I have two NanoPi R1s, both with Armbian Buster. I want to use both as wireless access points, however the wifi seems to be problematic. It always works at first, but not anymore after updating, changing the config and rebooting. My hostapd config is the following: # # armbian hostapd configuration example # # nl80211 mode # ssid=[myssid, contains some numbers] interface=wlan0 hw_mode=g channel=6 [11 on the other one] #bridge=br0 driver=nl80211 logger_syslog=0 logger_syslog_level=0 wmm_enabled=1 wpa=2 preamble=1 wpa_psk=[random thing armbian-config generated] wpa_passphrase=[secret] wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK wpa_pairwise=CCMP rsn_pairwise=CCMP wpa_strict_rekey=1 wpa_dis…

I made an application with opengles which works correctly in armbian xenial 3.4.113, I always have 40 or 50 fps, also if I run the es2gears program it gives me a constant 300 fps, I wanted to change to a more current kernel and download armbian buster, but here my program runs at 5 or 6 fps, and es2gears does not exceed 30 fps. I was reading the posts on the subject in the forums and I found that installing the lima driver activated 3d acceleration, but I could not make it work. Some information that can help me activate 3d acceleration with kernel 5.8 I am using an orange pi one thanks: D

I've been trying to get the TV out from my OPI-PC Plus for a while, but nothing is working The pre-installed Android OS on the emmc outputs to the TV just fine, so it's not a cable/tv problem I've tried both Armbian and some distros found on the OPI forums, but nothing worked. I messed with the script.bin, using http://linux-sunxi.org/Fex_Guide as a guide, but it didn't work I'm using a 64GB Samsung Class 10 card, but I've also tried other cards and it didn't work It works when using HDMI though Here's my script.bin (I'm pasting only the relevant part) I'm running the lastest version of armbian (5.20) What should I do now?

Hello Armbian Kernel Team, I own a Cubietruck (CB3) and I wanted to setup a fresh debian server system. So I installed Armbian 5.14 (Debian Jessie) on my SD Card and booted the system up. Everything was working as expected, but I have special needs regarding the usage of my filesystems and storage devices. My desired configuration is (previously working under Armbian Wheezy): Cubietruck NAND -> /dev/nand1 (32 MB) = boot partition -> /dev/nand2 (max) = some data or maybe swap 60 GB SATA Drive (2,5") via SATA to USB adapter -> /dev/sdb1 (5 GB) = root filesystem -> /dev/sdb2 (55 GB) = some data 1 TB SATA Drive (3,5") via native SATA port o…

Hi guys, I just installed Kodi on my Orange Pi Lite running Armbian. Everything worked very well, except for the fact that that there seemed to be no audio at all through my tv. I am a beginner, so I really don't know what to do at this point. I saw someone talking about editing the /etc/asound.conf file so it will transmit sound through the HDMI cable. However, I have no idea how to open a file in the Terminal. I would love to (at least) know how to open a file in the Terminal. Thanks in advance, TheNooter.

I bought an orange pi lite 2 and I would like to use it with the ADC MCP3008 but when executing the code in python using the spidev library, it always returns the value of 1023 and when I disconnect the ADC it keeps showing the same value, it is as if there was no communication , The ADC is not the one with the problem since I tried it with an arduino mega and it works perfectly, it is in the orange pi lite 2 where it does not work. the connections are: VDD=3.3V VREF=3.3V AGND=GND CLK= (PC00) SPIO_CLK DOUT=(PC03) MISO DINT=(PC02) MOSI CS = (PC05) SPI0_CS0 DGND= GND import spidev import time spi = spidev.SpiDe…

Hi. Recently i upgraded to Armbian_5.65_Orangepilite_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.78 and i have two problems. I can not read the thermal zones properly with neither of those: cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp cat /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp because i have results like "30371". Hello, I try to setup my Orange Pi Lite with a thermal printer (http://www.ebay.de/itm/122418910118?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT). With my Arduino the printer works perfect, so it is actually ok. I just can't figure out how to use the ttl connection. I installed pyA20 and try to implement a kind of SoftwareSerial and it didn't worked really well: #!/usr/bin/env python """Basic blinking led example. The led on A20-OLinuXino-MICRO blinks with rate of 1Hz like "heartbeat". Hello, I have on my Orange Pi 2+ and Orange Pi 2+e Armbian 5.14 and 5.16 and both have the same problem: WiFi isn't constant. The signal fluctuates from 48% to 92% or from 20% to -1%. There is no difference with or without a LAN cable. When I connect the Orange Pi with a WiFi network the signal is constant. Is there somebody, who knows how to fix this problem?

