Hello, I am trying to create custom USB gadget using GadgetFS on OrangePi PC. I found some example of USB user-mode driver based on GadgetFS and was able to adapt it for sunxi H3 platform. If I only change the VID and PID in this example, the device is still detected correctly in Windows (my part gets initial requests), but no data buffer is received after the detection. I see the data is sent from my PC module (using WireShark). I think the data is either locked or handled in unexpected way by sunxi_usb_udc module. How can I get detailed debug messages (using dmesg) of the sunxi module? I hope this will let me re-design my solution.

On Orange Pi One, Lite and NanoPi M1 we currently have the ability to let VDD_CPUX voltage switch between 1.1V and 1.3V. With our current settings we switch at 912MHz CPU clockspeed from 1.1V to 1.3V. The higher the clockspeed the higher VDD_CPUX (this is the voltage the CPU cores are fed with) has to be to let the SoC work reliable. But on the other hand the higher VDD_CPUX is set the hotter the SoC gets and the earlier throttling will jump in. So knowing at which clockspeed H3 still works reliable at the lowest possible VDD_CPUX voltage (in the case of the aforementioned boards only 1.1V or 1.3V are available) can help with overall performance since throttling gets m…

Currently on the latest version of armbian I am experiencing high background internet data usage. I am limited to a 50MB plan which works fine with other devices, but seems to not be enough for more than 10 days on this distro. I have tried disabling all periodic checks for updates, but I am still seeing high data usage. Any ideas on where these might be coming from? I can provide a wireshark PCAP if needed.

Hello, MTK have launced a MT7623 based SOC with the interesting BPI-R2 smart router board : http://forum.banana-pi.org/t/banana-pi-bpi-r1-bpi-r2-smart-router-board-comparison-20170612/3390 I am quite enthusiastic about the hardware build features, like network acceleration, QoS and ipsec in this SOC. Will you build an image for thet board? Regards, Serge

Hi, Igor. I am trying to compile armbian kernel for N6 Max rk3399 box, based on Armbian/Build: https://github.com/armbian/build I met the following issues: 1. The "Current" branch does not boot up the system; 2. The "Legacy" version of rk3399 for overclock patch https://github.com/armbian/build/tree/master/patch/kernel/rk3399-legacy/overclock-rk3399-to-1.5-2.0.patch cannot be integrated in the debs, and the cpu speed is always A53@1.4GHz/A72@1.8GHz; 3. The "Legacy" verion of rockchip64 are A53@1.5GHz/A72@2.2GHz, but wifi does not work; 4. The released debs on apt/armbian,com behave same; 5. Tried to play with the config files but …

Hi I think the subject I am interested in, called Kiosk OS or computer. I like to build a computer that when you turn it on, it does only execute one or some programs that I want. how can I do that? Is it a simple thing or should I spend weeks or months to learning and doing that? (I am a newbie linux user but know the C language). Very thank you in advanced!

During Assembly of images Armbian, faced with a situation where the build process creates a new\updated packages (kernel etc.). These packages are used to created images and it is desirable to update those who are already using older versions of the images. How to organize a network repository that would enable users to connect, get and install packages via regular means. For example using synaptic ? Maybe there are already rules for how it should be arranged for Armbian.

Ubuntu Server edition doesn't use the fundamentally limited Network Manager for a reason. For any kind of semi-complex networking configuration, (say VLANs, bridges, per-network firewall rules, any kind of policy based routing and so on and so on). Also, conversely on little, largely headless servers with static network configurations, Network Manager is a big, bloaty and intrusive process that adds boot time and complications. Just recently I have struggled hugely with difficult to replicate networking issues. I thought (and Network Manager reported) that NM didn't touch the interfaces specified in e/n/i. Turns out not to be the case. Is there an…

Hi all, Is there some documentation or How To on how to debug the boot process ? I posted before I am trying to bring up a AW-SOM-A20 board that gets stuck at boot. I am kind of at a loss so I figure next step is to use the kernel debugger, which I have never done on linux (I have experience with darwin/mac OS and freebsd though) Is there a build option for armbian so that the debuggable kernel image is left around in the build process ? All help appreciated, thanks Bruno

I customized my Armbian install with 2 operating systems on two partitions. In armbianEnv.txt I use rootdev to specify the default partition. Is that possible?

