  2. Hello , i have used now for some year armbian for this board, very many thanks for that; lately have updated to newer version Debian Trxiie and found that "htop" report a higher CPU usage after freshboot (around 50%) whereas previously it sat a 10% probably; now when evoking htop it gives (CPU offline for core 2-3-4) also nproc report "1" instead of "4"=? not sure if this an error ; noticed a similar report of nproc also with a build of volumio; thank you very much;

  7. As other people have noted, there are issues trying to connect the CB1 to wifi after the first boot. I believe I've narrowed down the cause, but I'm not sure about the right way to fix it permanently. The issue I was experiencing is as follows: 1. Flash latest armbian minimal to sd card 2. Plug into CB1 and turn it on 3. Go through first boot setup and connect to wifi normally 4. Reboot CB1 5. CB1 no longer connects to wifi, wpa_cli says 'CTRL_EVENT_SCAN_FAILED' A temporary solution I found is to mask systemd-networkd, then manually unmask systemd-networkd and start it after booting. This suggests that the problem is that systemd-net…

  8. Is it possible on a Banana Pi M4 Zero to reboot Armbian running from SD card, so that the next time it boots from the internal storage, without removing the SD card? (and without modifying sdcard boot sector) I want to create an automatic backup internal storage - so that the system (booted from emmc) reboots, starts from the SD card, backs up content emmc to sdcard, and then reboots again, booting from emmc. Is it possible some how?

  9. Hello, I found this guide: https://github.com/robertojguerra/orangepi-zero-full-setup/blob/main/README2.md I followed the steps and built an Armbian image with current 6.12 kernel and now TV OUT (CVBS, Composite Video), after soldering a cable to the video pin on the board, is working on my Orange Pi One with an Allwinner H3 CPU (the patches might work for other H3/H2+ boards). I would like to get that functionality incorporated into Armbian.

  10. I built an Ubuntu current image, as of commit f15f594d0bd4ad1e5d0fa412f1d25120e76e4f9a (Armbian-unofficial_26.05.0-trunk_Bigtreetech-cb1_noble_current_6.18.20.img) and started my newly arrived Pad 7 from it. Things that work out of the box: display, touchscreen, wifi, USB. Not working: LAN is not visible at all (only two wlan interfaces). Also, no audio device. According to schematics, audio is taken from HDMI output, so it should be supported by standard HDMI drivers. Where do I enable it in kernel config? https://github.com/bigtreetech/Pad7/tree/master/Hardware your hints will be appreciated. smar…

  12. Good day. We have a medical device project. We always wanted to have bananapi m4 zero hardware on our main board, with armbian as an OS seeing as it is up to date and fit for purpose. However, our Hardware supplier has not been able to solve the full hardware stack. We currently are able to boot the orangepi zero 3 image... and as far as I understand the hardware chips are very close to each other. We also have emmc on the board. But not working. We desperately need hardware development help so we can get banana pi m4 zero armbian supported OS working. Any advise please. We have 2GB RAM , allwinner h618, axp313. 13. Hello everyone, I am using an Orange Pi Zero 2W with a graphical user interface (GUI). I downloaded and installed the official Orange Pi Zero 2W image. Unfortunately, I keep running into a Wi-Fi connection issue. After booting, the system repeatedly asks me to enter my Wi-Fi password. If I don’t enter it, I have no internet connection. What’s interesting is: If I disable and re-enable Wi-Fi in the network manager, it automatically reconnects to the known network without asking for the password again. Alternatively, a system reboot also restores the Wi-Fi connection automatically. I have already seen o…

  15. Hello, I am looking for a specific legacy image for the Orange Pi Zero 2W: Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Kernel 5.10.160. The reason I need this specific version is to use the device as a USB UVC (Webcam) gadget via ConfigFS. On the newer 6.6/6.12 mainline kernels, I am facing a "Permission Denied" error when trying to write to hHeight, even as root. After researching, it seems this is a known kernel-level restriction in newer versions, and the legacy 5.10 kernel is the most stable for UVC gadget functionality. I’ve checked the current archive mirrors but could only find the 6.6.x versions. Could anyone provide an official archive or a reliable mirror link …