Good evening, I ran into some problems with sbc-bench on a couple of Allwinner boards Orange Pi Zero, Orange Pi Zero+, Orange Pi One and Nanopi Neo 2 spcifically. For some reason, the CPU frequency in Ubuntu is set to 1416000 while the hardware can reach 1512000, which is an improvement of about 6 and a half in CPU performance. I would appreciate a change or explanation. Thank you very much for everything.

Hello Guys, The main reason I bought my orange pi One is to create custom softwares on it(mostly on Linux distro). I checked google and can't really decide which is the best programming language, which have a nice IDE, able to handle GPIO-s and other periferials like SPI, COM...etc, able to create a fair looking UI. Can someone suggest me some ideas? Programming language does not really matter. Any ideas are welcome Regards, G.

Good morning, first of all sorry for my English, I'm not native and I use a translator. I'm working on a project with the orange pi plus 2e and I need to protect the internal memory emmc, I installed in emmc "ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Debian GNU / Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i" and I ask myself the following: How can I protect the internal memory so that it is not accessible by inserting an SD card and mounting the emmc partition? That is, I give my client the orange pi configured and no sd card inserted, starts with emmc, but if someone inserts an sd card with any image for this card can mount the internal partition and access the contents. I've looked at encryp…

I recently bought an Orange Pi Lite and installed Armbian on it. Everything works fine except I can't write to USB drive. I'm not logged in as root. USB mounts automatically but other users can't seem to write to it. I searched this issue on the internet but could not figure out how to change permission as this is the first time I'm using a Linux machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is what I see when I open up USB properties. Thank you.

Having invested many, many hours getting the video out to work on my recently purchased Orange Pi Zero kit, I'd like to leave this heads up for the next person having trouble with video out. In my case, none of the advice I could find in this forum or elsewhere seemed to make any difference. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here are some things you should know. The latest Armbian images for the OrangePi Zero enable composite video out by default. It should just work. (Well at least the Ubuntu image -- I never actually verified Debian Jesse worked after I fixed my expansion board.) You should NOT need to fiddle with /etc/modules or .fex files. Altho…

Hi, Got an issue with some long latency/buffer on OrangePiPC. Legacy built kernel with RT (Armbian 5.32). The default output, Audiocodec Analog Stereo, exhibits a latency of about 500ms or somewhere there, it is actually a delayed play. Other outputs do not have such latency, eg if I connect a USB audio device, it is just fine with only a few ms of latency. If it was a generic setting that would have impact on the USB audio too, but it is not, USB audio plays without excessive latency. Tried to set as low as I could the default-fragments (=8) and default-fragment-size-msec (=3) in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf to have 24msec of buffer but to no a…

I'm trying to stream audio from my windows pc to a orange pi running `ARMBIAN 5.30 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i`, in the verbose output in the pc and in the orange pi shows that the connection has been stablished but it gets refused right after with no "explanation". I'm following intructions from this thread, it shows how to add the tcp protocol to pulseaudio in the orange pi and on the windows machine the audio is captured with linco and it streams with plink (putty command line interface). Why the connection would be refusing to stay connected? PS: in the installation process `/etc/default/pulseaudio` didn't exist after pulseaudio installation, but as i…

Hello everyone, I am encountering problem with pulseaudio on Bananapi M1. I don't want the board to suspend speakers on idle. As Pulseaudio is used I simply commented this line: ``` ### Automatically suspend sinks/sources that become idle for too long #load-module module-suspend-on-idle `` in `/etc/pulse/default.pa`. The problem is that if I play something e.g. raspotify I dont hear the sound anymore. As soon I keep raspotify playing and restart Pulseaudio (killall pulseaudio) the sound is back again. If I pause music I lose sound again and need to kill pulseaudio. Does anybody encounter same thing?

Hi, I started using pinebook armbian buster when it was beta, it worked. From that beta I upgraded yeysterday and I see no display (LCD) after kernel starts (I only see the boot). The same using a new official image [1] I know there is another places to track this issue [2], but the thing is that in the official image page [1] it says it is fully working and that is not true. There are two options: - changing the status to something beta (like before) so you are less responsible of problems - putting an image that works [1] https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/ [2] https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-443