I have some patch files, and one of them leads to a .dts file not being compiled. I'd like to find what is wrong with the dtc compilation but I do not know what the exact command the armbian build script runs, so I can't reproduce... Is there a way to make the build totally verbose and see the command being executed ?

I’m currently using the Armbian build system to generate images for the Orange Pi 5 Plus. To use the PREEMPT_RT kernel, I set the BRANCH to current, and with the PREEMPT_RT configuration on the 6.12 kernel I was able to successfully build the image and boot it. However, in this kernel version there are no dtbo files for peripherals like can0, i2c, etc., so I’m unable to use those interfaces. If I set the BRANCH to vendor, I can use the 6.1 kernel, but in order to use a PREEMPT_RT kernel I need to apply the RT patch. The RT patch currently provided is not compatible with the current BRANCH, so kernel build and image creation fail. My question is: wh…

Hello. For the past month, I have been working on fixing, updating, and rewriting the hardware crypto patch for RK3588. I've done so much work on it that I'm considering submitting it for review to be added to mainline kernel. I needed hardware cryptographic acceleration for a small project running on my Kubernetes ARM cluster. I noticed that Armbian is still using rk35xx-montjoie-crypto-v2-rk35xx.patch, so I decided to give it a try, but unfortunately the results were quite buggy. I took a closer look at rk35xx-montjoie-crypto-v2-rk35xx.patch and discovered a fairly large number of bugs and potential improvements. I then spent the past month rewriting and updating th…

Maybe my grep-fu is not powerful or following endless includes, but I ended up changing build/cache/sources/linux-mainline/orange-pi-5.9/arch/arm/boot/dts/sunxi-h3-h5.dtsi which seems like it would change other boards. Is there a surefire way to make the changes in the proper place for the Duo? I tested the image I built and indeed this changes the dtb correctly, but will it effect orange pi, etc boards too (h3-h5 boards)? @Igor I have the changes ready to commit, but I didn't want to do something that effects multiple boards.

Hi, I managed to make w1-GPIO work in Orange Pi Zero v3 for, for example, the DS18B20 sensor. However, I have some doubts about setting the GPIO flags for w1-gpio. Many examples provide flags in the form gpios = <&pio 0 7 (GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH|GPIO_OPEN_DRAIN)>; but in the dts file when I use this form it does not work (syntax error) so I have to provide the flags in digital form. A description of flags and bits is here https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/v6.6.30/source/include/dt-bindings/gpio/gpio.h If I would like to set GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH | GPIO_OPEN_DRAIN then the digital value for…

Hello. I'm building an armbian image and want to add some partitions to the result disk. I use the post_create_partitions hook to do that. The documentation doesn't show how to use it, so I looked at the armbian's sources: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/99815c0a8880d4e04fc64742412632e1d41c1334/lib/functions/image/partitioning.sh#L206 Here they create a string and pass it to sfdisk. In my hook I do a similar row to add two partitions: echo -ne "label:dos\nsize=1G\nsize=1G\n+\n" | sfdisk -a "${SDCARD}".raw --no-reread || exit_with_error "Partition fail." But building of the image fails with message: No free sectors available. Failed to add #3 partition…

