Armbian now has a community supported build target for amlogic TV Boxes (aml-s9xx-box). You can now build your own builds directly with the Armbian build system. This is now an opportunity for members of the community to move the support for amlogic TV boxes forward within the Armbian framework. I have "x96 mini" TV box with seemingly broken eMMC chip (unable to write firmware by USB). S905W SoC. I was searching for WI-FI Drivers for my X96 Mini because I was using my device with Armbian ophub's build. The only-ethernet thing kinda annoyed me so dived in and found there's a fix. A guy named lukas-kuna found a fix for the WI-FI chip (HERE). So I tried the fix and It really worked. So I decided to create a driver myself for Future use and for my fellow users. I used the Driver on Armbian 26.08 Build by ophub and the kernel version is 6.18.37. I created a Github Repo so I could share how I did it and how you could do it too. Hi Everyone, I want to turn my tv box into a Linux server. I watch a video on YouTube and the steps were clear but when I click on the link to get the Armbian Linux server link I get different results than what is shown on YouTube video. In the video I could read Linux server but I couldn't find it here when I open the link. Maybe because it was an old video from 2017 and things changed. Maybe anyone can help me in this? The android tv box(Jio STB) is completely locked down. It can run apps only that the manufacturer has included and through their store. adb is disabled. There is almost no way to sideload apps. I have tried to use UART with usb to ttl converter to gain access to root and below is the screen that I have got. I just want to just sideload apk files in it. I got couple of Amlogic S905 and S905x boxes. And i think i've used at least a 7-8 hours to see if i can get these to work again. I tried to use the lastest images with S905 boxes, and it is has been a real hassle to get it working. Some times i had to hook up an USB disk in addition to get it to boot the rootfs. And when i finally get into the OS, the network won't work. Both the built in Ethernet port and an USB Ethernet adapter. Both can detect a link, but unable to to receive IP from DHCP nor is it possible when manually assigned to get it to ping the GW. Is support for such devices by @balbes150still something that he still does?

Hi, I have an A95X F3 Air tv box that has an s905x3 chipset. I followed the instructions here. I believe i used the correct dtb file and tested out multiple others. I've tried reformatting my drive with SD card formatter. I've tried flashing my stock firmware. However I cannot seem to get armbian to boot. I'm getting no video output. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've searched high and low on the internet and I could not find a solution. I have seen aml_autoscript.zip being mentioned here and there however the image I've downloaded doesn't seem to have it. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't boot into the armbian. It hangs at "waiting for a root file system", and repeats the line many times. Then says "Give up waiting for root file system device. Then, " Alert UUID=UUID-number-here does not exist, dropping to shell". It is armbian 24.5 image and dtb file is /dtb/amlogic/meson-sm1-sei610.dtb. I created the u-boot.ext from u-boot-s905x3 file. I have recently found this great project and have converted my old unused and dusty s9xx TV Boxes to ARMBIAN for use as remote NAS and other applications. I have X96 Max Plus 2 T, Beelink GT1, and 2x Beelink MiniMXIII II (total of 4 boxes). Hello all, did any body able to login to Cinnamon version (screen shot below from here ) ? The box is A95X F3 Air first edition. For me it Bootes well and after root and user passwords are set it shows up desktop login screen and then after user login the desktop simply goes blank. On reboot again user login screen appears on the desktop but again blank screen after login. On the other hand the Armbian 24.8.0-trunk.399 Bookworm Gnome worked fine. I don't want any troubleshooting or run through logs and spend time on this but if any body faced such issue before just reply back if this happened with your box as well.

