Hi everyone, thanks at first for all the efforts to maintain downloadable Armbian images. However, I am currently unable to execute a mainline Linux kernel, packaged as a .deb, that comes from the Armbian repositories. The current situation: Successfully tried Xenial default image (Kernel 3.14). Upgraded to next (Kernel 4.13.10.7), C2 board won't boot. Successfully tried Stretch next image (Kernel 4.13.5.7). Upgraded to next (Kernel 4.13.10.7), C2 board won't boot. Tried Stretch next nightly (Kernel 4.13.10.7), C2 board won't boot. Also tried the dev images from the beta repository, C2 board won't boot. (Besides I am aware of t…

hi all, as mainline kernel options for Odroid-C2 are still not ready (USB not recognising DAC unless externall HDD connected during boot) .. have just switched back to 'default' build. I noticed system to be much slower then usual .... esp. when involving any writes. SD-Card is Sandisk 16GB and is working very well in OdroidXU4 and NanoPi NEO. When copying a few 100kB file takes few seconds: time cp /usr/bin/ssh ~/ ; time sync real 0m0.012s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.010s real 0m2.982s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.010s I tried with 'dd' command to see how fast simple writes are going and got at best 200kB/sec .... Does anyone have suggest…

Hi, My first time attempting to use a nightly image in an attempt to get away from the legacy kernel. I installed Armbian_5.33.171007_Odroidc2_Debian_stretch_next_4.13.5.img on my C2, and it booted up just fine. Unfortunately, my primary use case for this hardware is a music streamer (and server), requires the ability to use Class 2 USB Audio, with (relatively) high-end USB DACs. I was unable to get the USB DAC to be recognized at all (did not show up in the ALSA devices listed by aplay -L, nor was it listed by lsusb.) I immediately reverted to the official Debian image running 3.14.79-odroidc2, and all was well again. As you can see below, my Te…

Hi, I'm currently considering an ODROID C2 to replace an Rpi3 as a combined headless tvheadend and mysql server, with GPIO control of a relay for a fan. It's upgrading to Gigabit LAN that I'm after, to avoid the occasional bottleneck to my NAS. Legacy sounds like it's working well enough on the C2, but the USB T2 tuners I'm using are only supported in kernel 3.19 or above... The C2 page suggests only legacy is available, but the package repository page suggests otherwise: linux-image-odroidc2 3.14.79 Amlogic S905 Hardkernel Odroid C2 linux-image-next-odroidc2 4.13.3 Amlogic S905 (meson64) Hardkernel Odroid C2 …

I have a NanoPi-K2 sitting in the dust since awhile. I decided to try some images from @balbes150, such as Armbian_5.32_S9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_server_20170820.img.xz or even some other such Armbian_5.27_S9xxx_Debian_jessie_4.13.0-next-20170731+_server.img.xz, but none of them is even starting to load u-boot ... It is only producing such output on debug serial : GXBB:BL1:08dafd:0a8993;FEAT:EDFC318C;POC:3;RCY:0;EMMC:800;NAND:81;SD:0;READ:0;CHK:F3;USB:8;LOOP:1;EMMC:800;NAND:81;SD:0;READ:0;CHK:F3;USB:8;LOOP:2;EMMC:800;NAND:81;SD:0;READ:0;CHK:F3;USB:8; I don't know much about Amlogic, what I'm missing ?