Hi. According to this patch Orange pi 5 Pro DTS (which BTW i use for my successful Orange Pi 5 Pro edge build) there will be a split of DTSI files. Most of the code in rk3588s-orangepi-5.dtsi will be transferred to new rk3588s-orangepi-5-5b.dtsi. In my current build for Orange Pi 5 and 5 Pro I have: rk3588s-orangepi-5-5b.dtsi rk3588s-orangepi-5b.dts rk3588s-orangepi-5.dts rk3588s-orangepi-5.dtsi rk3588s-orangepi-5-pro.dts. Hallo, the Armbian Debian jessie dhclient does not handle a served hostname reliable. Deleting /etc/hostname (or replacing it with an empty file) and setting the hostname option at the DHCP Server doesn't always work. In some cases the Armbian client still has its default name 'bananapim2'. http://blog.schlomo.schapiro.org/2013/11/setting-hostname-from-dhcp-in-debian.html describes the problem, a cause and a solution. I can confirm the problem with the leases file. Following step 2 works for me. It would be really fine if the unset_old_hostname file could be added to Armbian by default. Kind regards, Steve

Hi all, first post here. I have an orange pi zero and I want to develop some C++ apps on it. Was trying to follow the https://www.armbian.com/participate/ page instructions to get access to Jira, but the link just takes me to Jira and tells me that I don't have access. No option to request access on that page, just "[username] doesn't have access to Jira on armbian.atlassian.net." Does the participate page need updates? Or should I just try to work off of github issues only? Feel free to direct me to the right place if it matters, I would potentially be helping with some nanopi devices, have several r2s and r2s plus - the r2s plus needs some work i think.

Hi every devs ! (some of you know that I was on other duties those past months, mainly constructing my new house and moving in it, but I'm now back to Armbian builds those recent days after more then 6 busy months) I've noticed yesterday that USB1-DRVVBUS/PD7 was not activated any more in my recent build, although the fix-many-orangepiwin-dts.patch should take care of that and this one is successfully applied. After digging the issue, I've found out that the sunxi64-hdmi-thermal-dma-pmw-enable.patch is reverting many of those, probably unintentionally, and since this patch is applied after the first one, things are revert silently. …

Some SBCs, such as PIneA64, provide a built-in RTC on-board while others do not. For those boards that do have a built-in RTC, it appears the kernel driver is configured as a builtin rather than as a module at least in some cases (I only checked a few). This in turn brings up a question: For boards that include a built-in RTC and also have the respective kernel driver configured as a built-in, should the kernel configuration to also set the system clock from that RTC (RTC_HCTOSYS) be enabled by default? There is a dependency that the RTC be built-in as the kernel will try to read from the RTC rather early, before any loadable modules w…

Let's sum up major concerns/problems and unify/create a plan of actions. We already decided to wait with mainline H3-H5-A64 ... which means old stable/legacy kernels/a10-20-xu4 (what else?) mainline should be rebuilt and what remains goes under nightly? Images can be made one board at the time, they can be made in exactly 4 days or not. Perhaps I should emphasize "approximately" more? Or remove this date since it only creates an extra pressure? Or is it ok? This should be fun. For me, most of the time is even sometimes days are wasted and frustration or stress builds up to insane levels. We know which kernels are not done and there is nothing we…

Hi folks, I've got Igor's debian stretch server image for cubietruck running, compiled sunxi kernel 4.16.0-rc1 without power management options, but can't get USB autosuspend disabled. There are a few posts regarding this issue, but they don't resolve my issue, since in the stretch system I don't have entries for /power/level or /power/control of the usb devices, it just doesn't exist. Thus I can't fix this issue setting /power/control to 'on'. /sys/bus/usb/devices/$device/power DOES NOT EXIST /sys/bus/usb/devices/$device/power/level DOES NOT EXIST /sys/bus/usb/devices/$device/power/control DOES NOT EXIST /sys/bus/usb/devices/$device/power/autosuspend D…

I'm currently working on the meson64 family (C2, K2, Le Potato) as a family, and am trying to more or less make their GPIO behaviors similar and matching (as best I can) to the RPi they are form factor clones of. An issue I'm having right now has to do with the spidev driver, these boards don't have hardware spi where the Pi/Tinker does does, so I'm defining spi-gpio devices in the device tree. That part is fine. Where it gets interesting is setting up a spidev node under it. - Calling out a compatible = "spidev" works, enumerates, etc, but throws the typical ugly error during boot that it is wrong to do it that way. - Adding a compatible string to the…

