Running apt-get dist-upgrade tries to install the new Allwinner H3 kernel but it takes the Orange Pi PC a really, really long time to extract and install it. The heartbeat LED flashed really fast and after 30 minutes I elected to stop it. Has anyone succeeded doing apt-get dist-upgrade today to get the new kernel on the Orange Pi PC or Orange Pi One, and, if so, how long did it take? The packages are: linux-firmware-image-sun8i linux-headers-sun8i linux-image-sun8i linux-jessie-root-orangepih3 linux-u-boot-orangepih3-default Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

[This is a repost of my own post at orangepi.org.] Hi, I'm very excited to use the Armbian on Orange Pi One. Without rebuilding a kernel or fex file, here is how to configure the Orange Pi One governor so the "[ 150.135554] [cpu_freq] ERR:set cpu frequency to 648MHz failed!" and "[ARISC ERROR] messages no longer appear in dmesg. We will set it to 912MHz on the low end and 1200MHz on the higher end which scale up and down properly on the Orange Pi One. This is until you update your fex file and/or kernel config to use different values for the CPU frequency scaling that are a little different on the Orange Pi One than they are on the Orange Pi PC. Put it in your /e…

At the moment it seems that python library to manage the gpio is working well I'm trying with wiringPi with C++ under netbeans but it doesn't work . The compiler is the g++ and other parameters are ok ...I think But how to use this package with C/C++ ? In my project I include the #include <wiringPi.h> And netbeans compiles without any error, that's ok . But when I add this line of code wiringPiSetup () ; I get two errors .Into the header file this function is declared as external . I think there is a conflict because my project is C++ but the library is in C and then mistake when compile . Using the terminal I type make blink and then ./blin…

Hi, Since latest update just a few days ago (Linux bananapi 4.5.5-sunxi) , the bananpi keeps telling me this: [ 5 updates to install: apt-get upgrade] . When i try to upgrade there arent anything to upgrade. In did apt-get update and apt-get upgrade and nothing to upgrade. I manually execute /etc/update-motd/40-updates and its true that it says that there are 5 updates. So there must be something there that its not chaning. Any tips on this? EDIT: ok i just fixed this by manually editing the file /var/cache/apt/archives/updates.number and setting it to 0 but i think this should be automatic and it wasn't working for some reason. (seemed like the script wasn't updatin…

Hi! I've tried to compile the lwjgl lib on my opiplus2, but I'm stuck on ant compile_native_es. ant jars_es finished successfully. The error: [apply] /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lEGL Tried to install libegl1-mesa-dev package but it conflicts with the mali driver package. Is it possible to compile the lwjgl with opengl-es on the opi, or that's a dead idea? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am developing application that will show graphics in console mode using frame buffer access in system with Orange Pi PC board. Several Debian images I tried until now from Orange Pi downloads always set up 32bpp frame buffer. Calling 'fbset -depth 16' causes screen corruption. Changing script.bin setting (fb0_format = 5) did no change. Any suggestion?

I started using armbian just a few days ago, I used the cb2 image. When I updated from 5.10 to 5.11 when I play a video, the video surface is darker, for example, instead of white I get grey. Just to be sure I put armbian 5.10 in another SD and videos played well, them update to armbian 5.11 and had the same problem with video playback. Does someone have any idea what is the problem? Until the problem is solved, how can I downgrade my armbian 5.11 to 5.10? Thanks. Hello guys, apparently there is a new product in the orangepi lineup. It is the PC+ (PC Plus), which has 8gb EMMC and a Wifi chip onboard. The rest of the features seems to be the same as the plain OrangePI PC. The new SBC can't be found on the orangepi official site, but it is available on aliexpress: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Orange-Pi-PC-Plus-ubuntu-linux-and-android-mini-PC-Beyond-Raspberry-Pi-2/1553371_32668618847.html

Hi, I bought about a year ago an orange pi plus. Just a few weeks ago, i tryed the new distro's I love to have debian on the board. And like your distro verry much. The result is the same nothing. My Orange Pi Plus has an H3 processor - it is one of the first OrangePi Plus boards. (Is this an error in your piplus distro - just because loborus for piplus works) 2) If i download the orangepih3 file, the board will startup. I can not run sata-nand, because i get an error - abo…

I got my lite days ago, and have tried lots of images, none of them can recognize the build-in wifi Instead, a eth0 device is presented. is it the actual wlan? Armbian gives me the best compatibility so far (in terms of usb support) I can read the chip module is printed realtek 8189FTV, but lsmod shows me a 8189es module loaded. By google around, no luck for the FTV version driver. I also played with the script.bin, but still no luck. Anyone can give me some hints. Thanks.

