  6. I know that the RaspberryPi cannot use netconsole due to the ethernet connector being driven over the USB bus, and thus not suporting polling (which is needed for netconsole). When i look at my LePotato kernel (4.14.57), I see: # CONFIG_NETCONSOLE is not set # CONFIG_NETPOLL is not set # CONFIG_NET_POLL_CONTROLLER is not set So it is clear netconsole won't work as is. Before I go through the process of building the kernel to enable these, I thought I'd check if I am wasting my time. Is it expected that polling will work? 'Upstream' the idea to ship OS images with Firefox/Iceweasel has been dropped in the meantime due to horribly low performance in favour of chromium-browser. As far as I understood that's partially related to firefox acting single threaded (while Chromium uses all CPU cores). Here's longsleep's latest config and the mostly accepted 'fix' for Chromium complaining about running insecure due to missing sandboxing is disabling exactly this. (that's Hardkernel's method to 'fix' Chromium on ODROID-C2). Users will be happy with a fast(er) browser not throwing annoying error messages at them they click away without reading them anyway and surfing the web on Pinebook wi…

I also tried almost everything, nothing fixed the issue until I rolled back my kernel from Dev (4.14.0-rc1) to Next (4.13.2) then all the problems were gone. I also noticed on the 4.14.0-rc1 kernel booting and shutdown times were much longer... at least double of whats normal, this was true w…

So, I am working on a Clearfog Pro here, having compiled a 4.14.17 kernel and built a Debian Buster image on the m2 ssd via debootstrap. After spending some time digging through menuconfig, and not finding the appropriate option, I hunted a little, and found that sfp.c, sfp-bus.c, and phylink.c are all in the kernel code, but no manner of configuration can access them. I have dug up a couple of patchsets which seem necessary, but the dts patches (2nd link, january 2nd-7th, 2017 patches, near the bottom of the page) at least seem not to be merged into the mainline tree. 39. Just started with creating custom images for an Orange Pi R1+ LTS board. In my build I'd like to compile some custom C++ applications using CMake, then install them onto the root file system to run on the board. Couldn't find much on this on the docs, though maybe I haven't looked hard enough! A couple of questions: I noticed the customize-image.sh script in the build repository - would amending this script be the intended method for this kind of functionality or is there another, better way? How would I provide CMake the relevant info to compile correctly for the board. Thanks in advance.

Some armbian users use the soft real-time features for either real-time audio (jackd), or control (eg. klipper_host_mcu), However, real-time group scheduling, enabled by this options complicates the user space configuration required to acquire real-time scheduling in applications and daemons. Setting ulimit -r or LimitRTPRIO= is no longer enough, it is also required to allocate CPU time for RT task. 44. Dear Armbian ARM64 6.6.x kernel people: Orange Pi 5 delivers incorrect larger SCTP chunks to SCTP. from lower IP stack in kernel. This can be seen from the computed CRC-32 checksum below. The packet length is right. This CRC-32 checksum process works correctly on OpenSuSE x86_64 Tumbleweed with kernel 6.5.4-1. It also works correctly on Armbian ARM64 5.10.110. Hence we believe the IP code is faulty in the 6.6.x kernel "stable rolling release" from Armbian. This SCTP driver is used in Telecom by companies like Nokia and Ericsson instead of Linux kernel SCTP and we would like to get it working on the OrangePi 5. Shorter packets like the SCT…

And not just the maker of the boards.

I created a Wheezy and Jessie image. Whenever I try extracting the Jessie image, I get a CRC error. I am using 7zip. I tried extracting the zip also using Windows Explorer (Win10) and it also runs into an error. It seems like there might be an issue with the Jessie images being created. I cleaned my output folder and created a new clean image and still run into the same problem. This is using the latest libs and creating a 4.2.3 image (the default settings in the lib config). FYI, the Wheezy image extracts without any problems. Any ideas why the Jessie image is corrupt? Thanks.

