I've booted up with latest version of Armbian (Armbian_5.10_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.112) with a connected SSD. I dont' see it in fdisk -l and if I go with dmesg | grep -i sata I get [ 1.265800] ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 mmio [mem 0x01c18000-0x01c18fff] port 0x100 irq 88 [ 1.610672] ata1: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) The cable that were inside the cubieboard package has two different power cables, one red/black and another yellow/black, and if I'm not wrong the first should go into 5v Sata connector and the yellow one …

Hello, I used my cubieboard A10 to make a torrentserver with armbian. I use armbian jessie with vanilla kernel. The rootfs is on a 16gb sandisk sd-card, the download folder is on a sata ssd. I connect through ssh. When I start up the box everything runs as it should, but after approx. 5 minutes the connection drops with the cubieboard. Transmission stops and the ssh-server stops. When I then reboot, the torrents are gone and I have to reload them. the data on the ssd is still there. I tried already to limit the download speed to 2Mb/s but still the same. What can be the problem? I had a tl wr703n as a torrent box for a long time without a problem. The…

Hi guys, I know cubieboard A10 is already out of support, nevertheless I was able to make the right image work for it with a cubiescreen. Armbian gave me a way to make my own image without so much problems. The only issue I am having right now is that my touchscreen stops working after a while with errors like this: msg ft5x_i2c_rxdata i2c read error: -121 ***CTP***ft5x_read_data:893 read_data i2c_rxdata failed: -121 bus is busy, status = f9 Retrying transmission 2 I asume that my kernel patch for this touchscreen is not longer working. I have found that some guys manage to make it work under kernel version 3.4.79. So I tried to c…

Hi folks Im facing with strange behavior of my cubie a20 Im booting it from sdcard since mainline armbian not support emmc (as far i know), but it boot from sdcard only when FEL button is pressed. Without FEL pressed it boot into android from emmc. In documentation i read if sdcard is present cubieboard tries boot from it which is legit. This behavior sucks when power loss occurs. My home-made router with some other stuff is offline and all other is offline. I expect to always boot from sdcard or emmc if i flash it with latest armbian. Please help if you can

I bought a Cubieboard AIO A20 Einstein and wanted to install Armbian. Is there an image I can use to get access to this board? I tried a few images following the install with sd card with no success. I have gone back and forth burning images, reformatting the drive, test and trying again. I'm a newbie but I have completed several installs on other machines just not one like this. I'm outside my comfort zone but keep on trying. I can install to msata and boot from that and there are boot settings in the Cubie desktop. Knowing what image to use (if any for Cubieboard AIO A20 Einstein) moving forward would be helpful. Any other tips, suggestions, how to's, and successes wou…

Hello. Some facts: 1. Boot with image based on legacy kernel cause shutdown after some (less than 10) seconds after power on. 2. Boot with image based on vanilla kernel always ok. 3. If i try to boot without SD card, than power off Cubie with button, then insert SD and switch on with button - it will boot OK with lagacy kernel! Which logs can help to find the problem? I ought to use legacy kernel - i need internal soundcard and both USB. And I see that it is not my own problem - http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1593-armbian-cubieboard1a10-desktop-with-legacy-kernel-wont-boot-just-shuts-off-cubieboard/- i think we can help to find the bug.

Hi there, i just wanted to report my experience with Igor Pecovnik's debian 4.1.2 image - especially since he says that I2C is untested with Kernel 4.0 and above. I have a PCTV DVB-C/T2 USB Stick (Triplestick 292e) and could make it work with my Cubietruck. I had to use Igor's compile script from the project website in my ubuntu virtual machine on Windows 7 to get the kernel sources and compile the kernel with the required options (the offered SD-Card image lacks support for I2C Multiplexing). To use this stick, you have to compile the kernel with I2C Multiplexing built in, and build the i2c mux modules for the chipset (I compiled all i2c_mux drivers as modules si…

Hi, is this the right place to ask about support to configure a dtb overlay? Previously I my configuration was done in a fex file and also created a pcb to connect the display to the cubietruck. See german documentation https://klautesblog.blogspot.com/2015/12/ili9341-22-tft-display-am-cubietruck.html?m=1 It worked perfectly but now I’m facing some issues with the new system. Armbian: Armbian 21.08.1 Focal Kernel …

I know that the ILI9341 lcd are supported natively by armbian... But, now that i have received the lcd ordered some time ago: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311058563993 I'm trying to guess how i'm supposed to wire it to the cubietruck headers. Which are the pin numbers originally assigned to work with this lcd? Which are the correct options to load fbtft? I have digged around a little bit, but i can't find any working example.

