Hello! I run Armbian (just updated to version 21) from an 128GByte heavy duty SD card. I am just trying to setup searx (https://github.com/searx/searx) which is using Docker containers. One of the Docker containers won't start, throwing an error message: I searched for long, trying to find some possible solution for this issue. The most fitting seemd to be, where someone said: Yes, it's for another OS and hardware, but I found no other possible solution. So disabling apparmor through a kernel parameter, is what I am trying to achieve. I addded 'apparmor=0' to the bootenv, using armbian-config. I al…

In case that somebody need such thing: Armbian legacy stable installed on SD card. Moved to emmc with sudo nand-sata-install. I become sytem which boots from emmc, despite inserted sd card. Also, added it to fstab to …

Hi, I am new with OrangePi plus 2E which I bought after I have great fun with several Raspberrys. In first moment I was very disappointed with software and documentation, than I found Armbian. Well, on all of my boards and computers I run Ubuntu, so I choose Armbian Ubuntu desktop edition. With legacy kernel everything runs good, but I prefer mainline kernel, and there I run into the problem. I have no video output on HDMI. I tried nightly build of Armbian and updated legacy desktop edition. Same result, no video over HDMI. Googling about this gives me lot of confusing results so I decide to ask here. Is video over HDMI on OrangePi …

Hi, Just installed Armbian (5.14) on SD card and tried in my OrangePi plus. It doesn't start to boot - it does nothing. I can boot by initiating boot from the system console. I've upgraded to 5.16 but still doesn't boot. Also where do I get gpio? I notice /boot/boot.cmd uses gpio but it doesn't exist. Thanks

Running on Virtualbox-compiled Armbian_5.32_Orangepiplus_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.5.img. I installed docker and am trying to run a pihole container. Because it's a new image, it tries to download it. Hello everybody! There was a problem, my OrangePI R1 with the Armbian Stretch OS running works in the access point + bridge mode (hostapd & bridge-utils), and when the client downloads a large file from the network, the RTWHALXT process loads the CPU by 100% and rtw_xmit_thread by 20% (watched using top) as a result, the processor freezes. Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi This is the thing I have installed... I'm trying to use the serial ports out of the GPIO header, nominally pins 8 and 10 which depending on what you read maybe ttyS1 or ttyS3. Out of the box whatever they are they're not available. After much googling, I've seen stuff about FEX and DTS none of which mean much to me, I'm guessing Bionic doesn't use FEX as there's no sign of .FEX or .BIN files in the /boot directory. The default state seems to pump garbage out the tx line whatever its doing. Minicom promises to talk to any ttyS? I give it, but theres no answer on loopback, And that's all I have. …

I use OrangePi R1 with connected RS485-TTL module to UART1 (PG6, PG7). RS485 communicates with a heatpump. Heatpump transmits data to RS485 module and I read and decode the data with a program and make some ACK replies. Everything worked fine for a month till OrangePi Power Adapter died. I have replaced Power Adapter and my program now stopped working. I have already spent couple days debugging. Replaced the cable from the heatpump to RS485-TTL module. Tried to see what is happening on the RS485 line with oscilloscope. Start of the diagram always looks good, but the end is skewed and corrupt. It seems like RS485 tries to send data while it receives and ce…

Since there isn't an Orange Pi Three forum I am going to post it here. Due to python requirements for PiKVM I installed the latest Jammy build. When i did the install everything looked like it worked but I could not get the remote keyboard and mouse to work with the OTG port. I tried changing the dtb but it didn't work. Comments in the kvmd-armbian discord channel recommended trying a different kernel. After trial and error I found OTG worked with kernel 6.10.9-edge-sunxi64 and remote keyboard and mouse functioned. With the default 6.6 kernel the ethernet port didn't work, but wireless worked. I was also able to get my mt7921u USB wireless adapter to work. In 6.10.9 the …

Hello After a couple of years, I took my "ancient" OrangePi board and found it working well with Ubuntu 18.04 (kernel 3.14.113). And I even did distr update to 20.04. So HW is ok. I found that Armibian support status of OrangiPi is changed to "Supported" and decided to try the latest image with modern kernel "Armbian_21.02.1_Bananapi_focal_current_5.10.12_desktop.img.xz" (shared image between OrangePi and BananaPi). XFCE desktop was loaded but USB was not working. And that was the known mismatch between OrangePi and BananaPi HW conguration. So I updated "/boot/armbianEnv.txt" with "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-orangepi.dtb". But after that video became OFF…

I'm going to use MIPI DSI LCD with OrangePi Win. In default configuration MIPI DSI is disabled. I activated Samsung DSI panel in kernel configurator. But it seems it always compiles default configuration. I don't see mipi dsi in dmesg. And image size is always exactly same, doesn't matter make I change in configurator or not. So my question how to compile whole image with MIPI DSI support? Thank in advance!

