Hi, I installed the Armbian OS on Rockchip 3399 platform, so far things seems to be working okay. I am looking on a project which required H.264 decode and color color conversion from NV12 - > BGRx. I am looking for a hardware acceleration module which I can use for the color conversion. it seems RGA seems to be a right choice for it. but I am not able to find /dev/rga device in Armbian OS. Can anyone tell me how to enable the RGA support ? It seems kernel config has is enabled but I am not sure what is missing. Any help is appreciated. thanks

Hello everyone! I'm trying to use a small SPI LED screen with my ROC-RK3328-CC. I've scoured all over this website as well as the internet for information on enabling SPI on my ROC-RK3328-CC (libre renegade), and I'm sorry to say after trying so many things, I still cannot get it enabled. I'm currently using this image: Armbian_19.11.7_Renegade_buster_current_5.4.8.img I've added the following 2 lines to /boot/armbienEnv.txt overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 and after reboot, nothing. nothing for dmesg|grep spi and no spidev devices in /dev I've also tried manually changing status to "okay" for fragment@1 a…

Hi there. I have some audio project on different SOM/SOC boards, now my task is to bring an i2s DAC on RK3399. I use external high-quality clock for i2s and need to make the Rockchip the masterclock slave. This is the case where I find no tail to pull yet, due to VERY cumbersome device tree, poorly documented and poorly explored. For instance, the CPU datasheet says that I2S_MCLK is output only, whilst I could find the opposite in the TRM. Moreover, the clock tree explained there, says that I can use CLKIN_I2S not only for i2s interfaces, but for spdif also! (Also there is explained some "bitclock slave mode", it's even implemented in the DAI driver,…

Hello, I'm attempting to port an unknown rk3399 board to Linux from Android with kernerl 4.4. I managed to extract the devicetree and it's slowly coming along with poking arround and mixing and matching and comparing devicetrees (it's not easy but I got time ;-) ) The board uses a tc358775 converter for the lvds display since the rk3399 doesn't have one built in. With patch from here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16747-orange-pi-4-kernel-510y-mipi-dsi-panel-sucessful/ it started to show some signs of life. The screen is lighting up seems to have activities but it's just showing bars. I'm not sure if it's a timing issues, but I used…

Hi, I am new with Rockchip. I use Raspberry Pi earlier. I try make Python(3.5) program from remote PyCharm using Kivy (Win7). My problem is somewhere in OpenGL ES extension. I can install OpenGL and OpenGL ES but Python/Kivy cant use that. I read from some topic that I need some other X server? Kivy just tell me that "Couldn't find matching GLX visual". I try to solve my problem many days, but can't find correct answer anywhere... Whit Raspberry I didn't have this problem. I just install OpenGL and all work then. I use Firefly AIO-3399J board, Xubuntu 16.04. Also have problem with dual LVDS but trying solve that whit Firefly…

hello. first i want to say thank you to every armbian supporter and the hole team. thanks for providing this nice project and your work. i did some work for adding an external sound card - the audioinjector pi stereo, which is based on a wm8731. i used the radxa rockpi4(b) board based on the rk3399. i choose this board because of pinout header is nearly the same as the one you find on raspberrys. so adding/ using raspberry Hats won´t be too hart in this case. this will also work with radxa kernel https://github.com/verplant23/kernel so there shouldn´t be any troubles porting it to armbian legacy. i´m not a coder and i don´t kno…

Hi, I asked earlier about getting armbian running on a particular RK3399 system-on-module, but I wanted to try a different angle now: is there an RK3399 SoM that currently runs armbian well? For example, this one claims to: http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/SOM-RK3399v2 . Has anybody here actually used that board with armbian? I'm more inclined to believe you guys than the people selling the board... George

Hi , I am unable to boot my RK3568 board and cannot get it into MaskROM mode for recovery. The boot process fails with a "Synchronous Abort" in U-Boot SPL during DDR initialization. The device gets stuck in a boot loop. It starts DDR training (`ddrconfig:0`) but fails with a Data Abort exception. Standard methods to enter MaskROM /Loader have not worked. I have attached the full serial log (Boot_log.txt). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Boot_log.txt

