I purchased this fake clone TV box of the classic Tanix TX3 Mini 2GB Ram 16GB Rom for around 20 dollars (including shipping). I discovered that the soc is S905L2-B and before bricking the card with attempts to install it on eMMC I wanted to know if anyone of you found a firmware for this TV box compatible with the Amlogic USB Burning tool. On the internet I only found two tx boxes that mount the S905L2 soc and they are the X7 5G and ipbs9505 and I couldn't find firmware to try to load them on my tv box, it's difficult on the Chinese forums for me to be able to find the downloads. Any advice is welcome because with boot from the SD and the armbian-d…

I'm trying to follow the SteeMan's Installation Instructions for TV Boxes with Amlogic CPUs. I'm want to install Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63_cinnamon_desktop on a Tanix TX3 with a S905X3. Looking at other posts I think I got extlinux.conf correct but I can't find any ext files and I don't where exactly they are supposed to be. The boot folder in root is empty and there's not boot folder in the boot partition. No idea what tag is relevant so I choose one at random.

After having seen the continuous hardware changes made by the manufacturers of the cheap Android TX boxes, I would like to understand if it is possible to recover the firmware, therefore the factory Android image compatible with the Amlogic USB Burning tool. After booting from the SD with the armbian-ddbr command, I managed to create a compressed file with the factory Android image but this file does not work with the Amlogic burning tool but only with the armbian-ddbr (restore) command. Since it is easy to brick these TV boxes by trying to install Armbian on emmc I would like to be ready to be able to load the original factory Android …

Hello, beloved community members! I hope you're all doing well. I haven't looked at my A95X F3 Air for quite some time, and I've got a few questions about the TV box. I'm interested in installing Armbian on it and I'm wondering which version of Armbian and Linux kernel would be most suitable. Last time I attempted this, there were issues with the RTL8821CU driver, specifically for an older Android Linux kernel, around version 4.9. I've come across this URL (https://github.com/ophub/amlogic-s9xxx-armbian/issues/269), suggesting more recent kernel versions now support the wifi chip. Can anyone confirm this, or recommend a version where there are no longer issues? …

Hi, I have finally installed armbian in my amlogic. I want to make a backup of the emmc now that it is "just installed". So if next year or whatever, if i want to go to my first day after the installation, I could go quickly. What will be the best way to create a "rescure image usb" ? In case of a disaster, could I boot from usb or only from sd? Thanks

Long story short -- I was dumb and attempted to install armbian to the emmc on my s905 box because reading is hard. So now I have a box that won't boot. I have the original firmware image, which will restore the boot partition (from what I understand, this is the problem with s905s now, though I distinctly remember running debian on this via the emmc in the past, but that's a tangent that doesn't matter if I can't get it to boot anything). I have it connected via usb/ttl uart and can send commands. But what commands do I send? The amlogic usb burning tool doesn't see this box via usb, but if I run `usb start` it finds one usb device (presumably my …

Did anyone know how can I see if my TX3 has NAND or EMMC? I not sure if this is right but I'm facing some issues when trying to install armbian in my TX3, I burned and image with balenaEtcher in my sdcard but always says kernel panic or mainline 'bootfromsd is not defined' when booting armbian. It could be because of mem type?

HI, I have another post about Mini MXIII-II (if you have it, please start reading this post: My next step, as @SteeMan said me in that post, is to check "all" things in the SD card before installing armbian to the emmc. I have detected problems with audio and bluetooth. HDMI, WIFI, USB, LAN seems to work. If you will check anything more, please, tell me, thanks. My question is about... I think that hardware is defined in the DTB file, so ... could I check one by one "all" dtb files? (I mean only ones that have S905X in their names). does it make sense? Any other DTB file that I could test? Thanks.

Hello all! This is my story: I have a TV box with S905X Cpu and I would like to install linux on it. I tried to install Armbian via a usb pen and it worked but it was too slow, then I tried to install it on emmc with the command ./install-aml.sh but failed. Then i tried to use Armbian config and i bricked the tv box 😁 After some search, I found some tutorial to resuscitate it with USB Burning Tool, I shorted 2 pins on the chipset, installed an Aidan's ROM with Android 9 and worked well. But I want armbian, and now I don't know how to enter the device again in bootloader mode because when I turn on it boots up on AndroidTV without any other possibi…

