As per the title, I am using the 5.05 Jessie Server image on a OrangePi PC. Every time I shut it down (shutdown -h now) when I power it back up I get errors reading the SD card and it wont boot. I have tried 3 cards, all with the same issue, I can reboot the device with issue and a fsck is clean after every reboot. I do not have a linux machine to scan the card after a power off, so can't check it after it fails. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, 3 flashing led diodes of my Banana Pi make good party atmosphere when I want to sleep. what are ways to disable led diodes on Banana Pi? Is there a way to disable them without recompiling kernel? Can it be done by editing script file in /boot? What exactly do I need to change to switch them off? Thank you very much!

Hi, I'm new with Armbian, have some experience with Raspberry. I have succesfully installed it on a bananaPi. uname -a Linux bananapipro 4.4.3-sunxi #19 SMP Tue Mar 1 21:34:52 CET 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux Then I have installed Logitechmediaserver with dpkg -i logitech....deb It runs well, but after a reboot the installation is not there anymore. /var/lib is default, the init.d-script is also not there. Any hints? Edit: I have the message for 19 updates, so I made apt-get update After reboot, all updates are gone and I get the message for the 19 updates again. Regards DoXer

Hello folks, Based on the important amount of work you guys put in the H3 support and the great progress you've made, thank you for that, I am seriously considering buying an Orange Pi Plus (I need Gigabit Ethernet for my application). I need a server config with remote desktop via vnc, rootfs on SATA HDD, good ethernet performance, don't need Wifi, 24/7/365 operation. I just noticed there is two versions of the Orange Pi Plus, the "regular/original" with 1GB of memory and the "Plus 2" with 2GB of memory. Considering the price difference I am thinking of going with the "Plus 2", more memory never hurts, and I was wondering if I would encounter any issue using the …

Hello I'm investigating update from wheezy to trusty on my OrangePI (A20) based home media server. I'm using custom kernel 3.4.110 with SATA multiplier support. System is on HDD. I had few remarks and issues (part of them were solved but some are not): - Video acceleration was not working out of the box on trusty desktop image but it was solved it by installing "Desktop-extras for Jessie-desktop (sunxi)" - it looks it could be added as default for trusty. But mvp package can't be installed due to depedencies to libs which I did not found in ubuntu reps?! - compositing if OFF in xfce but when I moving windows on the desktop, CPU load is becoming 100% till I stop movi…

I have a BananaPi running 4.2 (with Wheezy) and I am getting poor network speed. When testing download a file from the internet, I am averaging ~500k/s. I have another BananaPi running 3.4 (also with Wheezy) and on that board, I am averaging ~3MB/s downloading the same file from the same location. I tested this multiple times and the results are pretty much the same. Any idea why network performance is so poor on 4.2? Thanks.

Hi, after upgrading my Cubietruck it failed to boot from SSD. I suspect this has something to do with the causes discussed here: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/690-upgrade-error-with-armbian-500-on-cubieboard2-running-from-nand/?hl=boot#entry5649 and / or a proper installation of the 'board support packages'. I got the same failure message as mentioned above: FEHLER: unable to make backup link of `./boot/bin/cubieboard.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted Directory /boot from nand1 was mounted during upgrade. I thought the solution would be to boot from SD to SSD an fix the issues. So I changed boot.cmd accordingly …

I have an Orange Pi PC that I bought from eBay a while ago and it works absolutely fine, has done for a month or so now. I have just bought 5 more from Xunlong's Aliexpress store, they arrived very quickly, however they don't appear to boot... Hello, My name is GNUser and as the name implies, I use GNU system For privacy and security reasons (though also some philosophical ones) I decided to run only free software on my machines. For example my laptop has Trisquel installed which is a FSF approved distro. I also use Debian a lot, with the main repository only available (other repositories might contain or suggest non-free software). My question is this: the images of armbian available here, I understand they are built on top of debian, but which kernel are they using? The kernel that Debian usually provides (for x86/64) is a debblobed kernel, with no proprietary pieces. Is that the case with these ima…

