I have a Clusterboard and the latest images (Stretch and Bionic) do not work with my SOPINE modules. Legacy 3.10 (Xenial) works. I've been told this is a problem that has been resolved before but somehow the fix has been left out of the latest images. What is the process for getting it back in? armbianator didn't generate a URL so I'm manually pasting it here: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spoiler ### Activated 4 lzo zram swap devices with 248 MB each ### Activated Armbian ramlog partition with compression ### Activated 4 lzo zram swap devices with …

For compatibility reason I'd like to have an NTFS data partition as partition 1 and the ext4 system partition as partition 2. I achieved this with debian installer, but I fail doing so using armbian. Can you tell me how to achive this for armbian? My idea was to copy the prepared partition from armbian-SD-image to partition 2 and configure u boot to start from there, but I failed in doing so... thank you

This isn't Armbian per se, but I thought it worth mentioning for anyone considering a SOPine Baseboard. Pine chose a small coaxial power jack instead of the micro USB for the main 5V input. This jack is kind of an odd size, but it also seems pretty fragile, especially when the extra leverage of a power cable is added to it. I broke the mount on mine within the first 20 minutes of use. It still worked as it was just the mechanical mount, but it became position sensitive and a pain to use. You can still power the board via the Euler bus, and that's what I switched to instead. If this isn't appropriate for this forum, please feel free to move it (or d…

Hi everyone, I've updated my pcDuino via: Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get upgrade I can reach 8.8.8.8 from the terminal and google.com from the Chromium browser. However, I cannot reach any other website. I am guessing it has to do with the latest TLS requirements. TLS 2.0 is required for 99% of global websites. I'm presuming my pcDuino is on an older version for TLS 1.0/1/1 Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated Thanks

I've noted that 'armbianmonitor -u' will obfuscate some detail such as IPv4 addresses prior to uploading, but it misses similar additional detail: IPv6 addresses, specifically 'global' scope, are left intact. These are on interface configurations and in resolv.conf configurations at least. 'domain' and 'search' directives in resolv.conf are left intact. These can (would) include local domain names, which may be sensitive outside of a given environment. username is exposed in showing group membership. This may be minor but in some cases may be sensitive outside of a given environment, and perhaps can be shown anonymously such as '### Group membership o…

I read a lot of U Boot documentation the last hours but I still fail at fundamental understanding, like: - where can variables be set? boot.scr obviously, but there is also uEnv.txt boot.cmd armbianEnv.txt ... and in which order and precendence are they parsed? (If I set a variable in different files, which value will be used? first? last? ...) - how is a change made persistent (saveenv does not work) - Can sub-variables be changed, e.g. root in bootargs what I am trying to achieve atm is to change the boot partion rootdev from p1 to p2. Even thou I think I patched the relevant files, printenv shows that bootargs and rootdev are still set to…

Hi all, I'm experimenting with OPi Zero 2+ and I would like to flash onboard eMMC with a fresh Armbian (from a clean img, not from running system). What I did is booting from SD, downloading an Armbian img and dd'ing it into emmc device file, being sure it would have been enough since is what we do (I think?) when we write img to SD cards. I found out it won't boot unless I manually flash sunxi-spl.bin at 0x2000. What am I missing? Isn't that supposed to be flashed with image? Is dd a proper method to flash a clean image on mmc from a running system? Thank you

There's a cheap M2 SSD, for example for sale here, but it would be a bad idea to use it in any ARM board with an M2 drive slot. I have one of these M2 drives in my laptop, and I learned the hard way how slow it will get within 1 year's use, like 30MB/sec read, 8.5 MB/sec write! Over time, this drive will gradually go slower and slower and slower, until you figure out you need a firmware upgrade. Then you'll need to use the closed-source firmware-upgrading CLI utility that Micron publishes. There is a version for linux, but it's AMD64 only. You might think you can put the M2 drive in a USB-3.0 enclosure, then firmware upgrade it in that enclosure…

I found the CAN device driver sources in sun7i_can.c - CAN bus controller driver for sun7i to configure the gpio pins for the special case of acting as TX and RX for CAN, the following function calls are used: sw_gpio_setcfg(GPIOA(16), 3); I try to use this code to implement the can4linux module an a BananaPi M2-Berry using Armbian stretch but are not able to find any prototype of such a function sw_gpio_setcfg(); nor the definitions of the gpio ports like GPIOA. What ist the correct way of accessing the gpio ports from within the kernel? Thanks for helping.

I want to make an Armbian image with BTRFS rootfs. I did, it works. My problem is the default setup only assign 58M to the partition for /boot, leave only 18M of free space. I want to make it 150M. I had some bad experience related to such issue before - when I did an "apt upgrade" that involves building of new initrd.img file, the /boot partition is too small to allow the upgrade. So, I want to fix this issue before I build other stuffs on it. I have browse the docs.armbian.com and read couple of README under the build/ folder but find no hints. Thanks in advance for your help P.S. I think my question should be a gener…

Apologies, the links on how to change the Armbian boot kernel don't lead to any documentation. I am wading through the u-boot documentation tree now, but somebody may have an answer to a simple question. I manage to make my device unbootable by using armbian-config and selecting a development kernel vmlinuz-4.20.0-rockchip64 I have mounted the disk on a ubuntu laptop and I take it u-boot is similar to grub2 in that its not just a case of changing the symlinks Image -> vmlinuz-4.4.167-rockchip64 Uinitrd -> uInitrd-4.4.167-rockchip64 you have to do a grub2-mkconfig command \ grub-update in order to boot strap t…