Hi, I successfully installed owncloud on the Cubietruck. Because of owncloud, I decided to give jessie a try, since there are more packages I need already included. Got all that working. Now, I wanted to make the Cubietruck into a wireless AP following the instructions in the FAQ on Igor's blog. However, i am getting nowhere. After boot, hostapd seems to be running: ps -elf | grep hostapd 1 S root 677 1 0 80 0 - 1040 poll_s 18:25 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/hostapd -B -P /run/hostapd.pid /etc/hostapd.conf However, the SSID is not picked up by any client, so it seems as if it is not braodcast. However, it is not hidden either, since I cannot …

Hi, I installed the latest cubietruck image with kernel 3.4 and xfce4 like described in the FAQ. Everything works fine so far, except that the screen goes black after 30 minutes of inactivity or so and doesn't come back by pressing a key or moving mouse. It seems like a screen suspend or so and the monitor doesn't get any signal. I haven't installed any powermanager and Cubietruck is still running and everything is accessable via ssh, even x11. After reboot screen is working again till theres the above described inactivity. /var/log/syslog has only this message I don't understand: localhost rsyslogd-2007: action 'action 17' suspended, next retry is Tue Aug 18 12:…

Just a quick question due to having just updated and rebooted my Cubietruck.... I was running 5.38 mainline Stretch, but I see that armbian-firmware 5.45 was installed over 5.38... so shouldn't the welcome screen now be saying "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.45" instead of "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38" still? Or is that package not the one that determines the Armbian 'version'? Maybe a better question would be what would update /etc/armbian-release ? The update process was otherwise smooth and doesn't seem to have rise to any nasty surprises . I also look forward to trying out the pineH64 image since I see that has just made a big jump, as well as th…

I am using my cubietruck now since may 2014, everythings ok. Hi, I would like to replace my Raspberry Pi 3 with an external USB where I have Gentoo Linux system to Cubietruck with Debian mainkernel in a SATA 2.5" HDD. I have some noob questions: - I want to boot from SD card and system on SATA configuration. Can I make boot partition on SD card only-read? I want to avoid SD card filesystem corruption because of my bad experience with RPi. - Is enough powerful to run Nextcloud? Just for two users. - Is enough a 2A / 5V USB powersource (connect to Jack power connector)?

Hi, I'm trying to get Bluetooth working on a Cubietruck running 6.6 kernels including the latest Armbian release. What I'm finding is that a Cubietruck can discover other Cubietrucks but nothing else. Other devices (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Nvidia, Rockpi, and various phones) can discover each other but not the Cubietrucks. I have three Cubietrucks here and testing with the old 4.99 Bluetooth software or the current 5.55 release shows no difference. But if I run a Cubietruck with the ancient 3.4 kernel it can detect other devices but not the Cubietrucks running the 6.6 kernels. I'm using the same Wi-Fi firmware and BT .hcd file in all cases. So it's like the Cubietru…

Dear All, I have used Igors Debian Wheezy Image for a long time and now and found nothing to complain about. Just for the case I tried to create a backup of my sd card and created an image using dd if=/dev/sdX of=/backup.img And now the "unforseen" happened and I needed to create a new sd card. When copying the image back with dd if=/backup.img of=/dev/sdX I will get a newly created image but I am not able to boot anymore using this card. And it is getting even worse. When interrupting the boot process and issuing the relevant boot commands (run loadkernel; run setargs; bootm 0x48000000) in uBoot directly the system is running perfectly whereas the unattended boot wi…

