I don't know how to explain this, so I start with my hardware: Two Odroid HC1. I love swapping Kernels, default was 5.4.199 but that was "too old" because I like it bleeding edge. Did upgrade both to 5.17.5 and it works like a charm! Really good performance and some errors from dmesg disappeared too! However the problems did not wait for long: Kernel 5.19.x broke fstrim commands on my SATA drives so I rolled back, everything was good on 5.17.5 again. My logs showed TRIM was supported and running again, cheers! Now to the actual problem at hand and this might be my own doing. I froze the upgrades in armbian-config. Thinking this would prevent upgrading to the n…

  6. Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to put a mainline uboot with ethernet, usb support and lunch the old legacy kernel with it? I need it to be able to boot remotely (tftp) or from usb to make backup, restore without remove sdcard or lunch a recovery mode remotely by lora and a little uC speaking on uart of OPI. With mainline uboot it's easy to lunch openwrt on a ramdisk without mounting sdcard. If i can do the same (mainline uboot) with legacy kernel, i m happy. Thanks

The armbian is fully updated Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.36 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.16-sunxi I'm running an nginx php stack on the BaPi. But what about stretch ? Can I do a dist-upgrade ? Sorry if this has already been discussed. Thanks in advance for replies :-)

The problem is that along with my OPi PC I use a cheap wireless adapter based on the MT7601. I was able to write TOC0 to SPL with the jemk script and put the SPL to my SD card and it is booting! But... The Bootprocess hangs after "Found device /dev/ttyS0" (i am using a dietpi image). I was using sunxi-spl.bin from git://git.denx.de/u-boot.git after checking out the same version of u-boot as in my dietpi image (2020.10) and compiling it leaving default configs in menuconfig. do I need to enable more features during u-boot compilation? Hi, i have installed the latest Armbian 23.5 Jammy on my opi+2e and since then, only the top left of the screen is showing text, like if the screen is divided in 4 and only the upper left is showing login screen and text. If I try to install a desktop environment, everything goes full screen, but I see the mouse cursor of login screen overlapped to desktop, so i have two mouse cursors: one fixed and the other that can be moved. WTF is going on? Why don't you test the images before you publish?

Trying to clear boot sequence from errors while building mainline version with following parameters: I found error sunxi-nmi: unable to map resource. After investigation, I found: 1) there is no nmi controller on A64, according to last version of Allwinner A64 manual; 2) nmi is added into DT by patch add-A64-nmi_intc. patch. I created a user patch reversing this patch, but it could be better if this patch is removed from A64 as it is usefull only on other chip. Question: is my opinion on this topic ok? Who is in charge to solve this conflict between me and the guy who added this patch? Mike

Software works on another board that use same memory and mtest always succeeds on faulty board even with complementary patterns. I have got the feedback that this new memory belongs to the newest revision level so SDRAM parameters needs to be updated. However I am using the 4.14 kernel so .fex configuration is not taken into consideration by the kernel, although initialize the SDRAM controller is bootloader->SPL's duty. Not posting everything I've tried, just wanted to ask a question of people experienced with the H3. Does it really support slave I2S in the mainline kernel? I've seen it posted in multiple forums that it does, and the datasheet and user manual says it does, but I can not get it working. Has anyone seen this work in person? I had to hack up the sun4i-i2s.c driver around mclk / bclk generation to make it happy just to even try it, and confirmed that all register settings look good. But the DMA just doesn't seem to transfer data when in clock slave mode. It doesn't seem like any cpu using sun4i-i2s should work in clock slave mode.

  52. Hello. I saw all topics about armbian on Q8, Q88 tablets, but some of them are dead with no success, some say, that it is working somehow for someone. I understand, that armbian more tended to be for boards, but come on! There is a huge pile of tablets, that uses same processors, memory, wifi and other chips, and there is a sun5i-a13-q8-tablet.dtb in /boot/dtb of an image of armbian. So, I compiled custom Armbian image using olinuxinoA13 configuration as there wasn't any for q8-tablet. Wrote or burned it with USB Image Writer (I'm on Linux Mint 19 Cinamon) on SD card, mounted it, edited ArmbianEnv.txt line disp_mode=800x480p60. Put SD in tablet, pushed on button... s…

I thought if I cloned the repo I could modify a similar board configuration file (such as rock-3a.conf) by renaming a copy as radxa-cm3.conf and changing BOOT_FDT_FILE to use my own device tree, but this is where I got lost. I'm not sure where to put the device tree in the cloned repo so that it gets used during the build process. ls /sys/class/udc > UDC ls:write error: Device or resource busy I'm trying to get an armbian device (banana pi m2 zero and/or the orange pi zero LTS) to function as a USB client, but I can't seem to get the above step working. Any suggestions? lsof UDC returns nothing. On the RaspberryPI 4 this worked without issue

I have been using my OPi 5 for several months with Armbian on my NVMe ssd. I decided to shift my SSDs around, and removed the one that was in my OPi5 and put in a new one. I burned the latest Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Cinnamon dated Aug 31, 2023 using BalenaEtcher onto an SD card, put it in the OPi5, and it booted fine. I did apt update and upgrade, no problems. I ran nand-sata-install hoping to transfer the system to the ssd and it failed. My memory is fuzzy due to panic setting in, but I tried the Jameschambers process to copy the system over, and then tried to boot off the ssd card, and it failed. When I tried armbian-config it failed to update the MTD and reported no s…

  91. I have an old oDroid M1 that used to have Ubuntu 20 LTS installed on, but after it bricked itself during the install of Ubuntu 22 LTS, I decided to go looking for an alternative OS (it was also really sluggish). I got pointed to Armbian, and since it officially supports the M1, I gave it a go. Unfortunately, the instructions leave much to be desired. This part just doesn't seem to actually work: > Once booted, use armbian-install to write u-boot to MTD (SPI flash). This completely and irrevocably removes Petitboot, replacing it with mainline u-boot. All of the options that appear to be what it means by "write u-boot to MTD (SPI Flash…

I'm looking for the ability to extract coarse motion estimation from the h.264 encoder. These vectors are calculated as part of the compression algorthm and should be done on the hardware in real time - just a matter of extracting them. This extraction is done on the Raspberry Pi with "raspivid -x output". It is also exposed in picamera. Does anyone know if there is a similar capability to extract the motion vectors? If not, how one might go about doing this in python/c++? thanks, philip

Hi! I'm having trouble with one (only one) of the alsamixer settings. 'MIC1 boost AMP gain control' shoots up to 71 every time I launch a program that uses sound, such as alsaloop or arecord. I've done 'sudo alsactl store', so I can get it back to zero by doing 'sudo alsactl restore'. Obviously that's not something I want to do all the time. I don't have any problems with any other settings. The setting in question completely ruins sound quality for my purposes, so I need it to stay at zero. I'm currently running 5.35 user-built Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i. I've tried Debian Jessie as well.

Hi, I am running OrangePI lite with 5.65 Xenial. I followed tutorial on using overlayroot here "How to freeze your filesystem". However, when I run overlayroot-chroot to make changes, I am getting the following error when I modify files: "Read-only file system". Here is output of 'mount': /dev/mmcblk0p1 on / type ext4 (ro,relatime) proc on /proc type proc (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime) tmpfs on /run type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,size=50696k,mode=755) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime) I tried running mount to make it read-write: mount -o remount,rw /dev/mmcblk0p1 #make changes, revert back mount -o remount,ro /dev/mmcb…