I want to control a fan via a script. I found a bunch of tutorials for pwm, but they were either for older version of Armbian, or for another board. I could not find a tutorial for Allwinner H6 boards. Apparently simple overlays=pwm doesn't work anymore. Anyone have any pointers as to how to go about it? my goal is to do something like $ ./setfan.sh 50 Setting Fan Duty Cycle to 50%... Nothing more complicated. I have a 5V fan for the system and I just want to tune how fast it should run - now it's going full 100% and it's louder than I'd like. I planned to do this with a trimmer but because the world situation and distances, the trimmer…

I'm using an Olimex LIME2 board with an A20 processor (actually it's a Olimex A20-SOM, but that shouldn't matter) and trying to use PWM. I have an older image (jessie with Kernel 3.4) where the PWM hardware can be accessed through /sys/class/pwm-sunxi/pwm*/{duty, duty_percent, period, pin, polarity, pulse, run}. Now I'm building a newer image (xenial with Vanilla kernel). It has /sys/class/pwm, but the directory is empty. Any ideas? The fex file is the same for both boards; the relevant section is: [pwm0_para] pwm_used = 1 pwm_period = 10000 pwm_duty_percent = 50 [pwm1_para] pwm_used = 1 pwm_period = 10000 pwm_duty_percent = 50

When I run pygame for any significant length of time on legacy kernel it crashes with a kernel timeout error. I bought an Orange Pi PC "Set 9" that came with ribbon camera module (total 20 eur) to compare with Raspberry 3. After finally getting it to take a picture using fswebcam I find the images very low quality. Most passable without any extra lighting is 640x480. 800x600 and 1600x1200 produce nearly black images. Using Raspberry 3 with similarly priced chinese camera produce much better images with lower lighting. Am I missing something or is the camera quality this bad in comparison? I usually expect OK results from "chinese clones" but this is really. The best image I could get was: sudo fswebcam -r 640x480 --fps 25 -p YUV420P cam.jpg

Hello, I am curious to hear how accurate the measurement of temperature is from the onboard sensors, particularly in my case for the Banana Pi M2+. While I do understand that the BPi M2+ suffered from poor choices for thermal management from the manufacturer both in hardware and software, I believe that thankfully Armbian has worked out the kinks on the software side, hasn't it? I am running the latest noble image, here's what I noticed. The temperature as shown by the sensors and armbianmonitor commands never really goes below 60° even on idle with ambient temperatures of around 25 to 30 degrees. My SBC already came with a small heatsink attach…

Hi I'm using an Orange Pi PC Plus with a LoRa HAT (Semtech SX1278) connected via GPIO. The tool which uses this HAT connects directly to the SX1278 chip on the HAT, no protocoll like SPI is needed. I'm using it for several years on RaspberryPi's without problems. But with the latest ARMBIAN Image for the Orange Pi PC Plus Armbian_23.11.1_Orangepipcplus_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz I have issues in this constellation. The tool can not contact the SX1278 via GPIO, said the tool developer. It seems like I have to activate the GPIO pins before. I've tried to find information about that, but without success. So I hope to find here more in…

Yesterday my 14" Pinebook arrived so I thought I'll collect some already available information. A lot of work still has to be done to get a decent laptop experience with this hardware so this is neither a review nor a stupid Un-Review but just a preview instead. To get the idea about dimensions I added a 13" and a 15" laptop to the picture. Pinebook is wedge-shaped and thickness matches both the 2011 15" MacBook Pro and the 13" from 2015: Display size closely matches the 13" MacBook Pro (but of course pixel density / resolution don't match as well as quality: TN vs. IPS and coating -- it should be obvious if you've the 'you get what you…

Hi, is WoL supported on orange pi? I have orange pi pc+ and ethtool shows letter d next to Supports Wake-on , cant turn it on. Maybe I need to compile module with support?

just curious if there's a quick way to manipulate an existing Armbian build to have separate /boot and / partitions on my SD card, without needing to setup an Ubuntu build environment to compile everything myself. It's really the only thing I'd want to change about the pre-built image, and would like to avoid setting up the Ubuntu build box if I can. Thanks!

Hi, after unsuccessful experiences with bananian I found armbian - due to the active forum and answers to questions it looks like the better choice. I try to install fhem on bpr-r1. Combine a access point with homeautomation server (the router ifunction is handled by another device). After some work with Debian Jessie (lot´s of issues with hostapd and gpio) - Ubuntu with 4.4.1 kernel works stable. Only issue which keeps me from going into operation is following problem: all directories /sys/devices/platform/gpio-sunxi/gpio/gpio* are recreated everytime fhem server starts. The trick from Raspbian with chown -R root:gpio ys/devices/platform/gpio-sunxi/gpio/g…

