  1. Information in this topic is very outdated see this topic.

  2. The start system in Coreelec is not compatible with LibreELECE Armbian etc. If you run coreelec on your TV box, you will no longer be able to run LE and Armbian normally until the full recovery of the standard firmware via the USB Burn Tool and the new activation of the universal multi-boot, which is used in all new systems. Questions that do not specify exact details (the exact image version, TV box model, detailed steps that were performed for DTB settings, and so on) will be ignored and deleted. For all. I don't support s905x3. I don't have this equipment. All messages about this platform deleted. What works or doesn't work from this equipment…

Hi, First I want to say thanks for this amazing project. Also English is not my native language, so please excuse me for misspell Last week I received my shiny new Beelink GT1 with Amlogic S912 CPU. And now I have a itching in my hands to break it. So I forked @150balbes repo and start messing with it. Dowloaded original firmware from here: https://mega.nz/#F!bIVGFaKY!Om3XTxlHmjPB4x2_jukFYw Extracted original device tree and kernel config (attached below) and after little tuning I was able to build a Ubuntu 16.04 CLI image (only build, not tested) I use a LibreELEC linux-amlogic repo. Is there a way to add the MXQ box to the armbian supported OS's with nand support? This is a similiar device as the S805 ODROID device and the difference is only that this device has also a nand storage on it.

  7. I opened this theme to support running ArmbianTV on 32-bit ARM models. To date, there are first results on launching ArmbianTV on the Rockchip rk3288 and AML s8xx platform (in the future, by analogy with aarch64, I plan to switch to a common image for all 32-bit models of TV boxes). Some Time ago I bought a cheap Z28 TV Box fromGearbest for 27€. I was curious about this chip after I saw a Picture of the Rock64 here on Armbian. When I first connected the Box it only comes up with 720p Resolution, far away from 4K at all. Some other things happened, Rock64 was send to Devs and Developement seems to become more and more Stable, so it tried to check Ayufans Android Image on this Box. I got me the Android Tools and flashed the Image to the box on a Windows Machine . Adroid came up without Network, (as expected) but seeing this Image Booting made me thnking of trying the a Desktop Image on this Box. The Android Image can be flashed via An…

To my surprise i found quite some activity on both Rockchip & Allwinner and makes me scratch my head If i am not mistaken Rockchip has done some work on providing drivers but .... The Amlogic boxes carry a far better price/performance ratio or am I wrong ? Other than that i took a quick look around and the alternatives for e.g. S905X3 are quite expensive or way too old to compete,,,,am I missing something ?

I'll start with mine (Q8 without front panel) which is the XT-Q8L-V10 from enybox (Chiptrip Q8 on gearbest or that other EKB328 on Aliexpress with front panel). I tried several DTBs, both gxl212 and gxl281, I also tried to modify them but I could not make the WIFI work. I saw that in the folder / lib / firmware there is a subfolder SSV6051 that contains a .bin file and a .cfg but I have no idea how to load them. 20. I found the correct method to fix the bug that the x96-max-plus(s905x3) gigabit ethernet does not work: Up to now, only HK1Box/vontar x3 is the only s905x3 TV box that can be used perfectly in armbian. So I extracted the bootloader of hk1box and wrote it into x96-max-plus, and it worked. This method is very simple, so it is recommended to everyone in need. Step 1: upload three dtbs into /boot/dtb/amlogic : meson-sm1-x96-max-plus-100m.dtb meson-sm1-x96-max-plus.dtb meson-sm1-hk1box-vontar-x3.dtb (Similar to meson-sm1-x96-max-plus.dtb, only the modal name is changed) Step 2: modify /boot/uEnv.txt, replace dtb…

  22. I am thinking of buying the Alfawise H96 Pro+ TV Box ($67.99 USD). It has 3GB Ram / 32GB internal storage (some used for Android etc.) It has an Amlogic S912 Octa Core CPU. http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_503487.html I started looking for a mini PC after a recent trip. From some destinations you have to stick all electronic devices in the hold. I'd prefer to leave my laptop at home in such a case. 30. Information for users of TV boxes on the Anlogic platform. At the beginning of the year, I already warned that support for AML will be reduced, now it's time, I completely stop supporting all TV boxes based on AML. Therefore, for those who definitely need ArmbianTV, I strongly recommend that you no longer buy models of TV boxes with Amlogic chips and switch to using supported hardware. AML support is Available exclusively for several models whose manufacturers cooperate with Armbian. In all new versions of images and the kernel, I will add various security mechanisms that will create serious problems, including hardware problems and hardware failure. Therefore, I s…

If you dont need GPIO then you are probably better off looking at TV boxes or boards intended for that market instead of an SBC. That market is starting to see PCIe and USB3 attached 4x4 wifi chips and at very cheap prices. I brought back some dirt cheap RK3399 TV box boards back from China in June with AP6255 (2T2R) chips that perform much better than expected as an AP for upto 5-6 simultaneous clients. I get approx 425Mbps with 1 client, ~295Mbps with 3 clients and ~165Mbps with 6 clients. Thats line of sight in a ring approx 3 meter radius around the AP. I also get 890Mbps on the GB port on boards that cost me about €35 each (¥27500 for 100 boards) ¥275 / …

