Hi Experts, I was using Armbian image (Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie_3.4.113.img) on orange pi zero without any issue for 3-4 weeks. I connected a speaker to LINEOUTL and suddenly my Armbian image became very unstable during boot it hangs at random places and some time crashes. May I know if Armbian Images on orange pi zero tested successfully (booting process) when LINEOUTL is connected to a speaker ?

I am writing this as i am searching to find some info. Why i ended here you may ask? I was searching google for pointers and i ended in topic here about Android TV boxes that can have Emmc reflashed with Armbian or dual boot. Yes you can say, "why you not post to xda-developers forum then?" Most of stuff there regarding to this device are fixing buggy fake android and unbrick topics. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Device i have is using old Android 6 and is rooted. I also have full dump of device ROM if something happen. SoC is based on Mediatek AC8227L CPU is 4x Armv7L running at 1.1ghz …

This "motd" fragment has a bug/inconsistency. # any changes will be lost on board support package update THIS_SCRIPT="armbian-config" MOTD_DISABLE="" /etc/defaults/armbian-motd has : # add space-separated list of MOTD script names (without number) to exclude them from MOTD # Example: # MOTD_DISABLE="header tips updates" This works correctly for the other "motd" fragments which contain, for instance : THIS_SCRIPT="sysinfo" MOTD_DISABLE="" but fails to disable 41-armbian-config unless the MOTD_DISABLE string includes armbian-config. I've verified that nothing untoward happens if you change 41-armbian-config to …

Hi Everyone. I'm having trouble updating to TLS 1.2 on my pcDuino 3 and cannot connect to any website other than Google.com or pinging 8.8.8.8 See attached return from my terminal when attempting to run "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade openssl" Seems http://www.wiimu.com from what I can tell is a server from a company called LinkSprite. I think the company has disbanded and no longer offers any services… Also seems LinkSprite was lead/CEO by a guy named Jingfeng Liu who is the creator of pcDuino. Also Link Sprite does not monitor their forums nor respond to queries of any sort. There’s got to b…

Dear community, I'm trying to build Armbian for radxa E25. I'm using the repository provided in this merge request: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4718 So I pulled https://github.com/krachlatte/radxa-e25 and launched compilation using ./compile.sh BOARD=radxa-e25 RELEASE=jammy BRANCH=edge KERNEL_ONLY=yes But compilation failed with: OBJCOPY u-boot-nodtb.bin start=$(ccache aarch64-none-linux-gnu-nm u-boot | grep __rel_dyn_start | cut -f 1 -d ' '); end=$(ccache aarch64-none-linux-gnu-nm u-boot | grep __rel_dyn_end | cut -f 1 -d ' '); tools/relocate-rela u-boot-nodtb.bin 0x00a00000 $start $end ./"arch/arm/mach-rockc…

Hi, I am trying to accommodate a SIM800 GSM module using UART3 of OP Lite. For the beginning, just to send a SMS and later on a MMS with a photo taken from gc2035 camera. This is a source that I made for arduino which works: Serial.print("AT+CMGS="); Serial.print(char(34)); //before and after phone nr a char (") must be sent Serial.print(Phone_nr); Serial.println(char(34)); delay(100); Serial.print(message); delay(100); Serial.println(char(26)); //end of message char I have set FEX for the UART3 but now I am struggling to start this using system commands, such as: echo "AT+CMGS=\r\n" /dev/…

Hi all, my first post here. Just a short question - is it possible to configure static IP address before the first boot by editing some configuration file in boot partition? I had to SSH to Orange Pi PC after installing Armbian_21.05.1_Orangepipc_buster_current_5.10.34.img in the network where there isn't DHCP and I set up the static IP address by connecting the SBC to the monitor and running nmtui. I could set the IP address by connecting the SBC directly to the computer by using LAN cable too but the easiest way would be if there is an option of configuring the static IP by editing some file in boot partition before the first boot.

