Hi (and happy new year everyone!), I recently put a SSD in my Cubietruck and installed the Cubietruck Vanilla Image (with Kernel 4.x) on it. This is working fine, but what bugs me is the fact that I still need to have a microSD-card installed. As far as I understood, the bootloader cannot directly boot to SATA (missing drivers). How does the bare Image on the microSD-card achieve this? And even more important: How can I move the 'important' part (which does the bootloading and SATA drivers) to NAND so I can boot without a microSD-card installed? Thanks in advance!

Hi, i'am desperate with my banana-p1 M1. It is (still) running nicely with an old 'Lemaker' Lubuntu version. But its an old linux version and the are 'iceweasel' issues in combination with https. So, it's a good time to use a (much) newer version of linux. I've tried several versions/downloads of Armbian: debian, ubuntu. I've tried different (tested with F3write/read) SD cards. Used several methods to 'write' the SD-card(s), like 'dd' or the etcher-tool.... ALL results have the same problem. (i've got an picture of the screen, but i can't upload it to this forum???) In sort, it say's: U-boot 2020.10-armbian ..... Allwinner Tech... CPU: Allwinner A20 (SUN7I)…

Orange Pi Zero 512 MB has a serious wifi problem. After i connect the wifi network, i loose connection and i can't access my zero until i connect with ethernet cable. Interestingly, after i connect ethernet cable, wifi reconnects. i set up my wifi connection with nmtui. Auto connect enabled. I really need to solve this wifi issue. In my thinking there two options, which one is better i don't know. 1 st option: I have to buy wifi adaptor, but i don't know will it solve the problem. (and probably i am going to have driver problem) 2nd option: I am going to write a new thread with python. This code will check wifi connection every 10 seconds, if …

Hi, I have been working on this problem for a few days. I have a orangepi plus2e and orange pi 5'' lcd. When I make all the connections and give power to the orangepi, I can not see anything on the LCD. At first only a white light comes out. Later on, I looked at the 5 inch screen produced by OrangePi with 640x480 resolution and the LCD settings on the H3 boards. I tried to set the resolution with the h3disp command, but I did not see the proper resolution. I did these on a different computer screen, and when I changed the resolution, nothing appeared on this screen.

Hi everyones, Last week, I tried to read the value from DS18b20 temperature sensor to log it in the monitor system I already have. But I could not get its value. I connect the DS18b20 with 4.7k pull up resistor to the pin 16th on the board, which is I guess is IO-4 [PH20] pin. What I have tried? - I have tried this: http://www.linuxx.eu/2014/09/banana-pi-temperature-sensor-ds18b20.html Step I did: Convert the /boot/script.bin to bananapi.fex, then add [w1_para] gpio = 4 to the end of file, save and convert it back to /boot/script.bin. Reboot. Problem: No w1 dir found in the /sys/bus (expecting it will show w1 dir b…

As per the title, I am using the 5.05 Jessie Server image on a OrangePi PC. Every time I shut it down (shutdown -h now) when I power it back up I get errors reading the SD card and it wont boot. I have tried 3 cards, all with the same issue, I can reboot the device with issue and a fsck is clean after every reboot. I do not have a linux machine to scan the card after a power off, so can't check it after it fails. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I have an Armbian image that uses the DTB for the Banana Pi R1 aka Lamobo R1 device. That same image boots fine also on a Banana Pi M1 device, but still needs the DTB be switched to the M1 device. On the online help page https://docs.armbian.com/known_issues/cubox/ it is written that one can do such a DTB-switching with the armbian-config tool: "use armbian-config to select proper DTB for your board (armbian-config -> system -> DTB)" BUT: there is no "system" entry in my version of armbian-config: Armbian 5.31 stable Debian 8.11 configuration utility, http://www.armbian.com And the login message says: Welcome to ARM…

Hi. For some days I was working to compile a customized live distro based on Armbian and live-boot for my BananaPi M2+ board. Finally, it is ready to use. It boots from the builtin emmc flash and is completely readonly. It uses overlayfs together with squashfs. It also uses zram as swap to enhance memory capacity. A nice effect is that the sd/flash image becomes only 400mb, since it is squashed.. I would share the image and the details of making it, if somebody is interested, send me a message...