Hi all, I've been using a banana pi as a home server since forever. It's currently running bananian with a legacy kernel. I want to use docker to make it cleaner to use so mainline is needed. My banana pi is running off a 256Go SSD (SATA) and connected through a Gigabit Switch (that's why I did not find many replacement over the years, both low power, SATA and Gigabits are hard to find even with Hardkernel stuff). So first what's running on my server now : * nzbget * nfs server * nginx as reverse proxy * nginx + php * MQTT server (Mosquitto) * MQTT relay server (with mqttwarn) * homemade domotic stuff For all of this, I guess docker will be o…

I am using Orange PI PC for running a Deluge (torrents) and FTP server. I have noticed that when Deluge is downloading something, the RAM is getting filled up. At some point the kswapd0 kicks in and start using 100% of one CPU core. This is going on until I manually release the memory, eather with reboot or with "echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". Here you can see kswapd0 with "top": However, the kswapd0 is not visible on htop, but it shows one core at 100%. The memory usage is 111 MB. But "free -m" command shows that 865 MB of memory is used.

Hi, i am new here and like to say hello. On my new cubietruck I have one after another tried to install and use wheezy and jessie with legacy and vanilla kernels. With the legacy versions i failed because there seemed to be no video-output on VGA from the kernel. The boot-process seemed to be stopped after Starting Kernel. Then i found that it was visible on HDMI but not on VGA. Because I have only VGA-Screen on my desk i went on with vanilla jessie. But on the download-page there is the note "No audio or accelarated video". What does it mean in detail? I installed mplayer but in fact there is no sound at the jack. Isn't therefore any driver available? Which …

I've been struggling for a while to get raspberry pi HAT type LCD to working. I've been working with loboris images before until recently that I've heard that armbian has cooked a new image for orangepi with newer kernel. In the description of images it is clearly indicated that the image works with small screen lcds which it seems to be true because there is no error when I want to load a notro module and it successfully loads. I've put lcd configurations in /etc/modules but I was not successful. this is the parameters I use in /etc/modules fbtft_device name=flexfb gpios=dc:22,reset:27 speed=48000000 flexfb width=320 height=240 buswidth=8 init=-1,0xCB,0x39,0x2C,0x00…

Hi, is the image for the M1 and Pro the same? Because after downloading, the file name is "Armbian_5.04_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_4.4.3". On the download page for M1 and Pro the download links point to the same file. Looking at http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/i see only 5.00 for the M1. Another question i have: After the login i see 12 updates and i should run APT. Since years I'm using aptitude since it is the preferred and newer program for Debian. So the question is if i can safely use aptitude? Or is there something pre-installed and i mix up the package management. I will never understand why every tutorial on the web is using APT.

Hi! The jessy vanilla image works fine, but when I boot the Olinuxino Micro with a SATA HDD connected, I don't have ethernet/ssh access anymore. Even reboot _without_ the HDD doesn't work, I need to restore the content of /boot with an SD-card-reader to make it work again. Sorry, I am (yet) not really into sunxi/uboot/kernel topics, so maybe there's a simple explanation to this behaviour?

Greetings - I'm trying to use the UART2 port (Connector J11 pins 1 and 2) and I'm not having much luck with Armbian 5.0 Vanilla. There are /dev/ttyS0-7 listed, but I get nothing from them (save ttyS0 which is the main console and in use by getty). I found several other articles in here talking about how to expose the GPIO pins, but I could not see how to set the "mode" of them. Any assistance would be appreciated!