I have deleted this project please see https://github.com/sgjava/userspaceio as it covers I2C, SPI and serial in addition to the new GPIOD. I posted instructions over in the H2/H3 forum, but my build project for libgpiod should work on any Armbian mainline distribution, so I'm posting a link here to my Github site. The install is scripted and comes with the ability to generate Python and Java bindings. libgpiod replaces the deprecated sysfs since kernel 4.8. libgpiod-extra project aims to make cross platform/cross language GPIO development a reality. No more one off hacked up Wiring Pi or RPi.GPIO for each SBC. I need help testing across multiple S…

I appily donated and started to study this distro. I am learning what it is and what it could do for me as micro server. Especially am uninstalling and purging software. For example there is Thunderbird into my orange Pi Armbian. I need to purge it. I need to purge Libre office. If I give: sudo apt-get remove (or purge) thunderbird, the terminal says that the app doesn't exists. Please can I uninstall software via other ways? Thanks.

As I recently wrote I started to use the desktop with armbian. Two obvious missing things puzzle me, but that maybe as not many are using it: xserver restart (ctrl + alt+ backspace) key kombination is missing disabled by default, go to >settings>session & startup>autostart and add: "setxkbmap -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" can this be added into a config file of XFCE as a standard? The other options that are available for setxkbmap "-option X" are determined by /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst Text Editior - the only text editor available... It is not bound to Freenode (although it will come pre-configured for #armbian and I would appreciate to see you hang around there ). You are free to connect any IRC network you want as long as it is IPv6 capable. You don't know what a bouncer is? Pause reading and check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BNC_(software) A…

Just a small post about how to connect the PL2303HX RS-232 adaptor cable and the Real Time Clock. Do not trust the Banana pi photos as the I2C bus in the Lamobo/Banana PI R1 is inverted. As they say a picture is better than a thousand words. Often the online Banana PI/Lamobo PI diagrams can be confusing, and do not even try to guide yourself by Banana PI pinouts / photos of placement of hardware products/extensions. I will reiterate again, as this can be a source of confusion, the Banana PI is a rebranded Lamobo product, and the GPIO bus is different/rotated 180º. To scan the GPIO: $sudo i2cdetect -l i2c-0 i2c mv64xxx_i2c adapter I2C…

Hey Armbian Forums! First post here, so excuse me if I'm not in the exact correct subforums, but I spent the better part of last night compiling an Armbian image specifically for the Banana Pi M2, it says unsupported which makes sense, because finding any information or images for this board has been a nightmare, I got the original Banana Pi Armbian image to load on it, but from there couldn't not figure out how to get the wifi working for the life of me, the M2 has the allwinner A31 chip, and AMPAK bluetooth/wifi chip on board as well, but for some reason the board wasn't picking them up, even after trying to modprobe different drivers and whatever else. So I booted up m…

I am trying to use a DHT21 with a Lamobo R1 aka Banana PI R1 to read temperature and humidity, with Armbian/Jessie and a 4.5.2 kernel. A Lamobo R1 is basically an A20 board raspberry pi compatible, with an inverted compatible raspberry pi v2 bus. I have setup it up in GPIO5, raspberry pin compatible 24, WirinPi 5, physical pin 18, according to a table here, plus the GND and +5V pins. I tried to read the temperature and humidity with and without the recommended resistor. While the temperature is reading fine, and is also corroborated by a DS18b20 sensor connected to GPIO2, which indicates the setup is fine, the humidity is always at 99.9%. I have installed the WiringPi…

For those of you running a large SBC cluster - what is your solution for powering your boards. I currently have a cluster of 18 boards that I am powering with several multiport usb chargers. hey, I'm having some trouble with my ssh connection to an armbian based server. It feels like a heavy lag within the filesystem, sometimes it takes up to 20 seconds to open a file with vim or use cd with tab-completion. But it is not always there, it feels more like some heavy write operation occurs spontaneously. I start digging but I have no clue why this happens. But at least I found the most disk I/O processes which are influxdb and mysql. Hi, I'm new to the SoC / Armbian world, and I'm trying to connect to my NanoPC-T4 via UART (Armbian 20.11.7 Focal with Linux 5.9.14-rockchip64). I'm using an ADAFRUIT Industries 954 USB-to-TTL serial cable. The NanoPC-T4 pin spec indicates SPI1_TXD/UART4_TX(3V) as pin 19, GND as pin 20, and SPI1_RXD/UART4_RX(3V) as pin 21. I have hooked up my ADAFRUIT accordingly with the white receptacle (RX) to pin 19, the black receptacle (GND) to pin 20, and the green receptacle (TX) to pin 21. The full NanoPC-T4 pin spec is here: http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPC-T4. The kernel command line is as follows: [ 0.00…