  16. Hi. I have been running mainline on a Pine64 with mipi-dsi lcd Feiyang display since Focal release. 18. Hi all, I’m trying to get KlipperScreen running directly on the framebuffer on a BigTreeTech CB1 that’s using an Allwinner H616B chip. It’s running Armbian Bookworm (kernel 6.6.66-vendor-sunxi64, Dec 2024 build) on a Manta M8P V2.0 board with a TFT35-SPI display that shows up as fb_st7796s. The goal is to have KlipperScreen render directly to /dev/fb0 without needing a desktop or HDMI. The framebuffer itself seems fine as the screen shows the BigTreeTech logo on boot, and I can write to it manually, so the driver appears to be working correctly. KlipperScreen installs fine, the Python environment and dependencies are all in place, but when I launch it, I always ge…

  19. Hello everyone, I'm trying to get an ST7735S LCD display working with my Orange Pi Zero 2 (H616). 20. Hello, I have two Orange Pi Zero 2 for two years, I didn't know what to do with it. Yesterday I have installed Armbian_25.5.1_Orangepizero2_noble_current_6.12.23. 21. A while back I tried the more recent kernels (non-legacy) and noticed these issues. Back then I didn't have the possibility to investigate further and I just ended up forcing the kernel back to old legacy kernel. This time around I have the time to actually troubleshoot more, so here we go. When I last updated everything, the kernel got updated from 6.1.104-legacy-sunxi64 to 6.6.75-legacy-sunxi64, the immediate thing I noticed was that the WLAN did get detected. There is a thread about missing wifi with a linked PR, but either that fix hasn't landed in the 6.6.x kernel or something else is wrong. The other issue is that the 6.6.x kernel seems to be…

  25. Currently using Armbian as a PiHole DNS server, it seems that after a few days the server just shuts itself down (Armbian 25.5.1 Noble 6.12). Not sure if it is a hardware related issue, I'll do some more tests and revert back to 25.2.2 Bookworm for now and see if the issue is replicated. Please note that my primary Armbian PiHole DNS does not encounter the same issue, though the version of it is Noble v25.2.3 / 6.12.30.

  26. SOURCE: https://github.com/MathiasStadler/orange-pi-zero-boot-from-spi I spent the whole day trying to boot without a microSD, and I finally got it, using the Orange Pi Zero SPI boot tutorial, with a few adjustments. 27. Hi, Board: BPI‑M4 Zero OS: Armbian (Bookworm), kernel 6.12.35 (current) This board has two USB‑C ports: one fixed HOST and one OTG. I’d like the OTG port (USB0) to operate as a host as well. I can’t find any Armbian overlay in armbian-config or on the forums that flips USB0 to host. If anyone has this working, it would be cool to let me know . Thanks!

  33. I've got an Pine64 a that was one of the Kickstarter models. For a couple of years I've been running OctoPrint on it to run my Qidi i-mates 3d printer. Recently I decided to update from jammy to noble, before I did that I made a backup of my OctoPrint settings and files through the OctoPrint GUI in case of problems. I got a really messed inconsistent with all sorts of dependencies errors because the apt dist-upgrade seemed to freeze and after several hours of no movement I rebooted. As expected it was the mess. 37. On the latest image (25.2.2) of both Server - Noble and Desktop - XFCE - Bookworm, the wireless interfaces show up as expected and connect to wifi. After the first apt upgrade and reboot, the system no longer detects the wireless interface at all. For my armbianmonitor output, there is a mediatek wireless interface plugged into USB, but there is no mention of the rtl8189 in any of the boot or hardware logs. Did something change in the overlay or other pre-kernel bootloader configs which disable the device? I would think if it were merely kernel / driver related, the hardware would still show up, but be unusable until a driver was configured.

  45. Looking at the new BPI M4 zero to replace a RPI zero. The official build listed does not have gpio turned or maybe just not built into the kernel. If I download the image from the BPI website it has it but it based on bullseye and the image is broke. I built my own image but still no go so I am not sure what is wrong. I have built images for other boards and projects with success so that's not the problem. I have a 3.5" TFT touch screen and some relays that I need to run along with a sensor.

