Hi, please help me install Armbian. Hardware: I have an X96 TV box with 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage. Software: I'm trying to install Armbian_23.08.0_amlogic_s905x-t95_lunar_5.15.132_server_2023.09.21. I downloaded the image, wrote it to the SD card and successfully booted using the toothpick method. Booting from the SD card is successful, everything works fine. When I try to install Armbian on emmc the installation just stops. If you cancel the installation (ctrl + c), the system continues to work normally. I also tried using the image Armbian_23.08.0_amlogic_s905x-t95_lunar_6.1.52_server_2023.09.12. To install, I use…

Can someone please help me install Linux on my Ninkbox? I have tried various S905X3 images I can find on the net and burned to an SD card but cannot get any of them to boot. I need explicit instructions and a working image for my Ninkbox N8 plus. The image that seemingly works with my unit has a dead link from all the resources on the web so I cannot find this image to download. If anyone can help me and point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I am particularly interested in running any distro with a good package manger like Debian / Ubuntu.

  11. I would be immensely if anyone bright enough to help me. I have an android TV box running Android 7.1 on a S912B Mygica 1960. I have tried for days a while back to get this device to boot up with Ubunta and have given up. I opened a case about this some time ago, and have actually given up and now I am tackling it again. The issue, I have let it be via the android os - updates (which does not detect any files) or using the toothpick reset method which gives me the option to select aml_autoscript.zip. Hi, I have a H96 prop plus tv box, which I managed to install and works fine. I want to highlight the work done here, where the dtb modified to be "meson-gxm-q200-mod.dtb" which works well, except that the OS cannot be moved to eMMC. Can I check if this dtb can be the default in the device selection list (203 is the number for this device) . Currently thr default dtb is meson-gxm-octopus-planet.dtb, which does not have the wifi and bluettoth working. Also, can the mainline boot file can be dafaulted to "u-boot-s905x-x912x.bin" file? Trying to figure out how to initiate toothpick mode in order to flash a minimal iot Armbian image. I found a recovery1 button (accessed from a pinhole) but holding this while powering on, or holding the 'power' button while powering on, doesn't seem to get me anywhere. It seems that whenever I insert my 32G sdcard (maybe not supported?), something happens where the stock android does not boot after the initial MINIX splash screen, but just sits on a black screen (regardless of how I may have powered it on). Initially I thought it was doing something, so I let it run overnight.. I restarted it in the am, but when I removed the SDCard, it just booted…

  27. Hello everyone, I have three Amlogic S905x TV boxes with a dead EMMC, and one with a desoldered EMMC (since I thought without it, they would boot from the microSD card). Is there a way to force them to boot into Armbian? Holding the power button doesn't work, and desoldering the EMMC didn't help either. I was able to boot Armbian using UART. A workaround is to use Ardruino, which sends commands to boot Armbian after a while, but that's a workaround, and I'd like a more elegant solution. 1) Download the *.img.gz image for the amlogic_s905x 2) Write the image to the microSD card using Rufus. 3) Connect the UART. Everything seems to be working fine except for the wi-fi, which is expected based on what I've read on the forum. My question is very straightforward actually, and probably a dumb one but it doesn't hurt to ask. When we say wi-fi doesn't work on Amlogic CPUs, we're talking about Armbian recognizing their built-in wifi card, right? If I use something external to that it should be ab…

Hello everyone, I read a lot of threads regarding my problem but couldn't find the solution. Could someone kindly help me? I have a TVbox with S905x and Android installed, I would like to install armbian, I downloaded the ISO, renamed the u-boot file for S905x to u-boot.ext and modified the file "/extlinux/extlinux.conf" leaving only the line without comment with S905x. When I do "update" from Android it makes me choose a .zip file, copy something and then reboot. Unfortunately, however, the system restarts with Android as if nothing had happened. What am I wrong? Thank you very much.

