I noticed today that there are no 23.02 images for the rockpi-4c. The images exist for the 4a, 4b and 4cplus variants but not the 4c. The 22.11 images are the latest for the 4c. The reason I noticed is that on the downloads page for the rockpi4 it is still showing 22.11 as the current images because that page is showing the 4c info, with links provided to the other variants. The fact that it still showed 22.11 caught my eye.

I installed the latest Armbian image and used a 1080P portable monitor to finish the install process. But when I use my bigger monitor with 2560x1440 resolution, it cannot output signal via HDMI. I searched about it, but most of them are about windows/x86 contents. Any idea about that?

Hey guys, First of all I would like to let you know that the default DTB has an issue, the GPU status is disabled by default. I've changed this & now my GPU is detected & working fine so far. (Armbian Jammy current) But I'm also facing some other Issues.... not all USB Ports are working, just 2-3 & the working ports sometime are randomly switching after a reboot. Bluetooth isn't working at all I guess these Issues are also related to the dtb file because I didn't find any entries for BT in the DTB. I also tried the other DTB file: rk3399-rock-4c-plus but I dont have any video output with it but there…

Armbian 22.11.2 Cinnamon desktop was successfully installed onto eMMc storage from a microSD card. However, after installing the 3D accelleration following the official Armbian instructions, the Rock 5b failed to load the desktop. Instead, after the display of the Armbian splash screen, the screen turns black with a flashing white cursor. This problem started on 25 February. Before that day, 22.11.2 Cinnamon desktop successfully operated with 3D accelleration for two months. The following was used to install the 3D accelleration: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:liujianfeng1994/panfork-mesa sudo add-apt-repository ppa:liujianfeng1994/rockchip-multimedia …

Hi, I had to change the Rack 1 HDD because I got an email telling me that this disk was broken. So I ordered new discs to make my replacement. When I put my new disk my problem started. For information my old disk was perfectly visible before I changed it and the led was functional too. I have a strange problem and I'm afraid it's hardware. Currently I have Rack 1 (HDD 1) which no longer detects my disks, there are no more LEDs lighting up, we can clearly hear the HDD lighting up, but it is not visible in the CLI and not via the WebUI. Im using OMV 6.x with kernel 5.15.89 (current) stable RAID 6 with 5 x 8To Have try…

Having a problem with my board and screen. Recently purchased a couple of inexpensive touch screens that work dandy for pi and lepotato but the resolution on renegade is too high and text just looks like dust on a 7 inch monitor. I took a look at potato xorg driver.conf and there's a lot of modes listed, but on renegade I see: Section "Device" Identifier "NOGPU" Driver "fdev" Endsection And xrandr -- listmonitors output: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Monitors 1 0: +default 1600/423x900/238+0+0. Hello to everybody, I am using rock 5b, PCB Version 1.42 with Armbian 22.11 CLI. I would like to connect IQaudIO DigiAMP+ based on the TAS5756 (https://shop.max2play.com/en/iqaudio-digiamp.html). According to the GPIO pinout of ROCK 5b and the datasheet of DigiAMP+ (page 21), this seams to be feasible from the electrical perspective. But the software perspective overwhelmes me as a linux novice. If I understand it correctly, I need more or less two things: a device tree overlay to activate the appropriate GPIOs with their I2S and I2C functionality and to tell the kernel about the attached device (DTS file or the compiled D…

Hey there, for quite a while I was using my Station P1 aka T-Firefly ROC-RK3399-PC-PLUS (with a nice case welded around) as crude NAS and wanted to do something new. However for unknown reason I cannot boot from microSD. I am used to that the Armbian boot loader should switch to microSD when detected so other OS can be used. Does not work though. It always starts booting from SPI which is fine in theory and then jumps to eMMC which boots fine. With SD inside it does the same. If I remove the eMMC module u-boot stucks to PXE which obviously fails and then drops to U-Boot shell. I played with that shell for a while including recovery…