  46. I need to use a 10 inch 800x600 DSI display in a Pine64 project and I think the easiest way to do this would be to modify the driver for the Pine 7 inch DSI display. It appears to me that the display resolution is hard coded in this driver (panel-feiyang-07024di26a30d.ko) and not supplied by a device tree overlay like some other Armbian SBCs. In the C source for this driver, I see the following data structure which defines a 1024x600 screen size for the 7 inch display ... static const struct drm_display_mode feiyang_default_mode = { .clock = 55000, .hdisplay = 1024, .hsync_start = 1024 + 310, .hsync_end = 1024 + 310 +…

  47. Pine A64 · Started by Paul Smith,

By following the instruction how to enable ili9486 on orange pi, I have tried to do that with pine64. So, I installed armbian focal 22.10 with 5.15 kernel, enabled spidev and overlayed dts with tft installation and initialization. But still have a white display. Also I was trying another way to use/edit fbtft, the same issue. `dmesg` shows that spi driver no compatible with ili9486

  48. Hi everyone, I'm struggling to get gpio_keys working. I'm trying to use the overlay, which I have attached below, but after reboot there is no event node listed in "/dev/input/". (There is only one node named mice.) Inspecting dmesg, I found the following error messages: [ 1.529891] sun50i-h616-pinctrl 300b000.pinctrl: pin PC8 already requested by gpio-keys-user; cannot claim for 300b000.pinctrl:72 [ 1.529917] gpio-keys gpio-keys-user: failed to get gpio: -22 [ 1.529926] gpio-keys: probe of gpio-keys-user failed with error -22 Inspecting the dts file of my board (orange pi zero 2), I found that PC5,PC6 and PC8 are…

Today i noticed BTT now also released their armbian and armbian+klipper builds recently https://github.com/bigtreetech/CB1/releases So which on is it? 50. Hey folks, I have a really weird issue where any time I try to `cat` any of the cpufreq files or use any of the cpufreq commands, it just hangs indefinitely. I've made sure that everything is up to date, reinstalled cpufreq, and because I have 2 of the same board, have confirmed that it's an issue with both of my Zero 2s. I also ran `strace` on one of the cpufreq commands and found that it's getting hung on a write step: openat(AT_FDCWD, "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor", O_WRONLY) = 3 write(3, "ondemand", 8 Other than this, the device has been doing just fine. Any advice on this is welcome! OrangePi Zero2 Armbian (24.11.1) aarch6…

  51. Hoping someone can help me out. When I use the desktop images from the following page: https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m4-zero/, I get my display properly identified (connected via HDMI) and can change resolution, rotation, etc. However, as with noted in other posts, these do not have WiFi. In order to get WiFi working, I use the image from here: https://docs.banana-pi.org/en/BPI-M4_Zero/BananaPi_BPI-M4_Zero. For my needs, this image works fine with the one exception. It does not detect the display and only shows default with no ability to change settings. I have poked around and tried to find a solution but am coming up empty. Is there so…

  52. In short, I'm trying to build a FULLY-PREEMPT-REALTIME system to run on my Orange Pi Zero 2W. I used this post as a reference, and got quite far. But, I'm stuck on something that I believe I undestand, but don't know how to resolve. I don't believe this is a probleme specific to my board though. What I've done so far with success is both install and run a pre-built Armbian Image on this board, as well as build my own image and run it. Both work perfectly. Now, I'm attempting to apply the RT patch and build a fresh image (or even just a Kernel) to get the FULL REALTIME kernel support working. However, the build sy…

  53. Hello, The latest build Armbian_24.5.1_Bigtreetech-cb1_bookworm_current_6.6.31_minimal.img.xz does not seem to boot on BTT Pi v1.2 (blank screen, no signs of anything happening, no ethernet) I checked archival version Armbian_24.2.3_Bigtreetech-cb1_bookworm_legacy_6.1.79_minimal.img.xz and it works just fine. Any ideas?