Hi All, Is here somebody, who use R1+SATA disk+wifi together? (with Igor's great debian with kernel 3.4.107) When I switch on wifi, everything seems to be ok. I live in highly interfered area, so performance is sometimes low, but everything works for several hours. After several hours my R1 gets frozen. Last log message is "DHCP ACK" from my wifi printer. The question is, can it be power issue? I have USB power meter and current sometimes exceed 1,5A, but voltage holds still above 5V. When I tested the board with OpenWRT, I had connected USB LTE modem to R1, wifi was switched on too, but system was stable. Another thing is that OpenWRT has a bug in wifi driver and…

Hello, just installed R1 image, solved power issues as described on this forum and now trying to configure it as classic home router. So I got a problem configuring DHCP server - system works in interfaces.r1 mode that means lan and wlan are bridged to wan. Wlan and Lan interfaces configured as manual that is not very handy, so I need to install DHCP server and make some NAT. And here goes a problem - I am not very skilled in linux networking and cant figure out how to combine NAT and R1 interfaces to get classical router behavior (externalDHCP-WAN-NAT192.168.0.1-internal DHCP-LAN and WLAN DHCP clients). Can someone give me directions? Maybe there is a way to install som…

I'm using vanilla Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 from http://www.armbian.com/lamobo-r1/ When I follow the forum posts for copying everything to the SATA drive and updating /etc/fstab and /boot/boot.cmd the system boots as expected to the SATA drive. The problem I have is I get prompted to upgrade it on boot using apt-get upgrade. This also upgrades the kernel version from 4.6.2 to 4.6.3. Because I have moved the system from the SD card to the SATA drive the new kernel doesn't load, only the old kernel with missing modules which causes problems. When the kernel updates it updates the SATA drive /boot directory but the device uses the sd card /boot directory so things get screwed…

hi there, just created the account to report what i experienced with my r1. unfortunately i had a bunch of changes w/o reboot so i only can estimate what caused the gap but im pretty sure it was at least the fact that i changed to the /etc/network/interfaces.r1router cfg before i rebooted from do-release-upgrade to xenial (install image has been the recent trusty of today). that was when i couldnt even ping my banana from any other box in my home net. have to say im with the german telekom which provides ipv6 in a dual stack manor. i saw on the pi console that it got the exspected ipv4, but also ipv6 addresses by telekom speedport dhcp. nevertheless from my other box it l…

Hi All, I have R1 issue again. After lot of experiments and tuning, I decided try to use R1 for real routing :-) It means dual WAN, lot of VLANs, thousands connections, traffic shaping etc. Everything worked well, until yesterday. As whole Europe has real summer these days, working temperature of my R1 is around 30 celsius. I experienced strange issues when traffic is very high. This happen approx. twice a day. System was not restarted, but PPPOE goes down, kernel reinitialize some hardware and everything continues well. Outage is several seconds only. I have to say, that I'm using OpenWrt for this application, but the system is well patched and worked without prob…

Hello, First I would like to thank Igor for his amazing work on Armbian! I know that the Lamobo/BPI R1 is very problematic with power and SATA, but when I installed Armbian 5.1 jessie with the legacy kernel, it seems that the SATA is working fine. But when I tried the same Armbian 5.1 with vanilla kernel it wasn't able to boot and the hard drive made knocking noises. Just to make sure, I disconnected the HD and it booted fine. I think that this is a software problem (maybe uboot?) because as I mentioned it works with the older kernel. I tried installing the uboot package bananapro-next as Igor adviced someone with a banana pro but it didn't help. I'm using a good…

Hello, when I connect R307 fingerprint reader to USB port, Linux identifies it as mass storage device. If the device is connected to the Orange Pi board before turning on, the system resets itself on early startup with "Resetting CPU..." message. What can be the reason and how to avoid it? I know about alternate serial connection, but would prefer to use USB. I use Armbian recent version with console image. Thanks in advance.

I managed to start de A5E from nvme, but upgrading the packages fails. Installing armbian-firmware_26.8.0-trunk.125_all.deb failed With: data.tar lzma error.... Several months ago I got the same error but ignored it. Now everything is almost working, I tried to find out what went wrong. I can extract package with dpkg-deb -x on another system. MD5sum is the same on A5E and other system. This problem occurs on sdcard and nvme card. Btw: it is the 4G version of the A5E. Any idea how I can solve this?

