Hi, could anyone provide a kernel (e.g. 4.3.3) with the patch for CVE-2016-0728? Or can anyone tell me how to patch and build the kernel - i only know the official way via "git an ./compile" described here in the manuals. The patch can be found here: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=23567fd052a9abb6d67fe8e7a9ccdd9800a540f2 Regards, A.

I've got your build environment working and tested my own build for a couple of supported boards. It was successful. Hello, I'm building a device driver which controls gpio pins. When I developed one in the kernel 3.x, I could get the proper gpio pin number from script.fex(converted from script.bin in /boot/bin/ folder) For example, if the pin I'm using is PB03, I was able to use 3 to control that pin in device driver program. gpio_pin_1 = port:PH10<1><default><default><0> gpio_pin_2 = port:PH20<1><default><default><0> gpio_pin_3 = port:PB03<0><default><default><default> However, from kernel 4.x, script.bin file is not used anymore. Instead of this, there is a dtb file, but I have no idea where I can…

  8. Dear Community, Everytime I build a new Armbian OS, it comes with "configng" which dosent support the Feature to enable I2C, SPI & UART, the category "Hardware" isnt available in my build. How can I add the armbian-config to my automated build-system which adds the armbian-config with support of enabling this? I add a picture of the armbian-config, which comes with the currently build. At "system" is an entry with "armv7l" , but I build the OS for sunxi8. What I need to do, to support the Hardware entry in my armbian-config?

the main proposal of this research is to enable cached apt archives for docker build. first apt cache can be saved by a docker volume, but due to `${SDCARD}/var/cache/apt/archives` is not a constant, then we can't use `-v=apt-cache:${SDCARD}/var/cache/apt/archives` to enable it. so I use `-v=apt-cache:/root/.apt` as a tmp place for apt cache, when need `apt install` in `${SDCARD}`, use `mount -o bind /root/.apt ${SDCARD}/var/cache/apt/archives` and after install finishes, `umount ${SDCARD}/var/cache/apt/archives` this looks perfect, but after I check /root/.apt, everything is gone. I double checked whether *.deb are saved to…

Igor, to add some applications ( for example, https://github.com/Freescale/gstreamer-imx), it would be nice to have the possibility, to enter at some point into the chroot, and compiling software, and installing it. Or, add a "just mount exisiting image" function to your scripts. For example, base image is finished, and then I can use a function, that unpack, mount, the existing image, and allow "the costumer" to enter into chroot. What do you think? Peter

Armbian is written to a µSD card as a small file (a gig or two if I recall). If the card is 64gigs, the image is still just a few gigs written to that card. When booted on the device, though, it automatically expands the file system to the full size of the card. How exactly does it do that? And... How do I do the reverse? Take the file system from a working armbian install and create a small image that when written to a µSD card, will stay small, but then auto-expand when booted on a device?

  49. Hello everyone, I have a screen of 1280x800 resolution. while connecting the screen to my rockpi-4b, the resolution is set to 1024x768, and there is no 1280x800 option in the display setting panel. after learning from Internet for days, I think the root is that my screen doesn't have a correct EDID information. so I made some changes to let the kernel ignores the screen's edid information and use specified edid file. The resolution is successfully set to 1280x800, the only problem is that the screen display is shaking, as the attached video shows. The edid file's timing settings are shown as below: I tried to change the settings but it doesn't wo…

I'm a newbie to Armbian, just a hobby user, no company behind me. While building Armbian for my Banana Pi R1 (aka Lamobo R1) [Allwinner A20, sunxi] the build system gave the following warnings originating from the U-Boot project. I think some maintainers and/or experienced users should take a look at the following. ===================== WARNING ====================== This board does not use CONFIG_DM_MMC. Please update the board to use CONFIG_DM_MMC before the v2019.04 release. Failure to update by the deadline may result in board removal. See doc/driver-model/MIGRATION.txt for more info. ==================================================== …

When ./compile.sh command is used to compiling a new Armbian version (especially with some source changes for debugging), in case there was an error during compilation, it can be impossible to find real reason of the problem. Log files located in output/debug folder are not very informative - they just show the last message, which also appears on the screen - failed in script line number . The following command was used to get full log of the compilation process: command | tee -a log.txt Hope this will be useful for somebody else (newbie), who like me spent a lot of time trying to understand, why the compilation failed after some changes in kernel configuration.

I'm building an Ubuntu image and after it compiles the ARM objects it tries to download files from ports.ubuntu.com. For a reason I'm still trying to figure out, it's trying to get files from 127.0.0.1 (which is weird) but that's fixable. What I'd like to do is resume a build that had failed without recompiling all the ARM objects again. I'm using compile.sh. Thanks! Kriston

Happy new year everyone, I am working on a project where I want to control two brushed DC motors equipped with a magnetic encoder and driven by a H-bridge circuit. All this has to be done on a tiny arm board (with enough cpu power for other computations), and I decided to go for the NanoPi NEO Air. I compiled the actual mainline Kernel with realtime capability (turned PREEEMTIVE on in menuconfig, hope that's enough) and debian streched. One issue might be the tight and constraining timing when sampling the magnetic encoder, which generates two 1.6kHz (about 0.6ms) pulses for each motor. I guess it would be best to get an interrupt generated at each…

I went a step further, trying to use the userpatches/customize-image.sh script. Correct if i am wrong. It's possible to make a generic building process to add new drivers like the media_build does? Sorry for this novice question, I am sure I am missing this in the documentation somewhere... When creating Armbian images using the included build system, I notice that the kernel is downloaded each time I run a build. This of course takes a decent amount of time to pull via git. Is there a way to simply point the build system to a local cached folder that already contains kernel sources already downloaded? That would speed up my iterations significantly. Thanks!

May I hope to be able to use the kit by some workarounds or do I have to stick with the Raspberry in the meantime? 100. I have have armbian V25.2.3 installed on a radxa Zero 2w linux kernel 6.12.17-current-meson64. The radxa uses i2c to talk to a PCA9685 which in turn drives three servos in a robot. The issue is that the PCA9685 has two i2c busses, 0 and 1. But the radxa zero has only two i2c busses that can be enabled using armbian-config and they are i2c-3 and - ic2-5. It seems I need to install a new overlay to describe the i2c busses in the device tree. But how do I do that?
