In various fields of modern technology and life, we often hear the word "LED". Whether it is lighting, display, or communication, LED has become an irreplaceable technology. So, what is an LED light-emitting diode, and how does it work?

Hi folks, I upgraded my server towards a bigger machine and unfortunately neither my parents nor brothers need a reliable fileserver. So this little machine goes on sale. - Helios64 with all trays + 2 SSD inserts - Fully assembled - Original packaging - Changed the two fans for Noctuas in order to get an even more silent server What's missing is the Battery for UPS. Mine was faulty and caused me some random reboots. Condition is mint / very good. System is stable with 5.15.93 running OMV6. If you would like pictures of the machine itself please drop me a note.

A Beelink X2 by default boots into Android with KODI and can be interrupted to instead boot into Armbian off an SD card. It might be quite advantageous to use a microSD card to jump start Armbian installed on a USB stick plugged in. Cost is one reason: the TF cards cost what the Beelink does, and lots of us have lots of premium USB sticks at less than half the price. This way it could be easier to experiment and even have a personal USB stick for friends and family. When it comes to family media this would help everyone. Myself I'd try various home clouds and server schemes, and whatever wins, just run that from the TF slot later on. Plus if you …

I'm looking for current and upcoming PXE bootable SBCs. I guess if it has uboot on a SPI chip (like ROCK64, PINE64, espressobin, opi r1 ...) this is already a good indicator that it will support PXE boot. But I'm not 100% sure if PXE will really work, it seems to be rarely used for such boards. The only board I know which does not have uboot but can boot via PXE is the rpi 3. Maybe there are other ones. Some other boards like the nanopi duo could boot via a SPI chip attached to the respective GPIO pins. Maybe someone here knows other boards with PXE boot support or has tested it already?

So, finally today I am getting around to pulling trigger on (2x) ODROID-XU4, I go to AmeriDroid (US supplier), put 2 of them in cart and go off looking for emmc modules, only to come across: https://ameridroid.com/collections/storage-emmc-and-microsd/products/emmc-5-1-module-blank Has anyone seen / tested these? My internet search says no, but I thought I would ask anyway. If not, I guess it's my turn now to be the guinea pig. I think I will maybe get one of these and one "regular" emmc...

Hi, i need a gpio to trigger a key stroke. I had an raspberry pi zero and this worked for setting up an gpio to trigger a key stroke. For some reason I am not able to port this to my orangepi 3 lts H6 board. I think there is some confusion because there are two pin-controller? Do I have to set the right one anywhere? Hi. Sorry if this is not the best place, I couldn't figure out where to put this. I wanted to download Cubieboard 2 image but all the links I get redirected to lead to 404 (all are linked to v5.24 images). I tried a few others, where Cubieboard (A10) has the same problem while Olimex Lime A10 images download fine. I didn't look at most other boards but I assume some other might be having the same problem.

Hi, No sure if this is the place to post this but here it goes. I use the Debian distro for my armbian deployments. Every time I deploy, and the system comes with systemd-resolved it gives me problems. I always have to remove it and use the /etc/resolv.conf file by it self. I would suggest removing this, it's not necessary or useful. -Cheers

Hi all, One question here. I am making an electronic design that was previously completed by a third party. It has a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W attached, an Ethernet controller module based on the ENC28J60, and an RJ45 connector. Here the Ethernet controller module is similar to the GeeekPi ENC28J60 Overlays HAT V1.02 board. Added: ENC28J60 's Main Specs ref: https://www.kukelec.com/products/ENC28J60-I--SS.html The issue is that the Raspberry Pi is unable to establish a network connection via Ethernet, as the ENC28J60 chip is not even recognized. I have checked the Raspberry Pi’s configuration, and it is correct and consistent with the chosen SPI pins. While …

There is an opensource wm that I'd like to use with Armbian. I have compiled and installed it, but would like to have it as a package. I have forked a repo that makes a .deb of this wm and built it with Shippable (so aarch64). I don't have any Debian mirror to host it... so... What is the standard way to build a package for Armbian? There are also other libraries/tools (like pacman, libarchive) that I have compiled (because I could not find them)... Thanks.

I'd really like to build a relationship with Armbian and Linaro... even a small one. Although most of the SBC manufactures we support aren't a member of Linaro... Armbian is a huge win for Arm as a whole, and impacts influencers who can choose to use ARM products in enterprise settings etc.

Hi Experts, I was using Armbian image (Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie_3.4.113.img) on orange pi zero without any issue for 3-4 weeks. Hi, my rpi 4 with 4GB ram is now on my desk but I cannot find armbian for it: looking at github build repo I do not see any file regarding raspberry pi in general. So... is anyone interested to help me to work on it? Is there an armbian interest in having a Raspberry PI build? Why historically I cannot see any sign of interested in those boards? Please... I know of all of their HW limitations... but they sell millions of boards each year... it is clear that some million people out there find them useful so we (as community) should to deliver an armbian build for this SBC. Any thought? Any starting point? *Ciao …

With Debian LTS, updates at least every week. Signatures don't work Stupid, childish pictures for idiots, called captchas are not shown security (!) checks can't be used. No administors can be reached because of github. Never. neve again answer this, I can't be reached in this forum. I can be reached by gleam@i2pmail.org being much more secure than all zhe securitythingies in this forum. Well, I do have a question armbianspecific: When will gnuit be made working for armbian? Oh and another one: Sinfo doesn't show the frequency of the CPU - to be made working. Why can't emails be sent to operators to be inserted in forum? Bye.