  54. Hi everyone, I’m trying to get a 3.5-inch RPi display with the XPT2046 touch controller (480x320 resolution) to work on my Orange Pi One (H3). I’ve been looking for guides, but most of them are Raspberry Pi-specific and not directly applicable to the Orange Pi. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: Installed Armbian on the Orange Pi One. Connected the display via the SPI interface. Installed fbtft and tried different configurations for the screen. However, I haven’t been able to get the display to show anything or to interact with the touch input. Does anyone have experience using this specific setup? What drivers or overlays shou…

  55. Hello. The BigTreeTech TFT35 SPI works well but has ghost touches. So it's unusable for control tasks like on a 3D printer. It gives random commands to the printer from time to time, which can be dangerous. 59. First off, I would like to give the crew at Armbian a huge heartfelt thanks for all the awesome work you do under sometimes trying conditions. I would like to present Archian, the bastard child of Armbian & Arch. Why … well, the project I am working on needed current versions of phosh & plasma-mobile and the versions on jammy/bookworm were quite old. The OPi supplied image was quite flaky so I had to find a way to mash these together. And this is the result. It does need to be run as root ! The script has 3 arguments: init - downloads the armbian image file, arch rootfs and arch packages. You need to then write …

  60. Following up from another thread: I compiled an edge kernel (6.11.2-edge-sunxi64) for my Sovol SV08, in part because I'd like ftrace support (for perf sched). It comes up, except there is no /class/thermal/thermal_zone0/ (which Klipper demands to work, perhaps sensibly enough). dmesg says: [ 23.775976] platform 5070400.thermal-sensor: deferred probe pending: platform: wait for supplier It's a bit strange, since my understanding is that the full error message should be “wait for supplier XYZ”, i.e., some specific supplier. This was built with ./compile.sh kernel BOARD=bigtreetech-cb1 BRANCH=edge KERNEL_GIT=shallow and then a hack to us…

  62. Hi, I have a Sovol SV08 printer, which is based on BTT CB1 (to the point of basing its software on the CB1 image). I've upgraded it to bookworm, and then installed the latest current Armbian kernel (I eventually would want to go entirely upstream Linux, but I believe that this isn't feasible yet); linux-image-current-sunxi64 24.8.4 (6.6.44-current-sunxi64). 64. Hi everyone. Tried stable and experimental builds. Also build my own image. All 6.x kernels don't seem to have a working wifi on this board. Tried modprobe brcmfmac without any luck - module loads but no wlan0 comes up. The board to my understanding has CYW43455 chip (from Cypress). Apparently there are several variations of BPI M4 Zero. The only image that has working wifi is from BPI website but it's a backports build with 5.4 kernel, so fairly old and outdated (running an upgrade makes the board unbootable). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  65. Hello. Because of bad CB1 eMMC board manual, and very incompetent and formal tech support (they approve that their boards can only be used for 3D printers🤦🤣) I don't understand, what pins (GPIOs) of CB1 eMMC board are used for I2C and SPI interfaces. And what pins will correspond to I2C and SPI interfaces in armbian-config -> System -> Hardware? I tried to test the board with the Pi4b_Adapter, but as I understood from pinout in the manual for the adapter (the pins for I2C 3 and 5) don't work with CB1 (NC - not connected), it works only with CM4. Does anyone know what other I2C pins are exposed on the adapter board? I plan to use the CB1 board as a platform for …

  67. Hello, I've been having some issues with the official CB1 image on github provided by BTT. Namely, I'm having CAN issues with bytes_invalid increasing during printing operation which is exacerbated once I add more than 1 CAN device. One of the recommendations was to try a newer kernel so I'm trying to migrate to Armbian. 80. Hello. I am taking the task of organizing and performing the BTT Pi and CB1 support update. The plan is to use mainline kernel 6.6 and 6.8 (basically the default sunxi64 config) instead of the BTT fork and use patches to backport kernel patches for drivers and hardware support. The Jira issue is AR-2312, which is a collection of things that will need to be done for this initiative. @Gunjan Gupta @c0rnelius @ag123 @jernej @ALIGMSTEN I'm asking for your help on this, as Igor has said to me that you are more knowledgeable on the state of the board and what it needs. From what I've found, there has been a PR that upgraded the kernel used for BTT CB1 to 6.1.79 using patch…

