It seems my OrangePi Prime was loosing stability over the years. It was working fine initially, then it was hanging up from time to time - and now it no longer can boot on stock armbian settings. It bootloops on "Starting kernel ..." in serial console. But when I set voltage to 1.3v in armbianEnv.txt - it booted ok. So it seems to be a hardware issue. Does anyone know if there is CPU VDD test point somewhere, or which regulator is responsible for CPU voltage?

I have a small group of Orangepi R2's that I'm setting up as remote snort monitors. It's my first experience with Armbian, and Orangepi and I'm very impressed. I have an odd issue that is puzzling, not of practical importance to what I'm doing, but annoying none the less. The set up I'm running is based on the main Armbian buster "Armbian_20.02.0-rc1_Orangepi-r1_buster_current_5.4.14. Linux probe1 5.4.14-sunxi #rc1 SMP Sat Jan 25 15:19:01 CET 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux I've substantially modified that to use systemd-networkd, systemd-resolved and systemd-timesyncd. My issue is that I have a dummy interfac…

I have been trying to get a 7" waveshare touchscreen to work with the orange pi zero2. I've checked that the touchscreen isn't faulty by using with a raspberry pi. I also checked that the output from the orange pi is working by using my computer monitor. It just doesn't want to output to the touchscreen (hdmi). There seems to be some thin grey horizontal lines. I do get a flicker at startup of the orange pi, but that is about it. Any idea's? I'm new to armbian, so if you have an idea, please list me some steps or point me to some documentation to help. I appreciate the help.

Hi, I need to configure a GPIO as input with pullup enabled and tried https://forum.armbian.com/topic/10462-nanopi-neo-2-set-input-pull-up-via-device-tree/ For some reason PIN PG06 is still floating. Hi, First of all i'm NOT a software developer and i have NO one skill on this kind of board's hardware... I've a good soldering skill, so just for fun i've bought a new RAM module for my OrangePi Zero Board... I've bought a K4B4G1646E-BYMA RAM module and then i've replace the onboard module... All of the work gone fine, the OrangePi Zero still boot and work perfectly, but i was hoping to upgrade the RAM on the board... After the boot, in the welcome screen the, the RAM amount is now 512MB (494MB) and before was 256MB... The RAM amount is now increased, but not like expected... I've choose the K4B4G1646E RAM module because, theoretically, it was a 4GB RAM m…

Hello. First, I have an LTS board that provides only 3.05 on the 3.3 pins. Is it normal ? Anyway, in case this was the issue, I have built a new voltage regulator, and now supply the DHT22 and pullup resistor with 3.60V My issue is simple: when plugged on normal 1W bus, the DHT22 kills the bus, and makes other devices non working. I have moved all other devices on a new bus, leaving the DHT on a bus I know works fine. Some people mentionned the DHT is not compliant with official 1W libraries, and can not be recognised with normal timings, so, special libs are required. I have removed param_w1_pin=PA06 for the hysical pin 7, and installe…

Hello, I have an OrangePi Zero that installed apache2 and PHP 7.0.33-0+deb9u1. I have also a NextCloud server installed. After update of NextCloud to 15.xx, system status shows me a warning about PHP version. I have tried update to newest PHP (7.1 or newer) but there is no newer version than PHP 7.0.33-0+deb9u1 on Armbian repo. Do I have to wait update from Armbian repo or can I update it from PHP's offical releases ?

Hi This issue is produced on both flavors of Linux for the orange pi zero i.e. Debian and Ubuntu. I am trying to login to pi zero using the serial terminal. First time it asks me to change the password, which I changed. Then using that changed password I tried to login into it. However, whenever I enter the password in it. it restarts. I even used the external high power phone charger to test this issue but in both cases result was same. Any solution to this problem?