Hello, I'm trying to start ARMbian in my new TX3 mini (Amlogic S902w)...but I'm always having trouble in ARMbian boot. It always says Kernel Panic - not syncing: Asynchronous SError Interrupt. Following by a message that says CPU: (u-dev-worker) Not tainted 6.1.63-current-meson64. I tried an old images of ARMbian that I found in YouTube videos, but without success. The error changes the way that the message appears but its always this Kernel Panic in CPU.. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, I'm trying so many DTB's with all these 3 u-boot.ext, but without success. I don't know if I should change the BOOT ARGS in extlinux.conf. There's so many doubts. Doe…

My next step is to build a secure privacy oriented travel router with pi-hole, vpn and openWRT What is the recommend virtual server software for openWRT? docker or pimox? Is there any tutorial here on this community on how to install openWRT on armbian tvboxes, since I wasn't able to find anything, but some users claim they have successfully installed openWRT on their armbian tvbox. There's a tutorial on how to install pi-hole on this community and there's is also an unoffical armbian fork on github that offers out-of-the-box openWRT installation that might even work, but that is not an option for me, since they just stole the armbian name (ac…

I have an OTT TV Box, model ABOX-A1 ( 1G + 8G, S905X ). Inside it looks very similar to NEXBOX A95X. When it starts up while connected to a Protron PLTV-26 TV, the TV EDID gets changed. This happens both with the original Android and when booting Armbian. I don't think it's due to Armbian. I wonder if it is due to startup code on eMMC or SOC ROM. The changes happen at every startup and are always the same. It writes a 1 at EEPROM offset 2, and a 0 at offset 0x20. Normally, the EDID EEPROM chip is at I2C address 0x50, and many devices write protect it. On this TV it responds to addresses from 0x50 to 0x57 according to i2cdetect, and it is not write protected. T…

I have an OTT TV Box, model ABOX-A1 ( 1G + 8G, S905X ). Inside it looks very similar to NEXBOX A95X discussed at https://www.savagemessiahzine.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=770346 . It has an analog AV port, with a 3PEAK TPF632A audio line driver on the output. So, all the digital audio stuff is inside the S905X SOC, and maybe some GPIO switches mute of that analog output chip. I first booted Devmfc_Debian-Bookworm_6.1.57-meson64_Minimal-23.10.12.img.xz from https://github.com/devmfc/debian-on-amlogic and had sound on the analog output. (The later Devmfc_Debian-Bookworm_6.6.1-meson64_Minimal-23.11.09.img.xz did not work.) I used its aml-multiboot-setup.sh scri…

Hello, I would be grateful for some assistance on a sound issue. I installed Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_bullseye_current_5.9.0_desktop.img.xz on a YUNDOO Y6 TV Box with S905X. It worked fine, but I believe that there is no support for Armbian 20 anymore. Useful info, the sound was OK and the audio card was identified as GXL-S905X-P212. Then, I tried various versions of Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63 and Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_jammy_current_6.1.63. Most of them do work, but none detects the sound card. Now I am playing with Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img, which actually has meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb in b…

Recently I've installed armbian on my 905 TV box using this article as a guide: https://i12bretro.github.io/tutorials/0269.html After some experiments with dtb files and tuning everything seems to work fine except of one thing: the box can't be turned off, it boots immediately after shutting down. I've found a similar problem described in several articles, for example: https://gist.github.com/george-hawkins/a897a6fe116093a4c1f29ad19df088de It is suggested to enable XHCI HCD quirks in grub. But there is not such file in the system I've installed, the closest thing I found was config-5.9.0-arm-64 file. What is the right way to modify it to add XHCI HCD qui…

Hello everyone, I have a Tigre 2 TV BOX with Amlogic S905X, 1GB DDR3, and 16GB NAND storage. I'm interested in installing Armbian on this device, but there doesn't seem to be native support for the latest Armbian versions for NAND storage. I'm wondering if there is any way to install Armbian on this box, and if so, where I can find an Armbian version with a graphical interface and a Legacy Kernel 3.4.x that is compatible with Amlogic processors. I appreciate any help in this regard. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone, I recently acquired a Tigre 2 TV Box with the following hardware specifications: Amlogic S905X processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB NAND storage (SkHynix). I attempted to install the Armbian operating system, and the installation process started from a USB drive. Unfortunately, after the installation, the device seems to be bricked as it doesn't boot up (led red). I've read that it might be possible to recover a bricked device by putting it into MaskROM mode through a process involving a short circuit. However, I'm not entirely sure how to do this, and I'm hoping someone here can provide guidance or steps on how to put my Tigre 2 TV Box …

Hi. I'm out of my depth here, but I noticed that one of the official Armbian builds with platinum support is for the Khadas VIM1S, which has a S905Y4 SOC with 2GB of RAM. This is a similar configuration to many cheap Android TV boxes. According to some sources I can find, the S905W2 is also in the same family as the S905Y4 (Amlogic NE S4). Both are also supported by Coreelec, although I understand that Coreelec DTB's can't be used with Armbian. What would be involved in porting Armbian from the VIM1S to S905Y4/S905W2 TV boxes? Is this likely to work, and where could I start? Thanks!

