  1. In Alsamixer its missing the master volume. In older legacy images it was there and driver seemed to be a tinker rockchip driver? Any idea how to enable the master volume slider? If I increase volume in USB sound card (headphones) then no sound comes out at HDMI and only way to restore is to purge deb of pulseaudio and alsa and re-install. There are some errors also the moment i log into cli if I do above. If reproduced ill post here (update). Similar error posted on another topic/board If i test `aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav` its ok. After any change to alsamixer nothing comes out The errors that started after ch…

I have an Odroid-C1+ running some version of Armbian (I forget the details, exactly) - it's been happily working for a while, but recently that board went dead. I finally got a serial console on it, and captured the output below. Pretty clearly, something is wrong, and it being a cheap flash card, I bet the card itself is going bad. My real question: does anyone have a good suggestion how I can recover anything there is to recover from the SD card before setting up a new one? It's been long enough since I set up this device that I'd prefer not to start from scratch if I can avoid it. I'm not much of a Linux guy (usually NetBSD/MacOS), but I do have a U…

Now I have 2 OPi5 with the Armbian MOTD and whatever unseen setup that occurs behind the scenes and a third one where I manually configured locales and tzdata. Is there a way to re-run that first login script manually? Thanks

If so could anyone give me an example of how to do that...I have tried to understand the dts files but failed.

  14. I had a hard time to figure out how to set the input pull-up on GPIO 1 of the NanoPi neo2. In the end it appeared to be extremely simple, but in order to help other beginners I like to share how I accomplished it. 1) I created a dts file with the input pull-up definition for GPIO 1 2) I compiled the dts with the "armbian-add-overlay" tool 3) rebooted the NanoPi Neo2 That's it. The dts file can be placed anywhere on the Nanopi Neo2 eg. /home/pi/sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2-pullup.dts nano /home/pi/sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2-pullup.dts The content of sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2-pullup.dts looks like this: /dts-v1/; …

So using the old sysfs (/sys/class/gpio/) interface, you "export" a gpio by spitting the gpio number into /sys/class/gpio/export. The GPIO number depends on the board and relevant documentation. Having once found that I need GPIO number 76, I'm migrating code to the new "gpio character device" interface (/dev/gpiochipn) on my Rock64. However, "gpioinfo" shows that hardly any gpios have useful labels, and Google searches always turn up Raspberry Pi results. So, can I just calculate the new gpio identify? Old gpio is 76, all /dev/gpiochips have 32 lines, 76/32 = 2 rem 12, so old gpio 76 is now /dev/gpiochip2 line 12? Edit: I tried this…

Just running basic ... apt-get update && apt-get upgrade ... upon initial install, and it fails with "failed to fetch" (404) from whatever apt.armbian.com mirror it selects (of 2 or 3 observed). Held it back with apt-mark, removed it, and built from source using deb-src. Doesn't seem to be any problems or issues running htop built from deb-src, so, not sure why its needed in the Armbian source repositories ???

Hey, I basically need the LXC Kernel modul for the lxccu homematic software. Is this already included in the newer kernel drivers for the available debian or do I need armbian? I'm not 100% sure what the differences for armbian and debian are? Could someone explain that to me? thx! Cheers Btw: Is the Allwinner R8(m) also supported? I'm just starting to build up the community for the $9 computer CHIP which uses this processor. Would be great to have some more ways in building kernels. I really need to config my own kernel there to included touch screen drivers. Is this possible with the armbian too?

  22. ## Description After a fresh installation of Armbian for Rockchip64 (Rock 3A), the system ships with `linux-image-current-rockchip64` version **26.2.1** (kernel 6.18.8), but the corresponding `linux-headers-current-rockchip64` package for version 26.2.1 is **not available** in the public APT repositories. Is there a faster interface for working with GPIO on the H3, similar to the fast GPIO on the RPi. I believe fast GPIO on the RPi manipulates GPIO though a memory map interface. Is that possible with the H3. Has anyone done it?

The system clock is set to some early date (2016-xx-yy). Therefore the unmount is in the future causing an fsck. It fails miserably and drops to initramfs (where i really am lost). Trying to download armbian for rockpi-4a, following the link https://redirect.armbian.com/rockpi-4a/ on https://www.armbian.com/rock-pi-4/ In one case, this resolves to https://mirrors.netix.net/armbian/dl/rockpi-4a/, which shows an empty directory except for an archive subdirectory that is empty too. clicking around through the armbian/dl folder, this seems to be only empty directories for any board. In another case, the redirect resolves to https://minio.k-space.ee/armbian which just returns XML gibberish.

In the past I was able to mitigate this issue by patching file \linux-mainline\linux-4.14.y\arch\arm\boot\dts\sun7i-a20-bananapi.dts and replacing "cd-gpios...." line with "broken-cd;" . This fix does not work anymore with current stable image (kernel linux-5.15.y). Does anyone know how else to solve it? Does u-boot (Bananapi-defconfig) need to be modified as well?

The /sbin/armbian-install script that ships in Armbian_22.08.7_Odroidn2_bullseye_current_5.19.17_minimal.img.xz has a couple of faulty lsblk arguments that cause it to exit instead of allowing the user to select the installation target partition. 59. Hello, I installed armbian on my board and decided to attach HDD to move rootfs on it. So I used script which you provide nand-sata-install. It worked as expected but not sure why it kept /boot still on SDcard? I do understand that uboot needs to be still on SDcard present, but uboot should be able to find /boot directory also on HDD partition, right? Or is there some compatibility issue, why this approach was decided? My concerns are if sdcard dies, i need to recreate not only uboot but also /boot. JV

Has anyone found a usefull utility ? Or should I just use dd to dump the eMMC partions to image files on a USB attached drive and rsync to backup the NVMe the the same ? I'd imagine to restore just boot from an install image, don't install, just dd the images to their repective eMMC partitions and rysnc to restore. Not sure exactly where to post this, or how to ask it, but here goes... In the 'olden days' of my Linux adventures, compiling one's own kernel was standard practice. Thankfully, now many years later, I have become content with the 'standard' kernels (e.g. Debian) that are available to me on my x86 computers. Now, enter the world of ARM-based computing, and the possible return of self-compiled kernels. In my specific case, I am interested in using Pi-like devices to run a GPS-based time server with the additional accuracy of PPS. From my understanding, there are two optional-but-useful changes that would be required to maximal accuracy: - turnin…

OK, so I'm doing a massive hardware clearout, and I've getting to my OPI's. Part of this hardware clearout is to finish the project I started (if feasible and still useful). I have loads of approx. Intel DC 3000 series SATA drives around 80-200 GB, and I thought these would be perfect "user data" SSD's for each of the SSD's. The goal is to implement a "fast as possible" SWD debug interface to a Cortex M0; ideally the serial interface could be run arbitrarily fast until the target M0 or the wiring can't handle it. If can do 48mhz I can basically read/write one 32-bit word per microsecond over swd, so 4MB/sec, and I want to process that a little and send it to a PC (obviously ethernet). I especially care about consistent, gap-free, no jitter on this serial interface. So SPI is the obvious choice but I'm…
