Hello, with 3.4. kernel I could use my csi-cam on my R1: #5.0 Mega Pixel Banana PI Camera Module for Android #and Linux. OV5640 chipset, CSI connector #Price: US $24.00 / piece from aliexpress sudo modprobe ov5640 sudo modprobe sun4i_csi0 #video stream #mplayer tv:// #snapshot mplayer tv:// -vo png -frames 1 Now I switched to armbian 4.7 with 4.2.6 to use new wifi-usb-drivers but I saw that those modules are not supported in the new kernel. :-( Source of drivers: https://github.com/LeMaker/linux-sunxi/tree/lemaker-3.4/drivers/media/video/sun4i_csi https://github.com/LeMaker/linux-sunxi/blob/lemaker-3.4/drivers/media/video/sun4i_csi/device/ov5640.c Did a…

I was curious to see how Mainline kernel performs on GbE test against a Legacy kernel. For the Armbian side i chose the nightly dev Armbian_5.27.170602_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.1_desktop.img (Desktop) and for the Legacy i chose my own build with all "Bells and whistles" (full Desktop, hdmi, camera, bt and wifi). I did not optimized Armbian Mainline, just installed and run stock. For the Legacy i optimized as usual. If there is some optimization to do on Mainline side, i missed. I have some observations about the board and results: * Board is without Heat-sink, * Legacy subsequent test got lower values, i suspect it runs h…

We have a project based on FriendlArm's NanoPi Neo Air board. Currently the devices are running Armbian 18.04 LTS loaded from emmc. We are looking for a way to update the devices "offline" / with no user interaction. We can upload data to the devices via FTP and also can execute shell scripts. We can not easily access the on-board micro SD slot but have an external SD-Slot / USB-A Port with lots of free memory on each device. Any hints or explanations are very welcome!

I need to clone a bigger (almost empty) sd card to a smaller one. I use rpi-clone on RPIs but since armbian has a single partition rpi-clone (or its forks) doesn't seem to work :-/ https://github.com/billw2/rpi-clone.git https://github.com/KoljaWindeler/pi-clone https://github.com/wbphelps/rpi-clone-wm.git Has anybody used successfully rpi-clone or other similar scripts on armbian? What is the best way for creating the smallest img files possible? With my RPIs I clone SDs to smaller ones, then I "zerofree" the created card and I backup it to an image file. I'm currently using this software on Windows which creates compressed img files so that I have no …

Hi, I just installed the Armbian_5.35_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img on my 32GB SD card for my new OPi Lite. On start-up the screen res overlaps the monitor a the top and bottom and the screen text is thin, fuzzy and illegible in places. I can see from the Fine Tuning section of the Armbian documentation and a post by tkaiser that the h3disp utility can be used to modify the script.bin file to permanently update the start-up screen res. I have a NEC MultiSync LCD1830 that's optimal res is 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz to 76 Hz so naturally I'm trying set this resolution. The monitor is connected to the Opi Lite via a VGA to HDMI adaptor. Si…

Hello community, I'm looking to build an internet cube (https://internetcu.be/). Basically, the project uses an A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 but I'm looking to see if a better armbian could do the job. Prerequisites are quite similar to a NAS : quality, stability, performance, minus 80$, Gibabit LAN, SATA, USB. So I have 4 models in mind: - Banana pro - Banana pi - A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 - Espressobin Which one is best suited and/or do you have other models in mind?

When I am active on ssh I get answers from bot in seconds, but when I try get answer without, I must wait about 1-2 minutes to answer. Do you konow what may be responsible for this behavior? For /etc/update-motd.d/30-sysinfo I noticed it likes to say my system is up 6 seconds and then when I check with uptime I notice it's wrong and has been up for hours or over a day. Just curious if there is a reason for not doing it in a way similar to this? function displaytime { # we need dedicated function local X=$(/usr/bin/uptime -p) printf "Up time: " printf "\x1B[92m%s\x1B[0m\t\t" "$X" }

i've an orange pi one and i'm running armbian stretch (mainline) on it after issuing shutdown -h now as root, the green status indicator light goes off. but i noted that the ethernet leds remain on i leave the board powered on after shutdown but since i've already issued shutdown, i assumed that the cpu has stopped while i go on to work on my pc. some minutes later, i accidentally touch parts of the board and it is extremely hot, every part of the board i'd say it is probably well higher than 100 deg C, possibly a fire hazard do be careful about this as i think the behavior after shutdown is different from ubuntu xenial. for ubuntu x…