There is an opensource wm that I'd like to use with Armbian. I have compiled and installed it, but would like to have it as a package. I have forked a repo that makes a .deb of this wm and built it with Shippable (so aarch64). I don't have any Debian mirror to host it... so... What is the standard way to build a package for Armbian? There are also other libraries/tools (like pacman, libarchive) that I have compiled (because I could not find them)... Thanks.

Armbian noob here. I am looking for some guidance from the Armbian experts. I am familier with Debian 8 and 9 on x86/adm64 architectures as well as Raspbian on RPi's. Been using Linux off and on for 15 years. Just purchased some Rock64 boards and plan on using them for NextcloudPi, PiVPN, and PiHole. I just saw that Armbian has released a nightly of Debian Stretch for the Rock64. I have downloaded it and gotten it installed. Ran apt-get upgrade/apt-get update and all went well. Does this Armbian image have all the "standard" packages and utilities installed? Are their any other general packages/app that I need for a general server image? An…

Greetings, colleagues! When I connect a Wi-Fi USB adapter, the system assigns it a terrible interface name! I'm used to the fact that a well-bred Linux gives them names like wlan0, wlan1, etc... Armbian gives the name according to the following scheme: "wlx<MAC-ADDRESS>"! It is very uncomfortable! How I can persuade him to give names according to the traditional scheme? I am grateful for the answers on the essence of the question, Ogogon.

The Z80-MBC2 is a 4-chip Z80-computer which can run CP/M and has a 5V TTL-serial-port. The Z80-MBC2 is powered and accessable via a USB-TTL-serial-adapter (configured to 5V - not 3.3V) type CP2102 seen as /dev/ttyUSB0 The easy way would be to connect the USB-adapter to a Pi-style computer wth armbian, login via SSH and start minicom for the port. But that way doenst look as good - to me - as the following way First we need to install ser2net and telnet (telnet doesnt seem to be installed as standard) in armbian via apt install ser2net telnet Then we have to edit /etc/ser2net.conf (delete all lines after the comments and in…

Hello everyone! I am here to ask for knowledgeable suggestion: I am looking for a possibly armbian supported board capable of hardware transcoding a single 1920x1080 hdmi source at 15 fps. Source is coming from a usb UVC video grabber in raw yuv422 format. Hard requirements is to produce a rtsp stream at original resolution/framerate of the source. Soft requirements is to have also an HTML5 embeddable stream to use in a web application without needing a plugin. Tipically, this would be a MP4 (h.264 codec) and a webm (V8 codec) streams (possibly both to ensure best browser compatibility). This would be used for monitoring purposes by the user, so 5fps…

Just a quick note to help other users that may have the same problem: Recently I've added the 2 USB expansion board to my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian. As the new USB ports did not get listed by lsusb, I've looked into /boot/armbianEnv.txt: It started with samba configuration (?) and a bunch of NUL characters (!). I assume it was corrupted by some wrong power outage. Anyway, recovering the armbianEnv.txt file from original armbian image solved the issue. For reference, this is my current WORKING armbianEnv.txt file contents: verbosity=1 logo=disabled console=both disp_mode=1920x1080p60 overlay_prefix…

So, I've been doing some reading, and found this ... https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/Documentation/devicetree/overlay-notes.rst Looks like a mechanism to dynamically load or unload device tree overlays live. Really the only change is that .dtbo files need to be compiled with symbols (-@) like this: dtc -@ -o myoverlay.dtbo myoverlay.dts And then you can load/unload those overlays after (or during) boot by doing something like this: # Creates the dynamic overlay mkdir /sys/kernel/config/device-tree/overlays/myoverlay # Load the dynamic overlay cat myoverlay.dtbo > /sys/kerne…