The initial installation went fine from the flashed image on SD card, and still works fine. However, after using armbian-config to attempt to transfer the OS and bootloader to the eMMC card, nothing actually changes. It says it formats the card and then goes through the process of transferring the files, or at least it looks like it does. But when I reboot it it's still running on the SD card and no files appear to have been transferred to the eMMC. fstab lists the UUID of the SD card and not the eMMC at all; this is also true of the bootenv section of armbian-config. One thing I did notice is that there are some new directories under /mnt : '/mnt/nand-sata-in…

Hello, I am quite new to this topic, and I have found it to be quite complex. I primarily work with tiny MCUs and RTOSes, but I am enjoying the Linux space so far. In essence I would like to use the Mali GPU that is embedded within the RK3399 of the Helios64 for hardware transcoding. This isn't a novel idea, as shown by these sources: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/9272-development-rk3399-media-script/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/66675-36078-transcoding-rockpro64/ I am using Jellying, and in so FFMPEG to decode/encode the data streams. It seems that V4L2 is supported for hardware ecoding/decoding in the FFMPEG p…

I don't know where else to share this so I'm putting this here. The board recognizes and tries to the load the driver for an AR9462 QCNA222 M.2 WiFi card, but fails. I tried a custom build found on Radxa forum/github, built Armbian myself, and tried an official build. All resulted in the same error. Hello, I have been holding onto kernel 5.10 (5.10.21-rockchip64 to be exact) for a while as it has been pretty stable for me and also because I heard bad feedback from newer kernels on the Helios 64. But with the recent discovery of the DirtyPipe exploit (which has been introduced in Linux 5.8), I might be looking to upgrade to the latest Armbian kernel (which contains a fix to the vulnerability). So, my question to fellow Helios64 users is: have you encountered any issue with kernel 5.15, especially when using OpenMediaVault 5, Docker, MergerFS and NFS?

Hello, when i installed the helios64 initially i had the problem with the fans spinning at 100% (or really loud) and i solved it somehow. It was working fine with the fans spinning for one second when starting and shutting down the device. Now i finally updated the NAS with sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade sudo omv-release-upgrade sudo reboot and after the reboot the fans are now spinning really loud again all the time. Is anyone aware of an easy solution or a quick fix? Someone else had the same problem at https://forum.openmediavault.org/index.php?thread%2F42550-fans-go-on-full-and-stay-there-after-doing-an-update-in-omv-web-control-panel-he%2F= but it…

Hey, Was able to bring up a pretty smooth armbian installation for a lightweight desktop. Tips for others: Underclock Memory for stability cat /etc/rc.local #!/bin/sh echo 1560000000 > /sys/devices/platform/dmc/devfreq/dmc/max_freq For bluetooth blacklist the following modules: blacklist pgdrv blacklist btusb blacklist btrtl blacklist btbcm blacklist btintel NVME boot, use armbian-installer, but I had to manually change the firmware to this one: https://wiki.radxa.com/Rock5/install/spi#Simple_method to get NVME boot to work For GPU acceleration install panfrost. Hello, Apologies for wrong tag, but I am hoping one or more can help with what has been a frustrating process for a Linux\Orange Pi newbie. Background information: I got Orange Pi 800 due to shortages with Pi 400. I wanted to run home assistant on it. Came to determine to get what I wanted would entail having Debian installed and not Ubuntu. Flashed the micro sd card and the Pi 800 does not boot to it. I was able to remote to it via Putty, but I was not able to set it up correctly. What ended up happening was Debian got installed but not in the way I expected. The Orange Pi desktop still boots but I get system application error. The Orange Pi can see the micro…

Hello There! I'm currently using a Rock 4SE, tagged it as 4B because armbian says I should use the version for the board. I'm using a manually built image of armbian, though without any changes. I'm currently trying to figure out how to get faster boot times on SDDMC. So far: 1 - I've disabled some systemd services. Bluetooth related services have made a big difference. 2 - I've tried to disable USB and network support on U-Boot, though unsuccessful, in order to make U-Boot spend less time before booting the kernel. By applying some patches to U-Boot I got to the point where it either compiles and doesn't start the system because of some …