Hello there, I am looking a way to get / write a script for the file to be run on startup. I am running PiAware with dump1090-fa installed. I would like to having the view1090-fa --modeac to be auto run when the system is ON. Is there a way to get this work without my concern in the future? Currently if I need to run this command, I need to run SSH and remote the Pi to run this command from my PC. Thank you in advance. Regards, SaiHou

Hi I'm trying to use OpiZero with a relais module. I noticed, during the boot the pins I tried (12 and 11, physical 3 resp 5) go high, which makes impossible to manage the relais module. Is it a HW/SW bug or limitation or something what can be configured somehow. I would expect the level to be "nothing" ;-) Thanks Chris

I would like to use the uart of the orangepi zero 2 for an application. It esists for example /dev/ttyS5. But unfortunately the communication does not work. When I connect minicom to this port and short the two pins 8 and 10, I wanted to see the characters that are sent. Minicom can be connected (minicom -D /dev/ttyS5). But the characters are not mirrored. Do I need to enable the UART before? How to do this? The orangepi-config program does not exist on the system. The system reports after the login with: Welcome to Orange Pi 3.0.6 Bullseye with Linux 5.16.17-sun50iw9 Thank you for your thoughts.

I'm using OrangePi-Lite2 board with image : Armbian_20.08.1_Orangepilite2_buster_current_5.8.5.img Most of the functions that are important, do work well as of now. There are two major issues : 1. I setup my Bluetooth headset from armbian-config and it is paired and connected and I'm able to output a .wav file using aplay etc. However, I can not record anything from the microphone with arecord. No devices are listed for recording. But when I connect a USB microphone to the board, I can record well with arecord. Bluetooth record function is very important for me right now. Appreciate any pointer as how to get it to work. Thanks. …

I have several Pi3s and two Asus Tinkers. They work well, Tinker is a bet better of the two. Want something fast to use with my 3D print. and Octoprint etc. So want to run CAD software, Slicer etc. and control of my Creality CR-10. - So, I bought OrangePi and had bad initial experience, and boot SW was in Chinese. So I returned it and got their best? The OrangePi 2 Plus. - Should have been better. My experience is it is very very temperamental. I found, and I see others have experience power supply issues. 1. Must make sure the 5V does NOT go below, 5Vs. The average current runs between .5 and .8 Amp. but there are large peaks. I used a 3A raged supp…

Hello everyone, I have a question. It is about SSD memory, which can be connected to the usb3 interface via a converterbox SATA 1,2,3 to the OrangePi3 device. I did not find any helpful information in the hardware recommendations inside the Arbian Forum for OrangePi3 H6 all winner (looser). Before I jump into the cold water like with my RPI 4b+, I am interested in which SATA 1,2,3 adapter to SSD to USB3 works with the OrangePi3 devices. I already know that the NVME slot and memory is not supported. And a usb3 converter with SSD additionally absorbs power. Thanks for Help

Hi all! Sorry about my English. I just started learning Armbian. Please don't scold me for my ignorance. I have an Orange Pi 3-lts. I installed an "Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi3-lts_bullseye_current_5.15.93" OS on it. Transferred everything to EMMC. Installed Clipper. I started experimenting with the rotation of the display. (everything seems to have turned out as I wanted!) But damn! Wanted more! I wanted the startup process log to not be displayed on the screen when the OS was started. I read somewhere on the Internet: change in armbianenv.txt console = botn on console = serial. I listened and changed. And now I can't manage my OPI. I can't connect via terminal b…

I have attempted to install OMV on my orange pi various times and i have had the same issue weather with the OMV after installation or with the armbian os before the OMV installation. when you start the system, it just won't get it's Ip automatically, at first i thought my orange pi came with a problem from fabric since I'm new to this but after attempting to put an Ip statically seemingly making it work I noticed that it just would not be set automatically. Now surely you might think it's a problem with my router set up, but this won't happen when I try it out with any other equipment in my house or when i just run regular Linux in my laptop, even when i run the OrangePi…