I am trying to follow various tutorials on full disk LUKS root encryption for Odroid C2 with a emmc. Every tutorial I have found makes use of a separate partition for boot. Something like /dev/sdx1 (vfat) 100Mb. Mostly raspi tutorials but a few others that are step by step instructions out there as well. The armbian.img file does not have a separate boot partition when I use dd to transfer to emmc or sdcard. Do I just make a vfat partition on /dev/mmcblk0 (the emmc) and copy the /boot folder over to /dev/mmcblk0p1, and run dd again to put the arbian.img on /dev/mmcblk0p2? Anybody know of a what I need to do to make that partition so I can try some…

Hello Igor, In past threads, it seems a bit argued about the zram module, but will not the zram module be enabled by default on other arm boards? I am using odroid-c2, but it is effective in hardkernel? It seems that it is becoming. Hello, I recently bought Odroid C2. Legacy Ubuntu Server image works great, but Ubuntu Server Next (mainline kernel) doesn't boot. SSH shows network error: connection timed out, screen is black. Is it something wrong with current image or my hardware? (Other OSes are working fine like legacy dekstop, DietPi). Power supply is official barrel DC jack 5V/2A.

Hi - I am trying to find out from the fora topics here as well the technical details page if the ODROID-C2 has an extension to the ARMv8 instruction set to improve the speed of applications, like openssl/openvpn, performing encryption and decryption. On the intel platforms this feature is known as AES-NI. Therefore is similar hardware on board and if so, which kernel module enables this feature please? Also when will " Armbian " stretch be available ( 17 July just like debian 9? ). Cheers

I can't get the ubuntu gui desktop to use the entire 2160p screen - it only uses 1/4 (1080p upper left rectangle.) The settings menu for display is locked to 1080p. I've searched and there are explanations as to how to set boot.ini to get 2160p (which works) but the ubuntu desktop won't use the full screen. What do I need to do to get a full screen GUI display? Thanks.

Tested on Odroid C2 system startup from the USB stick (via script s905_autoscript, I prefer to run existing images without any modification). If add the script to the boot.ini a few lines, you can run images from a USB drive. This can be useful if there is on eMMC or on a SD card configured with the system and felt the need to run temporarily another system (without overwriting the existing SD\eMMC media). For example, for temporary checks new images, when unknown , to like this system or not, or for testing settings\software-that-be not to destroy the already set up working system. Process start automatically if the connected USB drive and it has a script that starts the…

Before I was able to manually send CEC commands to my tv with cec-client. However I'm not sure how it works with Linux kernel CEC implementation. I know /dev/input0 is the node for CEC, I just have no idea what to do in this case. In case of cec-client, I would use the website cec-o-matic, but is there also a site like this for the kernel implementation of CEC? The reason I want this, is because I need to power on a tv with a remote using the odroid.

Hello All, how can I get hardware video acceleration for S905x on Debian/Armbian using Gstreamer? Once apon a time I had the Armbian system working (though chrome was missing). I have since upgraded to the kernel 3.14.79 and the console videomode seems to have extra text that I can't see at the bottom of the screen where the prompt is. That is, I can't see when I type, I only see after I hit return a couple of times and the result scrolls up. I have customized my videomode correctly,I think, and all this used to work, so what should I do? Unrelated but... From what I can tell, there seem to be a lot of issues with this hardware on Armbian for lots of people. Wondering if I should just give up on this piece of otherwise awesome hardware and move on with my…

Hi I'm wondering why chromium is missing from the ODroid C2 image when taking the non-desktop image and then adding the necessary packages to get a minimal X working? Planning to just build it from source, but wondering why it was missing from the core armbian distro? Is there a reason?

Hi! I downloaded 'Armbian_5.20_Odroidc1_Debian_jessie_3.10.103.7z' today, put it on a SD card and successfully booted and 'ssh'ed in it. The board - an old C1 - is running fine. Now I want to install fail2ban and mc, but with the original 'sources.list' for apt there's no way to to that via apt-get. Will I run into difficulties if I change the 'sources.list' to the normal Debian ones and make my installations, updates and upgrades from there? Frank

Hi, I am on my third attempt at running armbian on my C2. 16GB eMMC (purchased through Hardkernel) card. The image is; Armbian_5.20_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.79_desktop.img On the last two attempts I have followed the getting started guide and performed an update/upgrade after install; apt-get update apt-get upgrade All setup proceeded without issue. However, the C2 refused to restart with a steady blue light on the board (no heartbeat). This is my third attempt and so far I have not upgraded and have tested restart and shutdown a few times...all working well. Can you give me any advice on this issue? Should I wait for a new image?