I know that not all features of legacy vendor kernels can be supported in mainline kernels. However, has anyone considered and/or attempted to get the OTG capability working in a current/mainline kernel? I have a couple different projects where I need to have OTG working so I can have the RockPi 4 be a USB device (e.g. mass storage, ethernet, etc.). For the time being this means I can only use the legacy kernels, but I am hoping that might change in the future. There are a number of different RK3399 boards with DWC3 controllers that could benefit from such a feature being available, right? Since I don't understand the kernel/driver/platform glue…

Hey there, I just joined the ARM universe & to be honest I lost all my skills with Linux. (all settings were made) Then I a tried a pre-release so I could finally get into armbian. Wifi : I couldn't connect via. wifi, "wifi network could not be found" But it was listed with a good signal strength. BT: no adapter was found. ( I used armconfig to enable BT) USB: just 3 of 4 usb ports were working. ( I guess it was 1x usb 3.0 & 2x usb 2.0) The Rock P…

Hi, I've downloaded the latest two images from the links mentioned https://disk.yandex.ru/d/-zSW21XKN0pfIA/ArmbianTV/20230103-edge But none of them boot from SD on my M3 box. The only one booting is the image from this link https://redirect.armbian.com/station-m3/Bullseye_legacy_xfce But this makes the cooling fan on the M3 to always spin at full speed and it's not usable because of this (it's really noisy). How can I make the other images boot? Tried both Etcher and USBimager. Please help. Thanks.

During installing Helios64 with the latest image I experienced several times that the system did not come up. Now that it is fully installed with OMV enabled, I sometimes do a reboot, and the system does not come up. Unfortunately I cannot see anything on the console level (on MacOS). After pressing the reboot button (around one or two times) the system comes up as nothing happened ever. What can I do to have the system reboot in a stable manner? Since it will sit in the basement soon, I don't want to run down every time I see that it does not reboot properly.

After 2+ years of hard work the fan of my M4V2 (in metal case with NVMe adapter) has stopped with specific burning smell. I ordered the same fan model (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003989901083.html), replaced it and there is no rotation at all. Fan has been controlled by bash script from here: Has anybody got the same story? How it has resolved? My suspicions are on NVMe adapter, through which fan is powered - some draft scheme can be found, showing 5V/12V convertor and P-MOS switch: https://wiki.friendlyelec.com/wiki/index.php/NVME_SSD_Adapter_for_M4 SBC in this case works well w/o fan (~45 degrees of Celsius) during winter, but …

As per the title: Using the image Armbian_22.11.2_Rock-5b_bullseye_legacy_5.10.110 Formatting an nvme ssd partition as BTRFS and running the armbian-install utility, install using SPI to boot, targeting ththe btrfs partition, and selecting BTRFS in the prompt results in a failure to boot. Reformatting that same partition as EXT4 and rerunning armbian-install (and making no changes to the data loaded to /de/mtdblock0) targeting the EXT4 partition, and the device boots using the SPI loader.

Hello, I have had a nanopc-t4 and a few others for a long time now. I have tried to create a working dtb for it a few different times. My understanding of device trees is superficial I have not had good success. I have read the kernels DT docs many times. I can of course run an ancient 4.19 kernel but I would much rather be at the edge. Currently I've got armbian 22, but no edp. I can boot Friendly's lubuntu and then the edp works. Although it is edp or hdmi not both. I must unplug the edp to get the hdmi port to work. Which is really undesirable. If I remember, it can only enable 2 of its 3 hdmi ports at a time, so that is likely a simple DT c…

Hi there ... Not sure if anyone has an idea here, but I have the following topic: I have a helios64, equipped with 3 2.5" disk drives, running Debian 10 with Kernel 5.10.43. Usually the system runs stable ... even for days (24/7). But every now and then the disks "fail" - which means, during normal operation suddenly the disk turn of, linux reports "sata link down" ... and the disks are off. As if they were removed. If I reboot I usually here only some "klicks" ... I assume the disks try to spin up, but fail due to not enough power (?). To recover from that situation, I usually disconnect power (incl. the internal UPS) ... try a few times, and …

