  1. Hi, New to this forum. Hope someone can please assist. I recently purchased a tiny 5" display UMPC device. See instagram/puterpi for photos. There's also YouTube video of it in action by maker too. I installed Armbian image: http://forum.banana-pi.org/t/bpi-m2-zero-new-image-2017-12-04-armbian-5-36-m2-zero-ubuntu-xenial-next-4-14-3-desktop-preview-buildbybpi/4325 Overall, works great. However, I periodically get the following error message at boot up in console and device will not boot up. Hi all, Semi-noob here so please be patient :) With the OPi Zero having rubbish WiFi I added a USB WiFi adaptor. I know it works as I've been using it on my OPi One running Retrorangepi. The Zero will be running OctoPrint in a room too far away from the router to run Ethernet cables. To initially set it up I connected the Zero to my router, logged in and disabled the onboard wireless adaptor, plugged in the USB and rebooted. Ran armbian-config and set up a static IP (192.168.1.30). Then I shutdown the Zero and unplugged the Ethernet cable and powered up the Zero again. Lan scan shows the IP address as up but ping shows 100% …

I realize the A10-OlinuXino-Lime has been EOL for Armbian for some time now; however, I am curious if kernel support for GPIO functionality is available on the latest available for Armbian Xenial (kernel 3.4). If it is a mainline kernel this may explain why the GPIOs are not available for use.

Hi all, I have a OrangePi R1 and want to enable SPI in U-Boot to talk to connected leds. The leds are connected to SPI0 on the pins: 19 (MOSI), 4 (5v) and 6 (GND) . I enabled the CONFIG_SUN4I_SPI flag to enable the sunxi SPI driver. I also added the following lines to `arch/arm/dts/sun8i-h2-plus-orangepi-zero.dts` to enable both SPI0 and SPI1. &spi0 { status = "okay"; flash@0 { compatible = "mxicy,mx25l12805d", "jedec,spi-nor"; }; }; &spi1 { status = "okay"; }; To control the leds I added a call to the following function inside the `board_init()` function inside: `/board/sunxi/board.c`. static int set_leds() { int bus …

  9. Hello, Someone up for this? I am trying my best to extend the PPS device tree overlay in order to support additional capabilities of the PPS kernel driver. In particukar, I want to have the "echo" pin working. (The echo pin is supposed to be an output that makes it possible to measure the latency between the pps pulse and the actual kernel timestamp). I have (tried my best) to modify the existing overlay as follows (the PD14 pin in the overlay is modified by the fixup script to be PA6): /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __ove…

I am digging in my orangipi board (OPi Zero H2+) again, and have come across some questions relating to device tree overlay. Eventually, aim is to activate a hardware component of my board, and I think I have the right option found. Problems are currently with compiling and applying the overlay. From the basics upwards: 1. Is there a way to know which overlay (of the many listed in /boot/dtb/*) is actually used during boot process? For example, I know I have a board with a H2+ soc, but my armbianEnv.txt says "overlay_prefix=sun8i-h3". In any case, even this prefix cannot be the full information, since in /boot/dtb/ there are overlays fo…

Will there be soon new kernels available especially, as we are now facing the Dirty pipe exploit? Thanks! regards, Udo

I have browsed the documentation and found no way, so maybe it is not supported and building the kernel is mandatory?

    I know it's uboot problem not armbian, but when I compile it with option CONFIG_BOOTDELAY=5 it still boots with 1s delay. here is my Cubieboard_defconfig CONFIG_USB_EHCI_HCD=y CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=y CONFIG_VIDEO_DE2=n CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_MODE="x:1024,y:768,depth:18,pclk_khz:100000,le:480,ri:260,up:6,lo:16,hs:320,vs:10,sync:3,vmode:0" CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_PANEL_LVDS=y CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_POWER="PH8" CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_BL_EN="PH7" CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_BL_PWM="PB2" CONFIG_USB=y CONFIG_CMD_USB=y CONFIG_USB_UHCI=y CONFIG_DM_USB=y CONFIG_USB_KEYBOARD=y CONFIG_USB_HOST=y CONFIG_DM_KEYBOARD=y CONFIG_BOOTDELAY=5

I was experiencing slow writes to internal SD card and hard drives connected to an USB 2.0 hub on multiple Odroid HC1. IOWAIT was 99.99% most of the time during large file copies. I found that Armbian was simply waiting too long to write data to disk. Kernel parameters are optimized for writing small amounts of data to SD card when running from that in order to reduce wear. If you have the same problem, you might get factor 10-100 faster writes using the following sysctl settings: vm.dirty_writeback_centisecs=50 vm.dirty_expire_centisecs=50 No need to act, if iotop shows low IOWAIT values on your system.
