  3. Hi all. How many years people can count on support of 32 bit mini PC? (OS + repository ) For example Orange Pi: Allwinner H2+ Quad-core Cortex-A7 Is it worth to buy 64 bit ARM ? I wanna use 1 device more than 10 years. I know about 2038 year. And I dont want to buy devices which support stops after 2 or 3 years. Please give me a link if this has been discussed. Thanks in advance.

Hello! I've just recently gotten a few (okay, several. I might have a problem here.) small single-board computers and I'm thoroughly in love with them. I also purchased a few small LCDs so I could make small independent thing that wouldn't require a huge display - perhaps even portable ones. While I do enjoy using the terminal for practically anything (give me lynx, rtv, byobu and the likes and I'm happy), there are certain advantages in a graphical user interface. But let's face it, the default UIs with modern window managers are... not exactly designed for small, low-res screens. With a 800x480 screen it's plausible to use just a normal WM and be rather fine…

I just pay attention. XFCE4 and third software eg chromium in debian 9 has more errors than in ubuntu 18.04. These are errors unrelated to the armbian. Quite simply, the debian developers probably do not test their packages as accurately as ubuntu. These are the dissapearing clocks XFCE panel, the lack of the chromium minimization button, the synaptic correction not working in the search option, and so on. They do not matter to you, but they are important when used by ordinary users in production. I see that you have a lot of images doing Debian 9. If you can already consider doing images ubuntu 18.04. Ubuntu is also faster than debian 9, really feel the difference.

Hello, I'm using Armbian (kernel version 5.0.21-sunxi) on an Olimex a13 SOM. I'm trying to implement wiegand interface on GPIO pins, that means that I have to fire interrupts on 50uS pulses. I solved my problem with writing down a driver capturing edge triggered inputs. So, with some readers (200uS pulses, 1.5ms between pulses) i can get all data, but with other readers (e.g. 100uS pulse, 500uS between pulses) I miss some interrupts (e.g. I have a wiegand42 reader and sometimes I get 41 interrupts, sometimes I get 39 or 36). I read that kernel fires new interrupt only when the previous interrupt function has returned, so I tested it with just addi…

For the moment I use an ewon router for remote communication and also read from the registers, tiger alarms and send emails. I know that Snap7 is working on ARM (e.g. cubietruck) with Siemens s7-1200 plc 's, so If someone is able write an application (at a logical cost) i would be interested to pay for it. 55. Hello, I'm trying to use Armbian with a Nanopi NEO Core (Allwinner H3) mounted on its Mini Shield. I was able to use the CAN controller MCP2518FD through SPI1 and CS1. Now I need to use, always on the same SPI1, the demo board TPM SLB 9670 TPM2.0 that I have already verified on a Raspberry Pi. I found the tpm_tis_spi Kernel module by compiling Armbian Bionic 5.4.37, but I was unable to locate the DTB overlay needed to set-up the following pins: SPI1 MOSI SPI1 MISO SPI1 CLK SPI1 CS IRQ (from SLB9670's demo board to Nanopi NEO Core) RESET (from Nanopi NEO Core to SLB9670's demo board) Can anyone help me? 57. On my journey to finding the best solution for cross SBC/cross language GPIO support I went through the same issues as Python by the C side author did it seems and landed on CFFI. This is faster than ctypes and seem more natural to program with. ctypesgen (the code generator) doen't really support Python 3, so I've hit a dead end there. It seems like JNA is still the best choice for Java bindings, so I'm sticking with that for now. In any event I threw together a button press app that uses CFFI and libgrpiod. I'll be updating my bindings project to support this soon. libgpiod version 1.1.devel Name: gpiochip1, label: 1f02c00.pinctrl, lines: 32 Press button…

Hi there, I'm trying to better understand GPIO (in general) and to use what's available on the OrangePi Zero with Armbian. For the time being, I managed to get an I2C screen to work. Now, I'm about to try InfraRed (before using SPI). I already have the OrangePi extension hat (somewhere in the office), but it won't be really handy, as the IR receiver could be a feet away from the board, so I thought of using a general purpose IR receiver. I know there is a module pack listed on OrangePi store, but I'd like to get just the IR part... Is there a schema somewhere that lists the kind of circuit and part I should get? I was not able for the time being to …

  64. Hi all, One question here. I am making an electronic design that was previously completed by a third party. It has a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W attached, an Ethernet controller module based on the ENC28J60, and an RJ45 connector. Here the Ethernet controller module is similar to the GeeekPi ENC28J60 Overlays HAT V1.02 board. Added: ENC28J60 's Main Specs ref: https://www.kukelec.com/products/ENC28J60-I--SS.html The issue is that the Raspberry Pi is unable to establish a network connection via Ethernet, as the ENC28J60 chip is not even recognized. I have checked the Raspberry Pi’s configuration, and it is correct and consistent with the chosen SPI pins. While …

Hello all, I'm doing a project which is essentially a lighted cube, that communicates status through different colors, where I get this ides from Basic Projects with Arduino (link removed). So when the light goes below a certain level it turns a certain color, when temp goes above a certain level it turns another color, etc. I'm figuring I'll probably need anywhere from 2 to 4 LEDs per color to get a nice intensity, and the colors would breathe, which is pretty easy with PWM on the arduino. What I'm thinking is that I'm going to leave all the colors in phase. So that the intensity ramp on red is the same as yellow, is the same as green, etc. That would requi…

It doesn't have any 3rd party dependencies and can easily be made to run on systems with no operating system or file system. This is part of my imaging library that I've been working on for more than 20 years. I'm slowly releasing parts of it as open-source. This code was sliced out of a much larger project which supports a whole bunch of image formats. https://github.com/bitbank2/gif_play Comments/feedback welcome.

I happend to connect my audio amplifier TPA3116 which worked fine. After which when i was switching some cables i happend to short the 12V supply. The smps immediately shut itself down. Now i removed the short and disconnect the audio amplifier from 12V supply. After this when i started the orange pi there was no more any indication. I wanted to know that if the 12V short let to an inrush current spike at the 5V power section. If any one on this forum is aware of fuses present on the orange pi board.

The question is: Is there a way to temporarily access the root filesystem from python script ? Of course, I can temporarily deactivate protection by ‘overlayroot-chroot’ command from terminal and make changes, but that's not what I mean. I have a web server application written in a flask framework. On one of its pages, users can set network parameters, e.g. IP, mask, dns . Is it possible at all, eg when the user accepts changes to disable protection, save changes to root filesystem and immediately enable protection ?

Rather than try to build this from scratch I used c-periphery and HawtJNI to generate the JNI wrappers. This saves a lot of hand coding and allows for easier synchronization with c-periphery changes moving forward. I believe this is the only userspace IO library that supports the new JDK 17 LTS (and still supports JDK 11). I had to fork HawtJNI to make it work with JDK 17. The only caveat is that ARM32 supports JDK 11. For some reason I cannot find a JDK 17 for ARM32 or information on why is was not supported. The insta…