Hello, before even thinking about arranging a CSC board bring up pull request to armbian, I would be pleased to know if it sensible to do that for a TV Box which is not sold anymore but still quite powerful because of its rk3288 SoC. I made my own fork of armbian (see here). I tried to do things the most tidy way, following the best practices learnt from the documentation. The box has very good support now, but requires some initial setup to clean the eMMC. Also I made some customizations to kernel configs which, I guess, should be moved away (mali driver compiled by default, devfreq support, brcmfmac driver for AP6330 wifi, maybe other things...) …

I was able to play with GPIO this way on Cubian nicely but since Cubian is more or less dead without much support I moved to Armbian. I am able to export only pins with adress 1 or 2 as these are in the script.bin. I quite suspect that I need to change script.fex from GIT, convert to script.bin and replace original one on my Cubieboard. Am I correct? And next thing is that …

Hi, I found problem below today. I have stability problems with services running on BananaPro and therefore this is second problem after "kswapd was killing some tasks" I decided revert back to older kernel 3.4.109. I am only letting you know... Division by zero in kernel. 93. Hi there, I am trying to build the image using docker, but I get several "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error messages and as result the build gets interrupted. Would like to stick to docker build (I am running of fedora 39, and it automatically selects docker), as it looks to be far more efficient rather than running it into a VM. Any idea on how could I get rid of this issue? Thanks is advance! Andrea

  94. Hello all, I wrote up this documentation mostly as notes to myself about how I successfully built a kernel and ubuntu core rootfs. If you could let me know how to improve it, please let me know. I don't generally write documentation. I focused on the roc-rk3328-cc but it should work okay for a variety of the Firefly chips. Thanks, ~Ben barebone_to_ubunutu.md

  95. Hello, I recently learned to generate Armbian images using Docker, and I found the official documentation incomplete on this. I ended up asking in the forums, so I have compiled the info in this little blog post for other's reference https://ownyourbits.com/2017/11/30/building-armbian-images-faster-using-docker/ If there's any suggestions or improvements, please let me know. Also, if you want, I can send a PR to your documentation to clarify how to build using docker. Cheers, Nachoparker

Does Armbian Kernel support aufs? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aufs I was wondering if FatDog a Arm version of Puppy Linux could be built by someone using Armbian as the base. I started a thread conversation on Puppy Linux forum. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=902082#902082

Hi all, I'm using an online article to help get me started with DotNet core this one Article All works fine when I use a Raspberry Pi as my target host but on my Nanopi the executable file created by dotnet publish -t linux-arm is not found, in the article the author creates a console app from a Windows command line and then publishes it. He then copies all the files from the Windows *publish* folder to a Pi and the executable created by Windows runs on the Pi. If I do the same on my Nanopi I get a file not found error - racking my brains with this one as the file is definitely there. I can create apps directly on the Nano cli but it would be …

    Hi All, as I understand, new kernel does not support script.bin any more and uses something called Device Tree Blob. In source (DTS) file of this hell are two sections concerning LEDs: pinctrl at 01c20800 { led_pins_lamobo: led_pins at 0 { allwinner,pins = "PH2"; allwinner,function = "gpio_out"; allwinner,drive = <1>; allwinner,pull = <0>; } and this one: leds { compatible = "gpio-leds"; pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&led_pins_lamobo>; green { label = "lamobo:green:usr"; gpios = <&pio 7 24 0>; default-state = "on"; }; }; Is here somebody, who und…

Hi TKaiser / Igor, FYI i manually prepared a patch for devices that use rtl2832u that i think may interest you to add this patch to the build process. You can patch against legacy kernel 3.4.111 and give users a chance to get their device recognized. Sorry, i can't couple with the automated armbian process yet, i usually do the things manually. I hope this can be useful (and hopefully works for someone). clone here: https://github.com/avafinger/rtl2832 @lex

For who is interested in the dwmac-sun8i driver for Ethernet on the Orange Pi H3 family. It is an alternative driver for sun8i_emac driver. I have good results with it. No multicast problems and 24x7 uptime ( no RX errors). The maintainer Coretin mailed me today about an update. Tommorrow version v6 will be updated.