Hi, I moved from Jessie to Stretch. On Jessie i looked under a scope and generated SCK (Orange Pi Lite is Master) is clean. However, after i switch to Stretch, my SPI Slave doesn't work anymore and further investigation reviews that it has similar problem as previous builds that extra clock cycle is generated before data is transfered. The behaviour is exactly similar to following image posted by another forumer but for earlier builds. I am not sure whether any of you experience the same problem. I bought an OPi Zero, the extension board, a 1/8-to-rca audio/video cable to plug into the AV jack of the extension board, and a 16 GB SDHC card. Loaded Armbian Stretch onto it, plugged in ethernet without any of the AV stuff just to start. The Pi doesn't even show up on my router settings so I cannot access it via Putty or any other SSH program. I turn it off, attach the extension board and av cable, and plug it into the TV in the hopes that I can start working on something with a USB keyboard...nothing shows up on the TV. I'm hoping that's a software issue and not an issue with the actual extension board I bought. I know for a fact it's loading Armbian because I can act…

as per title, armbian sucks. The last version is totally broken, unusable. Only one quarter of the screen is readable, the rest is black: why nobody has said that? Why nobody says that vlc and mpv crashes every 2 min making watching a movie impossible? The once half-decent armbian is ready for the bin now

I've noticed that Armbian builds are taking a really long time to power up on Orange Pi PC and Orange Pi One. Is there some way I can see what's going on in the bootloader that's causing these long delays? Also, if I run apt-get dist-upgrade and take the latest kernel, it never boots after that point. I think something's wrong with the boot sector (or whatever it is) that is written/updated on the SDCard. The Orange Pi power LEDs don't light up until the bootloader successfully finds an OS on the SDCard. All of the builds over at orangepi.org work just fine but the Armbian ones aren't working right. I'm using a diverse collection of very high-quality SDC…

Hi there, I do no need help how to sort it out. This is only report for Igor. I installed Jessie server image with legacy kernel on my Cubietruck few on April. I decided try upgrade to vanilla kernel about two weeks ago with command see below. And today I decided return back to legacy kernel with same command. I used command: wget -q -O - http://upgrade.armbian.com| bash And here is output of log: cat /boot/upgrade.log No packages will be installed, upgraded, …

Hello, I've been using an OrangePi PC with legacy distribution for a long time as a mini-server, it worked Ok except for some seemingly random freeze. I'm using it with an unsupported monitor size (1600x1200), so I had a modded version, and I never updated the system files to avoid having to recompile. I'd like to update Armbian to the mainline kernel version, but I want to keep all my settings/additions/installed programs, so I'd prefer to NOT do a complete re-install. Is there a way to do an upgrade without losing everything?? If not, how can I keep track of all the modifications currently installed so I can re-install them? TIA

Update: checking download file, it seems that I downloaded Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip so it's not 4.81 no matter what the download pages said. I'm trying to install upstream kernel on Cubieboard 2 and kernel never starts. Attached is output from boot (I'm getting same on serial port). I did try different sdcard (to rule out problems with it) but I'm worried about ext4fs_devread read error and partition error. Is there something more that I can try? Legacy kernel works well, but I wasn't able to just upgrade kernel and u-boot on it, but that resulted in unbootable system -- which packages I have to install to migrate from legacy to upst…

Hi All, Armbian boots fine from SDcard but when I run nand-sata-install the script complains that it has no target. A #ls /dev/mmcblk* shows /dev/mmcblk0 and /dev/mmcblk0P1 When mounted, just to see, the mmcblk0P1 partition contains the usual linux directories, so I suppose this partition is definitely the SDcard No EMMC device is present. Could this be due to me performing, yesterday a: dd if=/mnt/ArchLinux_Minimal.img of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=4M ? I did this because I read somewhere that booting up from SDCARD followed by a dd worked in some cases. Note I originally wanted to run Arch, but since there is apparently no support at orangepi.org, after…

Hi, I have an Orange PI Lite on to which I'd like to install the latest Armbian release. I had Armbian Xenial installed on the Pi Lite quite some time ago for test purposes and put it to one side while I got hardware for my Pi Lite set up for its intended use. I wiped the SD card and I was ready to download, install and set up the latest Armbian Xenial on my Orange Pi Lite when I notice the sub-heading "desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y". I'm not sure if this description appeared previously but my question is does this mean that this version, i.e. "Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y", although currently supported is no longer being updated and will theref…