Hello Armbian community I just acquired a Raxda Rock 3A with a Raxda Wireless module A8 (RTL8852BE) card. The Ubuntu distribution from Raxda seems to work pretty well, but it's not very recent, which is why I wanted to try Armbian! The current version (Armbian 23.02 Jammy Kernel 6.1.y, Size: 579Mb, Release date: Feb 27, 2023) seems to work, but I have two questions: 1) No wifi, the card is not detected (probably a driver issue, it works with the official OS), if there are members who have solved this? 2) I haven't seen much information on setting up a boot from an nvme storage, have you tried this? Have a g…

Hello everyone, I was going to purchase Rock Pi 4 model B+ (with WiFi/BT and eMMC chip). I see that Rock Pi 4 family is supported by Armbian (https://www.armbian.com/rockpi4/), however, there is no mention of models A+ and B+. There are just A, B and C+. Could you please confirm/refute that Rock Pi 4 B+ is supported by Armbian and point me to the image for that model?

This is for those experiencing a similar issue on the Rock Pi 4B (possibly RK3399 in general) who don't have a fix yet. On Armbian Focal current for the Rock Pi 4B the sound from both HDMI and the audio jack stopped working and became undetectable to the system (Both Pulse-audio and ALSA couldn't detect anything except hdmi-sound and even then HDMI sound did not work). I fixed the issue by rolling back to the latest "current" kernel version in armbian-config (5.10.63-rockchip64). Now the system sound has gone back to normal.

Hi I've just downloaded Armbian_21.02.3_Rock64_buster_current_5.10.21.img.xz for my Rock64 and flashed the image to a microSD card using BalenaEtcher. Over the last couple of days I've been writing a menu based script that creates a shutdown script to spin down HDDs during the shutdown phase on Linux based SoC PC. The reason behind the script is to get around an apparent problem whereby HDDs are forcefully being shut off when SoC PCs power off. I have posted this problem myself on the Open Media Vault forums, I have come across it here on the Armbian forums, the ODROID forums and also the Stack Exchange forums. During my script development and test…

A month or two back, when I installed Armbian, I had to revert to an older kernel, 5.10.63-rockchip64, which has known vulnerabilities. I needed to be able to boot off of a USB 3 HDD, so I had to revert it and hold updates for the kernel/kernel headers. These are the commands I used to revert to the older kernel: sudo apt install linux-dtb-current-rockchip64=21.08.2 linux-image-current-rockchip64=21.08.2 sudo apt-mark hold linux-dtb-current-rockchip64 linux-image-current-rockchip64 Fast forward to today, where the issue with USB 3 has been apparently resolved in the latest kernel, I tried to unhold the kernel/kernel header updates, that seemed to work. …

I am struggling to make an external RTC work. "i2cdetect -y 7" reports that RTC at address 68 is alive. I have compiled Armbian buster with Linux 5.4.32-rockchip64 with additional option in RTC clock and enabled DS1307. Hi, I used to run a full docker environment using the Radxa Debian buster image upgraded to bullseye. Lately as the backport repo has been archived I decided to move onto Armbian as upgrading bullseye to bookworm did not boot (or seemed so...). After flashing the latest Rockpi4 image to the Rockpi4, I copied the docker configuration and files backups. I now have a akward behavior: - starting all the stacks (or containers) works fine, all seems ok - rebooting via sudo reboot provokes an endless reboot cycle which is only ended if I unplug the USB Zigbee coordinator key. Once the loop is stopped, the RockPi does not have any IPv4 address (only IPv…

Hello, From the subject of this topic it may sound like a very common and must-know question. But trust me I am struggling to add my custom prebuilt apk in to the Android 10 AOSP to include it in my custom ROM. What I have tried so far; 1. I have added a directory of my_app_name in <aosp_dir>/packages/apps/. Added an Android.mk file with below content in it, Placed my apk with that Android.mk in same directory. This did not work, I am not able to find any my_app_name.apk in out/targte/product directories. LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) LOCAL_MODULE := my_app_name LOCAL_MODULE_CLASS := APPS LOCAL_MODULE_TAGS := o…