I am using an A20 micro with an old 10" LCD from Olimex, now discontinued, A13-LCD10TS All is working without problem but no touch screen. In old Olimex Wheezy image, touch screen was working with tslib. In new Armbian Jessie image there is no tslib and touch screen is not working. Also using modprobe ft5x_ts as suggested in this forum give an error message modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'ft5x_ts': Operation not permitted FEX file seem correct and is same as old FEX used with Wheezy What I am missing? I have a cubieboard2 running Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip and when I ran a seemingly innocent "npm search" command, the system became extremely slow. It responded to pings, but SSH commands were taking many minutes to complete. I was able to grab a screenshot of "top" while it was in this state (attached). Root is on SD, I set up a 1GB swap partition over SATA. My questions are: * Is setting up a 1GB swap partition over SATA a bad idea? * Why do all of the processes suddenly report 100% CPU when main memory runs out? * How can I prevent this in the future? * Is there any other diagnostics or tests that can help determine the root cause? Thanks…

Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a system as musicjukebox supporting -MPD -USB Audio -WlanAP -7"Display With the Raspbian Image of banana-pi(dot)org with Kernel 3.3 lcd works but usb-sound not. Hello everyone, Please beg my pardon if the question might seem “stupid†but I searched quite a bit without finding a solution. I’m using the ARMBIAN version of Debian Jessie on my Banana Pro with a great dose of satisfaction and I have noticed that the message about “system status†which appears on the first SSH Login Screen after each reboot provides a very useful insight into my system. From my researches I think I have understood that this is called “MOTD†(message of the day) and it is supposed to appear only once per session. I would like to display this message every time I open a new SSH Connection windows to my device, so to always have that i…

Hello, I have just bought a bananaPro. I would like to learn a little by installing armbian and enabling the video acceleration. Currently, I have no LCD display, so I would start to install Debian Wheezy or Debian Jessie (legacy) so that to be able to log in through ssh. Nevertheless, on the download page for bananaPro it is said that "Mali drivers fails to compile". Is this driver mandatory for video acceleration to work ? I figured out it was rather related to cedarX. Then, which armbian image is best suited ? Thanks in advance for some piece of advice. Best regards deb2016

Hello! I'm planning to try using kodi with my cubietruck. Should I use desktop ubuntu image, or can I customize the legacy debian one? One those things is returning memory reservations. If I get it right I should edit uboot config and add: sunxi_ve_mem_reserve=128M cma=128+16M Am I correct? Are there any other changes I should change in default config to run kodi smoothly? Hey, I am currently trying to get sending IR commands from my CubieTruck working. I am using Igors Armbian_4.2_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.108 image. But it seems like the modules are not initialised in a way that they also can send since irsend returns errors that this device does not support sending. I tried it with the hardware.conf from the image aswell as with the hardware.conf and init.d file from https://github.com/matzrh/sunxi-lirc/wiki. Apparently, I have to do "echo $GPIO-Number > /sys/class/lirc_gpio/tx_gpio_pin" which I did with the right pin so in theory, the driver should be set up the way it is supposed to be. Yet still irsend throws errors. Ca…

Hi, I´ve just search in all forum for the A20-Banana Pro. And I must realize, that it doesn't give a Armbian5.0-Trusty-without-desktop ISO or RAW. Therefore I once wanted to ask if this for "Legacy" and / or "Vanilla" possibly still comes? Because I seek the server version of "Ubuntu Trusty" for my Banana Pi Pro. Best regards, Inu

Hello, at first I want to thank you for your great work Igor 2 Days ago I installed the new version 5.00 Vanilla Kernel armbian for BananaPro on my SD card. And I was so glad to finally see a working wifi for BananaPro with mainline kernel. Today I did an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. Ever since there is no more a wlan0 interface. Have tried ifconfig and iwconfig. It seems to be, that there was installed a new kernel image. What can we do to get it working again? Also ReleaseHistory says there is a version 5.01 but the download link for BananaPro Vanilla Jessie still leads to a version 5.00 link. Kind regards Wolf

Hi! On my Banana Pi PRO, i installed this «Armbian_5.00_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_4.4.1» but applications report 'no soundcards found'. I did the apt-get upgrade for 5.01 but still same problem.