Hi to all Armbian Devs, According to my local experience done today with newly Ayufan's 4.20.0 tag done this morning, it seems to be quite ready ... (Except for my failure to get eMMC running on RockPro64, but works well on OPi-RK3399 and NanoPC-T4) So, I'm asking you if I should commit all those stuff !!! @TonyMac32 during those builds, I see 2 patches broken, I didn't investigated, but maybe those patches are simply not relevant anymore and can be deleted : [ warn ] * [l][c] renegade-add-uhs.patch [ failed ] [ warn ] * [l][c] rk3328-add-GRF-GPIO.patch [ failed ] One my side, I need to fix some patches to…

Hi everyone, I need to ask about GPIO pins. I have Cubieboard2 with Armbian (Jessie, Legacy) and I cannot export any GPIO pin as described here http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIO#Accessing_the_GPIO_pins_through_sysfs_with_mainline_kernel, chapter " Accessing the GPIO pins through sysfs with mainline kernel". I was able to play with GPIO this way on Cubian nicely but since Cubian is more or less dead without much support I moved to Armbian. I am able to export only pins with adress 1 or 2 as these are in the script.bin. I quite suspect that I need to change script.fex from GIT, convert to script.bin and replace original one on my Cubieboard. Am I correct? And next thing is that …

I've done an experimental build of 5.0.y for my NanoPiK2. It seems that most of the current rejected patches are simply not needed anymore. The only thing I'm not sure what to do is in patch 0038-media-meson-add-v4l2-m2m-video-decoder-driver.patch. I've comment out this line since it seems that v4l2 API has changed : // .vidioc_cropcap = vdec_cropcap, If some of you are more familiar, please, give some help here. Should I proceed to the commits ?

Hi there, I have this device left over from a previous project, and now I want to repurpose it for a forked version of PiKVM that is meant for alternate SBC such as the OrangePi. I spent the last 2 days adjusting various build settings and compiling. After installing, the kvmd service would complain about the UDC driver missing. Also executing ls /sys/class/udc/ would return nothing, seemingly indicating that OTG is not possible. Just last night I came across the file "sun50i-h6-orangepi-3-lts.dts" in which there is a comment containing the following: /* * This board doesn't have a controllable VBUS even though it * does hav…

I ran compile.sh and got an error message which looked weird It couldn't find the directory .tmp/work-3efc55a6-9478-4508-91c4-5637c4b1e593 and would stop all work I created the directory and then it worked What the heck is that about? My linux x86 system is gentoo and not debian. I do have debian in vmware fusion on my mac. I use it to chroot my gentoo arm systems since it is much faster than cross compiling. We would like to thanks all of those who participated in our small contest. Great submission! It was really hard to make a cherry pick, while the winner will be chosen by the vote. Since we only need one default wallpaper and that one must be as generic and clean as possible, this choice is as follows. Few others, which might come into action, had either too small text size, strange colors or were simply too busy. We might will add more than those five wallpapers to our desktop or use them as a boot splash. Vote will be online until 16.12. 1. Hey, I compiled and installed the latest kernel (4.7.3 and uboot 2016-09) but something went wrong. I prepared new kernel based on recent H3 Allwinner code. Code was found here: https://github.com/friendlyarm/h3_lichee than it was cleaned and moved to my repository: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/linux -b sun8i On the top there are additional 100+ patches. I am still working on patches so they are not online yet, but you can try first build and compare to old kernel. Download deb package (dpkg -i linux-image-sun8i_5.07_armhf.deb) Patches regarding thermal, video mode changing and camera are missing. They need further inspection and adjustments.