Hi, I'm fairly new to linux and I've been trying to get my banana pi OTG port to act as a HID device when plugged in. I've been looking to do it using configfs and usb_gadget but I have no idea how to get this working. Do I need to compile the kernel with additional options to get this working? I've googled for days now and tried various different solutions but not got far with it. Any help is much appreciated.

So, the Linux Kernel 4.6 is out. Supposedly it comes with a lot of new ARM processor support. I'm excited about this. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to kernel development, especially with ARM devices. I guess the question is, what's it going to take to move the devices that use these supposedly newly supported chips up to 4.6? I'm somewhat keen on updating to a kernel that isn't approaching EOL.

Thanks for the hard work on Armbian. I finally got the EmulationStation GUI to run under OpenGL ES @ ~88fps on OrangePI PC. The trick was mostly building SDL2 from source and not installing it with apt-get per the instructions. Really want to avoid anything "mesa". IIRC, I configured SDL2 with a similar command before making: ./configure --host=arm-linux-gnueabihf --disable-video-opengl Then building EmulationStation from source using: cmake -DGLSystem=OpenGL\ ES . make make install FWIW I did symlink some shared objects into /usr/lib/ (like libMali.so) Next is sorting out libretro stuff.

I have the gc2035 camera working on my Orange Pi One running Armbian, but I need a better image sensor. I've had a quick attempt to get an ov5640 working without any luck. It is a popular 5Mpixel module similar to the RPi camera. I know that 'Sitheek' on the Orange Pi forums had it working. However, that place is a ghost town now and Sitheek has not visited since January. So, I wonder if anyone here has got an OV5640 camera working, or failing that, could just offer some pointers on how to go about this? Thanks.

Hi all, some days ago I successfully built the image mentioned above (Build environment is Ubuntu 14.04/64 bit). But today, after checking out the actual "master", I see a lot of failed copy and sed commands until the debootstrap-ng script finally fails at Mali-libdri2. The 1st occurrence of an error was during installation of "ramlog". I've inserted a breakpoint and looked into the imag…

Hi everyone, I bought an Orange Pi oneas a cheap replacement for the unobtainable Raspberry Pi Zero for a little Emulation project. Hi, Nanopi M1 is so similar to Orange Pi One that you can use the amazing work provided by jernejsk and run Openelec using the VPU of the H3. Here are the links : * Main page * prebuilt images list * Github project * The issue I've opened I'm using the embedded IR Sensor with my remote (that was the toughest part) and the only modification I made was to change to cpufreq governor from performance to conservative but if you use the latest image you shouldn't have to do that. Well so far so good. I'm using a little heat sink and the cpu temperature is between 60°C and 80°C depending of the video I'm playing.

Hi ! Ref : Olinuxino LIME2 4G with new 3.4.112 kernel When installing to NAND, on the console I see a lot of : PHY_PageRead : too much ecc err, bank 0 block 276,page 4 PHY_PageRead : too much ecc err, bank 0 block 276,page 18 and so on ... Sometimes the installation succeeded, sometimes not, but the system is often instable, and finally, fully unusable. I tried all the precompiled images, then I compiled myself, but the same problem ... Until now, I used 3.4.106 without problems Thanks for support ! Greetings ,

Just FYI: Orange Pi Plus 2E is now available for $35 and shipping costs remain the same (pretty low compared to some competitors): http://aliexpress.com/store/product/Orange-Pi-Plus-2-E-H3-Quad-Core-1-6GHZ-2GB-RAM-4K-Open-source-development/1553371_32665196281.html Please remember that this board was designed based on community requests (dropping the slow GL830 USB-to-SATA bridge and the internal USB hub and exposing all 4 USB ports physically to the outside) and should make up for a really nice server with 2 GB DRAM, Gbit Ethernet and 4 USB ports (3 real hosts ports and one Micro OTG). So now we have the following H3 boards with Gigabit Ethernet: Banana …

