (so I don't have to use an external WiFi Dongle). My problem is, after I enable the monitor mode (with iwconfig and/or airmon-ng), which gives me no error and it says, the monitor mode is enabled, I am getting no results with Airodump-ng nor Kismet. Are there any solutions for this problem? Is is the driver not capeable of using monitor mode? Thanks in advance, KittFanNr1

I run Armbian 20.02.1 stable on a zeropi which is used as a wireguard server and spotify direct client (USB to external DAC). Things run very well. Many thanks to everyone involved in keeping Armbian such a great distro! I noticed that when I turn on the ondemand governor the system becomes very unresponsive and music playback is stuttering. When I use the performance governor (even with min and max frequency both set to 480MHz) things run just fine. Most of the time 480MHz will be sufficient, but it would be nice to be able to take advantage of the ondemand governor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am running ubuntu xenial (legacy version) on my orangepi zero 256Mb version and using it as a web server with light torrenting. The SoC temperature reading in armbianmonitor reaches above 80C easily. When i log in via ssh after boot the temperature reads usually 60-65 C and normal operations easily cross 70C. This is my first SBC so I am not sure if this is normal? Can anyone tell me if these temperature readings are notmal or do i need heatsink to cool down my system? Thanks in advance.

Hi, as many did, I've bought a (CSI) OV5647 camera from AliExpress and am struggling to get it to work. Been at it for a week now and am at a loss. So i'm trying to get some clarification via this thread on how to get this camera to work. What I've done so far is to compile a mainline kernel (Ubuntu Bionic) and edited the kernel config file to include sun6i_csi and ov5647 driver. Build finishes successfully and am able to boot and load the drivers Unfortunately the OV5647 isn't recognized and /dev/video0 isn't created. Second build included a userpatch I've found online which i applied to no avail to the kernel https…

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Michale Jasson

just curious if there's a quick way to manipulate an existing Armbian build to have separate /boot and / partitions on my SD card, without needing to setup an Ubuntu build environment to compile everything myself. It's really the only thing I'd want to change about the pre-built image, and would like to avoid setting up the Ubuntu build box if I can. Thanks!

I am compiling the armbian for orangePi3, using the armbian tools ... and the compilation works fine. It works both from the kernel_only and from the entire image But I have a problem with the current version of the kernel, because it turns out that it does not support the hdmi-vga adapter and I would like to compile the 5.07 kernel instead of the 5.10. I have found in the doc but I do not find how to indicate to the compile.sh script that it has to compile version 5.07 of the kernel. BACKGROUND: Back on June 27th, I posted my questions regarding my wish to have certain kernel features activated (or not) by default in the Armbian/Debian kernels of the time -- specifically since I wanted to activate 'PPS' features in order to build a Stratum 1 GPS/PPS timeserver: Kernel Option Requests? Here are the 'old' instructions that I used back in June: ORANGE PI PLUS H3 with GPS/PPS I ended up needing to install VirtualBox with an Ubuntu 16.04 environment, and successfully created what I needed (i.e. 3.4.113-PPS-sun8i). I was also eager to create a much newer kernel, but that failed (i.e. 4.11.5). My Orange Pi PC…

I recently received my kit, which consists of the Neo, heatsink, and acrylic shell. Installed Debian_jessie_default.7z with Etcher onto a Kingston SDCIT/8GBSP. PCB 1.3+ uses a more sophisticated voltage regulator than earlier revisions... The temperature is excellent so far (only 40c). I can run some more tests if someone provides instructions. So these boards do not in fact require a heavy copper plane for heat dissipation. I did use a superior heat pad rather than the one that is provided with the heatsink kit. Ideally, you would want something like a 4mm or so copper shim with good quality thermal paste applied to bo…

I've been using the Armbian R1 image (Armbian_20.02.1_Nanopi-r1_buster_current_5.4.20.7z) on the NanoPi R1S with good success. In particular, the USB host port worked perfectly, with no changes required. I thought it was probably about time to upgrade to a newer kernel, so I downloaded Armbian_21.02.1_Nanopi-r1_focal_current_5.10.12.img, flashed it to an SD card, and booted. However, plugging in an external USB device results in absolutely zero shoing up in `dmesg -w`. I tried a USB-UART (STM32-based ACM), USB3 hub, USB 3 Mass Storage (Kingston 16GB), and a Playstation 3 Eye, without any entries in dmesg. To do some debugging, I also downloaded Arm…