My MXQ TV box died today, I was running Armbian stretch, and I had been listening to Mplayer playing Mp3s for several hours as background music, when the player stopped because it ran through the list, I went to change directories, but there were none found( I was running off the SSD), so I tried the root directory, also no files found. I closed the terminal window, and tried to restart, which just resulted in a boot loop. Thinking the file system was corrupt, I disconnected the SSD,and tried to boot the Android system from the internal Nand? which also resulted in similar behavior, I tried a different monitor, and removed all peripherals , Android partially booted, then…

The only DTB's files that work for me are `meson-gxl-s905w-p281.dtb` and `meson-gxl-s905w-tx3-mini.dtb`. Is there a way to validated for sure if I have 2GB of RAM? Hi, I tried to install Armbian in the recent days, but I wasnt unable because the image says "Map file error" or the update app will not read the Micro SD card (Armbian 23) I was wondering, where can I get this image of Armbian "Armbian_20.05.1_Arm-64_focal_current_5.6.2_desktop_20200408.img" ? It worked in a similar TV Box tutorial and I tought it could work in mine. Thanks for any help given This tutorial "http://www.galipe.net/guide-mecool-m8sproplus-armbian/"

  94. After trying to update using an SD card, my box powers on but does not send anything to display. I have previously tried to flash using USB 2 cable with the USB burning tool but I get a "Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initailize status/USB Control setup error" message at 2%. I have tried 3 different files to the same effect, hence why I used SD cars and I am unable to fix the box using the USB tool. I need a boot image so I can try to fix it via SD card but I cannot find one anywhere. Please does anyone have a boot image I can use or can point out where I can find one or a way of fixing this by SD image?

  95. Hello guys, it's day i'm trying everything to let my S905x TV Box run Armbian but i keep struggle at toothpick multiboot. Android recovery stays with the green android with the ! out of its tummy and hang with the "Cannot load volume /misc!" error. I opened the log and find out "failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 on /sdcard by read-only (Device or resource busy)". I downloaded the image and wrote it on a 32GB MicroSD card via Rufus, Could someone please suggest me how to proceed? Thank you, Marco

Hi! I'm new to armbian and just installed it on my KI PRO , AmLogic s905d . I've compiled my own version using the last build . Use the image to generic tvb for s905 with debian 11. to configure the boot I use the KII PRO dtb : /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf The box is running very well , however I have two issue with it. One of them is with eth0 doesn't recognize the cable connected . I saw the answer here about @mrv issue and found no solution until now. I'm not sure where I can try any other module to test my ethernet card... Generated my armbianmonitor : https://paste.armbian…

Hi, I have these 3 Android TV boxes, chipset : Amlogic S905D Quad core ARM Cortex-A53 Amlogic S905-B, Quad core Cortex A53 Amlogic S905 Quad Core Which of these boxes can have Armbian installed on it, specifically onto the internal eMMC memory? I am willing to use even older versions of modified armbian that can be installed on the emmc without upgrading. Especially if it can be installed in emmc. If it is not possible to install it in the internal emmc memory, how can I at least use the internal emmc memory for data (Boot from SD card, use internal memory for data) ?

  99. Hi there, I was a happy user of armbian balbe150's build and wanted to update to the latest one as i was on a very early kernel. I tried to push it on my box freshly factored by default usb burning tool and android img from mecool. Install SD as usual with the settings according to the first post of balbe thread (it changed with the u boot) but after installing on emmc i'm stuck at the u boot and don't know why as it was working correctly on previous builds. If i put SD back it boot right away on it. Guess it is a emmc boot number or something wrong like that. If i do lsblk i can see emmc 0 (sd) and emmc 1 (real emmc) D…

  100. Hello I have Armbian 23.11 installed to x96mini. I use it for HomeAssistant HA argues that cgroup version is incorrect and I have to switch it to version 1. There is a lot of advises about adding "systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=false" to /boot/armbianEnv.txt or /boot/cmdline.txt or /etc/default/grub on the Intrnet But I have not these files in my system. I tried to create them but no results. Does anybody help me tu change cgroup version please )