Hello all, earlier I booted up the board (Radxa Dragon Q8B) when it prompted to reboot & update and I allowed it. The update took uncharacteristically long. The OS is running off an SD card. There is no SSD or eMMC installed. Turns out it wiped the install clean. There was about 20 GB of free space prior to the update, now there's 46 GB. For some reason the user itself and the wifi login are still there, but everything in the home directory is gone. Installed applications and the driver for the wireless card are gone. Chrome add-ons are still there, but reset. The Downloads folder now has Armbian_26.8.1_Radxa-dragon-q8b_resolute_vendor_7.0…

Hi, I've had orange pi one laying around and also couple of camera modules scrapped over different devices, which only one seems to be the "known" model of ov2640, which is supposed to be supported on linux mainline kernel, but unfortunately no module is compiled into armbian image, so I've had to compiled it solely for the running kernel. After lot of digging into the thing, mostly getting inspiration from this forum and threads about 5640, I've tried crafting overlay, with different results. This is the latest attempt, which created /dev/vide0, but no /dev/media0 is made, and also loading module fails with: [ 5812.695851] ov2640: loading out-of-tree modul…

Upgrading to the latest Armbian build 5.15.25 on the M2-Zero has caused the camera to stop working. I had a build from https://github.com/Qengineering/BananaPi-M2-Zero-OV5640, and ive seen my camera work with Gstreamer but i now need it to use the hardware encoding. So i used https://wvthoog.nl/nanopi-ov5640-camera/ to enable the Cedrus encoder, but upgrading the devices loses the camera and /video1. There is no /video1, or media1. Ive tried to edit the dts files, build and push them but no luck. Any advice here would be good. I know there are a few topics on here on this subject, but they are all slightly different issues because of the ke…

Hello, I have enabled overlayroot using "armbian-config" command line tool (in my orangepi PC). My current OS is Armbian Focal xfce desktop After rebooting, I noticed that the entire filesystem stills writable. I checked the content of ( /etc/overlayroot.conf) using; cat /etc/overlayroot.conf this command show at the end of the file these two lines: (after commented content): overlayroot_cfgdisk="disabled" overlayroot="tmpfs" If I well understood, normally, with such a configuration, the filesystem should be set to read only., but in practice, it is not. Could you assist me how to resolve this problem?

I get that message no matter if I choose to have the boot partition on eMMC or on microSD. And I don't know much about partitions. What partitions should I create? Where should I create them? How should I create them? Thank you!

I am adding support for a new board: NanoPi R2S Plus. I have added it to the kernel and it works in testing so far. Now I am attempting to add the new board to u-boot. The u-boot configuration for NanoPi R2S does not enable the eMMC and I want to install to boot from eMMC. Using my modified kernel and u-boot for NanoPi R2S I am able to run armbian-install because in the system booted from SD card the eMMC is enabled. But after installing to eMMC, shutting down and removing the SD card, boot fails because u-boot cannot access the eMMC. Looking at the device tree for NanoPi R2S in u-boot, not surprisingly, eMMC is not enabled: NanoPi R2S does not have eMMC memor…

I am using Armbian 23.5 Jammy XFCE on a Tinker Board 2S. I have a number of issues to sort, one of them being display. The display is receiving a 16:9 signal, but the right hand side of the screen is covered by a black-white-green pattern under which I can move windows (image attached). How can I change the settings to avoid this?

Hi , My son purchased a PCdunio v3, wifi enabled with his birthday money with the grand plan of "coding". This idea is slowly going down the drain. It is using Ubuntu 3.4.79+ It does not detect any wifi or ethernet. I have confirmed that both interfaces are up. I have tried with and without the SD card. I confirmed the router is not blocking the device. I can see that the State of wlan0 is unmanaged, but cant figure out how to fix that. I have tried manually creating entries for the network but this was unsuccessful. When it does try to connect to Wired Network, it simply got stuck looking for an IP address and never amounted to anything (Nothing in the ro…