If you have time and a spare Allwinner H3-CPU system (like the Orange Pi One or PC (not PC2 because of H3 CPU) you could try the BASIC Engine NG for H3-PiComputers/Boards. Purpose: Discuss displays that at least someone has tested and/or use, particularly touchscreens/strange resolutions/sizes/alternative technologies (DSI, parallel TFT, SPI, etc) Goal: Have some kind of "This at least worked with this version at that time" resource. Over and over people post things like "I have a Waveshare <XX.YY.ZZ> and Armbian can't do what the vendor kernel that uses a crap kernel full of security holes and crusty drivers can". So, point them here and say: "By the power of Google, I beseech thee, search!" And I have some random stuff lying around.

Hello Everyone! I faced with some problems with csi driver on mainline kernel. The study of the Internet did not give any result. Probably someone already done the same things, and could answer on couple of my questions? My configuration: custom board based on A20 SoC (quite similar with Olimex Lime2), armbian-buster-desktop 20.05.0, Linux Kernel 5.4.41, and OV5640 CSI camera connected to CSI0 in parallel 8bit mode. My questions are: 1) Can anyone confirm that the sun4i_csi module in Mainline kernel works (with any CSI camera)? 2) Does the sun4i_csi module work with CSI1 port too? 3) If someone already run OV5640 via CSI on A20 SoC, what is the maximum fps can…

Hello guys and girls, I'm new around here, looking for a board to power my network storage needs. Up until now I've been running a 2TB USB3 Seagate Expansion connected to a ASUS AC68U router and things were just fine until free space started to be a problem. Recently I "inherited" a 2TB USB 2 Seagate Expansion which I was thinking of putting to good use. Some other 2.5" SATA HDD's might come my way in the future so I was thinking of taking a stone of the router and building a small NAS. The main usage will be SMB served sequential operations involving video files (daily) and occasional backups. The current numbers stay around 25-30 MB/s writ…

I was searching for certain hard-to-find chip (TDA1022 BBD) and found this site ( www.chimicron.com ) mentioned as a source. They have it in stock and at a pretty decent price. Most of their stuff I’ve seen seems reasonably priced, but I couldn’t find mentions/opinions of the site here or in a few other diy communities. I’m not sure the location of the company (either Hong Kong or China?), but everything is listed in dollars (but then again so is Tayda). Has anyone purchase through this site? Any issues with quality of the productions such as questionable authenticity? Are shipping/handling times reasonable? Thank you!

Do any of you ever conformal coat your SBC's with clear nail polish or polyurethane to protect it from moisture to prevent corrosion? I usually coat the boards in my solar lights and they last MUCH longer...usually they die within a few months..the wires or components rusting thru. or silicon coating... like this https://www.amazon.com/MG-Chemicals-Silicone-Modified-Conformal/dp/B07BSK5S7B or acrylic coating...like this https://www.amazon.com/MG-Chemicals-Acrylic-Lacquer-Conformal/dp/B01HPS13SM I have found the nail polish seems to work well...others find it flakes off

I have a graphical Java app (built in Processing) that runs on a HDMI display, and unsurprisingly it doesn't run well without a GPU. On RPi 3B+/Diet Pi I've got it up around 24 fps using KMS, and I'm happy with that performance, but now I'm porting it to the OPi so I'm kinda starting from scratch again. I am aware of the amazing work going on with Panfrost although I've had issues installing it on my board with Buster Desktop. In general Armbian on Orange Pi PC seems pretty great, amazing even. But I'm only getting about 1 frame every 5 seconds with my Java/Processing a…

Which Device should i go for ? My use case :- 1. 24x7 Torrent Downloader. 2. Jackett , Sonarr & Radarr. 3. Use is as headless server. 4. Plex - Stream on Fire 4K. 5. Must provide max Samba speed with windows around 90 Mb transfer rate. 6. Must Support Direct Play 4K HDR , I'm not too fussy about audio and can switch to AAC if there is any transcoding. But would like to know whether it can play TrueHD. 7. I already have C2 which i use for same purpose but it clearly goes into transcoding whenever i play any 4K HDR movie which is more than 25 Mb Bit rate. 8. Should be easily available in my country India The options I could think …

Hi, I've just got my fantastic XU4, and worked out that Armbian is amazing on it, thanks to everyone that put all this work in it's amazing So powerful is this little bad boy that I've started researching replacing my Windows Desktop but I need two 1440p monitors because of my eye problems. Anyway I've been looking at using USB3 Displaylink adaptors for this, am I barking up the wrong tree here? It looks like on paper the "qgeem usb3 "M7VC01" on Armbian" should do the trick, does anyone have two of these working? or even one? Cheers TIA Rich

