  1. We have initial support for Pine64/Pine64+ for a long time in our repository but not released any official images yet. Since this will change soon a sneak preview what to expect. Hardware related issues: Please don't blame Armbian for the few design flaws Pine64 and Pine64+ show: These boards use Micro USB for DC-IN which is the worst possible decision. Most USB cables have a resistance way too high and are responsible for severe voltage drops when consumption increases, then the tiny Micro USB contacts have also a pretty high contact resistance and also maximum amperage for this connector is limited to 1.8A by USB specs. So in case you want …

  2. Before complaining about an issue read this! tl;dr: Put your Zero2 and/or any other H616 based device on the shelf and WAIT for proper support to come. And no. There is no ETA. Assuming usable state end 2021/beginning 2022. Software support is still work in progress and under heavy development. Provided preview images can break any time. Do not report this, we are aware of that and can/will not help you with that if you are not willing to investigate and research by yourself. Feel free to join fellow developers to their efforts to create proper software support. But don't waste our time with complains. Thank you! https://github.com…

  3. Hi, We are currently developing a low cost single board computer base on Allwinner A64 Processor. Please refer to the pine64.com and https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pine64/577817754?token=12cf383f for more detail on the board. Currently we requesting open source community to participate and help to bring up Linux BSP to Ubuntu. Please let us know if you are interested. Thanks and regards, KH Goh

  4. Hi! Now that the camera interface has been merged in mainline Kernel, I would like to try to use the OrangePi OV5640 camera module on my OrangePi One. So with the latest Armbian Bionic (20.02.1, kernel 5.4.20), I have been trying to get a device tree overlay. 5. Hi, I have a couple of these boards which I have been using with Armbian and the old, 3.10 kernel. Ideally I would really like to go mainline as later kernels have some functionality that would be useful for my use of the board. The only remaining reason (apart from cpu freq.) for sticking to the 3.10 kernel has been the lack of MIPI DSI support in mainline, but now I see that, despite the Matrix at http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort still being red for A64 mipi, some work is being/has been done by Maxime Ripard. I'm just wondering if anyone here knows if a working mainline kernel with DSI for the Pine 64 is starting to look like a p…

  6. Hello, I have a massive problem as the time/date on my Pine64 keep changing randomly to the year 2113. In my project, I use several Pine64s and the problem now occurs on many of these Pine64s. Unfortunately I need the correct time for my project. I am using the following system: ARMBIAN 5.32.170911 nightly Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4.13.0-sun50iw1 (with additional overlays = uart3 and console = ttyS3) Could this be due to the error described in the post and is the bug fixed in kernel version 4.14? Could I install this kernel version 4.14 via armbian-config (next-kernel)? Thanks a lot for help.

  7. From reading through the forums I cobbled together what I thought might work for getting spi nor to boot, but it fails: Activate the spi-jedec-nor overlay in /boot/armbianEnv.txt : overlays=spi-jedec-nor param_spinor_spi_bus=0 Then, after reboot, "cat /proc/mtd" should produce something like this : dev: size erasesize name mtd0: 00200000 00001000 "spi0.0" Here is where it fails - I just get the heading, with no mtd0: 00200000 00001000 "spi0.0". Should I be using a different param_spinor_spi_bus? I assume that once that works, the following will work? apt-get install mtd-utils cat /usr/lib/linux-u-boot-next-orangepiz…

  14. Hello, I have abandoned the Orangepizero2 I had bought months ago to use with Armbian, I have confused zero and zero 2. Seeing new release, I have just downloaded/install Armbian 22.05 Jammy. Install is ok, good work, thank you ! The wireless interface seems not enabled, I have looked at dmesg output and nmtui-connect. I could not find info about it, the board name doesn't help a lot. 16. As other people have noted, there are issues trying to connect the CB1 to wifi after the first boot. I believe I've narrowed down the cause, but I'm not sure about the right way to fix it permanently. The issue I was experiencing is as follows: 1. Flash latest armbian minimal to sd card 2. Plug into CB1 and turn it on 3. Go through first boot setup and connect to wifi normally 4. Reboot CB1 5. CB1 no longer connects to wifi, wpa_cli says 'CTRL_EVENT_SCAN_FAILED' A temporary solution I found is to mask systemd-networkd, then manually unmask systemd-networkd and start it after booting. This suggests that the problem is that systemd-net…

If you look at our download page of Pine64 you can see that since then we have collected a lot of information of which some of it maybe obsolete/outdated/resolved: https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ Now, if you are a lucky owner of such a SBC you have THE CHANCE to help the armbian project. Will you please download the latest Xenial legacy kernel 3.10.y and verifiy if some of the problems listed on the website are already solved in the current release? And if so, please re…

  48. Pine A64 · Started by Neko May,

I've tried searching the forums for info on the Pine H64 Model B, but all the information is rather outdated, so I have some questions: Is this board supported by the images on the Pine H64 page which show a Model A board? (There was mention they work but without ethernet support.) Has ethernet support been fixed in the Pine H64 images for Model B? Are nightly builds still disabled for these boards?

