Hello everybody. I'm new to this and I would like to install Linux on my BTV X p212 TV box. I saw that there are several versions of systems but I couldn't find them for this specific one and I would like to know if you can help me? Please. Ps: I searched here on the forum, google but I couldn't find it.

I want to install linux on rkm mk12 tv box because its pretty much useless with its ancient android and i want to use it as a server mainly alongside my raspberry pis, now i tried to do some research but guides and forum posts are very few and outdated so can anybody help me and tell me what steps do i need to do to install linux on this tv box? I just bought hk1box with S905x3 chip, 4G RAM and 64G EMMC. It's a great box running android 9.0 smoothly. It has TTL pads so it can be used to check system boot up log. I've tried to run armbian on it. The good news is that the latest version of balbes150 - Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0.img can boot up successfully. The bad news is that the screen is green. I've learned from forum that the issue is caused by Amlogic‘s modification of u-boot and need to have u-boot.ext to solve the problem. Can someone please help me install Linux on my Ninkbox? I have tried various S905X3 images I can find on the net and burned to an SD card but cannot get any of them to boot. I need explicit instructions and a working image for my Ninkbox N8 plus. The image that seemingly works with my unit has a dead link from all the resources on the web so I cannot find this image to download. If anyone can help me and point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I am particularly interested in running any distro with a good package manger like Debian / Ubuntu.

Hello everyone! I am running Armbian in a BTV11 box (Amlogic S905X3) alongside the "meson-sm1-sei610.dtb". My cabled ethernet connection is working fine but not WIFI. No networks are found. I have already tried alternatives like meson-sm1-sei610-ethfix.dtb, that leads to my ethernet to also stop working. At first the Kernel was looking for `brcmfmac4330-sdio.seirobotics,sei610.bin` firmware, that doesnt exist in Armbian. So I made a symlink pointing to a generic `brcmfmac4330-sdio.bin`. Hi, I am currently using MagicBox M16S to flash Armbian. However, I did try to use VIM2 Armbian img to flash into my magicbox but it wont worked. Currently it seem like my device is bricked ( try to flash original ROM from some china website but it stuck at 1% and fail). Do anyone have idea on this device? Thanks~

Hi, I'm new to this forum but I've been researching this topic for quite some time. I have a Mecool KM1 Deluxe with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and an Amlogic S905X3 chip. I wanted to install Armbian to use it as a Linux device, but I've tried several versions and it hasn't worked. Someone mentioned on this forum that installing CoreELEC would prevent Armbian from booting. I installed emuelec and it worked perfectly, but I haven't been able to run Armbian. Hi everyone, I'm new in this forum. I'm trying to boot armbian on a Mecool KM1 tv box. It's an armlogic S905X3 with 4GB ram,, 32Gb storage. Cant find a viable uboot and dtb combination for it as the usb flashdrive or microSD card simply won't boot. I can, however, run coreelec with no issues. Does anybody had any success with this box? HI, I have another post about Mini MXIII-II (if you have it, please start reading this post: My next step, as @SteeMan said me in that post, is to check "all" things in the SD card before installing armbian to the emmc. I have detected problems with audio and bluetooth. HDMI, WIFI, USB, LAN seems to work. If you will check anything more, please, tell me, thanks. My question is about... I think that hardware is defined in the DTB file, so ... could I check one by one "all" dtb files? (I mean only ones that have S905X in their names). does it make sense? I was dumb enough to try and update uboot on this little box and then it got sort of bricked. When connected using serial I could see it loop trying to boot from EMMC so I tried the reset button recovery to no avail. Shorting the EMMC pins works putting the device in recovery mode but the usb burn tool is stuck on formatting at 7% after it seems to sucesfull removed (and maybe flashed) uboot but the serial connection still shows it looping on EMMC. So I tried the next thing, shorting EMMC while connected using serial and I could the looping change to include sd and usb. So I made a sd recovery card using the burn card tool and it can boot from it, I can see ub…

