I can not ssh into my Orange Pi Zero 2 . I get "incorrect password , permission denied" repeatedly. I have loaded latest Armbian 23.11 and some older images all with same result. I used "1234" as password. My Pc has Linux Mint 21.2 and I used Xfce terminal also XTerm. Both My Pc and Orange Pi Zero2 are plugged into same switch. Also used a laptop with Linux Mint 21.1 and Xfce Terminal with same result. Any ideas would be great , I'm just any average user that tinkers. Thanks

Good day, I am new to using Armbian and also this is my first Raspberry PI. So Please excuse the question but can someone maybe give me advice on how to fix my Bluetooth connection. If I try to pair any Bluetooth device it keeps failing to pair. Then I have to remove the device due to it not wanting to connect. I have got Armbian OS noble kde-neon 25.5.1 installed on the Raspberry PI 5 16GB. Please help with any advice on how I can fix this. I have also never used Linux before so I would also appreciate any advice on which applications is critical to start getting into robotics or other nice projects on the Raspberry PI. Sorry for all the question…

Hello, My sunxi_tp_temp always reports the same value (429496576.0). After digging around, it seems like it's not reading the correct registers. According to the H3 datasheet(1), pp 255-258, the thermal sensor base is at 0x01C25000. The data register is at 0x01C25080. Using the mod_mmio.h and sunxi_tp_temp.c as a guide, I wrote a little utility to print the current SoC temp. #include <stdio.h> #include "mod_mmio.h" // improved temperature print utility // GPLv2 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { float reading, celsius, farenheit; reading = (float)mmio_read(0x01c25080); //celsius = (reading - 2794.0) / -14.882; Allwinner H3 datasheet formula cels…

Hello guys, I am currently in the middle of setting up my GlusterFS cluster on 3x Odroid HC2s. I am currently using the standard Ubuntu images but hit some walls with them. The worst wall is that the Samba package does not ship with gluster library (glusterfs.so) and I can't auto manage Samba shares via GlusterFS. Does anyone know whether support in Armbian for Gluster, Samba and CTDB is better? Would you recommend to try it? Cheers Sherry

Is anyone else running their build environment in a VM? Specifically hosted by QEMU? I'm running into some strange things, and wondering if anyone has seen it. I'm running an Ubuntu (20.04) in a VM using QEMU as the hypervisor. Basically, the build generally works fine. However, as I add more features/processes to the customization script, I am starting to see segmentation faults. I see this with sudo and when I try to git pull something. This is what I get: qemu: uncaught target signal 11 (Segmentation fault) - core dumped Segmentation fault (core dumped) I got here by dumping into a bash script from 'customize-image.sh', so it'…

In both Buster and Focal 20.11.1 on helios64 commands directed to a disk increment fields in /proc/diskstats This is incorrect and does not occur in the x86 version of xubuntu Focal 20.04.1. Specifically (see https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/iostats.txt for field descriptions.): Check Power Mode increments "number of reads completed" Smart Return Status, Smart Read Data, and Smart Read Log increment "number of reads completed" and "number of sectors read" The smartd disk monitor uses these commands which makes the disk appear to be active to programs like hd-idle. The work-around is to set the inactive interval in hd…

Hi, I have an issue that is irritating me, and I'm not sure what to do about it. So on the Helios64 page (I am also using it with the Kobol enclosure), they give you a simple command like this to use: picocom -b 1500000 /dev/ttyUSB0 This is so you can access a serial TTY without an Internet connection. My problem is that the "window size" is set back to 80x24 characters. I'm not sure why this happens. I've also noticed that it somehow sets "TERM=linux" instead of what I have in my host PC's "$TERM" which is "xterm-256color" Is this by design, or is there something strange going on that I don't understand…

I am using a Banana Pi M2 Zero to control my 3D printer controller. It works perfectly running Armbian through the USB port but I need to switch to UART for 2 reasons. First I could not disable USB Otg so it's pumping voltage into the board and the display is washed out form the additional power. Second, it is impossible to use a USB cable because the USB port is only accessible from the outside in the steel enclosure. I used armbian config to disable USB and then select UART 3 to use GPIO pins 8 and 10 but can't get it to work. I keep getting a Failed to init error Is that all the config I need to do? If not what else? The overlay in my c…

Hi. I was following a tutorial on how to set up my Orange pi PC. I installed this image: RetrOrangePi_v4.3_Armbian_5.97_Orangepipc_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_5.2.14_desktop.img. So I installed it. When attempting to install microk8s, I noticed that the `ip_tables` module is missing from the provided image (Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) Minimal / IOT image) on this page: https://www.armbian.com/radxa-dragon-q6a/ Easy way to replicate: ``` sudo modprobe ip_tables modprobe: FATAL: Module ip_tables not found in directory /lib/modules/6.18.0-rc6-edge-qcs6490 ``` Is there another image that has this module are part of the kernel or do I need to build the kernel myself? This seems like a module that should be included for an image that is labeled as `IOT`.