  50. I recently bought a couple of A64-LTS boards from the Pine Store, but I couldn't get the official Armbian images to boot on them. https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ I could, however, get Manjaro to boot on them, and when I created an SD card with U-Boot from the Manjaro SD card, and the partition from the Armbian (Bullseye CLI) image, it booted into Armbian. I noticed, though, that Manjaro distinguishes between the Pine A64(+) and the Pine A64-LTS. Tow-boot also makes the same distinction. So I wondered if maybe Armbian wasn't booting on my A64-LTS boards because it wasn't making that distinction, but it should be. (I also noticed that …

  54. Hi everybody, Since some time i have a problem with my OrangePi Zero2. Not sure about when it started exactly, but possibly it came with the latest kernel upgrade. Until then the device was working without any problems and absolutely stable. Unfortunately i have no connection by cable, only with Wifi and possibly it is only the Wifi connection which isn't working anymore? 60. Hello. I am taking the task of organizing and performing the BTT Pi and CB1 support update. The plan is to use mainline kernel 6.6 and 6.8 (basically the default sunxi64 config) instead of the BTT fork and use patches to backport kernel patches for drivers and hardware support. The Jira issue is AR-2312, which is a collection of things that will need to be done for this initiative. @Gunjan Gupta @c0rnelius @ag123 @jernej @ALIGMSTEN I'm asking for your help on this, as Igor has said to me that you are more knowledgeable on the state of the board and what it needs. From what I've found, there has been a PR that upgraded the kernel used for BTT CB1 to 6.1.79 using patch…

  64. Hi, Board: BPI‑M4 Zero OS: Armbian (Bookworm), kernel 6.12.35 (current) This board has two USB‑C ports: one fixed HOST and one OTG. I’d like the OTG port (USB0) to operate as a host as well. I can’t find any Armbian overlay in armbian-config or on the forums that flips USB0 to host. If anyone has this working, it would be cool to let me know . Thanks!

  65. Hello, This is my first attempt to install Armbian on a Pine64 + that I bought 2 weeks ago. I created one from the source, but as the battery management failed, I tried it with a constructed image (Armbian_5.69_Pine64_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.13.img), but it's still the same: everything works fine, except battery management. The state of battery and energy should appear as files in the /sys/class/power/directory, but this directory is not created. I can see this directory and the battery information in other images (like the version of the 3.1 kernel of Ayufan). What I have seen is a strange error (for me) in dmesg, related to the power management modules (axp..…

  69. Hi team, There are no current images for Orange Pi Zero 2 at https://www.armbian.com/cf7stdb-entries/orange-pi-zero-2/ The Zero image does not work. I did manage to find an archived legacy image based on some posts from 2022 however nothing on the new kernel works. My question is this: Is there a reason why these devices require unique builds? I understand the kernel drivers may not be in 6.x for this board however I'm more referring to the huge number of builds that need to be supported. Thanks, Jason

  70. Hello! I have three Libre Computer Tritium H5 boards and three eMMC modules on hands. All three eMMC modules is flashed with exactly same Armbian image and exactly same uboot. 75. Running Armbian Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 on a PineA64, legacy kernel 3.10.105-pine64. Why is it necessary or desirable to put the variable 'ethaddr' in armbianEnv.txt? I thought the hardware mac address would be detected by the kernel. Perhaps not?

  76. Hi. I have a 2GB Pine64+ and have armbian on it. Yes, it's not new, but I noticed the problem only now. It's because my use - in short, I use these boards for hobbyistic low level programming - say an OS loader writing, so it's flash and test, never been looking into linux too deep - only needed utilities. staring at the top is not of that set. Now, when reached the DT parsing, passed by uboot, on this board, my loader, noticed 1GB of RAM... Basically, 1GB, as I see, is a default value set in the dts for pine64-plus yet. The DT is not updated on the fly by uboot, as it looks should be. and when I went to Linux, I saw the same - it sees it as 1GB! …

Editing armbianEnv.txt to add "overlays=bananapi-m4-sdio-wifi-bt" did the trick for Wifi but BT is still not available (neither in standard or rolling builds)... @c0rnelius I know you tried to figure out why, I'm missing technical knowledge to help... Digging the Internet I saw similar bluetooth issue for radxa zero 3w with aic8800, resolved using hciattach / hci up, but needing an available /dev/ttyS1 (UART1) we are missing here... Do you know why? Could it be the problem for banana pi m4 zero and if yes could an overlay …

  90. It looks like the May 28th release produced issues. I tried using the images on the OrangePI Zero 2 and the led only stays red. The prior version worked with no issue.