Hi guys. I've just spent yet another two hours trying to find an answer to my webcam problem and there does not seem to be an answer from what I can discern. Hello again, since I use the NAND-Flash to boot and I want to use the new kernel, which doesnt support NAND yet, I'm curious if its possible to use both: 1. Can I boot the new kernel from NAND? Since the new kernel is started after uboot, it should be possible? 2. Afterwards I have no possibility to update the kernel again. Or do I have? (Without SD-Card) a.) the nand-tools requires the nand-driver??? Or is there a possibility to writea prebuild image to nand without kernel-nand-support? b.) is it possible to start an old kernel from the new for upgrading? Tried "kexec uImage", but it doesnt work. Maybe I need the zImage instead of uImage? best regards

Greetz // Pozdrav vsem uporabnikom vsezmagovalcev! I am planning to use my Cubietruck for a general-purpose desktop computer to surf the internet, write documents, watch movies (youtube, VLC, lan/dlna), etc. Basically I'd like to install a lightweight desktop image on it and connect it to my SmartTV in the living room via a short HDMI cable. I'll probably need video acceleration for a 1080p resolution. Thing is I'm currently in a bit of a dilemma because there are so many premade images out there, and most of them seem outdated. Can you recommend me which image to use for my goal (possibly a LTS release)? I've been leaning towards Lubuntu, but I see debian has som…

Hi all, I was just wondering if you had experience with the performance on the H3 allwinner CPU performance based on the cpu temperature ? I'm trying to tweak my fan to only cool down the CPU once it gets close to peak cpu temperature levels, before performance starts to degrade. According to the Allwinner H3 datasheet the maximum ambient operating temperature is 70° (see page 612) http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/H3/Allwinner_H3_Datasheet_V1.0.pdf Do you think I can let the cpu go up to 70 before cooling it down or should I start sooner (i.e 65° / 67°) to keep my pi at top performance ?

Hi I've downloaded v5.38 firmware for my Cubietruck device and replaced on an older version due to my problem with new updates. Etcher was my tool for writing image on SD card and i have cleared SD card before writing new image. When new image installed and device booted up, but WiFi is not working and WiFi module is neither listed in lsmodule output nor module list file. It seems that WiFi driver is not installed or WiFi hardware is not detected. Is there any way to fix this issue? @Igor

i make this post to ask why my orange pi zero reaches easy 85 degrees with a heatsink applied to it. It is placed in a big case. Maybe the temperature reading is wrong? i check temperature with " armbianmonitor -m and i get: Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU 09:28:26: 480MHz 0.55 28% 4% 23% 0% 0% 0% 86°C 09:28:31: 240MHz 0.51 28% 4% 23% 0% 0% 0% 86°C 09:28:36: 480MHz 0.54 28% 4% 23% 0% 0% 0% 86°C what can i do? I'm actually using the orange pi zero as a flight tracker, which is a very cpu and Wi-Fi intensive task, but i think that 86 degrees are too much!!

I need to attach some devices via spi and i2c to an orange pi zero but would like to keep it in its original case. Just soldering a few wires to the gpio pins and drilling a hole in the case isn't really an option. I am looking for a nice and clean way. Browsing through AliExpress looking for connectors has not revealed any suitable options so far. I already thought about adding an 2.54mm 2x26 Pin Male Double Row Right Angle Pin Header and cut a suitable hole to the case but I guess it would protrude too much. Which connector do you recommend? It should have at least 4 contacts. Has anyone modified the case and added some small connectors? Photos? Lookin…

Hi! I thought, I might save some energy by using a Sinovoip Banana Pi M2+EDU (it is like the M2+ but no WiFi and no display (EDIT: I mean 8 GB EMMC) and 512MiB DRAM) instead of an Atom N270. Here at armbian.com/download I only found "legacy" 3.4 images, which work nicely... I wonder, if it is a good idea to stick somelhing into public internet with a 3.4 kernel... So I tried to install lhe latest archlinuxarm kernel tar ball with a git clone of u-boot (using Sinovoip_BPI_M2_plus_defconfig) and it boots nicely, but: 1. There is no eth0 (so it is much safer from the public inet, than I like) and 2. there is no cpufreq (so it gets quite warm and i can't eve…

The device gets unbearably hot as soon as it gets turned on, after ~30 seconds the Ethernet ports start to flash and the red light flashes for ~.5 of a second. I'm assuming it's toast, right?