Hello. I have my cubietruck (cubieboard 3) configured to boot from sd card, and other files stored on hdd (sata). Few weeks ago (~15.06.2017) I updated armbian by "apt-get dist-upgrade". It worked well until I switch power off. Now it can't boot from sd card. If I remove it - boot from nand is ok. Whet sd card installed - no activity on display, just blinkin LAN port. If I boot from nand, I cat mount both SD and HDD and explore filesystem. But I can't find any logs, updated since 17.06 (time then I switch it off). My guess problem is new kernel, from 4.11.4 to 4.11.5. Please help me fix this, I can take files and content from SD and HDD, but I don…

Hi, I wrote Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.img to sd-card and booted my cubietruck from the card. ssh in and user creation followed by reboot (rootfs resize) After that i performed apt get update&upgrade and started nand-sata-install. I have SSD hooked to CubieTruck and my goal is boot system from onboard memory (with 3.4-kernel nand is available but not with 4.9...) and roots to /dev/sda1. This was how previous setup was. sd-card slot is broken, I need to use tape to keep card on the reader, another reason why boot from nand would be nice. After a while beeing idle the monitor goes black as it should, but the cubie doesn't wake up on mouse or keyboard entry. The only thing working is a reboot. Also I'd like to know, how I can deactivate the Micro-USB port. If I remember it right, this is responsable for the low volume high pitch noise. Thanks for all your responses. kauppi

Hey, after making sure that all packages are current (armbianmobitor upload available at http://sprunge.us/Migh)I still have the problem currently that my three cubietruicks freeze after working 1-3 days. Mostly they are still ping-able, but no "heartbeat led blinking" happens anymore and SSH connect also not possible. The logs simply say nothing. Is there anything knows with uboot 5.23 in case ob unstability? The last uboot I remember that was quite stable was 5.20 ... Can I simply downgrade to that using sudo apt-get install linux-u-boot-cubietruck-next=5.20 or such? Thanks for an advice... Ingo Fischer

Hi! I just installed Armbian Jessie on my Cubietruck to replace the outdated CubianX-distro. Title: Armbian 4.81 Cubietruck Debian jessie dev (unofficial) Kernel: Linux 2016.01-rc3 Build date: 28.12.2015 I use the Cubietruck as an owncloud-server and as a tvheadend-server. Tvheadend doesn't work properly. There seems to be a hardware-issue with the DVB-S2-receivers. One of them fails sometimes. Tvheadend often stopped. But now i found one (the?) reason in the syslog: lowmemorykiller Feb 4 08:29:04 localhost kernel: [11909.498000] lowmemorykiller: Killing 'tvheadend' (622), adj 0, Feb 4 08:29:04 localhost ke…

Hi, I've been getting a journal file full of this kind of entry lately, which is using up all my memory until I get an error "no space left on device". I have two Cubietrucks, this is only occurring on one of them, both running mainline kernel and both up to date. The one causing problems has a 2.5" hdd mounted via the sata connector. Hi All, I used armbian for a few month and it works pretty good for me. Everything start going bad since I update it with RAID 1.1 board. Current system: Cubietruck + RAID board + Armbian (actual Ubuntu Xenial next) The issue is that board do not want to accept HDDs without reformatting them in a first row, ok, I made a full backup and after new installation from SD to the RAID just restore it --> It does not boot up even if I change fstab and armbianenv.txt in a boot section. I change /boot/armbianenv.txt (or how it called) parameter UUID to SD card back and could boot again, but system is on SD card. I perform…

Hi Igor, while playing with your Armbian and kernel to squeeze even more juice from my cubietruck, i would ask you if you think it would be possible to add to your kernel and u-boot build the support for KVM. Here one experiment with KVM: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/kvm-working-on-the-cubietruck/ Then, partially related with this, it would be nice to have the watchdog enabled to fight the occasional low level hang that happens sometimes (all freezed with 4 led on).

Hi, my old 1366x768 VGA LCD monitor was working with legacy kernel but after I downloaded and installed image with new kernel ( Ubuntu_xenial_next.7z) I could not get it to work with VGA output. When I set armbianEnv.txt with below, it still outputs to HDMI disp_mode=1366x768p60 video_mode=sunxi:1366x768-24@60,monitor=vga,hdp=0,edid=1 then I tried to add this with no luck. Both monitors go blank with it. extraagrs=disp.screen0_output_type=4 Is VGA supported with new kernel? If so, how ?