So trying to run some GPIO interrupts using wiringpi. Using the wiringPiISR function and setting and interrupt handler seems to work, but as soon as the first interrupt happens, the handler gets stuck in some sort of loop and just get infinitely called. Pretty sure this is some bug in sys, since the wiringPiISR function just uses sys gpio calls to do the interrupts. Could be wrong and just be an issue with how wiringPi does it. Either way has anyone come across this and know of a workaround to fix this?

Hi, I have probably trivial question related to GPIO on Orange Pi Zero. So - I have a switch there connected ot 3.3V and then to GPIO (pin 12 on Zero). What I want to do is just to read GPIO state. When button pressed it goes to high state - normally. On RaspberryPi and Odroid C1 that works fine just using basic code with wiringpi2 or eventually wiringpi. So I tried the same on Zero compiling wiring for H3/H2. My code is basic in Python: import time import wiringpi import pyA20 as GPIO cykl = 1 wiringpi.wiringPiSetupGpio #or wiringPiSetup() wiringpi.pinMode(1,0) while cykl == 1 : do_call = wiringpi.digitalRead(1) if do_call: print 'pressed' time.s…

I am having some difficulty producing audio on an orangepi zero using the images listed here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero/ No matter what I do, I cannot get any audio devices to show up in /proc/asound/cards There are a number of posts on here that suggest that audio doesn't work on version 4.x kernels. Is this still the case? And if so, where can I download an armbian image that does support audio?

I'm running "Armbian_5.34.171121_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14.img" on an OrangePi Zero 2+ H5. Lots of testing was done with the OS installed on and running from the SDCard. I've solved the board's overheating problems by installing a 30 x 30 x 7 mm Heatsink, plus a 50mm USB Powered Centrifugal Blower Fan. At long last the board runs happily at temperatures typically up to about 40 degrees C at light to medium CPU loads, and at around 65 degrees C when the CPU is pushed to 100% utilisation. With this cooling solution, the board has been reliably running PiHole for about two months now. The 50mm fan and the big heat sink are not a very …

Hello! I could find quite a bit of information about the analog video output for OrangePi Zero 2W on Armbian under Ubuntu. On Android TV-OUT works. Are there any plans to add this feature to Armbian? It is very critical for me. If no one plans to do this now, then I would be extremely grateful for advice from experts on how to port / modify existing drivers, perhaps take something from the AndroidTV 12 code, where the video output works? I am a developer, but I have not previously dealt with driver development for Linux, but if I understand in which direction to act, then using ChatGPT sooner or later I should be able to cope. I would be very grateful for any he…

Hey, I was wondering if anyone came across the board layout files. If eagle cad files were available that would be great! I'm assuming that they dont exist.. Or has someone designed a hat or shield for the OPi0? I want to design one and was hoping someone else beat me to it. If not i'll just have to measure it out and make it. I dont want to reinvent the wheel so that would be cool Thanks

I am running ubuntu xenial (legacy version) on my orangepi zero 256Mb version and using it as a web server with light torrenting. This is my first SBC so I am not sure if this is normal? Can anyone tell me if these temperature readings are notmal or do i need heatsink to cool down my system? Thanks in advance.

With just the default installation and no extra installed, I get the following: root@orangepizero:/home/sysadmin# armbianmonitor -m Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c] Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU 11:53:58: 912MHz 0.00 1% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 67°C^C root@orangepizero:/home/sysadmin# armbianmonitor -m Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c] Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU 12:00:13: 91…

Hi, I just acquired a couple of OrangePi zero's with the H2+ SoC and 512MB Ram. I tried to install the latest images for both Debian and Ubuntu burning then to microUSB with the regular dd command. The flash USB was a 32GB ebay cheap microUSB generic unbranded. I could not succeed at all in installing any distro, I even tried all the distros on the orangePi website. My strategy is to run the OPi headless, only connected to the ethernet cable, so no display at all. The symptons were always the same once powered (with a 1.2Amp phone charger) the OPi would start the blinking ethernet leds, on my router there was a new IP on the Lan but th…

I am experimenting with a cheap ILI9341 screen and mi OrangePi Zero LTS https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832431328471.html I found these recent instructions to be able to display graphics here: https://ryjelsum.me/homelab/xpt2046-ili9341-opi-zero/ with a reference to a previous experience (without mentioning success) https://hackaday.io/project/190371-g-edm/log/217902-first-success-with-armbian-nanopi-and-ili9341-touch and independently, I found these instructions and experiences here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Allwinner_overlays/ https://forum.armbian.com/topic/27457-connecting-banana-pi-m2-zero-with-ili9341-disp…