Hi Forum members, I have a Beelink GT1 Ultimate tvbox (RTL8211f/LTM8830) which came to me with Coreelec, so not the stock Android firmware. I had to install the Android firmware (found somewhere on internet, not from Beelink) in order to be able to run Armbian (off sd card) and no matter which .dtb I try, there is no LAN in Armbian (no phy), but also it doesn't work in Android. Am I right in that I cannot make it work in Armbian if it doesn't work in Android? Case 1: Eth port/rtl8211f chip is damaged Case 2: the Android firmware image does not fit my tv box Is there a chance that case 2 is the situation so if I find an Android image with working LAN t…

Hi, So I trashed the eMMC on my Amlogic s805 based TV Box, with 1GB RAM and 2GB eMMC. Getting it into mask ROM mode is easy enough, but how to resurrect the eMMC, so that I can boot Armbian off an SD card, is a total mystery. Can it be done, and if so...how? Any advice, or direction to said, greatly appreciated. T.

Hello . I am new to Linux I need to install armbian on x96 mini to run Klipper server for 3d printer on it. I tried many builds but native WIFI doesn't work anywhere. Also, usb wifi does not work on RTL8188FTV. I tried to install the driver from the links https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12160-x96-s905x-driver-rtl8189es-and-rtl8188ftv-for-octoprint-and-klipper-3d-printer/ but can't find a working install kernel headers. Can someone help me choose and install any assembly for the s905w processor on which either native wifi or RTL8188FTV will work. Please help a newbie.

Hi, I am running Armbian on x96 mini with S905W chip. There are four K4B2G0446D chips which from data sheet is 512MB each. The only DTB's files that work for me are `meson-gxl-s905w-p281.dtb` and `meson-gxl-s905w-tx3-mini.dtb`. Is there a way to validated for sure if I have 2GB of RAM? Is there other dtb files for the 2GB variant?

On these other devices, I will use either Kodi or Corelec for playback. Hi, so after many hours of trial and error I have managed to get the latest Armbian with Kernel 6.1.27 running on my old mxq s805 tv box. Albeit only thing that is not working is hdmi output and wifi. Then after the image is burned, create a textfile on the root of the sd card and name it „uEnv.txt“ …

Hi, I have an A95X F3 Air tv box that has an s905x3 chipset. I followed the instructions here. I believe i used the correct dtb file and tested out multiple others. I've tried reformatting my drive with SD card formatter. I've tried flashing my stock firmware. However I cannot seem to get armbian to boot. I'm getting no video output. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've searched high and low on the internet and I could not find a solution. I have seen aml_autoscript.zip being mentioned here and there however the image I've downloaded doesn't seem to have it. Any help would be appreciated.

I use the x96 air 2g_100m (s905x3) version. I used Armbian for amlogic(bulls_eye, xfce) boxes as specified in the tutorial here. This combined with 'meson-sm1-x96-air.dtb' file worked great and I was able to boot from SD card without any hiccups. And for the first time, the onboard wifi was working flawlessly. Hi all, I just managed to install Armbian to my Minix Neo U1 on sd card. I read the faq and found that installing on eMMC is better than on sd card because eMMC is faster and more durable. Now I'm curious that if I'm booting from eMMC: 1. How can I boot from sd card again? Just in case something's wrong with the eMMC etc. 2. Can I still use a blank sd card for storage? Or there shouldn't be an sd card attached because it will try to boot from sd card? Thank you

Hello, I have an old TV Box model MX-III-4K with S802 CPU and I booted into Armbian from an USB stick. I found an older Armbian version (and dtb) that works on this box and I have network and everything, so I'm happy with it, except that I would like to add also NAND support. Anyone can advise me how can I do that? Basically I would like to be able to access its internal NAND, to read it/write into it. Armbian version is 5.77 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 3.10.108 Thanks
