Hi, I have a question about distro upgrde. This is the information on welcome screen: Packages: Ubuntu stable (jammy), possible distro upgrade (noble) Support: DIY (community maintained) I checked the release info on https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2e/ and the noble is available. I used sudo apt dist-upgrade and it found no upgrade. Is there any wrong with that? And how I can do the dist-upgrade except writing a new image?

  4. After upgrade to latest kernel (4.19.38) my device only boots into maintenance mode. System is on emmc and no problems before. I started armbian-config and switched back to previous kernel, but it doesn't boot system. Even with all USB devices disconnected it didn't start (as i see there are some usb errors in log), file system seems to be clean, just didn't start system in normal mode.... Any advice? Thx Update: OK, solved, after installing latest updates within maintenance mode its ok again....

Hi. My platform is Orange Pi Plus. I connected SATA HDD and installed Armbian. Using nand-sata-install I created the following scenario: boot from SD, system on SATA. I also installed lighttpd. Several days everything works fine and than: ...file system on the root filesystem failed … rebooting automatically due to panic= boot argument... After that the PC just reboots constantly and I can do anything. The only solution I found is to repeat the process of boot SD creation. But after that I need to install everything again. All this I already did for several times... What maybe the reason of this error? Can I exclude the SD card and use eMMC instead? Is there anythi…

One or more USB ports are getting unresponsive (sometimes all four of them) and no messages in dmesg about connection/disconnection. No matter what device is used. This thing happens only on the first host controller, the second rear one is functioning and responsive. It happens more often if we push in and pull out four devices in a short period of time. Wherein /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices is stuck too, we cannot read the info from it and all the utils (vi, cat, etc.) are getting the D state (uninterruptible sleep). 14. Hello, I am going to make a project using OrangePi (most likely OrangePi Lite, but could be other model) with a camera. So, there is my supplication, for someone to make a test and check HOW MANY pictures (let's say 640x480) can the camera take PER ONE SECOND (working continuously, in a loop)? I am interested in both types of cameras: a USB webcam and OrangePi CAM module. And it's about taking pictures, not a movie. By the way - it is possible to take pictures into RAM? I mean not writing it to SD card. It would improve performance :-) Thanks to everyone in advance!

  24. Bookworm 6.1 kernel Cinnamon terminal is unusable. The terminal screen flickers and the written text blinks with the cursor blink. Occasionally the terminal goes black. I am using an ancient 1024x768 screen. Is this the root cause, or is the terminal broken in Cinnamon?

  25. Hi, I've got a pair of OrangePi 3 LTS boards running the CLI only install of Debian Bullseye with a kernel of 5.15.89-sunxi64 and all the latest updates applied. But when I run the 'top' command, I always see a load of 1.0 or higher. Even when the system is completely idle. I'm running the system of the eMMC, not SDcards. I realize that this is really more of a cosmetic issue, but I was hoping someone had a suggestion on how to fix it. The system is mostly idle, it's a test box or remote management system, so it's not really critical, and the load doesn't go high anyway. Cheers, John

I wish to configure my OrangePi's (Lite and PC+) such that they power on automatically whenever the power is restored after a power outage without needing to press the power button. In an effort to enable Bluetooth on the OrangePi (Lite2 | 3) I am stuck at enabling UART1 via overlay. According to the schematics, the AP6255 is connected via UART1 (PG6-PG9) to the H6 SoC but not defined in the dtb. Since there is a dtbo which looks promising at /boot/dtb/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h6-uart1.dtbo I tried adding an overlay to /boot/armbianEnv.txt - manually and via armbian-config. Both did not work out. In addition, I also tried adding uart1 to the dtb, without success. What am I missing?

Hi, On upgrading to 5.35 Ubuntu Xenia default 3.4.113 I am unable to get DVI video working, I am presented with a pink screen. Monitor is a 1280x1024 dvi connected via HDMI-DVI converter cable. I am configuring this with h3disp -m 1280x1024 -d. I have rolled back to a 5.30 image and everything works as it should. Possibly a bug? How can I upgrade everything in the distro without breaking the video again? Thanks.

  51. Hello I have an Orangepi One which fails after running for a certain time. In the failed "state" pinging it still works, but SSH connections to the Orangepi or from the Orangepi to the Server via Autossh won't work any more. A PHP application running on it is still working. It looks like the issue is that it winds back the time to something ridiculous. Hard reset with pulling Power fixes this for again a certain time till it happens again. I wrote a script which runs every Minute via Cronjob and logs the current time to a file. Before the rewind already something weird is happening. The cronjob is executed twice on 04.40. I have no idea what is hap…

  57. Hey there, I have two questions and one of those may be pretty dumb, but anyway. What is the issue that the onboard network is disabled at the moment? The other question is about the tested 3rd party hardware which include various LAN and WLAN adapters. Have those indeed tested with the current experimental images and working? Or is the network support disabled in the current builds at all? Best regards Werner

  93. Hey guys. I have been trying to utilize H5 vpu decoding for 10+ hours... Still no go. Here is the checklist: kernel Using mainline kernel 5.8.9 from Armbian/build current. `uname -a` output: All kernel configs needed on Sunxi-Cedrus homepage were added, cma set to 256M. libva-v4l2-request Using https://github.com/Sash0k/libva-v4l2-request master. Hi...Is support for using Mali GPU of Orangepi PC2 enabled for armbian? I'm trying to install the mesa-dri utilities and getting stuck in the libc-bin segmentation fault? Is it because of lack of support or something else? Also I'm getting issues of protobuf while compiling Opencv for Orangepi PC2. If anybody can help!!

  95. I will use a orangepi PC2 as openhab server. Arbian 25.2 kernel 6.6.62 minimal.img is installed. The orangepi is connected with an ethernet cable to the router, but is not visible in the list of connected devices. So I suppose he does not make connection. I want to access the orangepi by putty on my PC but as long he is not online, connection is not possible. Led's on the ethernet connector ar flashing. What do I wrong ?

  96. Started by Chris Rupnik,

    Wanted to share my very positive experience upgrading to the latest kernel. Followed the procedure using armbian-config and it worked out of the box on my OrangePi PC2. Left the system overnight running my standard tests and no issues. Even the problematic rtl8192 has no issue. There used to be a slight judder on the HDMI attached monitor that is gone now, perhaps due to the new MALI450 gpu modules. ___ ____ _ ____ ____ ____ / _ \| _ \(_) | _ \ / ___|___ \ | | | | |_) | | | |_) | | __) | | |_| | __/| | | __/| |___ / __/ \___/|_| |_| |_| \____|_____| W…

Hello, Is there anyone that has problem with USB keyboard on armbian 20.11.9 buster. I have tried both 20.11.6 and 20.11.9 buster nut the keyboard can't be recognized in armbian. 99. Hello, since the build for OrangePi Plus 2 is only community maintained (and there is a warning during installation that this build is not suitable for production), I though of using some generic image or a image for a similar board with standard support. Is it a good Idea? Which image should I choose? Thanks for help, Skalistan P.S. there is no tag for "OrangePi Plus 2", so I used the tag for "OrangePi Plus 2E" since it is required to add a tag.

  100. Someone can help me with detail instruction: how I can enable touchscreen trough gpio on OrangePi Plus 2. Screen setup to 800x480 but cant enable touch, because I am beginner.
