So I'm trying to modify a certain Mycroft skill (python) to be able to play local news. Here is the commit: https://github.com/marksev1/mycroft-core/commit/164c7207374131ece23a8ddf40c7a7981f3c7084 And this python script uses mpg123 to play the mp3 from the url. 1.) If I play the mp3 in the url from the terminal normally it plays every time. 2.) If I'd try to play it from that python script it only randomly plays and in the meantime i get errors regarding jack. Hello. I've received a SATA to USB 3.0 adapter from the Pine64 store. The problem is than the adapter is not fully SAT compliant, so hdparm doesn't work with it. It is described better in this post. And there's an updated firmware for the JMS578 chip which fixes this issue. However, it was made for another device (Odroid HC1), not the device I have. Is it safe to use this firmware in my adapter? Or maybe there's even more fresh firmware exists for JMS578 chips?

There is a topic in allwinner subforum about the instability of the kernel 4.14.18 on some allwinner devices. I got that stability issues on my banana pi m1, and notice that the last kernel available on armbian still the 4.14.18. Today I also run apt upgrade on raspberry pi 3 and it installed the kernel 4.14.30 that stop the ipsec vpn working, the same as in 4.14.18 used on armbian. I feel some frustration on the latest kernel updates, and wondering if anyone have some info about the next kernel update that solve this issues. Do you advise me to change to nightly builds to get a new kernel to test?

I'm kinda new here, and lets first say thank you for Armbian, it has kinda saved me from having to do a lot more work than I have had to, to get my Orange Pi 5 Plus to a state where it's really a pretty cool little test/experimental system... Perhaps it would be good to build the kernel with the modules for open source GPUs for Mesa... AMDGPU, XE, and i915.. Currently I'm in this position... I know I could clone the project from GIT, and build my own kernel, but this seems like an obvious next step and I wonder how many other people would …

Armbian does provide 'choice' today for most/many Orange boards as well as NanoPI ... tu build the image with mainline/4.9 kernel. my needs are not too complex a) Ethernet USB to drive USB DAC ... Is there anyone on a forum who has tried recent 4.9-rc or maybe even 4.8 and it worked well and if yes which boards did you use ? I am running Odroid-C2 happily with Armbian and 3.14.79 kernel but some of the very old bugs have been fixed later on (kernel bugs) and am looking for a board that might run recent kernel well (enough). Hello, I have questions related with overlay. I'm using Radxa Zero 3W and in the /boot/armbianEnv.txt it has overlay_prefix=rk35xx. I want to use this overlay /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/radxa-zero3-disabled-wireless.dtbo. If I cat /boot/boot.cmd it read the overlays with this line ${overlay_prefix}-${overlay_file}.dtbo. It means if I add overlays=disabled-wireless in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, it will not find the dtbo right? So my questions are, 1. Can I manually edit the overlay_prefix to radxa-zero3? 2. If can then will that has impact on the feature, eg kernel upgrade or anything?

Not sure exactly where to post this, or how to ask it, but here goes... In the 'olden days' of my Linux adventures, compiling one's own kernel was standard practice. Thankfully, now many years later, I have become content with the 'standard' kernels (e.g. Debian) that are available to me on my x86 computers. Now, enter the world of ARM-based computing, and the possible return of self-compiled kernels. In my specific case, I am interested in using Pi-like devices to run a GPS-based time server with the additional accuracy of PPS. From my understanding, there are two optional-but-useful changes that would be required to maximal accuracy: - turnin…

Now I only get "Starting Linux", which means that output is send to serial console not tty from what I read. I read that I'd have edit uEnv.txt in order to solve the console issue and continue debugging the issue, but I cannot find this file anywhere on the partition. I tried to revert boot.scr but this did not change anything. I probably could revert to the old kernel by changing the symlinks as well, but I would rather like to use the new kernel....

Hi forum, I want to try out KVM virtualization since I found out that Odroid HC-1 (=Odroid XU4) does in fact support hardware virtualization and should therefore have a good performance. (Is this true, has someone already done this and can confirm?) In the past I have worked with other virtualization software but this would be my first time to use kvm. Not long ago I started a server projet which works very very well and serves all my needs. The little board is so efficient indeed that I got more than 1GB of unused RAM and also a lot of unused performance. Therefore I wondered whether I could safely use the board to virtualize an enviro…