Hello Folks, Good day. I hope you're doing great. I'm trying to make the OrangePI 10.1 inch MIPI DSI (product page) work on the most recent (mainline) Armbian build. I've setup my Armbian build env but I cannot see to find how to enable this MIPI screen on any build options. Here's the instructions from Page #20 of OPi 4B manual: Download the Linux source code and make the following changes in dts --- a/arch/arm6…

I tried the "Armbian_22.11.1_Rock-5b_bullseye_legacy_5.10.72.img.xz" image on my Rock 5B. It worked on an SD card, but when I loaded it on an NVME drive on the build in M.2 slot, it worked with neither the SPI Boot image with armbian-install.sh, nor the SPI image from radxa. When I have SPI loaded, and I have the SD Card installed, it just seems to load from the SD Card. When I remove the SD card, and boot the system. It seems to just stay with the LED with the blue and green elements on. I've waited several minutes without it booting. I was able to get it to successfully boot once, but never again.

Hello, Some weeks ago, I installed the "under development" version. File was named Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Odroidm1_kinetic_edge_6.1.0-rc5.img.xz Now, I see that the "advertised" version is a rolling release armbian 22.11 Jammy. Based on this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases) page kinetic is an earlier version than jammy. If I scroll down the page ( https://www.armbian.com/odroid-m1/ ) , I see a kinetic rolling weekly release. I suspect that the kinetic is an unstabled release while Jammy 22.11 is. Please can you confirm/explain? If yes, is there a way to "downgrade" to the stable version? Thanks …

Hi just a quick question What package is dt-bindings normally located in, i would assume kernel headers but i tried installation via armbian-config and couldn't see them. Can anyone confirm what package it normally is in or was i blind thanks. Was just working on adding support Waveshare Dual RS232 on SPI2, uploaded DTS to https://github.com/radxa/overlays/blob/main/arch/arm64/boot/dts/rockchip/overlays/rk3399-spi2-sc16is752.dts Atm i hardcoded the defines on machine but not ideal if it changes in the future Thanks

I downloaded the latest Armbian 22.08 image for the NanoPi M4V2 (https://armbian.chi.auroradev.org/dl/nanopim4v2/archive/Armbian_22.08.8_Nanopim4v2_jammy_current_5.15.75.img.xz), flashed it to an sd card and tried to boot my NanoPi M4 (non-V2 board). It crashes every time with the attached log. I have tried 4 different power supplies, so I don't think that's the issue. I tried the Bullseye CLI image and it fails in the same way. The Sid server image works fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Ben

Dear all; I'm looking for some help with my Helios64 NAS, since I update kernel to 5.15, zfs-dkms won't work. Which is normal, since the most recent version available for Helios64 of zfs-dkms is 2.0.3-1~bpo10+1 (tested on 1st April 2022), and this version is only compatible with kernel from 3.10 to 5.10. Then the first solution that I thought was to downgrade to 5.10 through the armbian-config tool, however when I'm trying to install the linux-headears (through armbian-config) I'm having the herdears of 5.15 (same issue with apt install linux-headers-current-rockchip64) while zfs-dkms looking for 5.10. Hello, If I unplug my M1 for the whole night. When I power up It does not start the first time. It stays stuck on the hardkernel splashScreen. If I power cycle, it starts as it should. I'm booting on the SD card and system is on nvme. System is up-to-date. Do you have any idea of what may happen? Thanks Julien

Hey everyone, i bought a Rock 3A to get an alternative to Raspberri pi. The armbian was the system which is closest to the raspberrian and i'm glad that it works so well. But Videos 720p, 1080p mp4 play horrible bad. When i use the included videoplayer or install vlc and start a video it is laggy and slow and not useable. Is there any additional driver i have to install? Do i have to choose a different encoder? Or is the Rock 3A not capeable of playing Videos? Thank you and best regards.