Hello, I’m working on an s905x3 Armbian system, and having issues with an intermittent watchdog: The hardware watchdog: Meson GXBB Watchdog I’ve got the watchdog service installed. Expected behaviour, happens 4/5 times: when I kill the watchdog service, it starts wd_keepalive, which keeps on pinging the watchdog. Kill wd_keepalive and after a few seconds the device power cycles, as is expected. But sometimes that doesn’t happen, and the device just continues running. The watchdog device is also then writable (which it usually isn’t, due to being kept busy by the above processes) I’ve found this because sometimes the device doesn’t power cycle after…

Hello, I've a tv box marked MXQ PRO 4K quick play (S905 soc). toothpick recovery no longer works after installing not correct android rom Anyway I installed Armbian choosing random zip file in "update" app in android. Armbian works ok, but if I remove sd card android stays forewer in boot splash screen. Also I tried flash chip short, worked once, but now I can't repeat (is quite dangerous shortin random pins, no documentation for this board) Is it possible to trigger "reboot update" from armbian? Or to start recovery from Armbian. I have android IMG with dtg.img and recovery.img if needed- Thanks for help

Hi, I'm using the image Armbian_23.02.2_Aml-s9xx-box_bullseye_current_6.1.11.img on my Box TV Tigre 2 with Amlogic S905x processor and the dtb meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb and all the things I need are working, except the HDMI Audio output. Using the command "aplay -l" it shows no soundcards found but using the command lsmod | grep snd it shows different sound modules so I think it's a driver problem Also using armbian-config and going to system->hardware it shows an empty list. Any ideas on how to make it work?

I am not sure if there is an easier way exist. 1) Downloaded the image Armbian 22.05 Jammy XFCE from Odroid HC4 section. 2) Write to SD CARD, this will create ext4 partition. 3) Use Partition tool of your choice and create another Partition at the beginning of disk and format as FAT type. 4) copy the files from /Boot to FAT drive and place the u-boot.ext file from old release which worked for you earlier. 5) Place the extlinux folder with extlinux.conf file and update the FDT. 6) Rename the files like image and initrd as required. …

From USB starts without pressing the reset button (behind AV), but for SC card needs to be pressed. Hello, i have a tv box H96 Pro+ with 3Gb ram and S912 processor. I used instructions from here, used balenaEtcher to copy data to SD card I adjusted the /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file and copied the 912 uboot to u-boot.ext When i try to boot the SD card, i am getting an error Failed to mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 as root file system. Full error in the attched image. What is confusing me is that it looks like the system is expecting /dev/mmcblk1p1 to be ext4 but when i check it in Gparted, it is FAT32 Would you please push me to the right direction? Thank you

I am trying to boot armbian, but I cannot manage to make anything load the DTB I obtained (tl1-t962x2-x301-2g.dtb) thru dumping the android boot partition. I have bought a TX60 Pro with S905L CPU, 16 GB RAM and 256 GB eMMC. I tried to run Armbian on it: wrote several images on microSD, but since it does not have a microSD reader, I plug it in in a microSD reader. Unfortunately, it does not boot from it, not even when I start it with the Reset button pressed. Is there any chance I can run Armbian on this box?

Also, usb wifi does not work on RTL8188FTV. Hi, I am running Armbian on x96 mini with S905W chip. There are four K4B2G0446D chips which from data sheet is 512MB each. The only DTB's files that work for me are `meson-gxl-s905w-p281.dtb` and `meson-gxl-s905w-tx3-mini.dtb`. Is there a way to validated for sure if I have 2GB of RAM? Is there other dtb files for the 2GB variant?

(install_aml_gxl_emmc.sh) After I tried the latest firmware (Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Aml-s9xx-box_kinetic_edge_6.0.12_xfce_desktop), I felt a big change in speed. I am using armbian on TV box S905W. with 32gb EMMC memory. actually the free memory in my EMMC is about 24gb i.e. only 8gb. used Currently, I have an additional box of s905w with the same version but with EMMC with 16gb memory. I used emmc 32gb partition backup using dd command and extract to usb, I use gparted to reduce the partition size ( ROOT_EMMC and BOOT_EMMC) to 12gb. I copied 2 downgraded partitions to 1 16gb usb, repackaged it as an img file. Proceed to use dd method to restore img file to emmc of 16gb device.
