  1. I there i use the update my orange pi zero to latest version 04/05/17 and no simply dosen´t boot anymore! any thing i can do?

  2. Started by seandepagnier,

I notice there is a 16mb spi flash on the bottom of my orange pi zero. I read it is possible to boot off it. Has anyone done it, and is it useful? Is it possible to run without the sd card? I am interested in locking the sdcard to read only for reliability during power loss, and storing application configuration data to the spi flash if possible. Can it be mounted with a filesystem, or is it better to use a ramdisk and store it periodically to flash?

I'm working on a Duo project that needs SPI and this is how I configured and tested it without the mini shield. Requirements: NanoPi Duo with test Armbian image 1 female to female jumper wire Enable SPI on boot: sudo nano /boot/armbianEnv.txt Add spi-spidev to overlays= Add line param_spidev_spi_bus=1 sudo reboot If everything worked you should have /dev/spidev1.0. Check with ls /dev/spi*. Now we can test with a C program: cd wget http://www.raspibo.org/renzo/spidev_test.c gcc -o spidev_test spidev_test.c sudo ./spidev_test -D /dev/spidev1.0 spi device: /dev/spidev1.0 spi mode: 0 bits per word: 8 max speed: 500…

  4. Hello guys, do you know what might cause this error, it seems my "smart home" controller is not booting up anymore. In the last 2 weeks it happent again to not display any webpage while accessing it by IP, also the SSH was not working, all leds ware blinking like usually are, like there was normal activity, but it didn't respond to any request, only the ping was working, anything else was not (apache, samba, ssh). I turned it off by long-pressing the power button, it booted up, showing this warning "warning bad CRC - using default enviroment" and it passed by, showing the armbian logo and a blinking cursor, but that's it, nothing more. 5. Hi folks, A few months back, I set up an Orange Pi Prime on Armbian Bionic (Armbian_5.52.180715_Orangepiprime_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_4.18.0-rc4.7z). I'm now putting together a home automation workshop around this configuration, but it looks like it's now missing from the website (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-prime/) and download site (https://dl.armbian.com/orangepiprime/). Is Bionic no longer supported for this board, or was this an oversight? Is there something I can do to help?

I did a scan on the 4 buses (Olinuxino Micro A20) and found a device on i2c-1 instead of i2c-0, changed my settings and all worked again, so I guess one of the updates must…

  7. Hello, I had a telecommunication technician logged onto my router + later that night a power outage. Now my pi (not sure before or after or related to anything), now the lights go on the pi (both + the one on the network), I can see it on the router with an IP but that is it. I can't logon to it on that IP with Putty nor can I ping it from the console on the PC. I tried now 3-4 of the builds (older ones, one official one and so on) with the flash card, but always the same. I don't have an USB to TTL converter to try that route. Is there anything else I can do? There is no way to do a hard reset, right?

Hello, I've been working with my Banana Pro since years with Bananian. Last days I formatted the SD and installed Armbian (debian), to be used in headless mode. Installation and system setup worked as expected, I modified eth0 setup for static IP and it went fine after reboot. A strange problem appeared when I installed transmission-daemon, minidlna and samba packages. All working fine before reboot, but thereafter any network interface is disappeared, network-manager can't execute fine, remains running for several seconds then something crashes. If I configure eth0 manually network works, so no hardware problem. I'm sure the board work…

  12. Hello, I am using the Armbian 22.08.2 Jammy with Linux 5.15.69-sunxi. When I issue "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav" or "speaker-test -t wav" playback misses a few seconds from the beginning of the audio file. If I restart it immediately, I can hear the file playing correctly. Then I wait for a while, run it and the problem reappears. I read on this forum that people have had the same problem for years without finding a solution. Is there a solution or does anyone wise know what the problem is?