Hi everyone, I've updated my pcDuino via: Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get upgrade I can reach 8.8.8.8 from the terminal and google.com from the Chromium browser. However, I cannot reach any other website. I am guessing it has to do with the latest TLS requirements. TLS 2.0 is required for 99% of global websites. I'm presuming my pcDuino is on an older version for TLS 1.0/1/1 Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated Thanks

I am new to arm devices. I'm trying to build a fully working armbian system for the pcduino8-uno which uses the Allwinner a83t/h8 soc. I know these are not the best, but I got it from amazon for $18 and it runs home assistant very well. I built a new u-boot which appears to initialize the hardware properly as it sees all the usb port as well as obtains an ip from my dhcp server. Using sun8i-a83t-allwinner-h8homlet-v2 as my starting point.. I built a new kernel from 6.1.0-rc6. Everything seems to work properly except the ethernet controller. I can use a usb ethernet dongle, but I would like to get the onboard working Dmesg shows " [ 1.59462…

hello dear All, first of all - i am very glad to be here in this great forum. i have heard that i can run Armbian on Orange Pi as well. And i have also heard some thing regading H6. hi there! im a beginner in the linux world, but to try to learn a bit more and to try to make something useful im currently lookin at a orange pi 4 board in hope to somehow turn it in a NAS/Emby server. i played a little with the Opi4 and it looks promising, the only problem is that it doesnt have sata ports. i can get an extension board to plug in a mPCIE device, and i was planning to use it to connect a PCIE-Sata device. since i still have to buy it, do you have any suggestion? i looked at the JMB585 and the ASM1166 expansion boards, they both have plenty of ports for what i need and the speed its more than amazing, but i would like to know if they are …

Hi, I ran into an issue when configuring ssh. As it seems, ssh listens only to the first interface that is enabled (it seems it is always eth0). Probably, if I set a listen to 192.168.x.x in the config file of the sshd (same as the IP set in the wlan0), and a different network on the ethernet, it would work, but as I won't be using ethernet I would rather disable it completly. I tried already ifdown, ifconfig down, ifconfig eth0 down && rmmod -f sunxi_gmac, and some others. I even tried removing nmtui just to check if that was causing the problem. all what that step does is removing the bond0 interface (something I would like to do too). I checke…

I have a raspi hat (rak2245) that has 2 versions: a pi-hat version that has a 40 pin-header on it for raspberry pi's , but also a smaller stamp edition. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. Now…

Hi evereyone, After doing some upgrades my Pi-hole Admin Page was not reachable anymore, while blocking still worked. 1. Problem The lighttpd service was not running because of the missing folder /var/log/lighttpd. So lighttpd crashes when trying to access /var/log/lighttpd/error.log and access.log. Reinstalling Pi-hole and lighttpd didnt solve the problem. So I first created the folder myself: sudo mkdir /var/log/lighttpd sudo chown -R www-data: www-data /var/log/lighttpd Then I reinstalled Pi-hole and lighttpd, now lighttpd was running. Unfortunatly now I ran into 403 - Forbidden when accessing…

Hello Unfortunately my OrangePi PC which I used for couple of years failed and I'm looking to buy the 64-bit SBC from Pine64. Funny thing about my OrangePi PC was that there was one and only one old Armbian image version (Armbian-20.05.4-Orangepipc-focal-5.4.45.img) which ran GUI successfully out of the many other Armbian and OrangePi images I tried which helped me run it as a desktop for using Libre office and others. Unfortunately 1GB RAM was too low for Gaming lol. Thanks to the Armbian community for that. Before buying, I presume the PineA64 LTS version has a 64bit Rambus if not - I don't understand how processing speed will be bett…

Hi Everyone, I have a clean install of armbian with vanilla gnome installed, it boots to the login screen and mouse seems fine but after a few seconds it stops responding and when you move it it does this weird rapid shake movement as if your moving the mouse like 2 pixels side to side 100 times a second, its hard to explain but the curser doesn't move. Has anyone come across anything like this before who can possibly offer some advice? Sorry if I haven't explai…

pine64 products have sloppy DC connectors. This connector simply detaches from the motherboard. I use in production pine64 pine64-lts pineH64 and rock64. As a result of switching on and off the dc connector, in each case it has peeled off and does not hold power. I've attached the DC connector with glue but that's not what the factory mount. The low price now goes sideways. workmanship worse than nonopi.