I want to drive 2 SPI devices on my orangepi zero. I enabled `spi-spidev` and `spi-add-cs1` overlays and set `param_spidev_spi_bus` to 1. But by I still get only `/dev/spi1.0` available. When I add `param_spidev_spi_cs=1`, I get `/dev/spi1.1` but `/dev/spi1.0` disappears. Do I see it correctly that I can choose *either* `/dev/spi1.0` *or* `/dev/spi1.1` but not both with that overlay? How can I activate both cs pins? There are a bunch of example custom files out there, but none are meant specifically for the setup where I need spi1 (instead of spi0) and need to use a GPIO pin for cs1. And I can't really find any docs on how to write my own overlay. So any help is appr…

Hi, I think I'm right in saying that this board once had standard support? I noticed it is now community support and the download page lists that there might be Wi-Fi issues. I have this link for previous builds: https://armbian.hosthatch.com/archive/orangepizero/archive/ Is there a way of knowing when standard support stopped and community support started etc? Thanks!

Hello. During the Italian pandemic lockdown I am building a mini cluster with some boards that I have found in my house. I have three OrangePi and one Nanopi Fire3. I assembled them in a box and I connected them via ethernet. I connected the monitor on a OrangePi One plus. The keyboard and mouse are on a blouetooth usb key. I would like to have all Armbian (for the reasons that you all know!). I installed all SD with Armbian Images. Every SBC has the text file with fixed ip parameters. All the network files (etc/network/interface) are well written and in the local network all Armbians are pinging each other ones. I reach them via SSH and they talk with the one that has th…

Hello all, The board has a 2MB NOR FLASH chip what would be enough for storing u-boot and booting the system over network. Unfortunately u-boot says there is no ethernet. Is there anybody who knows how to enable ethernet on this or similar board like OPi PC2 or Nanopi NEO2? Is it just a matter of configuration or is RTL8211E as PHY generally not supported on H5 chips? Thank you very much for your help. --DieHackbeere

Hi, now that I have Docker up and running, I am facing new problems. After some time, the Zero stops working. I am connected with ssh, and the console is stuck. The port 22 seems to be still opened for nmap, but I can't open a new ssh session anymore. I was trying to monitor it with armbianmonitor -m, and I saw the processor throttling with the temperature rising. Up to 62°C, it stays at 1200MHz, then it goes down to 960MHz, and I saw it once at 480 around 72°C. As I thought that my problems were linked to the heat, I then used a fan and the temperatures stayed at max around 63°C and the CPU at 1200MHz. But the problem still happens. Af…

Hi, I've been using Armbian for three years on some work's project and this is the first time I see this issue. Basically I have an image of the operative system and all the programs and scripts already saved in it, so when I have to prepare a new SD card I just use the command "dd" and then I modify some registry stuff specific for the object I'm creating. It has always worked without problem, but now we bought a new batch of SD cards and I'm facing this issue: the dd command goes succesfully and if I mount the partitions after it has finished I can see all my data, but when I boot the system sometimes I get some errors. Here is the last part of the…

orange pi one H3 idles somewhat warm in part due to a power regulator that switches only between 1.1 and 1.3 v. orange pi pc could idle at pretty low temperatures (closer to room without a heat sink due to a better power regulator as well), and the h3 runs rather hot say > 70deg C when under loads the trouble is the SOC die is 14x14mm, and if one wants to use a large heat sink, it wouldn't fit and you would need to use the copper shim method, to provide some clearance to fit a large heat sink that is troublesome and hence , i made do and made an attempt to try out *small* heat sinks, e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-Computer-Cooler-Rad…

OrangePiPc has an embedded microphone, but for some reason it doesn't work. When I run arecord, I get an input/output error. Any ideas? Here is a board description: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepiwiki/index.php/Orange_Pi_PC arecord -l card 0: Codec [H3 Audio Codec], device 0: CDC PCM Codec-0 [CDC PCM Codec-0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 root@orangepipc:~# aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Codec [H3 Audio Codec], device 0: CDC PCM Cod…

Hi Martin and others I started a new Thread because have problems using some third party interfaces with OrangePI running Armbian. Well.. In my project I need to communicate with 5 sensors which have UART output so I decided to buy a circuit (uart2spi) which work well if connected to Arduino. The Circuit description is available here: http://www.rowlandtechnology.com/projects/2015/09/25/spi-to-4-x-uart-bridge-multiuart-project/ First step: This is how I have connected the circuit to GPIO bus on my OrangePi pc.. The circuit has (from left to right) +3.3V pin, MISO, MOSI, SCK (clock), CS and GND.. I have connected…