I have a supported build host running, and successfully building and testing kernels for a few targets that I have examples of. I'm looking to extend my repertoire to building complete armbian images. I think I also want to use EXTERNAL and/or EXTERNAL_NEW to configure additional packages into the image. This has led me to this stanza: BUILD_MINIMAL (yes|no): set to “yes” to build bare CLI image suitable for application deployment. This option is not compatible with BUILD_DESKTOP=”yes” and BUILD_EXTERNAL=”yes” I can find no BUILD_EXTERNAL referenced elsewhere, should this be simply EXTERNAL ? or have I missed so…

Hi again, For a dedicated digital audio system (squeezebox) I would like to set up my Pine64 board with a preemptible kernel. I have been trying to use the procedure from https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ to build a patched 3.10.104 kernel using the RT patch from: https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/3.10/ patch-3.10.104-rt117 patch set The patches are applied successfully by the script, but break a number of things so the kernel doesn't compile. A number of the problems are linked to ip tunnelling, which I simply removed from the config as my system won't need them, but now I'm hitting: MO…

Hi guys. Ive seen this forum from time to time in search results. And now i finally registered to ask a question. Im looking for very cheap (under 80$), extreemely powersavvy pc with AES support. This machine will work in my home 24/7 as OpenVPN server only (no other stuff). I pay the bills myself so energy is my main concern. I already own 3 pc's , 2 monitors, 2 smartphones, and 3 network devices and this time this new machine needs to be almost unnoticable in my energy bills. At first I was thinking about Raspberry Pi 3 or RPi 3 + but i found that its bottleneck is gigabit NIC which is poorly implemented. In the other hand AFAIK ODROID C2 has si…

Total Armbian newbie here. Previous Dietpi user looking to acquire an Odroid N2+ for primarily serving music (Plex, Logitech Music Server perhaps). Wondering about the availability of support for routing audio through to USB DAC? In DietPi this was handled through alsamixer. How is it handled if at all with Armbian?

I am using STM32F103CBT7 for my design with HAL functions at a 72MHz system clock. SPI 1 is configurated as Master, 16-bit data width at 18 MBits/s. When sending data out, there is a data bit on the MOSI pin, but there is no Clock pulse on the SCK pin. I can't figure out what is wrong. Any suggestion?

Hello, I'm using Armbian (kernel version 5.0.21-sunxi) on an Olimex a13 SOM. I'm trying to implement wiegand interface on GPIO pins, that means that I have to fire interrupts on 50uS pulses. I solved my problem with writing down a driver capturing edge triggered inputs. So, with some readers (200uS pulses, 1.5ms between pulses) i can get all data, but with other readers (e.g. 100uS pulse, 500uS between pulses) I miss some interrupts (e.g. I have a wiegand42 reader and sometimes I get 41 interrupts, sometimes I get 39 or 36). I read that kernel fires new interrupt only when the previous interrupt function has returned, so I tested it with just addi…

Hello Everyone, I'm currently doing an assignment for one of my classes, and in it, I have to give examples, using Java syntax, of *static* and *dynamic binding*. I am lost while understanding the work process. I understand the basic concept, that static binding happens at compile time and dynamic binding happens at runtime, but I can't figure out how they actually work specifically. I found an example of static binding online that gives this example and running the program on interviewbit. public static void callEat(Animal animal) { System.out.println("Animal is eating"); } public static void callEat(Dog dog) { System.out.println("Dog is eating")…

Hello all, I'm relying quite heavily on RSS for my news feed. However I can only see two feeds on the armbian forum: New threads and posts. As you can imagine, I get quite a lot of pings for the post feed, and I'm not able to follow previous threads from the New threads feed. Is there more feeds or is it possible to add a feed per thread to the forum?

Newbie Using LinuxMint 21.3 I have been searching for answer to below question, and have been referred to UserSpace as it may have an answer. Referral from greg kh on Linusfoundation org. Question: Linux Mint 21.3 Using LibreCalc With USB RFID tag readers, (2 or more reader) most enter direct into open focus spreadsheet. However with no device number. Have same pid and vid. As the read from USB tag goes to the spreadsheet, can the device number eg 03 and the bus number eg 004 (either or both) be appended to the data read, into the spreadsheet. This would enable spreadsheet identify each reader and its location, to manipulate the tag …

I bought a Clearfog Base shortly after they came out and have been running Armbian on it since early on as my home router. In general this is a solid SBC for a home router and light weight server. 2 x gigabit copper NICs, and an SFP cage - nothing dangling off USB here m.2 SATA storage - about the best support for performant storage of any SBC I know of; m.2 SATA leaves eMMC and SD in the dust. It's not NVMe, but for this little box, it's great. 1GB of memory - this is enough to run a few containers for light weight services like caching DNS and DHCP USB console - rather than exposing a UART on a few GPIO pins, this includes an authentic FTDI chi…