I have no problem installing Manjaro , emuelec , or ALT Linux. I was trying to get a buster distro working , or figure out how how to set up the SMB.conf , I'm trying to use it as a Samba share for the Playstation 2 an OPL I can't seem to get the SMB up an running at all though. The latest releases of armbian 23.01 with kernel 6.1 do not run from SD cards on the HK1 box S903x5. If I use USB flash, armbian starts. At the same time, old releases of armbian with kernel 5.9 from balbes150 run from SD cards - but the image with a green background. If you rename U-boot.usb to -boot.ext on the old release 20.10, then USB flash starts and the screen color is normal. Renamed u-boot-s905x2-s922.bin in u-boot.ext - does not help. Hello, I have an old TV Box model MX-III-4K with S802 CPU and I booted into Armbian from an USB stick. I found an older Armbian version (and dtb) that works on this box and I have network and everything, so I'm happy with it, except that I would like to add also NAND support. Anyone can advise me how can I do that? Basically I would like to be able to access its internal NAND, to read it/write into it. So if next year or whatever, if i want to go to my first day after the installation, I could go quickly. What will be the best way to create a "rescure image usb" ? Hi, I would like to know if its possible to boot from SD card in my model of Android TV BOX. It does not have a reset button but has an update app. Its a Giga TV Box HD890 4K. It has an Amlogic CPU I do all the process of installing Armbian in the SD card, Android starts an update and it says: "Map file is too short". I really dont know what I have to do to enable multi boot. Installation is aborted. Im getting really upset for not being able to install Armbian. Any help to this issue would be really welcome. @balbes150The original topic. I just use Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_buster_current_5.9.0.img.xz and find out that I cannot boot from USB anymore after installing the Armbian into EMMC. My device is phicomm-n1, and my steps were: 1. Edit /extlinux/extlinux.conf 2. Rename u-boot-s905x-s912 to u-boot.ext 3. ./install-aml.sh Now the EMMC is at the highest priority. However, the USB was always the highest when using previously published images such as Armbian_20.06.0_Arm-64_buster_current_5.7.2_20200619.img.xz What could I do to make it boot from USB first? My MXQ TV box died today, I was running Armbian stretch, and I had been listening to Mplayer playing Mp3s for several hours as background music, when the player stopped because it ran through the list, I went to change directories, but there were none found( I was running off the SSD), so I tried the root directory, also no files found. First it looked, that it loads (the minix logo disappeared for some 100ms) which indicates that it loads, but then at the end the internal android booted. For comparison "LibreELEC-AMLGX.aarch64-13.0-nightly-20250926-2f25ce3-box.img.gz" booted fine, even from the sdcard slot. I coundt find the "BACKUP&RESTORE" app, because of that, I cant load the aml_autoscript.zip file. I trie to load another firmware to the tvbox, but all the firmware that I find, dont work. Hi, I have these 3 Android TV boxes, chipset : Amlogic S905D Quad core ARM Cortex-A53 Amlogic S905-B, Quad core Cortex A53 Amlogic S905 Quad Core Which of these boxes can have Armbian installed on it, specifically onto the internal eMMC memory? I am willing to use even older versions of modified armbian that can be installed on the emmc without upgrading. Especially if it can be installed in emmc. If it is not possible to install it in the internal emmc memory, how can I at least use the internal emmc memory for data (Boot from SD card, use internal memory for data) ?

This does not have the recovery button in AV slot so i am accessing the android recovery boot through adb from my pc. But the "apply update from sd card" doesnt have any files. I can see the folder structure on the sd-card but i dont have any file to choose. I am using this build: Armbian_23.5.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.30.img. I use the x96 air 2g_100m (s905x3) version. I used Armbian for amlogic(bulls_eye, xfce) boxes as specified in the tutorial here. I tried with many dtbs, (it even had one named x96 air) all of the didn't work. So I tried the u-boot.ext file from this Manjaro for Arm tutorial. (The link for the archive). This combined with 'meson-sm1-x96-air.dtb' file worked great and I was able to boot from SD card without any hiccups. And for the first time, the onboard wifi was working flawlessly. Hello everyone, I have three Amlogic S905x TV boxes with a dead EMMC, and one with a desoldered EMMC (since I thought without it, they would boot from the microSD card). Is there a way to force them to boot into Armbian? Holding the power button doesn't work, and desoldering the EMMC didn't help either. I was able to boot Armbian using UART. For a beginner like me this is a difficult box to install Armbian on. Before attempting the installation I had managed to install Armbian on a NexBox A95X (S905), and a M8S (S812). I want to share my experience with others because even though every box is different, what I did to install Armbian may give other users ideas on what to try on their own boxes. Downloaded the official version Armbian Imager. Created a bootable USB drive. Edited the file extlinux.conf for the TV box. I tried to install it, but nothing happens (I pressed the button inside the mini-jack; the USB indicator flashes five times, and Android boots up). I recently pick up an TX9 Pro Android box and want install Linux desktop to it. I have tried a few guides and images with no luck. I'm able to either load the image and gets stuck loading Ethernet or loading the kernel or will not reset at all with the tooth pick method. I was wondering what I'm doing wrong. Hello, My pet labubu and I got the most recent onecloud/odroid c1 versions fully working on my horrid former Oriental TV box, the TVPad 4 (previously brought up by user @daniyo). Everything works perfectly, except I want to finish my building by installing to eMMC. None of the recent builds I can find come with an install.sh script, and I cannot see the eMMC (or NAND if it's NAND) in lsblk or any of the installers. Hi Guys, I was trying to install Armbian in a couple of boxes buit I had no luck. One is a SEI500W from SEI Robotics with AML 905X2 and the other is a Sagecom DIW 585 with AML 905X I followed the process and after trying to boot to recovery they start Andoid tv as normal (just takes more time). In the other hand I was able to run EMUELEC (Gaming emulator) on both devices with an image on SD so I'm assuming the problem is not a block. What do you think? Is there any ideas to try?