Hello, download page for odroid M1 states: I have two questions: - Does that mean that the system will be installed on SD or eMMC? or does that meant booting on SD is just for startup to launch system stored on NVMe (or any other storage)? - Is there a plan for booting from M.2 NVMe M-Key PCIe3.0 2-Lane in the future? Thanks Julien

Hello I just installed armbian (Gnome) on my NVME and all seems to work great (without SD card). So, the first issue I have is the resolution of the screen. I add 2560x1440 (1920x1080 was the maximum before) but the test in this mode not working. I think the cause is than I copy/paste the mode from a post on internet. In fact, cvt is not installed and impossible to calculate mysel the vesa CVT modline. How can I install CVT ? bash: cvt: command not found Thanks a lot Anakin

Hi, I own a nanopi m4 v1, I know there is no more armbian support neither maintainer for this board but I still enjoy "the other supported variants" which work very good for my needs. Until now, I only used armbian on sdcards for my system, but today I tried to install it of my emmc module. Maybe I did somethig stupid, I tried to install the bullseye current cli version from https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-m4/ on my emmc module via armbian-install. So all process of installation was ok (boot on sdcard then armbian-install => erase / format / install on emmc ...), I choose to boot from emmc too (maybe it was a mistake). => After …

Howdy, Just wanted folks to know that debian bullseye is generally getting what I need done. Specially Welcome to Armbian 22.11.1 Bullseye with Linux 5.10.72-rockchip-rk3588 is working. It is working headless just fine. Now what is not working for me. The HDMI is not showing up at all. Between my KVM and ultra wide monitor it may not be an OS issue. SD-card boot is the way I am going. Manual partitioning of the NVME was needed to install. It felt like I needed to reboot a few times to get the NVME to boot. Overall it was a better experience than the experience on the Firefly station P2 competing with Station OS. Thanks…

When using the "boot from SD install to NVMe" option of armbian-config it offered the option to format the NVMe drive with btrfs. When I selected that option, it briefly flashed an error about the partition being too small (even though I had created a 120GB partition). The actual problem appears to have been that btrfs-progs was not installed. After installing that package and rerunning armbian-config it was possible to btrfs format and install successfully. I suggest the error message could be improved. Armbian_22.11.1_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_5.15.80_minimal.img.xz

Hi, community! I wish you have a nice day! Started investigating why do I have problems trying to hear something from headphones. So, I believe there is something about HDMI audio codec related to panfrost, attached you will find info about. I guess this will be useful to catch bugs. Hello, I am new to this forum and struggling with some stuff on the Tinkerboard S R2.0. I use the CLI-version of Armbian Jammy of 23 october 2022. I have to activate several features. Picked up a P1 Pro the other day. Used the P1 installer, and it boots fine. However WiFi and m.2 dont work ( no m.2 makes it useless for me.. WiFi, i can use a dongle ) so i assume the device tree needs changed. Still a newbie at this, so unsure how i can find or extract the tree from somewhere else. They do have a couple of official builds of other OS, but not real sure how to get it from there, if you even can. Lots of googling for a tree has come up empty.

I'm trying to get this rockpro64 board to boot off of pxe/nfs. I'm able to get it to boot into armbian and to the point where it asks for the new root password. But something happens on the device where the network gets disabled which stops the NFS connectivity and the rest of the system with it. All traffic stops on the device and it becomes unreachable. NFS traffic stops, it no longer responds to pings, etc. It's not entirely frozen, for example it prints kernel messages to console if the ethernet is pulled. And after a few minutes the nfs connection times out and it starts printing this over and over. It always happens about 75 seconds…

I accidentally ripped off a capacitor from the back of the Helios64. This missing capacitor is right below the SATA connector. I searched for the schematic of the board without any success. Does anyone happen to know the value and size of this capacitor?

I'm sick of having to play reset-it-until-it-boots-then-it-reboots-later game, anyone know a similar motherboard I can use in place of the helios64 with minimal extra messing around? I totally understand that the front and back panel will be a problem to set up, I just don't want to have to hack the main case part, and have support for the five SATA ports.