Hello, I have a RockPro64 running Armbian buster version 20.02.1 (Linux kernel 5.4.26-rockchip64) I have connected an M.2 SSD via an adapter in the PCIe slot, and have setup an LVM PV on it, with a number logical ext4 and btrfs volumes on it. All this worked fine when I set it up, but when I went to reboot the system, it never came back. On the serial console, I got a series of message from the firmware and U-Boot, then "Starting kernel ..." and nothing. (I waited about half an hour) I have increased the boot verbosity, by increasing the value in /boot/armbianEnv.txt from 1 to 7. If the boot is successful, I see lots of output after a delay of about a…

In Alsamixer its missing the master volume. In older legacy images it was there and driver seemed to be a tinker rockchip driver? Any idea how to enable the master volume slider? If I increase volume in USB sound card (headphones) then no sound comes out at HDMI and only way to restore is to purge deb of pulseaudio and alsa and re-install. There are some errors also the moment i log into cli if I do above. If reproduced ill post here (update). Similar error posted on another topic/board If i test `aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav` its ok. After any change to alsamixer nothing comes out The errors that started after ch…

Hi all. I have a Rockpro64 with u-boot flashed to SPI, and Armbian installed to NVMe drive*. When I use the HDMI port on the Rock to a standard HDMI port on a monitor, everything displays without issue. But recently I tried connecting to a Viewsonic va1655 using the HDMI to mini-HDMI cable, and the monitor displays fine while U-boot is doing its thing. But right before Armbian loads, the Viewsonic monitor flashes yellowish orange and then completely loses the signal. Buuut if I unplug the VS monitor and plug in the other HDMI monitor to the rock, the image is restored and Mr. Tux is patiently waiting for me to enter my password. *I'm not sure if this matters, but I u…

Hey guys... Having a strange issue since a couple of days. We got a couple of new board (10) and all of them are using an eMMC of 64GB. For an unknown reason, some of them are unable to survive after the first update and reboot using the latest armbian 21.08! Either, it's not booting from SPI OR at some point we see strange thing as segfault when trying some program! We try to replace the eMMC but the same eMMC works perfectly in another rockpro64! I also try to install first the old image with kernel 4.4 and it will survive all the time until we upgrade to 5.10 and then it refuse to boot from SPI! EDIT: Did another…

Hi all, I enjoy Armbian overall and appreciate the support that goes into its upkeep. I previously used the ayufan images but found that those were updated less frequently than I desired and I've wanted to run OpenMediaVault 5.x + and Python3.x+ which have major issues with the Debian 9/Stretch and Kernel 4.x and run better on kernel 5.x and newer. After reinstalling Armbian on a new SD card and porting my old system over from that image, everything generally works well, however there have been some slow-downs. I have the NAS-style enclosure case and two 6 TB 3.5" HDDs. I have checked the thermals and the system runs at a around 60 - 68 degrees C. …

Hi, we are trying to get the MIPI-CSI interfaces work on our RockPro64 with this being the current status: https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/issues/3360#issuecomment-1029773735 Here's the question: has anyone been able to get this to work with kernel 5.X yet, and if so how? I'm pretty familiar with kernel experiments, but research on a working example aside of some old Android stuff gives actually nothing... Best Clemens

Hi all, I'd love to run my sas2008 card on armbian. Im currentky testing the ayufan 0.10.12 build and it is working with my sas cards flawlessly even with sas expanders and 16x hdd attached. https://github.com/ayufan-rock64/linux-build/releases On armbian or any other release for that matter there is insufficient boot wait time for to card, i believe these cards take around 400ms to boot with bios rom deleted. The patch provides 1 second wait time. Hello! First of all. Sry if this was already menationed ins some thread. I tried to find the solution here I am using a ROCKPI E. I switchted my OS from Ubutnu to ARMBIAN 23.8 Bookworm. I am trying to get the RS485 Waveshare CAN hat to communicate with the LePotato. I have Klipper and Mainsail installed which for most would be a good stopping point. I am using CANBUS on all of my printer builds and that requires a CAN hat. I am trying to get this working with this board as i can actually buy these boards. I have a few CAN hats working with Raspberry Pis so i know the original process. Does anyone have a good way to get this all working together? Even a point in the right direction would be a help. I did find a post that claimed to be able to do this but actually trying it as posted resulted with no know vendor as an error.