There are only links to daily/rolling releases. I understand how much time and effort goes into maintaining a large number of boards. Hi, on latest Armbian 23.11.1 Bookworm with PINE64 board I noticed those warnings in journal: Feb 12 10:00:45 pine64 systemd[1]: /lib/systemd/system/systemd-journal-upload.service:33: Unknown key name 'RestartSteps' in s> Feb 12 10:00:45 pine64 systemd[1]: /lib/systemd/system/systemd-journal-upload.service:34: Unknown key name 'RestartMaxDelaySec> I suspect the `systemd-journal-upload.service` is not in tact with systemd daemon version installed.

  90. Hello I've tried both Bookworm and Jammy (also older version). None boot up - nothing. The red LED starts blinking after after a few seconds. Yes the SD card is good, Yes the power supply is good (both work with the official images). Yes I've tried different SD card and power supplies. Is there an image/version someone can confirm was tested and works? thank you

  91. Hi, I am new to all this and I have downloaded everything to my sd card. When I power on the board it gets stuck on "started update UTMP about system runlevel changes" and does nothing more. some images at https://imgur.com/92ZOiwD

  92. @Igor What is the status of the orangepione? On the download page there are no images presented yet in the build framework is shows up as "conf" in the support (1st) page.

  93. Hi! Now that the camera interface has been merged in mainline Kernel, I would like to try to use the OrangePi OV5640 camera module on my OrangePi One. So with the latest Armbian Bionic (20.02.1, kernel 5.4.20), I have been trying to get a device tree overlay. But for now, it fails to compile with: $ sudo armbian-add-overlay sun8i-h3-csi.dts Compiling the overlay Error: sun8i-h3-csi.dts:27.23-24 syntax error FATAL ERROR: Unable to parse input tree Error compiling the overlay My current overlay looks like this: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __overlay__ { …

  94. Hi all, I am trying to get an OV5640 camera working on the orangePiOne. I found this thread and was wondering if the overlay (or some overlay) is still required. Without anything extra, the camera is not detected. It says that sun6i-csi and ov5640 kernel modules should be loaded, so I loaded them manually with modprobe but nothing happens and nothing is shown in dmesg. Adding the mentioned overlay with "sudo armbian-add-overlay csi-ov5640.dts" just gives me an error in dmesg at reboot time "failed on fdt_overlay_apply(): FDT_ERR_NOTFOUND Error applying DT overlays, restoring original DT" uname -a Linux orangepione2 6…

  96. I have been trying to get DS3231 to work with the OrangePi Zero 2 via the i2c bus. I have tried setting the following settings in /boot/armbianEnv.txt overlay_prefix=sun8i-h6 overlay=i2c0 i2c1 i2c2 However, I am not able to use i2c tools to read the DS3231. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you in advance!

  99. I recently bought a couple of A64-LTS boards from the Pine Store, but I couldn't get the official Armbian images to boot on them. https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ I could, however, get Manjaro to boot on them, and when I created an SD card with U-Boot from the Manjaro SD card, and the partition from the Armbian (Bullseye CLI) image, it booted into Armbian. I noticed, though, that Manjaro distinguishes between the Pine A64(+) and the Pine A64-LTS. Tow-boot also makes the same distinction. So I wondered if maybe Armbian wasn't booting on my A64-LTS boards because it wasn't making that distinction, but it should be. (I also noticed that …

  100. There are a number of people working on getting the orangepi zero3 to work with Armbian. The zero3 is almost identical to the zero2 which is a supported board. The differences between the two have been taken into account by upstream Linux and u-boot changes in at least Linux-6.6 to the point where it is possible to build a working zero3 Armbian image. Everything else in theory should be identical between the two boards. Any changes should apply to both zero2 and 3. My question is, what capabilities are supported by Armbian on the zero2. What is working and tested? - wifi -Bluetooth -HDMI -sound -gpio -i2c, spi It would be helpful t…