I'm trying to get OctoPrint to work on my Pine64 to control my Qidi i-mate(s) 3d printer. I've done a fresh install of Armbian on the Pine64 with no problems. I'm not sure where to go to troubleshoot the USB-ttl serial connection. I've tried enabling the UART's in the armbian-config with no luck on the connection. While I've used Linux for quite some time, I'm not familiar with this sort of thing and I'm not even sure where to start the troublshooting. I can easily provide additional logs. This is on an …

Dear all, I'm using Armbian_5.25_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.104_desktop. The default display resolution of 720p60 is working fine. When I change to full hd with 1080p60 it's working fine. Hello - I have attempted an install of Armbian Stetch on a Pinebook (non HD) with the latest image from https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/. I can power on the pinebook and can SSH in, and have successfully installed to the internal emmc, however the screen does not come on. This pinebook readily works with other OS images I've attempted. I suspect I'm just missing something somewhat obvious, but I can't find reference to this issue elsewhere - how do I enable access via the screen/keyboard on the device itself? Thanks!

I'm fairly new to Linux, so excuse me when I'm asking the obvious. I'm using ARMbian 5.25 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i on a Orange Pi Zero, RTL-SDR and DireWolf When I execute from prompt: rtl_fm -f 144.80M - | direwolf -c sdr.conf -r 24000 -D 1 - Everything starts up as it should. But as I'm planning to use a headless setup, some self sustaining feature after power failure or whatnot is necessary. I figured out how to configure a cronjob and it starts a shell script when the software is not running. In that shellscript I'm using: DWCMD="bash -c 'rtl_fm -f 144.80M - | direwolf -c s…

Has anyone tried to install PiVPN or EasyRSA on a Rock64? I tried this and had some issues where EasyRSA did not install. No errors were shown on the install or captured in the install log. Took me a while to figure out that EasyRSA was not installed. It even created .opvn files for clients... I finally figured out what happened. Did some research and found a suggestion to manually install some packages BEFORE installing PiVPN. That seems to work, so now I have a working VPN. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having an issue. I will also post on the PiVPN Github site to get their input. Thanks!

I would kindly like to ask you to enable the intermediate functional block, ifb, as a module in the default kernel config for the BPI-R1 CONFIG_IFB=m It should not hurt anyone as it is just a module. The ifb network device is quite useful when doing experiments with tc (trafficx control), and it is absolutely necessary when you want to affect incoming traffic (normal tc netem works only on outgoing packets) Thank you.

Hi everybody, In a project I'm working on, I've added two PCA9535 I/O expanders to use 32 additional inputs on my Nano Pi Neo. Hi everybody, bought 1 to 5 port multiplier card from Ali, it's based on JMB575 chip. Is there any posibility (PM firmware) to use JMB575 with USB 3.0 to SATA 3 adapter like hardkernels JMS578. Tried with latest hardkernel JMS578 bridge firmware v173.01.00.01 it recognized only first HDD. JMB575 Link for reference https://www.aliexpress.com/item/SATA-Expansion-Card-1-to-5-Port-SATA3-0-Controller-Card-Motherboard-SATA-Multiplier-Riser-Card/32899742104.html

I installed Armbian_21.05.1_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.222.img on HC2 and after this nextcloudpi with the actual curl script. Portsharing Port 80 and 443 in Fritz!box 7460 worked only for IPv4. An earlier installation of Armbian 14 months ago on the same machine worked under IPv4 and IPv6. It is a mystery for me. Could anyone help? http://ix.io/3nCZ Thanks