First of All... Great job on this Distro very much appreciated. Thanks. I have a goal of running a real-time kernel on a H3 (NanoPi Neo preferably and or M1). Ultimate goal is to be able to run MachineKit on one of these (headless on Neo). MachineKit requires a real-time kernel with RT_PREEMPT being the preferred choice it seems. There are patches available for the kernel for 4.6 and 4.8. so we look to tracking close to the mainline with 4.7.6 considering 4.8 released on Oct 2nd. I tried patching the Armbian Kernel and not unexpectedly I got a number of conflicts with previous patches and some rejects. I am looking for some guidance here as to the best way t…

Hello all. I'm obviously a newbie to this all and have a Libre Le Potato I just purchased. Put in Armbian Bullseye and got everything configured so my Python script runs on boot and writes the data it records by sending a byte string through the USB port to a device and records the parsed response. All is well there, but I needed to add an RTC to this and I have many DS3231 boards that I've integrated with Arduino boards recently and they all work well. I've soldered the connections to the 3.3V, GND, SDA, and SCK pins and matched those to the GPIO pins 1, 9, 3, and 5 respectively. I've gone into 'armbian-config' and enabled…

For any one interested in software defined radio the OrangePi.pc and Armbian 5.05 software is a killer combination. The extra horsepower of the Allwinner H3 quad core and the clean Armbian Linux implementation give you a great platform for Software defined Radio. The $10 low cost RTL2838 dongle has an enormous amount to offer. But plugging it into a big computer laptop is not always practical It is often better to put the RTL2838 dongle as close to the antenna as possible. This could mean a long USB cable and voltage drop issues. So now you can buy a $9.99 Orange Pi.one and use it as a RTL to ethernet/ opt.wifi extender. You "just" Plug the RTL2838…

Hello guys, I have a NOVAsom M7+ board with a RTL8723bs module with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth integrated. The Wi-Fi works normally and without problems, however the Bluetooth isn't detected at all. When I try to open the Bluetooth Manager app gives me this error: "Connection to BlueZ failed. BlueZ daemon is not running. blueman-manager cannot continue. This probably means that there were no Bluetooth adapters detected or Bluetooth daemon was not started". I already searched the internet and found some people with problems related to this module and Bluetooth, does anyone know how to solve this? Best regards

Hi, I'm trying to use orange Pi PC+ as router with AWUS036ACS rtl8811au wireless card. I did benchmarks on PC with ubuntu 16.04 and driver from github (8812au version 4.3.20-beta). Hello, More of an FYI for anyone else hitting the same issue. Instead there's a new driver git clone https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8814au.git apt install build-essential linux-headers-current-rockchip64 ARCH=arm64 make dkms_install modprobe 8814au Now wifi works again

I'm trying to run the following on edge devices, the remote interface to which does not support a traditional terminal (i.e. no interactivity): armbian-config --cmd ROO001 At the conclusion of this command running, the user is prompted through the UI/TUI to reboot the device. How can I avoid this reboot prompt, and just proceed with the reboot immediately? e.g. the Raspberry Pi OS raspi-config tool allows for the nonint parameter to be passed: raspi-config nonint enable_overlayfs The intent is to automate enabling of the read-only fs. Hardware is various Raspberry Pi and ROCK Pi devices running Armbian. I've already conf…

Hi! I installed libhybris on my armbian 19.11.5 (kernel 5.5.0) to use mali user space drivers from android. After done, I have verified that my system can not run armhf, so not calling libhybris libEGL.so. I already ran apt --add-architecture armhf; update; install libc6:armhf, but still can not run 32-bit armhf, why?

Hi, Can I use this guide to run armbian on a SSD on a tinkerboard and then install Homeassistant? Until now I run hass.io. I'm trying to run it on an SSD to prevent SD card corruption again. Since HA will run on a docker, could I just run docker from SSD and keep armbian on sdcard? Which option would you think is better? Thank you

Hey the first time i tried armbian on tronsmart android box with sdcard , it was so seamless and so awesome. I am wondering if anyone has tried armbian on any android tablet. And it would be nice to support any of these tablets out there. In that way you don't have to worry about separate hdmi tv or monitor and accessories to use armbian. I always believe that arm's edge is in mobility, sleek and being minimal .