  51. Hello @all. I Have a Nexbox A95X With 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Also it has a AP6330 Wifi Chip. What I want to achive, is to have a running Server, as a private Git-Server. I Used a Gog-Server on a Raspberry Zero W, but i wanted to see if I can get a Gitlab to run, and maybe more Server thingies like Webservers etc. I used the Premade "Armbian_20.05.0_Arm-64_buster_current_5.6.0-rc4_desktop_20200320" and got it working. I had to set in the "uEnv.txt" following DTB: # aml s9xxx FDT=/dtb/amlogic/meson-gxl-s905x-nexbox-a95x.dtb APPEND=root=LABEL=ROOTFS rootflags=data=writeback rw console=ttyAML0,115200n8 console=tty0 …

  52. Hello experts! Yet another person asking for help! (YAPAFH) I have made a purchase of a very cheap Android box with the sole intention of running Armbian on these boxes. I have purchased 3 of them. To my surprise I couldn't find the SD card slot, so opening it up I see the SD card slot is missing, but the footprint is on the board, and looks like the related components were not placed. Is there any point in trying to get Armbian working on this box? Can I load via USB? (with no SD card initially) Thank you in advance for your time! SirRedZ

A the beginning my idea was to use AMLogic box to use Octoprint and 3d party software called Klipper for my DIY 3d prinetr. Quick search in google shows that it is doable but there are old topics, posts and old images for s905 processors. At first I had started with newer images from @balbes150 like Armbian_5.98_Aml-g12_Ubuntu_bionic_default_5.3.0_desktop_20191002.img and tried to start WIFI. Like many other before me I tried modprobe wifi_dummy .. etc and nothing good happened - complete linux noob. After …

this is just a quick note that in my experience the amount of tv boxes with fake specs has grown quite a bit in the last months and that this is something to always have in mind when getting a box for a surprisingly cheap (i.e. quite a bit cheaper than usual or most of the other offerings) price - you might be lucky and it will be a bargain or you might hit one with fake specs. some examples i saw recently: a qplus 4g ram / 32g emmc ended up to be 2g ram and 16g nand, a h6 box sold as 4g ram / 32g emmc ended up as 2g ram / 16g emmc, a x96mini 2g ram / 16g emmc ended up at only 1g ram / 16g emmc, a r39 2g ram / 16g emmc with rockchip rk3229 ends up as 1g ram / 16g emmc and…

I am very happy with the small board. So I was think to buy a second one. Turn out due to global chip shortage, the price of the board jump to 27 euro. The price is not attritive for me any more. Then I watched a youtube video. I think a lot of people watch the same video. Armbian install on H6 tv Box. so I bought the 'same' Tv box. Apparently, I did not read the spec carefully. As a precaution, I thought I had make a backup using rkflashtool, but it turned out that my backup was only the first 192K repeated over and over; I've reported this as a bug. Can someone give me some advice on how to get this box on Linux because this is the only reason i bought this box. It would be running only Linux for 24/7, so installing linux on the box itself would also be an option. Thank you in advance for your ideas and suggestions.

In the body, above the radiator of the processor, a large hole is made and on the sides of the body a large hole is made for the free passage of air. On x96mini had to add a new radiator. Note need necessarily two holes, one for air intake, the second for exit. This is a very common mistake TV box manufacturers, they sometimes make only one type of holes, which is not enough for the normal operation of the cooling system. The air must pass freely through the body. The direction of air supply for TV boxes is optimal from the hole on th…

For the moment it has shown excellent stability and performance. I am attaching the results of running sbc-bench by Thomas Kaiser on this diminutive Linux box: it beats just about every other SBC except the RK3399 SBC's, and even matches or is faster than these in some cases. However the best part is that it is running a mainline up to date Linux kernel, not some heavily patched vendor kernel from a couple of years ago. Right now I am running the more extensive Phoronix Bench…

I used "Armbian_5.24_Amlogic-s905x_Debian_jessie_3.14.29_20170118.img" The only issue I have is that some of the ALSA kernel modules that are needed for MIDI support are disabled in this kernel. Specifically, SND_SEQ_OSS, and possibly one or two others. So I went ahead and installed the "linux-source" package, which matched up nicely with the existing headers. After uncompressing, I copied "cp ../linux-headers-3.14.29/Module.symvers .", then I ran 'make menuconfig', which pulled in the config from '/boot' and I proceeded to enable the pertinent module options with…

However, when I look at performance, I notice that the S905X3 has much more power than an RK3566 and is also cheaper. There are comments that development for Amlogic is stalled, but new versions continue to be released from what I can see. I only want it for setting up a Pi-hole and some Dockerized applications. Hey folks - spend my money... I have a current TV box - Beelink X2 (Allwinner H3 based) getting subscription services for IPTV from Japan via Hong Kong (long story...) - what's nice is that I have not had to do odd things with VPN, etc... Anyways - while the X2 has been a stable box, it's Android is getting old (4.4.2), and perhaps it's time to move on - actually I'm being forced to move on to some degree, as my agent not longer has ability to renew subs for HikariTV, so I'm running out of time Basic Wants: 1GB RAM - minimum 8GB eMMC - minimum 100BaseT (Gigabit is a plus) 2.4GHz 802.11n (stable) is a must, 5GHz 8…

Hello everyone, I have a TV Box (as you can see in the photo) and I want to put Linux on it. But I'm having a problem finding a compatible image. The model is from Allwinner H3. And when I go to configure it to place the image, it is starting directly on the tvBox.
