  2. Hello, I use armbian latest version on a Orange Pi Zero (256Mb) to send data from usb to network. I use Ser2net for this to stream data from a rflink device. To test I use a Metrix bench power supply, so i think power is ok. If I reboot the device with usb plugged the boot fail, so i have to boot without usb plugged and then plug usb and restart ser2net daemon to make it work. I think boot is searching for usb device, is it possible to disable this ? Next the board crash every 2 or 3 days, network stop responding and soc heatsink goes hot. I restart the device and it's good for 2 or 3 days, and crash... If it help armb…

  4. Hi everyone ! I'm starting this new dedicated thread because I've got some new headache about this issue that we tried to figured out since months... I've received my PineH64 last week, and with this board I don't faced the reboot hang behaviour ! Today, since I've committed the OPi3 WIP scripts, and facing same reboot hang, I've decided to to try booting PineH64 image on this OPi3 board, but unfortunately reboot hang still occurs ... This brings me to a conclusion that it is not a software issue, but maybe hardware one ... I will dig on that during next few days by comparing PMIC and other between all those boards ... …

  9. Hello, First of all thanks for the very nice dist, it's clean and optimized. Unfortunately the Banana Pi is unbootable after having done the following: Migrate the root fs to my USB drive and make it bootable with the nand-sata-install script Change the hostname (modify /etc/hosts, modify /etc/hostname, run /etc/init.d/hostname.sh, reboot) run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, reboot Each time the Banana Pi could not boot anymore, and that happened with both Jessie and Wheezie images. I can't get any screenshots of the boot screen because it's a headless server. Any ideas? mk16

Hi there, while trying to solve the issue with OPi PC and rtl8188 (thread link) I managed to get console on the UART interface, nice feature considering my networking issues, btw is there a way to output the kernel messages (dmesg like) to the UART console in real time? I'm asking cos the issue that I'm trying to fix involves system freeze + automatic reboot and I would like to see the logs during the event. I already tried to mess with printk, but it's very likely I've done something wrong.

The HDMI output / Display work fine if I have HDMI connected to the HDMI port of BPi and monitor/tv is turned on before Armbian booting process starts. However if I don't have HDMI connected before boot process or Monitor/Tv is not turned on then I don't see the display if I connects the HDMI or turned on Monitor later. It is a problem for me because when I want to connect to display to already booted OS. Does anyone faced this behavior? Please advise.

I see a number of messages on the console at boot, including 'Stopped User Manager for user ID 1000' and then removing 'slice' for this user. The system is operating fine, just not the UI. So, how do I get autologin and desktop back (other than a new install)? What might have caused …

  48. Hi, I just started to fiddle around with my Cubietruck (since I exchanged it with a Banana Pi for productive stuff). I had to realize that /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ is missing and that cpufreq-info outputs "no or unknown cpufreq driver is active on this CPU" correctly. Anyone else seeing this behaviour? Cpufreq support should be back with 4.0? Based on a sysbench run ("sysbench --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=5000 run --num-threads=2" -- takes 58 seconds) I would suppose it's running not even at 960 MHz (since 960 should finish in less than 54 seconds). I did some iperf tests (not that promising, just 600/650 Mbits/sec) and iozone with my usual test…

I am running /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/nand-sata-install.sh script to copy the sdcard for Nand where the script performs the entire procedure to format nand , copy, etc. and at the end asks Off the device and remove the SDCard. However when starting Cubietruck without SDCard , it will not start ! As if I had not copied the sdcard contents to NAND. Interestingly More is not of any error in the procedure performed. Someone already has this problem ? Would you help me?

Hi, on my BananaPI I installed this image: Armbian_5.10_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_4.5.2_desktop.raw I followed these instructions: https://searchathing.com/?p=250 to move / to SATA (or USB) and crypt it with LUKS. After all, cat /proc/cpuinfo says, there is only 1 CPU-core. How can I activate the 2nd core? Thanks for your help

Hi All, @tkaiser mentions in this thread http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1193-orange-pi-plus-2e-now-available/ the lima-memtester utility, requesting tests for the Orange Pi Plus 2E. Unfortunately I do not have a Orange Pi Plus 2E, I have however just received 10x Orange Pi Lite's and 2x Orange Pi PC+'s. Would it be useful to the project if I run this utility on all / some of my devices? Assuming yes and noting the comment: Do I need to run a desktop image with the HDMI plugged into a monitor? Also do I need provide some extra information to uniquely identify each board or will this happen automatically? Dave.

