Hello everyone, I’m a complete beginner and have very little programming knowledge. However, I decided to build a MagicMirror as a project. For this, I got a BananaPi M2 Berry and installed what I believe is an Armbian operating system on it. Then I downloaded the corresponding packages for the MagicMirror from GitHub. Everything worked so far—though it was quite challenging—and I even managed to personalize each module. But now I have two problems: I want the MagicMirror to stay in portrait mode permanently. However, after a while (about 30 minutes), the screen automatically switches back to landscape mode and opens a new window of the “Display” appli…

Hi, I have a generic brand tvbox (Nilox NXBAP210101) and I would like to compile the Ubuntu xenial version of Armbian. I tried some image of armbian for Olimex from MicroSD and start but I do not have WiFi or LAN and then I did some research on my hardware. This tvbox seems to be an i12-tvbox in fact has the following hardware components: CPU Allwinner A20 1GB Ram DDR3 (512MB x2) N2CB4G16BP-DI 4GB NAND Flash Memory H27UBG8T2BTR 10/100Mbps Ethernet ICplus IP101A 802.11b/g/n WiFi + BT4.0 Ampak AP6210 IR Receiver I would love to use this device fully and then I would like to be able to recompile the distro for my hardware. …

Hi, I've been trying to compile a c program with GCC and have been unable to move past various errors related to file functions that should be declared in fs.h I have installed (several times!) linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi, made scripts, pointed the make file to ARCH=arm (not really necessary I know) and KSRC=/usr/src/linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi/. In the fs header in /usr/src/linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi/linux/ looks correct and includes references to the functions I require (filp_open(), filp_close(), kernel_write()) but the compiler simply refuses to accept that these functions are declared. It appears to still be using the original headers in /usr/incl…

Hi there, I am using SD Card Copier on Raspbian to copy one Raspberry microsd card to another (can be smaller than original card) and it works great. But when I used it to copy armbian microsd card to another microsd card, another microsd card is unable to boot. Any idea what can be wrong? I love this approach because I am able to copy original card to smaller card but unfortunatelly Armbian OS is not able to boot (on the other hand Raspbian boots ok). When I use Win32DiskImager to copy Rasbian and Armbian, both new cards boot up successfully. Any idea please how can I use SD Card Copier installed on Raspbian to copy microsd card with…

About 6 months ago I started a music project with the Raspberry PI Zero 2W. The project is a module to generate weird and wonderful drone music/sounds (example here) Because of the fact that it's nearly impossible to got hold of the Raspberry PI Zero 2W, I want to "port" the project to an alternative and available board with the same footprint and pinout; the BPI M2 Zero would be perfect. I have quite a challenge though; See image: The exact setup below with an Raspberry PI Zero 2W (O/S: Bullseye 11) and the install procedure described here, runs absolutely fine --- but now I want this setup to run on the BPI M2 Zero (O/S: "Armbian_20.05.1_Ba…

Apologies for this noob question but I am still new to Ubunto. If a piece of software is currently available as a binary archive only and the accompanying installation advises unzipping it to "a folder" and running the software from this place I presume this is not really advisable, as would be the same in the Windows world. In which case, should I install the software in, say, /usr/share and run it from there or is it okay to just unzip it and run it out of the /home/[username]/ directory? Thanks!

I bought that DAC to my OPi - I tought it will be easier. I've configure PCM and TWI in FEX file (IIS works perfect on oscilloscope). Also I've made mods on DAC's board - Raspberry has PCM at other pins. But SPDIF still not working. I suppose, that WM8804 is in software mode, so I have to config it via IIC. My 3.4.113 Armbian doesn't have driver for that DAC. What can I do?

Hi, I have a really strange situation, which I don't understand and for so - I need help to solve it. I had 2 rockpi, one with sata hat which plays the nas role and one without sata drives, which is my frontend for home cinema (connected to AVR and beamer). Last few days I had the effect that the frontend froze and after close examination it turned out that all memory was used up. Fortunately, I already had a new rockpi with 1,4Gb memory. I thought I'd just change the eMMC and go on as before. But that was probably a big mistake. The new one did not start at all with the eMMC from the 1.2Gb rockpi. That's why I thought I had to compl…

Hello, I would like to know how they reduce the size of the images and then, when the microSD cards are inserted into a card, they expand to fill the entire space. Hi, It is very hard to start OS (community version, downloaded from here). The system doesn't start at all, if the keyboard is already attached. I've discovered some magic moment during the startup process, when I can attach keyboard and system goes further. In most of moments the boot process stops, as soon as I'm attaching the keyboard. Lines are scrolled too fast to let me note what moment is "successful". Also I've noticed that the chip is very hot, when the keyboard is attached. It's much colder when keyboard is detached. Another small issue is that functional keys don't work. Though Ctrl/Alt and other similar keys do. …