Hi - Just checked out latest greatest code from git to compile new stretch image for my NanoPiNeo2 ( Armbian_5.46_Nanopineo2_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.47 ) but seems it won't boot up. Please note I am building a standard image ( thus no customised settings ) also came to my attention the board becomes quite warm, this is unusual . Thanks

After 4 or 5 boot-ups, I'm no longer able to start armbian. I just see u-boot starting and then (when the kernel is going to be loaded (message: "Starting kernel ...")) I see mess on screen and cubieboard is powered off (red power light goes down, also networking leds). I use HDMI output (unfortunately I do not have serial cable to try debug it maybe further). What I tried so far, without success: -changing SD card for another one (8GB cat4 for 8GB cat10) -replacing power supply …

OrangePi PC Armbian 5.35 with LXDE desktop Firefox 57.0.1 I haven't done anything with my OPi for 6 months, so when I tried it again, it booted normally except for not looking quite right on my big HDMI screen. I remember fiddling with this in the old immediate-post-boot phase, but http://armbian.com says to use "sudo armbian-config". There were 250 MB of updates, which took forever. Meanwhile I tried to run Firefox, which repeatedly crashed on startup. Installing v61.0.1 didn't help. Also Konqueror, but not Dillo or Midori or Chromium-browser. Back to fixing the display, I tried running it but didn't have the armbian-config, so I downlo…

After running the armbian-install program and selecting option "1 'Boot from SD - system on SATA, USB or NVMe'" the program transfers the contents of the SD card to the drive (SATA or NVMe). And it works. The problem occurs after booting - a message appears about the device being unable to mount /media/mmcboot . And indeed - the contents of /media/mmcboot and /boot are empty. The problem turns out to be the contents of the /etc/fstab file generated on the SATA/NVMe drive. The mount point /media/mmcboot has a only UUID value, but the text "UUID=" is missing before the value. After manually adding it, everything starts fine. If someone could lean in and correct th…

Film sound also exists while film started playing, but sound level near noise level and very low both (btw, kodi volume regulator not working, only mute mode working in kodi). Hi, Trying to setup audio mux on orange pi boards, for now trying to stick on orange pi ZERO & ONE ( both of them ). By mux, meaning will try to setup some peers which can play locally or stream sources they have. Let's say all peers have - x2 line in - x1 mic - x1 line out Want to dynamically connect any source to any output on any peer. For example after choosing, you can able to play line in of peer 1 on peer 1 output OR peer1 line in on peer 2 output And I think CD quality is more than enough. Trying to find any tools that will help to make this. Two solution points needed: - hardware: ?? as far as I can find, there is "line…

Banana Pi (original "model 1") A20 Was running flawlessly on Xenial - latest updates - almost everything worked (I run it on a LiPo battery to transport back and forth from work to keep my Resilio Sync data "in sync") Resilio seems to work fine - except in Bionic I can't use avahi to resolve names on my LAN... this worked in Xenial on the same hardware. The reason I decided to try out Bionic? Couldn't find a resource to upgrade from OpenSSH 7.2 to 7.3 or greater (I'm making heavy use of features not available in OpenSSH 7.2 on my other machines). I've tried tweaking my /etc/nsswitch.conf file to no avail... Sheesh - "avahi" just worked out of th…

Hi to everyone, I'm new at armbian forum, but following the project since some month. AFAIK, from last year, there are some new driver for AXP209/202 PMU for mainline kernel. One of the main new features that i really like is custom sampling frequency compared to the original driver for linux kernel 3.4 (i just remember the interval are 2 seconds). I want to use AXP209 PMU for power/energy profiling and consumption study of some SBC such as Banana Pi/Pro and some other Allwinner based SBC as comparison. The question is How i want to know current sampling frequency from PMU and how to change the frequency? (25, 50, 100 or 200Hz) What is the reasonable/best practice to write the captured power consumption value (with timestamp) into some logf…

Hi all, I have applied 12 V to the DC input of my Cubietruck (bad thing). So now I want to repair / recover everything possible... Both DC-in and battery input seem to be short-circuited, but I cannot find the exact position. Power via USB-OTG works (successful boot). The fuse directly after the input has almost zero resistance (which is good) and I have checked all visible power-related parts (doc here) with a microscope (nothing looks burned, as far as I can tell all diodes/resistors/... work as they should). When checking the resistance of DC-in to ground it gives me 1,5 kOhm with a multimeter (don't have a second one here, but I gues…