  55. I just ordered a couple of Orange Pi Zero systems to use in small IoT projects. Reading the forum I see the wireless for Orange Pi Zero might have issues. But some of the posts wanted to use it as an AP. That's not my case, I'll test them when they get here, but just how bad is it? I will not have a heavy load, but I would like something stable. When push comes to shove should I plan on using an Ethernet cable rather than the wifi?

  60. Hi. I've been using my Cubietruck for some time now without any issues. It is not directly connected to the outside world and is only used for some home automation. It boots via SD -> the SSD and has an internal battery as UPS. Really happy with it. Last year I migrated from Wheezy to Jessi so now I am at: ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.109-sunxi I still receive the updates via ap-get update && upgrade, however should I be updating major like kernel? As this thing is used for home automation I am not looking forward to large down times. ;-) tnx for your honest responses.

  77. Hi, my current project is about using a NanoPI M1 as a controller for a 3D printer. As such, one wants to have very tight timing on the GPIO output, with as little jitter as possible, to get smooth motion of the stepper motors. However, it is common belief that getting a fast timing with little jitter is virtually impossible to do under linux, without the help of a dedicated chip just for the IO. While that is true in general on stock kernels, it's possible to vastly improve on that front by spending a little effort. One way on ARM chips is to use the FIQ. That is an interrupt that has the highest priority, which can interrupt all other, regular interrupts. Ho…

I downloaded and installed Armbian, set it up, everything works great, but the only problem is video playing. I tried to run multiple videos and multiple formats (.mkv, .mp4) but the player remains black. If I go on youtube, the video plays but it's very laggy (like 10fps). What should I do ? Thank you ! Guess here is my answer, too: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1129-h265/

  97. Hello Everybody, Iḿ using a Cubietruck (Cubieboard3) I ve tried to install the Jessie Server and the Xenial Server with the vanilla Kernel. Both effords failed. The bootprocess from SD Card starts, but it dosen t come to an end. The following things happen: In the beginning there is a short warning regarding mmc. After that the bootprocess starts, but then the message "Running /script/local-block..done" appers many times. Then there is another error message and the process starts from the beginning. Details in the picture. I don t think that the SD Card or the Cubieboard is the problem, because the Jessie Server with the legacy kernel and the old cubian are…

  98. I was testing the orangepi PC+ armbian build 5.20 (Armbian_5.20_Orangepipcplus_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop) when messing with it it seemed to have random reboots. I thought initially it was because it was lacking a heatsink or fan. So I added both and the issue persisted. Thinking maybe if I flashed to emmc it might resolve the issue it froze in emmc install and is effectively softbricked from what I can tell sadly. I also tested a second OPIPC+ but was unable to get it to boot. I tested with multiple new power cables as well.

Hello there. I am using ubuntu Xenial server on Banana pi. It has mysql, nginx, websites, and many programs and settings. I use it as a banana pi router. I used to use it as a server until now but now I got an hdmi to vga converter. Now I want to use Xfce. I installed xubuntu-desktop from the terminal. But the Xserver does not start because the GPU is not active. How do I activate the GPU without reinstalling? xorg err [ 14896.672] X.Org X Server 1.18.4 Release Date: 2016-07-19 [ 14896.673] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 14896.673] Build Operating System: Linux 4.2.0-42-generic armv7l Ubuntu [ 14896.673] Current Operating System: Linux server2 4.8.4-sunxi #6 SMP …

  100. Hi all, During a first installation, wireless worked with both ralink or rtl8192cu usb dongle. Though connection was unstable (ralink) or sometimes even freezing the system (rtl812cu), I could at least see the surrounding ssids and most of the times connect. Following a problem which bricked the opipc (my kid unplugged the board while I was playing with kernel), I reinstalled from scratch. And pouf ! None of my dongles work. Leds won't turn on, no wlanx in ifconfig, no ssids in network manager tray icon... however (tested only with rtl8192cu dongle), lsusb and lsmod seem fine (i can see rtl892cu in lsmod). The only difference I can think off between first and …