I have done a fresh installation of the Debian image (http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip), but since that the linux does not report any information on power and the battery. There is no information in /sys/class/power_supply. As I am not an linux expert, any useful informationhighly welcome

First of all: my compliments to the staff of armbian for the important work done. I bought some lamobo r1 boards to use in a production environment such as (open)vpn router to realize a tele-service with PLC. I installed bananian (the first distro that I found on internet) but after a week I switched to armbian trying to create my own image from scratch. Very well, I like to have control over things. The question is: I should connect a lipo battery to the board so that when the main power goes off a daemon script syncs sd and then shutdown, but when the main power is reconnected the board must do a reboot automatically. It is possible to do this? Where should my daemon sc…

Hello! I'm trying to make image for olinuxino lime A10. Prebuild image does not have /dev/uinput and /dev/hidraw for my touchscreen, and built without CONFIG_DRM_KMS_HELPER, so i can't replace broken EDID for my HDMI display. A month ago i succesfully build ubuntu image with uinput and hidraw support. But now - i need to rebuild it again, but kernel compilation fails with this error: LD drivers/media/usb/built-in.o LD drivers/media/built-in.o make: *** [drivers] Error 2 [ error ] Kernel was not built [ @host ] And I don't know where to find error description. I run a cubietruck with armbian jessie/legacy-kernel. I used it as a owncloud- and tvheadend-server. For the tvheadend-server i use 2 DVB-S2-USB-devices (TeVii S660 USB). I had problems woith one of them and want to replace one of them with a Technotrend TT-connect S2-4600. I could not compile the needed driver, so I tried to use the vanilla-kernel, because the newer kernel has support for this DVB-card. I could use the Technotrend-device with vanilla. But both devices stutters when displaying or recording a stream. Is this a known problem? When switching back to legacy, the old Tevii-device runs smooth again, but there is no support for Technotrend. What can I d…

Hi! I just installed Armbian Jessie on my Cubietruck to replace the outdated CubianX-distro. Title: Armbian 4.81 Cubietruck Debian jessie dev (unofficial) Kernel: Linux 2016.01-rc3 Build date: 28.12.2015 I use the Cubietruck as an owncloud-server and as a tvheadend-server. Tvheadend doesn't work properly. There seems to be a hardware-issue with the DVB-S2-receivers. One of them fails sometimes. Tvheadend often stopped. I have a "Banana PRO" One USB disk, 2TB with three partitions in ext4, the first partition is mounted (hdb1), the other two are not mounted. One USB disk, 4TB with a single ext4 partition mounted (hdc1). One SATA SSD disk with a single ext4 partition unmounted (hda1). Several aesthetic considerations: After the upgrade, reboot and login, the welcome screen and 100% battery!!! Hurrah!!! It seems that the MMC is 9% occupancy and ... oh! my hdb disk has only one partition? ah no, only reads hdb1. And the other two disks? I have two mounted partitions but only shows one. Turn off the system with the poweroff order and boot from the power button again, the battery is down to…

I'm using latest armbian with kernel 4.3.3 and got some problem: I have some usb-drives that should be mounted at boot via fstab. But sometimes they are not mounted at boot, after restart they mount normally. Never had problems with same fstab, only with kernel 4.3.3 it sometimes failed to mount. Seen same behaviour with bananian with 4.3-kernel, so maybe it has to do something with this kernel? Maybe some usb modules didn't load before mounting fstab? But i'm linux noob, so i dont know what i can do... Some suggestions?

Hi, as I need to use an OS allowing me to have Cozy and Gladys (both node.js) on my router (using them it as server) I tried to use armbian for the first time. I sucessfully installed armbian on a SD Card and boot it. My BPi-R1 is not connected to a display or other periherals (keyboard / mouse). Because I do not have those materials I sold them. I connected my computer on the first port (near the WAN one). I saw my laptop do not get an IP certainly due to the fact that LAN port seems to be manually activated. …