Hi there, I have searched a bit, but didn't found HOW (step by step) make my OPi4 (with Armbian installed) an BitCoin factory. Hi guys, the history before: I ordered 2x OrangePi3 and got them at 29/07/2019. The 1st one I've unpacked could not be flashed to another Operating System. Neither the images of the developer worked nor the armbian. I figured out, that the HDMI port and the SD card reader is buggy at that 1st device. Today I unpacked the 2nd OrangePI3 and armbian booted easily and rapidly into the SD card OS. I was able to flash the eMMC with armbian and I am happy, but not with the 1st one of OPI3. I hope that the manufacturer in china will exchange the buggy OPI3 for a working other one. To cut a long story short, the a…

Hey there fellow Pi enthusiasts! I am absolutely thrilled to have just gotten my hands on the Orange Pi 5, but being new to the world of Pi's and small chips, I was a bit intimidated. However, after exploring this forum, I must say that I am impressed with the amazing work you all have done with the software! I recently stumbled upon the Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome and decided to give it a shot. After successfully installing it to my SSD, updating and upgrading it, and enabling 3D acceleration with the commands provided, I thought I was good to go. But something still seems off to me - the graphics just don't seem to be as fast as I thought they woul…

Hi, Just something I have found, not sure if this is an 'issue' but it definitely caught me out and took a while to figure out and fix. I have several armbian machines (Odroid C2, BananaPi Pro) all running Jessie or Stretch and all working fine. A recent project of mine (using Armbian on a BPi Pro) was to build a Pi-Hole DNS. Some time after doing that I noticed that none of the Armbian machines would successfully run 'apt update' whilst other unix machines including a RPi running raspbian were all fine. DNS config was fine, I could see requests hit the Pi-Hole and be answered. nslookup / dig on the armbian machines all worked fine b…

Armbian makes setting up an AP incredibly easy- I'm also enjoying NetworkManager, which I've stayed away from on my desktops until I started development with OPi Zero/Armbian Buster. I'm looking for an automatic, effective way to switch between my AP and a configured wireless network. OS: Armbian_20.08.1_Rockpi-4b_focal_current_5.8.6.img.xz (Right now, I'm using the above mentioned os from sdcard and the os can detect nvme disk using 'lsblk' command) Query: How one can install '/boot' partition on eMMC (or sdcard) and '/' (root-partition) on NVME disk (attached to rockpi 4c through M.2 Extension Board) ? (aim is to boot from either eMMC or ssd and use nvme disk as / partition) Waiting for your valuable suggestions. Thanks in advance from, Spherulite.

I am resurrecting a Banana Pi M1 that i've had in the cupboard since new. I've downloaded and installed Armbian 26.2.1 build date 03.02.26 rev 5abb97453. I want to use the SOC as a photo repository for a family member so they can use PhotoSync app to transfer their photos as a home NAS. I have attached a 1Tb 2.5" hard drive and was goin to set up and SMB share but notice in Armbian Config a software package for OwnCloud which looks perfect as it can be accessed via a web browser. I have tried installing OwnCloud from Armbian Config and it installs docker but then fails downloading the Owncloud package. The error is: Unable to find image 'owncloud/server:lat…

I found the CAN device driver sources in sun7i_can.c - CAN bus controller driver for sun7i to configure the gpio pins for the special case of acting as TX and RX for CAN, the following function calls are used: sw_gpio_setcfg(GPIOA(16), 3); I try to use this code to implement the can4linux module an a BananaPi M2-Berry using Armbian stretch but are not able to find any prototype of such a function sw_gpio_setcfg(); nor the definitions of the gpio ports like GPIOA. What ist the correct way of accessing the gpio ports from within the kernel? Thanks for helping.

I've installed the latest available version for my board (Armbian_21.05.4_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.222) and upgrade the Kernel to 5.4.125 Now, I'm wondering If the watchdog was supposed to work (I do have /dev/watchdog and installed the watchdog package with apt). On H3, this can be done by editing script.bin That file has been replaced by Device Tree on H5 board, /boot/orangepi/OrangePiH5orangepi.dtb However, many have reported that editing that file can not enable RCA, see https://github.com/OrangePiLibra/OrangePi_H5SDK/issues/7 So what should I do to enable it? Is there an easy way to do it without compiling the kernel?

I'm working on a project that utilises AI, GPS, Bluetooth... and i can't decide whether i should choose OPi or RPi. I've been researching for the past couple of days and I'm amazed at what the OPi can do, it's crazy for it's price. But my concern is how little support and community there is out there, idk if it's worth the risk. So if any one worked with it can you please tell me what kind of difficulties have you faced and how similar is it to working with the raspberry?