Hey all, wasn't sure where to post this so I figured here is fine. I was wonderng: Is there a repository of older armbian releases? Specifically: Tinkerboard S Armbian Bionic 4.19.y Desktop Kernel. For the past couple months I've been developing on my ASUS Tinkerboard S running the Armbian Bionic 4.19.y Desktop release. However, sometime recently, the updated 4.4.y release came out for Armbian Bionic Desktop. I tried it, and it turns out one of the updates actually break a decent part of my system I had working (partly due to the lack nodm on the system now, which was warned). I'll update my system eventually, but it's not really worth it for the …

Can anyone recomend any displays to be used with these boards? Current options i have are "modified keychain / photoframe" attached to usb bus and or standard HDMI devices im thinking along the lines of an LVDS displayor something driven from the GPIO pins, has anyone any experience with this or am i alone in the dark? Links would be good as this may also benefit others. EDIT : scratch that for the Opi-One, its a camera connector.. will stick with the hacked photoframe idea

Hello everybody, I am new to this forum, and stumbled upon Armbian while looking for OS options for the NanoPi M4 board. Great work! The board is running well now, but I do have a few questions: Armbian is WIP, but as NicoD says it's actually very stable. Any idea when it's going to "supported" officially? I did have an issue with the 4.4 kernel, which I worked around. How is your experience with more recent kernels, is it advisable to upgrade? Or will the official image be upgraded from the LibreElec kernel? (Compiling a kernel still seems a little bit daunting to me, although I did it on x86 chips years ago). What timeframe i…

Now the picture is complete, and it's better news than the September note suggested. Three things in Firefox's own code: 1. There's a fallback chain already, and it's three deep. CreateTexture tries zero-copy import first; if that fails it has CreateTextureViaCopyYUV for NV12 and CreateTextureViaCopyP010 for 10-bit. 2. Those fallbacks already use the external-texture machinery — the exact mechanism a whole-frame import needs: aGLContext->fBindTexture(LOCAL_GL_TEXTURE_EXTERNAL, srcTex); aGLContext->fEGLImageTargetTexture2D(LOCAL_GL_TEXTURE_EXTERNAL, mEGLImage[aPlane]); So Firefox can bind a dma-buf as an external texture. It just does it …

On January 31st I decided to order two EspressoBIN boards with 2GB RAM each. What made me take the final decision was that the pfSense developers got pfSense running on the board (it's still in alpha, but it very much adds value to the board). In addition, Armbian's compatibility page (see the download page) lists two devices that I'm interested in: The USB3-to-Gbit Ethernet adapter. The Mini-PCIe-to-4-SATA-ports card. Note: This card will not be able to reach the full 6Gbit for SATA, but around 5Gbit, which is still quite good. And last but not least; Armbian of course needs some testers on this platform. Here are the t…

Hi, I have a OpenVPN server running on the broadband router installed at my parents house. My router at home connects to this and I mirror my complete NAS over this connection. My brother also has a laptop on which he uses VPN occasionally to copy important stuff there. Since the router has only a small dual core MIPS CPU, VPN speeds are limited to about 18Mbit/s. The connection at my parents home is 100/50Mbit/s and mine at home 250/80Mbit/s, so it could work faster. Also, the VPN takes up all the CPU so for example DNS resolution is slow if the VPN is saturated. For this reason, I'd like to buy a inexpensive small device tha…

Hi, Please excuse me if this question has been brought up before, but I recently got a couple of Orange Pi 4G IOT boards, and I find the instructions for flashing Ubuntu lacking. So I wonder, does armbian work on this particular board? It would be awesome if I could flash it with armbian, and install the drivers for the modem later (as long as wifi works ofcourse so I can actually connect to it).

Hello dear experts at Armbian well the mysql_connect_error-script is a great help: It returns a string description of the last connect error ( see more infos here: https://www.php.net/manual/en/mysqli.connect-error.php ). The mysqli_connect_error() function returns the error description from the last connection error, if there is any error-note. the return value are the following ones: a. A string that describes the error. b. an empty string if no error occurred. at least this goes for the Version: PHP 5, PHP 7 well - if we run the code below we can get the info bout the option to connect to the db. What if we run this as a …

dear community, let me express that i am very very lucky to be here - to be here and being a part of this great and awesome community. had good times working on Banana-Pi with some stuff like NAS things. But now i want to put on Raspi things that are parts of a IoT-Server. Therefore i am planning a headstart into docker! Docker is a tool that allows you to deploy applications inside of software containers. With Docker, images are used to configure the operating system and install an application's dependencies. Then from the image, containers are created to run the application. Well - running Docker on the Banana Pi seems to be very he…