Hello Forum, i am using a vdr headless server with 3 Technisat Skystar USB tuners for satellite television streaming. Before i used a raspberry pi 2 but because of limitations with its ethernet bandwith i went to odroid c2. System is now armbian with self compiled vdr with vnsi plugin, both out of git repo. System runs fine but after some hours (8h) a sporadic failure occurs and (USB?) system becomes unusable, To get the 3 dvb-s2 tuners running i increased the urb pool (USB request block) with kernel parameter "coherent_pool=6M" in boot.ini. I calculated that every of all 3 instances of driver needs about 512kB of USB buffer memory, without the option the first inst…

--------Preamble------------ Tried Armbian on Opi pc, and fell in love with it! It feels like the O.S. for me! Tried to turn the c2 into the ultimate night stand alarm clock, with 7" screen, micro keyboard and tiny mouse, with speakers built in a customized re-purposed case running ubuntu for beside the bed . alarm-clock-applet is a favorite app on Rpi, works great, I live by it basically. but the c2 will not play audio with it, gstreamer-ugly download and then it works, but it whacks out the RTC. alarm works great on Opi with Armbian but no RTC. The RTC is a big part of the situation, experimentally powering with solar. All that time and money wasted on a great concep…

Folks, I've flashed a 16GB eMMC 5.0 card with Armbian and it's booted up on a Rev 2 Odroid C2, but it only gets as far as the attached picture shows. I've left it overnight to see if it gets any better and it's still stalled. The blue LED ("disk" activity) is a steady 2-beat heartbeat which to me sounds like it's stuck trying to seek whatever happens next. I wanted to leave it overnight and also post here before attempting to fix via rebooting, then re-flashing if I have to. Anyone see this before? Sorry this is my first go at Armbian and it's on a brand new device - I come from the mx6 world.

When I start the OS for the first time, the cursor is not visible, either at the command line or in the nano editor. I'm running the HDMI output through a HDMI->VGA adapter, which is then fed into my KVM along with the mouse and keyboard. The monitor is capable of 1920x1200, and it all works fine except for the cursor not being visible. I've tried various escape codes, etc. Nano never displays a cursor. When I log in via SSH the cursor is plainly visible. I'm trying to configure the WiFi, which doesn't seem to want to work if the ethernet is connected, so I'm stuck at the tty terminal. Any suggestions?

I do have problems on my two Odroid C2 after "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade". It happens on a freshly installed Armbian_5.14_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.72 (on a 64GB eMMC) immediately after the first login (so at least in principle, i can't be the culprit, but who knows ): The following packages will be upgraded: linux-dtb-odroidc2 linux-headers-odroidc2 linux-image-odroidc2 linux-jessie-root-odroidc2 linux-libc-dev linux-u-boot-odroidc2-default tzdata Preparing to unpack .../linux-dtb-odroidc2_5.16_arm64.deb ... I am using: Armbian_5.14_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.71 I am a bit stumped....if I run with 3 network interfaces, everything is fine. If I add a fourth interface...the system locks up...even if the 3rd and 4th interface have no ip address. They just need to be live! I have tried 4 drastically different interfaces in case the device driver can't handle it. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?? THank you!

Hi folks, I flashed the Armbian Jessie server image to sd. Then I ran update and upgrade after the system booted. I installed xorg and MATE desktop. No problems anywhere. I did not install a display manager as I want to login from tty. I basically performed the exact same install I have done for 15 years(since Gnome2). And a problem I haven't seen in 10 years or more rears it's ugly head as I type in "startx". MATE desktop boots up and I have no mouse or keyboard... I hit ctrl-alt-del and I have keyboard in the shutdown prompt. lsmod meson_ir 2943 0 joydev 10384 0 spidev 5785 0 spi_gpio …