  91. Looking at the new BPI M4 zero to replace a RPI zero. The official build listed does not have gpio turned or maybe just not built into the kernel. If I download the image from the BPI website it has it but it based on bullseye and the image is broke. I built my own image but still no go so I am not sure what is wrong. I have built images for other boards and projects with success so that's not the problem. I have a 3.5" TFT touch screen and some relays that I need to run along with a sensor.

  92. Hi, I have a Sovol SV08 printer, which is based on BTT CB1 (to the point of basing its software on the CB1 image). I've upgraded it to bookworm, and then installed the latest current Armbian kernel (I eventually would want to go entirely upstream Linux, but I believe that this isn't feasible yet); linux-image-current-sunxi64 24.8.4 (6.6.44-current-sunxi64). Everything largely works and I can print etc.; however, the wired Ethernet refuses to come up. It just repeats this over and over again: [15101.594239] sunxi-gmac 5030000.ethernet end0: No PHY found! [15101.602516] sunxi-gmac 5030000.ethernet end0: phy init failed [15103.394666] sunxi-gmac 50300…

  93. Latest Ubuntu Jammy CLI version and I get: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-5.15.48-sunxi64 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8156b-2.fw for module r8152 after apt upgrade.

  94. Hello, I found this guide: https://github.com/robertojguerra/orangepi-zero-full-setup/blob/main/README2.md I followed the steps and built an Armbian image with current 6.12 kernel and now TV OUT (CVBS, Composite Video), after soldering a cable to the video pin on the board, is working on my Orange Pi One with an Allwinner H3 CPU (the patches might work for other H3/H2+ boards). I would like to get that functionality incorporated into Armbian.

  95. Armbian image version: Armbian 22.08 Bullseye Kernel 5.19.y, Size: 388Mb, Release date: Oct 22, 2022 Bug report: 1: When i reboot my orangepi zero 2 , my devices will be power off. 2: I use the newest image , display nothing on screen. But i have an older version image. It display to screen by Micro-HDMI perfect. 3: Is possible to light up green LED after system start? I mean, when the device power on, red LED light up. It's nice. But if light the green LED up after system start up, I can know my system get no troubles and it's running now.

  96. Hi! I'm using the Sopine A64 Armbian Buster image version 5.91 in combination with my PineA64-LTS SBC. First off I'd like to say that it runs great, thank you guys very much for providing this fully featured image and thereby keeping this SBC up to date! For the last few weeks I've been trying to get the Pine 64 7" LCD screen to work with it, but so far unfortunately I haven't been able to. What I've tried: Follow instructions to get LCD working as stated on the older brother's PineA64 page: add 'pine64_lcd=on' to /boot/armbianEnv.txt, and add 'gt9xxf_ts' to /etc/modules, then reboot. No luck. Read about the Allwinne…

  97. There are a number of people working on getting the orangepi zero3 to work with Armbian. The zero3 is almost identical to the zero2 which is a supported board. The differences between the two have been taken into account by upstream Linux and u-boot changes in at least Linux-6.6 to the point where it is possible to build a working zero3 Armbian image. Everything else in theory should be identical between the two boards. Any changes should apply to both zero2 and 3. My question is, what capabilities are supported by Armbian on the zero2. What is working and tested? - wifi -Bluetooth -HDMI -sound -gpio -i2c, spi It would be helpful t…

  98. First off, I would like to give the crew at Armbian a huge heartfelt thanks for all the awesome work you do under sometimes trying conditions. I would like to present Archian, the bastard child of Armbian & Arch. Why … well, the project I am working on needed current versions of phosh & plasma-mobile and the versions on jammy/bookworm were quite old. The OPi supplied image was quite flaky so I had to find a way to mash these together. And this is the result. It does need to be run as root ! The script has 3 arguments: init - downloads the armbian image file, arch rootfs and arch packages. You need to then write …

  99. Hi all, I've read on the forum that support for usb gadget using the µ-usb port on the libre computer tritium needed a kernel reconfigure & recompile. I tried to start with that, but during configuration, I've seen full support already. So, was it supposed to just work ? I target armbian buster server variant. my need is to use IP over an usb (and power) cable between a linux machine (x86 and then arm) and a tritium h5 Thanks in advance

  100. Hello, I am new to Armbian and Linux in general. I am using an OrangePi Zero 2 (H616) board and need to enable the hardware UART. To do this, I tried using the simplest method I could find: running the command armbian-config -> System -> Hardware. However, in the section where I should find options for peripherals to enable, I found nothing. I have tried installing different versions of Armbian, but nothing changed: - Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepizero2_jammy_current_6.6.31.img - Armbian_24.2.1_Orangepizero2_bookworm_current_6.6.16.img - Armbian_23.8.3_Orangepizero2_bookworm_current_6.1.53.img - Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepizero2_noble_current_6.6.31.i…