Hi! I'm testing the image for cubieboard (A10 SOC) onto my MK 802 II and the legacy kernel is working fine (USB, OGT, WIFI, HDMI...) I just have changed the script.bin I'm reading some documentation about the device trees and I don't understand how you compile the vanilla kernel. Sorry if is a stupid questions but my board has his own .dts (sun4i-a10-mk802ii.dts), how you get a common vanilla kernel valid for all the configurations without using one specific .dts for each board? Probably I'm missing something very basic for ARM kernels, but this is my 1º aproach.

Hello. I have troubles with the new version from source. The main reason i compile it from source, instead of downloading pre-build images is to enable CMA in kernel config. And now i try to apply some patches like in this last post - Kodi/XBMC on Armbian with hw Accleration possible? . The version i try is CLI Armbian_5.07_Lamobo-r1_Debian_jessie_3.4.111. First there are some errors at the very beginning, then first boot is freezing at recreating SSH keys and after long time some messages for disconnecting and reconnecting USB devices appears and that's all, no reboot. I thought those patches are the problem and try without them, same condition. I have builded image from…

I'm using banana pi M1 plus and armbian legacy kernel. I was also able to get the data, but I want to deal with the error message so that I can prevent any future problem. It seems that the error is caused because the ttyS0 is sending some console messages. I've found some articles about getting rid of console output from ttyS0. Most of them said to modify …

I found an old bug report on the same version of wicd that is delivered with the legacy builds. Try to authenticate WPA for wifi, get bad password error. Repeated attempts to authenticate as many as 10 times before it is successful. It will finally succeed, therefore; the password is not bad. https://bugs.launchpad.net/wicd/+bug/1084380 A short summary includes, there seems to be a problem in the wpa_supplicant that causes it to occasionally take too long to return from an authentication request. wicd rev 1.7.2 is set to wait 35 seconds then times out and reports BAD PASSWORD, when it should have reported a timeout. The suggested fix was to allow user config for …

I have been playing around the Rock Pi S from radxa, and am stumbling at enabling the I2S output using a device tree overlay. (Building using current Armbain that uses @piter75's kernel branch) As per the data sheet and pinout, `i2s_8ch_0` should be broken out to the GPIO, but I don't seem to be getting far enabling it via the device tree. Any inputs? This is what I am playing around with atm, but `dmesg` doesn't show anything helpful atm, and no "I2S-Card" device turns up. Tried disabling the inbuilt audio codec ( connected to `i2s_8ch_2`), but still no dice. The closest example I could find was from `rk3308-ai-va-v10.dts`, that similarly enables the `i2s_8…

I know most of you probably don't want to hear any more about this chip, but I recently fixed quite a few long standing issues. I have built an image for BananaPi M3 using build and docker. I can install fine on 16GB cards, but anything larger is failing on the mmcblk0 partition resize and then is going into repeated fsck's and failed boots. I have built armbian debian stretch years before and had it installing and running fine on the BananaPi M3, on 256GB uSD Cards. I tried manually extending the partition from an imaged smaller one running parted followed by resize2fs and it had the same crashing on boot. The boots a bit too fast to ascertain where its crashing but it might be the uDev step. Can anyone offer any help with this

Two Questions: How do I force Armbian/build to rebuild the kernel ? - Is there a `./compiler.sh` flag ? And where does the kernel get cached ? - Is it cached online ? - is it cached on kernel, kernel version, and kernel config hash ? I am trying to get a proper handle on Armbian/build. BTW: There really needs to be a `kernel` tag on Armbian Forum's - `Create New Topic`.

Hi all, I'am looking at creating a single unified H3 DietPi image (currently using ARMbian build tools), rather than one for each board. Would allow us to support all H3 devices, reduce work load and simplify DietPi source code. Basically I need to know if its possible, and which unique files/configurations would need changing to achieve it. The end goal: The user would download the H3 image, modify it for their board (eg: copy and paste job on /boot), prior to powering on. Some questions: Is script.bin the only unique configuration across all H3 boards? Aside from any additional linux stuff, like hardware items (eg: + onboard BT/WiFi) Does /usr/lib/linux-u…