Hey, I am currently trying to get sending IR commands from my CubieTruck working. I am using Igors Armbian_4.2_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.108 image. But it seems like the modules are not initialised in a way that they also can send since irsend returns errors that this device does not support sending. I tried it with the hardware.conf from the image aswell as with the hardware.conf and init.d file from https://github.com/matzrh/sunxi-lirc/wiki. Apparently, I have to do "echo $GPIO-Number > /sys/class/lirc_gpio/tx_gpio_pin" which I did with the right pin so in theory, the driver should be set up the way it is supposed to be. Yet still irsend throws errors. Ca…

Hello everyone, Please beg my pardon if the question might seem “stupid†but I searched quite a bit without finding a solution. I’m using the ARMBIAN version of Debian Jessie on my Banana Pro with a great dose of satisfaction and I have noticed that the message about “system status†which appears on the first SSH Login Screen after each reboot provides a very useful insight into my system. I would like to display this message every time I open a new SSH Connection windows to my device, so to always have that i…

Hello fellas, I would like to borrow your experience to compete with my task which counts (and measures) pulses on GPIO with Orange Pi zero. Currently, my simple solution is to register a callback to a specific edge and increment a global variable. I would like to catch a few hundreds of pulses in one burst which have in a 5-100 us length. However, even the number of counted pulses is not okay. Some of them are missed sometimes, which leads to an unreliable solution. I used different libs and all of them fall into the same issue. Today I've got a pcDuino3B - similar to pcDuino3 except it has GB ethernet from the pcDuino3 nano. I tried legacy kernels for both the 3 and the 3 nano. I see high cpu load ~35% from one of the kworker processes. Then I tried the mainline kernels from the 3 and the 3 nano. No cpu load problems but the GbE does not appear to be configured in the 3 image. 3 nano works on both ethernet and wifi so I'm wondering whether to stick with this one and see if there are any other differences. I don't have a build environment set up and no experience with kernel debug…

A quick one... is there an estimated date on when a stable version (next version) will be released for OPI Zero...? I am looking for to have the following included: > Full H2+ support / would be great with the goal to to force the power consumption to the lower side > SPI boot from USB > Working serial gadget / Serial through OTG

Hi when I use the orangepi PC plus TRRS audio output (analog), I have some glitches which are linked to the video mouvment. I've tested the connection between ground and video and it seems that on the left ground pin there is a natural link with video output (50 ohms), is this normal? my cable is a 4 pole TRRS. I even tested audio with cable directly plug on soldering but same result. How could I get a clean audio output? note that the hdmi audio output is clean. and my speaker system is clean if I plug it on a MP3 player with an audio jack. I use retrorangepi 4.2 which is based upon Armbian v5.54 (default legacy kernel)

I'm looking for udev rules or some other way to read system LEDs without sudo. I tried https://github.com/todbot/blink1/blob/master/linux/51-blink1.rules, but I suspect it's not 100% what I need for the Duo.

I have Orange Pi PC connected via HDMI to a Samsung SyncMaster T220HD with 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz. Currently Armibian defaults to 1280 x 1024 and edges are outside the screen. What can I do and which configuration I edit to get better results?

I switched armbian repo to stable via armbian-config 24.11.2. The first thing it did, judging by /var/log/apt/history.log, was purging linux-image*: Start-Date: 2025-01-04 22:47:25 Commandline: apt-get -o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=5 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=6 -y purge linux-image* Requested-By: user (1000) Purge: linux-image-current-sunxi64:arm64 (24.11.1) End-Date: 2025-01-04 22:47:27 Then it proceeded to purge and reinstall dtb and armbian-firmware, but not linux-image: Start-Date: 2025-01-04 22:48:34 Commandline: apt-get -o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=5 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=6 -y purge linux-dtb* Requested-By: user (1000) Purge: linux-dtb-cu…

Hi, there are invalid references inside sun50i-h5-fixup.scr, I think. I use NANOPINEO2, myself compiled linux-*-current-sunxi64_20.05.0-trunk_arm64.deb, kernel 5.4.28-sunxi64 #trunk SMP PREEMPT. amrbianEnv.txt (reduced): overlay_prefix=sun50i-h5 overlays=i2c0 uart1 uart2 usbhost1 usbhost2 usbhost3 param_uart1_rtscts=1 param_uart2_rtscts=1 For example, the row param_uart2_rtscts=1 leads to use following rows of sun50i-h5-fixup.scr: fdt get value tmp_phandle1 /soc/pinctrl@1c20800/uart2 phandle fdt get value tmp_phandle2 /soc/pinctrl@1c20800/uart2_rts_cts phandle fd…