What do you think about SBCs as the preferred platform to handle encrypted/sensitive/classified data? The threat model would be for frequent travelers, against things like evil maid attacks on laptops left in a hotel room or while the laptop is separated from you during travel. The sensitive data would be kept on an encrypted portable hard drive. It would be decrypted and mounted by the SBC, which only allows login via SSH from your laptop's public key. SBCs have a number of benefits over desktops and laptops, namely: Its hardware is plainly inspectable and difficult to tamper with. Unlike desktops or laptops which are vulnerable to evil ma…

As some might imagine, you can buy a bunch of different ribbon cables on Aliexpress. Different pitches, pins, etc... I could just buy the camera module but I would like an extended cable for my uses, just to be safe. It looks like the one it comes with is prolly only 6 inches. I can't quite discern from the product listings the type of ribbon cable used for OPi cameras and I'd like to know so that I can bundle it with my next purchase. So, if anyone who has one, can provide pictures (with something reliable to scale) or details, it would be much appreciated. If I find an extension option that proves to work, I'll post it here. Hi guys. Ive seen this forum from time to time in search results. And now i finally registered to ask a question. Im looking for very cheap (under 80$), extreemely powersavvy pc with AES support. This machine will work in my home 24/7 as OpenVPN server only (no other stuff). I pay the bills myself so energy is my main concern. I already own 3 pc's , 2 monitors, 2 smartphones, and 3 network devices and this time this new machine needs to be almost unnoticable in my energy bills. At first I was thinking about Raspberry Pi 3 or RPi 3 + but i found that its bottleneck is gigabit NIC which is poorly implemented. In the other hand AFAIK ODROID C2 has si…

I'm pretty disillusioned. No system for the rockpi meets all my expectations. But TwisterOS comes very close. Even though I don't play computer games, I like the desktop and also the gimmick with the circles. Most of all I like that I can run Kodi and firefox from the same login. This is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately the hardware PWM does not work under TwisterOS. Neither via overlay, nor with manually changed dtb file. I discovered that TwisterOS and LE use the same kernel version. Under LE my driver works, so I would like to try copying the kernel from LE to TwisterOS. Now both systems boot completely different. What do I need to…

Hi everyone, I'm running a small application on an Armbian-based SBC and need a reliable SMTP Service Provider for sending notifications and transactional emails. Hi, Not sure where to post this so apologies if this is the wrong place. I currently have a .me.uk email domain and I can confirm addresses if I change them. However I am in the process of migrating to a .email domain and the confirmation emails never arrive. I am running into minor issues with this domain so this is not unique to Armbian forums. The vast majority of sites work ok but a rare few claim my email address is invalid or (as with the armbian forum) I never receive anything. The only way I have been able to post this was to change my email back to .me.uk and confirm via that. Is it possible to check if the softw…

Hi Experts, I am using Armbian on Orange Pi Zero and image is working fine and we can access armbian console withe the three pins next to ethernet port. However we see that there are Rx, Tx pin on 26 pin header compatible to Raspberry pi. When we connect the console to the GND/Rx/Tx on 26 pin header we do not get console so my understanding is that there is a dedicated serial port for console that can be accessed from GND/Rx/Tx next to ethernet port and Serial port on Tx/Rx pins on 26 pin header is different. We need extra serial port to connect our UART based peripheral. So I am wondering if I can use the Rx/Tx/GND on 26 pin header, if yes how do I use them …

I just have to share my method to test distros headless with my OdroidN2. The N2 boots eMMC before SD card, so what I did was to flash the SD card with an armbian distro and get it up and running. the SD card always shows up on mmcblk0 and the eMMC on mmcblk1. So it boots from SD when it can't find a bootloader on the eMMC. I can flash any image easily with dd if=image of=/dev/mmcblk1 and just do a reboot, and it will boot the eMMC. Whenever I want to test another image, i can just do dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=1M count=1 to make the eMMC unbootable, causing it to start on the SD image on the next reboot. A very …