hi all . i think sd card is much shorter life time and restricted size ( 64G ~ 128G and big size is too expensive ). so as server , i like to use hard disk as root . for this purpose , nand-sata-install.sh is excellent ( but too complex for me to understand ) . i use nand-sata-install.sh on odroid-c2 armbian . and on working armbian , i run next script . ( the timing to attach sdb is about 10~15 second later after armbian booting ) . sda1 is cloned to sdb1 . clone-rsync-2-HDD-delete.bat ntpd -s date echo '--------------------' umount /mb1 mount /dev/sdb1 /mb1 df echo '--------------------' read X echo $X cd /mb1 mkdir -p bin etc home lib …

Hello. I tested Armbian Jessie with Odroid C1+ and encountered several issues, would like to know if they're known or if I've done something wrong. 1) Odroid C1+ gets no display if not booting into X11. Framebuffer text console is not present at all. This makes it impossible to do any kind of configuration if not connecting via SSH. 2) If connecting via SSH, updating the system and rebooting, it doesn't seem to boot anymore. The machine is not available for ping, and I can no longer connect to do any further configuration. 3) Issuing "reboot" over SSH seems not to reboot the board, instead power needs to be cycled manually. I'm tried server and desk…

I have been trying to build a C2 image with xenial and without including a desktop using the armbian build script. I have tried putting the toolchain in /opt/toolchains (like odroid's wiki states) and also in the build script's directory under toolchains. I've placed the proper export lines to each path in .profile & .bashrc but no matter how i go about this I always have the compile.sh script error out after "Cleaning [ linux-odroidc2/odroidc2-3.14.y ] I am using a VM that has gcc/g++ 4.9 installed and is running ubuntu xenial (would not using 14.04 have something to do with this?). /home/kyle/build/lib/common.sh: line 230: /home/kyle/build/toolchains/gcc…

Hi, I'm testing the Odroid C2 image (Armbian_5.10_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.67_desktop) on my C2. Flashing and verifying the image onto an emmc went fine. I made adjustments to the boot.ini ("setenv m "1280x1024p60hz"" and "setenv vout "dvi""). No problems creating a user and (first) booting into the gui. After a reboot I encounter problems with the gui resolution and colors: 1. most parts of a window is now black 2. no matter what I change in boot.ini, I don't get higher resolution then 1280x720 with black bars at the bottom and right https://picload.org/view/rgllllag/wp_20160518_001-kopie.jpg.html (pic had to be taken by cam since a screenshot doesn't show…

I recently did an apt-get update on an Odroid C2 which included the following: linux-dtb-odroidc2 linux-firmware-image-odroidc2 linux-headers-odroidc2 linux-image-odroidc2 linux-jessie-root-odroidc2 linux-u-boot-odroidc2-default. I figured it'd be all fine and dandy because it looks to just be an update to 3.14.67, versus the old 3.14.65. Installed and restarted without any apparent errors. Upon logging in, uname -r still reports 3.14.65-odroidc2 however. Files in /boot seem to all be labeled 3.14.67, but it's looking for all the kernel modules in /lib/modules/3.14.65-odroidc2, which is now basically an empty folder instead of /lib/modules/3.14.67-odroidc2. S…

I did a quick install of the desktop image for the ODROID C2. It sees no audio devices (HDMI - or any of the half dozen or so USB Audio devices I quickly tried). However, I have a app I wrote that builds a custom "kitchen sink" version of FFMPEG (everything is enabled). I built it on the C2 (to get a compile time), and noticed the sound did work from the app (and it sounded great). I wish I would have had more time to investigate why no audio devices are detected, and further, why I am able to play sound (only from the one app). Sorry. I am just trying to be helpful in saying "hey - the sound IS there - some users just may not be able to immediately get to…

Hi, i had a little problem with root login on C2. It gives a message about "/usr/local/bin/temper" file absent and goes to restart. Problem solved by installation "armhf" architecture (temper file is present but compiled for 32 bit). thank you very much for your work.