Hi folks, I'm new to the Armbian project. I have an old board (pcduino3nano) that I never managed to get working because I found the built in OS to be lacking and the general linksprite environment poor as compared to that of the RaspberryPi. So I put the pcduino away for awhile and never really got anywhere with it, but recently decided to give it a go again. I found two projects that claim to "officially" support this board (either current or past). Armbian and Fedora for Arm. Because Armbian has EOSd the pcduino family of boards I started with the Fedora project and found that it worked but only as a server/cli the GUI no matter which deskto…

apt upgrade updated the kernel of Banana pro, according to symlinks in /boot from Updated 4.9.0-7 to 4.9.0-8. I read that I'd have edit uEnv.txt in order to solve the console issue and continue debugging the issue, but I cannot find this file anywhere on the partition. I tried to revert boot.scr but this did not change anything. I probably could revert to the old kernel by changing the symlinks as well, but I would rather like to use the new kernel....

Hi All, as I just started with armbian on one of my R2s and I would like to share my learnings.... 1. Hi, After upgrade from xenial to bionic we found a problem with R1 internal WIFI. First connection to any wireless network with nmtui works wihout problem. But after that if we try to switch to another wireless network it fails. It doesn't even reconnect to the first network ever. Have you experienced the same problem ever ? What is wrong with the internal wifi ? It was working good in xenial. I blacklisted the internal driver and using external wifi adapter for now. There is a bug (not really a bug...) in the copy process with rsync. Please add the -x option to rsync to copy the root file system to a SATA/USB drive. I have cifs/nfs filesystem from my main (file) server mounted and the installation tries to copy alle the network-drives to the local SATA/USB drive. Yes, it tried to copy hundreds of GB to the local 60GB SATA/USB drive! And... the script removes all extra fstab entries, so all network filesystem mounts are gone! Please, correct this bug!

Hello, I own boards of two different manufactures, namely a Cubietruck and an Espressobin. I'm trying to get something beyond Android on a Jide Remix Mini. Originally sold as an "Android PC", it's now unsupported by manufacturer. The configuration is not bad: Allwinner A64 SOC and my unit has 2GB of RAM and 16 GB eMMC. Unfortunately, linux-sunxi lists it as (yet) unsupported. I'm not that knowledgeable with image building, so any help would be appreciated.

Hello all, I'm using Armbian 5.73 stable (Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS) for a year or so on an OrangePi Zero. That little box is working as a backup box and network-wise DNS server via DNSMasq (ver. 2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.5). The OS and general system is working very stable, but I'm having issues with DNSMasq. It's solving both local systems' names via /etc/hosts and internet hostnames for the whole network. Sometimes, DNSMasq stops solving external addresses. There'll be no error and warning messages anywhere, and when pinged with kill -USR1 signal, it happily prints the current stats. I'm running with a cache size of 6148, and I see no cache overflows in the…

No matter which image I take (stretch/bionic; Bananapim2/Bananapim2ultra; 5.38/5.69) my Banana Pi M2 Berry with it's Allwinner V40 won't boot correctly. The attached screen stays off and the LED keeps shining red. I used Etcher 1.4.9 portable to copy the image to an 16 GB MicroSD. It's worth mentioning that the Pi and the MicroSD work just fine if I'm running it with another distro, like the 2018-05-24-raspbian-jessie-preview-bpi-m2u-sd-emmc.img from the official website. If I'm using the image Armbian_5.69_Bananapim2ultra_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.13, then I'm able to access the Pi via ssh. Yet, the screen won't work at all. As an interesting side …

Hi all, I have a OrangePi R1 and want to enable SPI in U-Boot to talk to connected leds. The leds are connected to SPI0 on the pins: 19 (MOSI), 4 (5v) and 6 (GND) . I enabled the CONFIG_SUN4I_SPI flag to enable the sunxi SPI driver. I also added the following lines to `arch/arm/dts/sun8i-h2-plus-orangepi-zero.dts` to enable both SPI0 and SPI1. &spi0 { status = "okay"; flash@0 { compatible = "mxicy,mx25l12805d", "jedec,spi-nor"; }; }; &spi1 { status = "okay"; }; To control the leds I added a call to the following function inside the `board_init()` function inside: `/board/sunxi/board.c`. static int set_leds() { int bus …

Hello, I have an OrangePi Zero that installed apache2 and PHP 7.0.33-0+deb9u1. I have also a NextCloud server installed. After update of NextCloud to 15.xx, system status shows me a warning about PHP version. I have tried update to newest PHP (7.1 or newer) but there is no newer version than PHP 7.0.33-0+deb9u1 on Armbian repo. Do I have to wait update from Armbian repo or can I update it from PHP's offical releases ?

I'm trying to compile Qt5 on my system, following this guide, got the "E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list" message. After some Google, I know you have to enable "Source code" in software-properties-gtk to use "apt build-dep", but I can't check the source code options in there. ps. armbianmonitor -u didn't gave me a URL, it detected some sort of networking problem.

Hi, toying around with Odroid C1 kernel compilation and trying new kernels (both 5.0-rc2 and the mainline amlogic kernel) there are some patches that do no apply correctly. Both general-packaging-4.17-next.patch and general-increasing_DMA_block_memory_allocation_to_2048.patch apply correctly if I remove the part of the patch referring arm64 architecture: is this fine? For sure Odroid C1 is a 32-bit SBC.. does anyone knows why there are references for arm64? If you agree I can create a pull request to remove those lines... Thanks **Bye Piero