I think I have a bad gc2035 module that I'll soon put aside, but there's something odd I don't understand. Since it's cheap it doesn't merit a lot of attention, but I've got something that doesn't make sense to me. If you understand, please let me know. An image at 800x600 is messed up with horizontal stripe artifacts (fswebcam -r 800x600 -p YUV420P -> foo-800x600.jpg) But an image at 1280x720, while blurry, does not have the stripe artifacts (fswebcam -r 1280x720 -p YUV420P -> foo-1280x720.jpg) Why aren't stripe artifacts in the higher resolution? I thought the sensor was completely trashed, but it produced a halfway decent image when aske…

Hello, I compiled a little GUI application using Qt for my Orangepi One, Running Armbian 5.41 (Mainline) . However, when executing I get the following error message: libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate I figured this was related to the graphics driver. However Mesa is running fine with the glxgears -info test showing up normally and rendering just fine. I didn't see anything unusual in glxinfo either. I found this https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/61078/qt-applications-dont-work-due-to-libegl and symlinked the library files, but the proposed fix is not working for me. Do you guys have any ideas?

I have a small group of Orangepi R2's that I'm setting up as remote snort monitors. It's my first experience with Armbian, and Orangepi and I'm very impressed. Hello, According to the changelogs on https://docs.armbian.com/Release_Changelog/, the 20.08 version on September upgrade the EspressoBin to the Kernel 5.6 and the next version 20.08.3 it was updated to the 5.8 kernel. When I go to the archives for the Espressobin (https://archive.armbian.com/espressobin/archive/) I cannot find the 5.6 version. Is there any reasons for that or is a missing link? Kind regards,

Since 23 hours, 23 views, no reply's. So I have ordered a 4 pack of the latest 4gig bananna pi's, and would like to know: 1. if Armbian will work on them, and 2. Hi all, I am trying to use a MCP3426 I2C ADC chip with my NanoPi Duo2. I have compiled a custom kernel with the mcp3426 driver in it, but I can't get it to load. The problem seems to be that the chip uses address 0x68 which is the same address that the commonly used DS1307 RTC chip uses. I have blacklisted the ds1307 module which has stopped that module from loading, but somehow '/sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-0068/name' still claims to be a ds1307. 'echo mcp3426 0x68 > /sys/class/i2c-dev/i2c-0/device/new_device' results in a "Invalid argument error" with 'i2c i2c-0: Failed to register i2c client mcp3426 at 0x68 (-16)' being logged in dmesg, and apparently the -16…

Hello, In case you haven't heard about this yet, the fact that Armbian Buster Current comes with a 5.8 kernel means it suffers from this Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=964926 which us caused by combining this kernel version (as well as future ones) with systemd built using older kernel headers. This bug is mostly harmless but it does at the very least prevent Ansible from managing services on affected systems due to 'systemctl show' exiting with a non-zero exit code. Unfortunately with the official Debian Buster kernel version being 4.19 it is unlikely that this will be fixed on their end.

Hi all, I am building an art project, and I love the hardware specs of Orange Pi PC for it. I have a graphical Java app (built in Processing) that runs on a HDMI display, and unsurprisingly it doesn't run well without a GPU. On RPi 3B+/Diet Pi I've got it up around 24 fps using KMS, and I'm happy with that performance, but now I'm porting it to the OPi so I'm kinda starting from scratch again. I am aware of the amazing work going on with Panfrost although I've had issues installing it on my board with Buster Desktop. In general Armbian on Orange Pi PC seems pretty great, amazing even. But I'm only getting about 1 frame every 5 seconds with my Java/Processing a…

Hi. Has anyone managed to properly install can4linux on the latest bananian? I used the guide: http://forum.lemaker.org/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13107 But bananian-1501 is no longer supported and there is no way to properly use it. Is there any tutorial on how to properly install can4linux and use it to send messages?

Hello. I have a new Rockpi 4C. I am caming out crazy because I cannot understand some hardware issues. If I use the 5.10 kernel all hardware is working less the GPU. The images are bad and the lines swing everywhere. But the CPU is pretty cool and sometimes the heat-sink became hot, but not forever. The resolution is only the 1024 X 768!! The bluetooth, with the kernel 5.10, is perfectly working. With the magic Armbian-Config utility I installed the legacy kernel 4.4. I switched on that kernel and the GPU is perfect now and I am reading what I am writing. BUT: The bluetooth service is gone. Definitively! The USB ports are gone too!! There is only one usb port wo…

Hello everyone, Over the past year or so, I've been getting back to my utilite pro board that bought quite a while back. After asking a few things to Compulab, and figuring out some of the bad download links to get their latest resources, I could finally upgrade to their latest Ubuntu build, that was based on 12.04. So not so recent. I am not the most aware user when it comes to arm devices, but a page on the Debian wiki pointed out to running buster on the board. Then, I came across the armbian ecosystem, and thought, well, I'll give it a try. Kudos to the work done. This looks impressive. The past days I've been trying to co…