  16. Dear all, we need some help from Banana Pi M2 (not that important), Cubox-i/UDOO and ODROID XU4 users. Please look through this Github issue and also have look how we currently handle IRQ redistribution on various board families (example 1 and example 2) Since irqbalanced on ARM is broken (and if it would work it's often counterproductive) assigning IRQs statically to specific CPU cores increases overall system performance slightly for free. We do this for A20 boards for years (dual core --> sending Ethernet to second CPU core), extended this on H3 boards a few months ago (quad core and somewhat complicated due to the count of different boards exposing diff…

  20. I installed Armbian xenial 3.4.112 on an Orange Pi PC in July of 2016. It ran non-stop until sometime in February. I realized it was no longer sending data to the internet. When I checked, the Orange Pi PC was still powered. However, the green+yellow ethernet LEDs were both blinking together at what looked like 2sec intervals. After only a short time of running, the CPU was already 84C. When I originally had put the Orange Pi PC into service, it would remain close to 43C. I connected a monitor and keyboard. It booted and a look at syslog showed the eth0 was looping on `DHCPDISCOVER`. I tried `ifconfig etho down` and `ifconfi…

I'm trying to tweak my fan to only cool down the CPU once it gets close to peak cpu temperature levels, before performance starts to degrade. The armbian can't start if gps connected to the uart port and vice versa - It starts with unpluged gps. After system is started up, I do connect the gps and can easily get the gps data from /dev/ttyS0 As I understand - it's happened because of ttyS0 can be using as keyboard, so bootload is interrupting. Hey there So I was planning on using the OPZero on a robot that I had already made, which took use of SPIdev, and it was doing calls to the spidev driver in C. Now I noticed that the OPZero has 2 SPI channels, one for the NOR flash (Which isnt populated) on the back and another that goes to the GPIO headers on the device. Now I ran my script, and turns out that /dev/spidev0.0 is actually writing SPI commands to the rear SPI channel. This is apparenly SPI0 according to the schematics. Now following the schematics again, I want to access SPI1, which currently does not exist as a spidev file. I tried "modprobe spidev" to bring up the extra interface, but sadl…

Hi, I have a OrangePi+ 2E running ARMBIAN 5.33 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.5-sunxi The system is installed and runs well from EMMC, but now that I have it set up more or less as I want it, I tried to boot from sdcard to do a emmc backup as here I tried first plugging the original SD that was nand-installed to emmc, but the system would only boot to emmc, su did a fresh install of armbian next to a new sd card, but the system will still only boot from emmc. Any ideas? BR.

  96. I am trying to setup a 5ghz access point on D-Link DWA-171(according to wikidevi, it's 8811au) + NanoPI NEO PLUS2. I use the testing armbian image with latest update. The hostapd can enable the 802.11a 5ghz AP mode with ht_enabled (but it says this chip doesn't support 802.11ac) I can see the SSID shows in the phone. If I try to connect it, it will fail and says the station is out of range. When the phone is trying to connect this AP, hostapd doesn't output any connection log even in debug mode. Also, although I set the channel to 40, the WIFI analyzer on the phone shows it is using 38. dmesg Spoiler …

  97. This has been replaced by: User Space IO get more details on this thread. Well, it's time to say goodbye to sysfs and hello to libgpiod! @zador.blood.stained pointed me in the right direction, but you need to do one little hack I'll explain below involving compiler_types.h. I tested this on a NanoPi Duo, but it should work on any mainline Armbian release (and other distros as well) as long as the kernel is >= 4.8. Try ls /dev/gpiochip* and see if anything is listed. If so, then proceed. I'm continuing work on my Github site https://github.com/sgjava/libgpiod-extra, so please report any issues there. There is an Armbian install script t…

  98. Hello, After I run apt-get update and upgrade, I lose the sound card: aplay -l aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found... If I check my upgrade history, I can see the following: cat /var/log/apt/history.log Start-Date: 2018-03-16 22:33:12 Commandline: apt-get upgrade Upgrade: libgssapi-krb5-2:armhf (1.12.1+dfsg-19+deb8u2, 1.12.1+dfsg-19+deb8u4), tzdata:armhf (2017b-0+deb8u1, 2018c-0+deb8u1), ncurses-term:armhf (5.9+20140913-1, 5.9+20140913-1+deb8u2), libkrb5-3:armhf (1.12.1+dfsg-19+deb8u2, 1.12.1+dfsg-19+deb8u4), libk5crypto3:armhf (1.12.1+dfsg-19+deb8u2, 1.12.1+dfsg-19+deb8u4), linux-image-next-sunxi:armhf (5.34, 5.…

  99. Started by udif,

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Udi

  100. Hi, I have flashed Armbian_5.35_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img - and it works fine with my Orange Pi Lite v.1.1 But if I flash Armbian_5.38_Orangepilite_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.img which is aslo supported, the device does not boot. At least I get no output on HDMI, and no serial console over OTG. So I cannot check if it does not boot at all, or dies somewhere in the middle How can I check why it does not boot?