Hi there, I've been trying for a few hours now to get the GPIOs working with the mainline kernel (ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.5.2-sunxi). According to the board layout photo, I am using PG0, PG1, PG2 and PG3. With the legacy kernel, they export as GPIO1-PG0 a.s.o. accordingly and work perfectly. So I calculate the GPIO pin number: G is 7th letter, 7 - 1 is 6, 6 * 32 is 192. GPIO192 exports fine, I can set it to output, change the value to 1 but there's no voltage! Can anyone help me, please?

Hello, First I would like to thank Igor for his amazing work on Armbian! I know that the Lamobo/BPI R1 is very problematic with power and SATA, but when I installed Armbian 5.1 jessie with the legacy kernel, it seems that the SATA is working fine. But when I tried the same Armbian 5.1 with vanilla kernel it wasn't able to boot and the hard drive made knocking noises. Just to make sure, I disconnected the HD and it booted fine. I think that this is a software problem (maybe uboot?) because as I mentioned it works with the older kernel. I tried installing the uboot package bananapro-next as Igor adviced someone with a banana pro but it didn't help. I'm using a good…

I downloaded the jessie 3.34.112 desktop version of Cubieboard1 (Armbian_5.10_Cubieboard_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop), loaded the microSD and got the attached boot which failed. This was captured from the serial console output. The console was being echoed to the HDMI also. On the monitor, I saw the console become the graphics window, with random garbage clearing, then the HDMI signal ended. I had the HDMI, LVDS display, USB wireless keyboard/mouse connected also. TKaiser. Good evening. I am preparing an Orange PI Plus 2 in order to be the first computer for my 8 years old son. The idea is that he could learn Scratch by watching some video tutorials in YouTube The problem is that actually, if you pause a video, and the you want for it to restart, only video does it. Sound doesn't starts again. It remains muted. Then, if you click to watch another video, sound come back. But you loose it again if this second video is also paused. It's a bit annoying. Do you have the same issue ? Best regard. Maesstrissimo.

Hello, I have a Cubieboard2 and armbian in a vanilla kernel with jessie flavor. This board has a 2 cores processor. When I am logging in, load average is shown and becomes red when it is greater than 1.0. Since, there are 2 cores, it should be colorized only when it reaches 2.0. Is it possible to have this feature (taking care of each board's number of cores) ? Thank you

It worked fine, but after some mins both LEDs were on. And nothing was working. I did the things I said above many times and the same happend. And once I d…

Hi guys, I am very sorry to bother you, I tried everything I could to make this work but unfortunately, I can't figure it out. So here I am asking for help ! I am using the Armbian 4.5 Jessie (Kernel 3.4.109) on an Olimex Lime A10 board, everything works fine (Wifi & Bluetooth via USB dongles), but there's no sound. I tried aplay -l but nothing is found. modprobe sun4i_codec returns "codec not found". Could you help me find what's wrong ? I would like to avoid compiling a kernel by myself if it's possible ... Thanks !

I tried all 3 versions but they doesn't boot. I tested using Armbian 4.5. It booted correctly. I used Rufus for writing to SD. Is there anything changed for writing? Also does it support LeMaker official lcd at version 5.1? Thanks.

Hello ! I'm a proud owner of a Opi One which is supposed to be my media server and torrent server. I downloaded and installed Armbian, set it up, everything works great, but the only problem is video playing. I tried to run multiple videos and multiple formats (.mkv, .mp4) but the player remains black. If I go on youtube, the video plays but it's very laggy (like 10fps). What should I do ? Thank you ! Hi, I've tried to finally move on from 5.04, but the new image doesn't boot. At least, HDMI doesn't show anything and my router doesn't see the board when connected via ethernet. On the first power-on the green led glows a few minutes, then red one blinks a few times alone, then both leds blink and then only green one glows. BTW, legacy kernel worked fine for me, except my HDD connected with hdd-usb adapter (Agestar 3FBCP1) spits errors every few seconds and performance is unbearable.