My Orange Pi Zero (rev 1.4) has a SPI flash module soldered to the underside. I can see the devices /dev/spidev0.0 and /dev/spidev1.0, and I can write to them and read from them (with dd), but the data I read from them is always just null bytes. Obviously then I can't create a filesystem on them. Is it possible to create a small filesystem on the SPI flash to add files? If not, how is it possible to store data on the SPI flash? I'm running Armbian 5.30 with kernel 3.4.113-sun8i.

I'm trying to load Armbian on my NanoPi R1, but it doesn't boot. I've been able to boot it successfully with https://www.friendlyarm.com/ official image, and also various (unsupported) DietPi images. I tried Armbian_21.02.3_Nanopi-r1_focal_current_5.10.21.img.xz using Balena Etcher to copy it to the SDCard on a Macbook laptop. Instead of seeing the uboot startup, the terminal remains completely empty. No idea where to start on debugging this. Please help! Thanks!

Hi Forum, My CT with "Armbian_5.14_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.6.2" image doesn't shut down. Neither short push of power button nor shutdown -P (issued as root) doesn't really power off the board. The red LED is lightning and the display is ON, it halts after reporting "Reached Target Shutdown". The board is OK, for a long push of PB it powers off and with a Cubieez image it shuts down well. Has anyone seen this issue? What to do with it? Thanks, T

Hi there, I am a new user of OPi PC+, downloaded, flashed Armbian_5.20_Orangepipcplus_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.img basic setup OK, got IP, changed passwords etc, GUI starts. As I don't have USB keyboard/mouse, I've opened SSH session, then set export DISPLAY=laptop2:0 , then xterm. OK. From BT side it also looks ok: adapter blinks, I can find my BT keyboard/mouse using hcitool scan Now the problem: if I launch bluetooth-applet / bluetooth-assistant it CRASHES (assistant) at step of PAIRING device. (applet still alive). So my quiestion is, how to pair this remote device without "assistant", and make it available as "normal" keyboard/mouse? [device …

From Zadors reply to I learned there is a Video Engine for Video, Mali for 3d and a Display Engine for 2d. I used an old version of armbian on OPi PC (h3disp had no 4k option) . Moving desktop windows was very fast. In current desktop release legacy 3.4.113 moving large windows is very slow. So I guess Display Engine is not working correctly. How can I determine if it works? Mainline version gives me no display at all. Thanks.

Hello, I am using OPi Zero with Armbian. From computer (Win or Ubuntu) or from other device with Android I am sending data to OPiZero device via LAN (many MBs/s). Now I would like to use for the same data communication via Opi's USB-OTG (because LAN has high latency). I read about g_serial and g_ether. Hello and hi everyone. So I've got a Cubietruck with the NAND replaced by TSD eMMC. The TSD behaves like an SD card, and previously tested to run OK using Cubieez-TSD. However, I need to run Node.JS on the Truck, and the Cubieez Debian Wheezy Node.JS support stops at v6 (now we're at NodeJS v8). Ubuntu Xenial will still have NodeJS v8 support, so it's good excuse to change to a new OS. I'm using this image to successfully flash my SD card: Armbian_5.31_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. Recently I wanted to give another try to a NanoPi NEO Plus2 but I noticed that it is marked as not supported and there is no Armbian Bionic image for it (the links in https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo-plus2/ return 404). The only minor issue that I could find so far is that htop will show 0 Mhz for all cores. I have report…

Hello, I've been trying to use DNSCrypt on ARMBian Debian on OrangePi Zero. I'm following this guide (exact revision link for future reference), and it was working great on Raspbian in Raspberry Pi, When I try the same guide, it compiles, installs successfully, runs the daemon, however it doesn't actually work, saying "connection timed out; no servers could be reached". When I'm not using daemon, and run manually, this time it says "Unable to bind (TCP)". But when I compile and use in Ubuntu, it works nicely. This is my GitHub issue on DNSCrypt repository, including all my tests and inputs: https://github.com/jedisct1/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/561 …

Hi! The jessy vanilla image works fine, but when I boot the Olinuxino Micro with a SATA HDD connected, I don't have ethernet/ssh access anymore. Even reboot _without_ the HDD doesn't work, I need to restore the content of /boot with an SD-card-reader to make it work again. Sorry, I am (yet) not really into sunxi/uboot/kernel topics, so maybe there's a simple explanation to this behaviour?