I have a pair of Orange Pi 3's acting as redundant PiHoles on my home network. After a bit of tinkering and configuring, I have them set up the way I want, and would like to keep them that way. Of course, a good backup plan is essential to this. Looking online, I found Image-Utils for Raspberry Pi, but that is limited in support for only the Raspbian OS. Is there a good system out there to make a cloneable image of an SD card in an Orange Pi, either from the Pi itself to a remote source (NFS mount, etc.), or from a remote source pulling from the Pi? I'd like to schedule this as a CRON job, so that in the event of a hardware failure, I can just re…

Hello guys I am looking for any help or hint on how to start the work stated in the title: Porting Audioinjector Pi SoundCard overlay from Raspbian to Armbian. I would like to use the card on OrangePi platform based on because H3 SoC has all required hardware: I2C, SPI, I2S(?). The code I found is in Raspbian github repository https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/3f53e7886737a975e3fe76bc8ae6cc78f33c8cf8/sound/soc/bcm. As far as I see, the sound card driver is based on WM8731 codec and it is using on BCM SoC I2S interface.. Can I use the similar I2S interface on Sunxi SoC? Does current mainline linux allow me to do this port at all? …

I've tried to compile libgpiod (my assumption is this is a user space lib) and it depends on gpio.h which is used by the kernel. According to https://github.com/brgl/libgpiod/issues/22 gpio.h should be installed with linux-libc-dev which is already installed and gpio.h is missing. I installed the kernel headers and tried (it ends up with typedef conflicts): ./autogen.sh --enable-tools=yes --prefix=/usr/local CFLAGS="-I/usr/src/linux-headers-4.14.14-sunxi/arch/arm/include -I/usr/src/linux-headers-4.14.14-sunxi/include" configure: error: linux/gpio.h header not found (needed to build the library) I've attached the config.log. Setup: I have a small home network with several SBCs, PCs, NASs and two devices are running Armbian ARMBIAN 5.59, ARMBIAN 5.59 stable Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.65-sunxi for the Orange Pi Zero and ARMBIAN 5.59 testing Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.65-sunxi for the Cubieboard 1. The OPi Zero runs the PiHole application for the whole network. There's a MikroTik router which does DHCP for the network. Problem: The Armbian devices are not able to do a local name resolution, a `ping router.lan` or `ping orangepizero.lan` or `ping cubieboard.lan` from either device gives the error: "Name or service not known". I'm looking for an automatic, effective way to switch between my AP and a configured wireless network. If this is the wrong place to ask, please feel free to redirect me to another location. I'm thinking about using an SBC to create an application-specific coprocessor. A laptop would stream h.264/h.265 2kx2.5k yuv420p compressed video thru USB to the SBC (functioning as a USB gadget with separate power supply) and the SBC would decompress the video frames, apply a sequence of affine transforms to each (decompressed) image, and stream the warped, decompressed images back to the host. This would use the SBC hardware-assisted VPU decompression and GPU for warp processing, and the Arm CPU side would manage the YUV420p-RGB conversion and buffered super-speed USB t…

Hi all, I've been reading a lot about VPU acceleration for h264 decoding and encoding. However, it seems that there is not much regarding transcoding (decoding + encoding). I would be interested in decoding 1080p h264 and encoding it back to 720p h264 in realtime. Ideally having that operation on 2 streams in parallel would be great. I've seen that quite some work has been done in cedrus : https://linux-sunxi.org/Cedrus As I can, h264 decoding seems to be supported but encoding is unclear. And there is obviously no comment about running both operations at the same time. Since I would like to run a few tests and maybe help a …

Hi guys. Igor if you are reading this, I'm Paul H. on the facebook Opi board. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that I think something is breaking with the recent builds. I did a standard download install on an opi plus (eos) and got nodm errors when I went to install the desktop. Then on second run it sent me into a menu to select lightdm or nodm, and I've never seen that menu before. That installed some stuff when I selected nodm, but then failed. Subsequent apt-get installs gave me nodm errors. The desktop is not booting at all. So then I decided to move to a cubietruck and did the same thing, except it boots into the desktop and…

Hi, I just ordered a NEO2 that I intent to use as a Tvheadend backed. Actually will use two at different locations, the problem is with the kernel bug affecting the DVBSky S960 DVB-S2 USB tuner since a kernel commit in 4.10rc1 Luckily, this has been fixed recently, and there is a patch as well. The patch has been submitted for upstream devs LINK And LibreElec also included the patch and will be fixed (finally) in their next beta LINK I wanted to ask if it is possible to include this patch to Armbian kernel (maybe a beta or nightly) in order to make DVBSky S960 work? Many thanks!

Hi everyone, I have a Helios4 NAS on which I have installed Armbian 5.85. I used the Armbian-Config to install OMV 4.1.23-1 (Arrakis). I used OMV to configure some CMB/CIFS shares which were working properly. I connected to my server via SSH, and performed an apt update/upgrade, and I think this broke my SMB shares. According to my Googling, Debian now uses smbd instead of samba. When I try to access my shares at \\192.168.1.x I get a message that says "The specified network name is no longer available." When I run sudo service smbd status, I get the following: ● smbd.service - Samba SMB Daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/smbd.service; enabled; vendor p…