I'm running Armbian off NVMe, and flashed the U-Boot SPI firmware (u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin → /dev/mtdblock0) so I no longer need an SD card inserted just to get it booting. That part works great. But now I'd like to be able to pop in an SD card occasionally to try other distros/images without disturbing my NVMe install — and it seems that's not currently possible: with an SD card inserted, the board still boots straight from NVMe and ignores the card entirely. Dug into it a bit over serial console: The default boot_targets is fel nvme0 mmc_auto usb0 pxe dhcp — NVMe is checked before the SD/eMMC. Radxa hit the same issue on the RK3588 boards and fixed it upstre…

Hi everyone! I have v25.8 rolling for radxa cubie a5e running Armbian Linux 6.14.0-rc1-dev-sun55iw3 runnig and it has only ttyS0 serial device. Due to device schematics it should be able to provide serail interfaces with RTS/CTS support UART4-7. Was anyone able to activate this devices? As I understand, I need an overlay .dtbo files. But those cannot be found anywhere in /boot. Also I can compile those overlays, but I need the correct .dts files.

For those with a Radxa Cubie A7A/A7Z, I made a custom Armbian Build using the BSP kernel. https://github.com/NickAlilovic/build/tree/Radxa-A7A https://github.com/NickAlilovic/build/releases To build your own image: git clone https://github.com/NickAlilovic/build.git --branch Radxa-A7A ./compile.sh "do not change the kernel configuration" "show csc/wip/eos/tvb" "I understand and agree" "radxa-cubie-a7a" or "radxa-cubie-a7z" rest is up to you... Should you choose to run Armbian, ensure the CPU has adequate cooling by installing the Radxa Heatsink. https://radxa.com/products/accessories/heatsink-6…

We flash hundreds of Orange PI 3 LTS boards with stock Armbian Debian Bullseye via nand-sata-install to install it on the onboard eMMC storage. I am running Armbian Bionic with Linux Linux 5.4.45-sunxi on an OrangePi PC Plus board. It is running HomeAssistant and a small NodeJS service. I am using Olimex Lime 2 Emmc Rev.k for a project. One of the Boards shuts down randomly. Its not a freeze or a sudden power down of the board. The board undergoes a complete shut down procedure. I checked the log entries in /var/log/syslog log file. There is a entry of board going to shut down but I couldn't find the reason for shut down. Is there a way to find out if the board got shut down because of the Power-button press, shutdown command from a SSH client, shutdown because of temperature or shutdown because of under voltage ? Is there a log file i can check to find the reason for shutdown?

Hi, Firstly, congratulations for your amazing work… it's impressive. I have a question regarding the SD image for A10 Lime (Linux 4.x)… Can I enable a raw serial device on /dev/ttyS1 which will use the uart0 of the FEX file? If I understand the FEX documentation, the FEX is no longer used on this kind of image, in favor of DTB files. So, how can I manage to modify the DTB file in order to customize my uart settings ? And, finally, how can I obtain a raw serial device on /dev/ttyS1 which will use it ? Regards, Anthony.

Hi all, I'm new here at the Armbian board. I operate a self made house automation based on a Raspberry using a self written PHP server and Homegear. To have a better wireless connection to a differential temperature sensor, I built a Homegear Gateway based on a Nano Pi Neo with Armbian OS and a 868 MHz CC1101 module. For the network connection I use a Realtek USB WLAN NIC (Realtek RTL8188EUS-Chipset). Most of the time the gateway works. But around 2-3 times per week the gateway hangs and I cannot log on anymore. A hard restart by unplugging power is required. The only indications I find are 2 dumps of the RTL8188EU driver in kern.log…

I have just received cheap WiFi dongle (paid $1.6 in Aliexpress). I don't know yet if I will solder it directly to Orange Pi One extra USB exposed solder points. Currently I want to share how to disassemble this dongle without damaging anything. Watch my short tutorial video: Using this module without the case significantly improves WiFi signal quality and range. Finally it would be possible to solder external antenna socket. Some photos:

How can we enable this in Armbian? lsmod does not show any detected h/w driver and wan0 is not showing up in ifconfig. Only lsusb has the following root@nanopineo:~# lsusb Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0bda:818b Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Hi, I tryied a few times to run a RT kernel I built from https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib as discribed in Armbian documentation and as in https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1950-orange-pi-pc-plus-armbian-guitarix-guitar-effectprocessor/page-2#entry16460. When executing compile.sh script it patch nice and good, then asks for Preemption Model and I chose 5 for Full Realtime. But when running the kernel into OrangePi it stucks in Starting Kernel. U-boot output: I am not choosing 1-4 for preemption model because I don't know if it will end up as an realtime kernel. The update from the older kernel to the rt one was done by dpkg -i on the deb files from the…