Greetings, I recently purchased an Orange Pi Zero for the purpose of Pi-Hole. I have been running Pi-Hole on a Raspberry Pi-1 under Jessie and the stability was great. I never had to worry about it. However, with Orange Pi Zero, running Armbian/Jessie as well, I get a maximum of 2 days of up-time. This is a standard armbian/jessie installation with only pi-hole installed. Since there is no video output (I did not purchase the extension board), I had to perform a power-off/on. Without ruling out the possibility of hardware fault (SD card or USB power supply), does anyone have stability problem of Armbian/Jessie on Orange Pi Zero? …

Good afternoon. I don't know how to solve a small problem. There is Orange Pi Lite. It runs its own program. The program uses spi-dev and display. You need to compile drivers for the network card. And then a problem arose. I cannot install linux-headers-current-sunxi on a working distribution (the latest one available on the website Armbian_23.02.2 5.15.93 ). And if you set “Community maintained”, then it is impossible to enable spi-dev and the display (Arbian-Config is missing in the repository) How to solve this problem?

Hi, I am using the Armbian NanoPiDuo image and I have enable sound through armbian-config. It work well except for a small issue. When a file is sent to play, it misses out on about .5 seconds of the first part of audio. So if I run speaker-test -t wav, instead of the sound playing "front left" it just play the work left, the continues playing "front left" correctly. If I stop speaker test and run again straight away it work as planned. If I wait a few seconds the original problem occurs. To my basic knowlege, it seems like it is initialising the sound out. Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any settings I can adjust to …

I have two Orange PI +2E machines. The first one I got was a while ago so it's running a 3.4.113 kernel (16.04), the more recent one I purchased is running 4.19.13 kernel (18.04) - both are Ubuntu Armbian. I've noticed when I use the "shutdown now" command on the older pi, the board actually powers off but when I use the same command on the newer kernel board, it never powers down. The newer board appears to stop all services and eventually report that the system is halted but it remains in that state. Is there a way to enable it to power off after a "shutdown now" is issued? I'm wondering if this is a kernel difference but it may be something else completely. …

Hi Guys, I installed armbian on an SD Card and the installed it to the eMMC. Which all worked fine. After a bit of tinkering, it would no longer boot (no ssh access) and when I insert the original sd card now it wont boot from that either. I think I read that the it won't boot from the sd card if there is a valid boot record on the eMMC, so what can I do now? Thanks

Dears, We have 4 boards Nanopi Neo2, but when we connect to energy, they don't boot, leds of net port (green and yellow ones) and internal led (red) are on all time. We tried to access via serial port (using an usb-serial adapter), but they not show any boot process. We tried some different boot images on sd card. Nothing works. All four devices are in this situation (and they are new!). There is any thing we can do?

Hi guys! I have some trouble with my Lime 2. My original setup: Armbian 5.38 +4.14.18-sunxi software installed: Pihole V3.0 with dnsmasq dhcp enabled. SD : a fresh Samsung Micro SDHC 32GB EVO power-supply : a 5V power-supply adaptor Current behaviour: After [1~4] days the my board disapear of my network. With dnsmasq dhcp server disabled, there are no problème. My guess: their are some troubles between the dhcp and Armbian. Indeed in tried to setup a isc-dhcp-server to remplace the Pihole dhcp without success. (Same behaviour) You could see my search on Pihole forum here …

I installed the image https://dl.armbian.com/orangepizero2w/Bookworm_current_minimal on my Orange Pi Zero 2W board. But when I tied to check sound from the headphone interface on the expansion board I have a problem: user@orangepizero2w:~$ aplay -l aplay: device_list:274: no soundcards found... There is no chance to turn it on even through DTB overlay in armbian-config because there is no sound card in there. How to make sound work in this board with Armbian?

I’m running ARMBIAN 5.38 stable on a Banana Pro and having the board go unresponsive regularly – meaning I can't login via SSH (getting a "port 22: Host is down" error) and applications stop running. I’ve used the Banana Pro board with an external 4TB harddrive via eSATA as a media/backup server with a similar software set up for several years (running regular updates). Occasionally it would go non-responsive, but I’d generally be able to run it for weeks without a restart. The need for a restart became more frequent until now it won't run for more than 12 hours without trying to log in via ssh and seeing “port 22: Host is down” and the programs like plex and …