I would like to run Armbian on my multi boot PC. i came across a video on how to install Armbian on an X86 PC. How you have to use Gnome Disk to Restore Image to your drive. Does anybody know if it would work correctly doing that on a multi boot PC? I know I would need to update Grub afterwards for it to show in the list.

armbian-config has significantly changed in Bookworm/Kernel 6.6. It looks to me that its not reflecting the actual device settings. Please refer to the attached screenshot from /boot/armbianEnv.txt. Compared to Bullseye/Kernel 6.1.92 I see an additional line "fdt_overlays, where all the dtb settings from the new armbian-config appear, fdt_overlays=sun50i-h5-analog-codec sun50i-h5-i2c1 sun50i-h5-tve sun50i-h5-uart2 sun50i-h5-usbhost0 sun50i-h5-usbhost1 sun50i-h5-usbhost2 sun50i-h5-usbhost3 but they seem to not having any effect. In 6.1.92 this line does not exist. The real dtb settings are still in the line above overlay_prefix=sun50i-h5 overlays=i2c1 uart1 usbho…

In the latest image for NanoPi M1 Plus, I enable the analog audio I/O on the card by adding overlays=analog-codec in /boot/armbianEnv.txt But the microphone on the card is disabled by default, because the ALSA control "Mic1 Playback Switch" is set to false by default on the card. Worse still, this mixer control does not appear in the alsamixer GUI, and the only way to set to true is to use the amixer command line utility, for example with: amixer cset name="Mixer Capture Switch" on on I can do this inside a first boot script, and then ALSA will persist the state between reboots. But does not seem ideal, and took me a very long time to …

I have one problem a bit hard to explain. I had a monitor with VGA, and that was working with my Orange Pi Plus 2e, but I had to change the monitor to DVI and the screen doesn't work anymore. I can't see anything. even if I try to run with my television (32'') i can see the screen when it's loading the armbian (the commands), but when it tries to open the GUI I cannot see anymore. I want to cancel the autologin to GUI to change the size to use the command line to change the screen size, but I have no idea how to do it, I didn't find anyway to do that. Anyone has any idea?

Hello everyone, I have a question. It is about SSD memory, which can be connected to the usb3 interface via a converterbox SATA 1,2,3 to the OrangePi3 device. I did not find any helpful information in the hardware recommendations inside the Arbian Forum for OrangePi3 H6 all winner (looser). Before I jump into the cold water like with my RPI 4b+, I am interested in which SATA 1,2,3 adapter to SSD to USB3 works with the OrangePi3 devices. I already know that the NVME slot and memory is not supported. And a usb3 converter with SSD additionally absorbs power. Thanks for Help

## Description After a fresh installation of Armbian for Rockchip64 (Rock 3A), the system ships with `linux-image-current-rockchip64` version **26.2.1** (kernel 6.18.8), but the corresponding `linux-headers-current-rockchip64` package for version 26.2.1 is **not available** in the public APT repositories. This prevents installation of kernel headers required for DKMS modules, out-of-tree drivers, or any kernel module compilation. ## Steps to Reproduce 1. Flash the latest Armbian image for `rock-3a` (branch: `current`) from the official download page. 2. Boot the device and connect to the network. 3. Run `apt update` with any standard mirror (e.g., `mirro…

Hi, I recently bought a 7'' 800x480 HDMI TFT LCD display. Im trying to make it work with my OrangePi Plus 2e where I have armbian xenial desktop distro. I have tried several settings on the scrip.bin file, but the screen is always white. ... screen0_output_mode = 2 screen0_output_type = 3 fb0_width = 800 fb0_height = 480 ... Its intresting that the same settings works perfectly on a Cubieboard2 A20 board. I also tried the Armbian bionic server and installed a light desktop from armbian-config and the display works! but the screen has a greenish tint. (and there is no script.bin file on a server version, so I cant compare to the xenial like…

Hi! There are Images for an old/original Lemaker "Banana Pi" up to 03/2021 in the archive, but from that time onward it seems like only "Banana Pi Pro" is supported with new images. Is it possible and save to use such "Banana Pi Pro"-image for the old Banana Pi too or should I stick to the last archived version of the "Banana Pi"-image? Datasheet looks almost identically, both with same SOC Allwinner20 and CPU CortexA7 and only the SD-slot and GPIO-pins are different, so I thought I'd try the Pro-Image, which also does install and run ok. But I have strange issues running some software (iobroker) afterwards, so I'm not sure if this migh…