Hello, My problem is that curl tries to use ipv6 to resolve DNS entries and my home modem-router doesn't handle ipv6 so curl fails and fallbacks to ipv4. The process lasts 10 to 15 seconds because of this. For example (38s - 23s = 15s to resolve hostname): $ curl -v --trace-time https://api.owncloud.com 15:53:23.053958 * Rebuilt URL to: https://api.owncloud.com/ 15:53:23.055233 * Hostname was NOT found in DNS cache 15:53:38.583565 * Trying 85.25.74.45... 15:53:38.803420 * Connected to api.owncloud.com (85.25.74.45) port 443 (#0) And if I add '-4' option (only a few milliseconds): $ curl -4 -v --trace-time https://api.owncloud.com …

Since updating to the (vanilla) 4.3.3 kernel, my Cubietruck has not read the real-time clock at boot time. This causes all log messages to show "Jan 1 01:00:10" until the NTP daemon kicks in. It also causes cron to remain confused about daylight savings until it is restarted. Looking at the release history at http://www.armbian.com/logbook/I see that v4.81 / 28.12.2015 includes a fix for a "Jessie RTC bug". Unfortunately it seems that this release has introduced an RTC bug! What was the fix, and is there an option I can use to reverse it? Before the update the boot messages looked like this: Jan 14 00:45:07 localhost kernel: [ 0.000000] Linux version…

Hi again guys, I buy some usb wireless boards to connect to the GPIO with the UART Pines, but in the especifications of the GPIO, only i see 1: Has you can see only GPIO 14 and 15 have TXD and RXD... I will use too the SPI to add other ethernet so... its possible use other GPIO for TXD and RXD?? In my Pixhawk (board for drones) i use I2C for monitoring stats via wireless (2.4Ghz), maybe this pines can work for usb wireless. If is possible, how can i program other pines for that? will be any diference? (more slow or more cpu resources or whatever?) Thanks like always!

Hello, First of all thanks for the very nice dist, it's clean and optimized. Unfortunately the Banana Pi is unbootable after having done the following: Migrate the root fs to my USB drive and make it bootable with the nand-sata-install script Change the hostname (modify /etc/hosts, modify /etc/hostname, run /etc/init.d/hostname.sh, reboot) run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, reboot Each time the Banana Pi could not boot anymore, and that happened with both Jessie and Wheezie images. I can't get any screenshots of the boot screen because it's a headless server. Any ideas? mk16

Hi there, i just wanted to report my experience with Igor Pecovnik's debian 4.1.2 image - especially since he says that I2C is untested with Kernel 4.0 and above. I have a PCTV DVB-C/T2 USB Stick (Triplestick 292e) and could make it work with my Cubietruck. I had to use Igor's compile script from the project website in my ubuntu virtual machine on Windows 7 to get the kernel sources and compile the kernel with the required options (the offered SD-Card image lacks support for I2C Multiplexing). To use this stick, you have to compile the kernel with I2C Multiplexing built in, and build the i2c mux modules for the chipset (I compiled all i2c_mux drivers as modules si…

I wanted to try 3.4 to see if I could build FFmpeg with the legacy Kernel. When I run any of the three (Trusty, Jessie, Wheezy) as soon as the script says starting Kernel, I get a few blue and green noise lines on the screen and then the screen disappears. I can use SSH and.the system is booting up and running. The one thing that I noticed is that when I log on, the name of the machine is LIME instead of MICRO. I'm running an Olimex Olinuxino Micro. Is there a config file that I need to tweek, or is the Kernel setup for a LIME? thanks MikeC

Allwinner video HW decoding on A10/A20 using VDPAU and GLES zero-copy support for Linux There is (unofficial) support available for video HW decoding and embedding the video zero-copy via GLES within Kodi using libvdpau-sunxi and VDPAU, i.e. unlike the kodi support from rella/empatzero/others the GLES layering (video overlays) do work completely in this implementation. Additionally my driver implementation supports DivX/XVID/MS-MPEG and has sprite support for MPEG-4 over the official libvdpau-sunxi implementation. Additionally there is HW JPEG decoding support available in Kodi too, e.g. watching photos these get decoded via the Allwinner HW. (unluckily pic thumbnails…
