Had some free time to toy around with Orange Pi Zero Used a image "Armbian_5.26_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.10.0.img" build with 'compile.sh BRANCH=dev BOARD=orangepizero KERNEL_ONLY=no PROGRESS_DISPLAY=plain RELEASE=xenial BUILD_DESKTOP=no' - which should not do anything special ? 1) First steps - run upgrades and normal tweaking (changed hostname, disabled ipv6, changed ntp, changed time-zone, generated correct locale) 2) Ensure that WLAN0 is working as client - using 'nmtui' created a new connection to my desktop WLAN router - disabled auto connect from eth0 - reboot with serial connection - run example speedtest-cli to see that the driver do wo…

Hi! Sorry if it is already covered but I didn't find a complete answer on the subject on the forum... So I have activated the uart3 overlay and enable CTS and RTS on an own-build Armbian 5.27 dev flavor for my NanoPi NEO Air. But I was unable to get the AP6212 Bluetooth working, I've try some infos/commands found elsewhere without any luck My question: Is Bluetooth on Nanopi NEO Air (or any H3 board with AP6212) still WIP on Armbian? Thanks. Emmanuel.

I'm trying to establish usb serial communication between an Orange Pi PC2 H5 running armbian and a samsung galaxy note 4. I'm configuring the micro USB port on the Orange Pi with libcomposite and opening up an acm port. On the android end I'm using a library by mik3y (https://github.com/mik3y/usb-serial-for-android) to establish the communication. The trouble that I'm running into getting Android drivers to support USB serial communication with the H5. I may just be just configuring the orange pi wrong. Here is the libcomposite setup script: #!/bin/bash/ modprobe libcomposite cd /sys/kernel/config/usb_gadget/ mkdir -p g1 cd g1 echo 0xa4ac > idProd…

Hi guys! I have some trouble with my Lime 2. My original setup: Armbian 5.38 +4.14.18-sunxi software installed: Pihole V3.0 with dnsmasq dhcp enabled. SD : a fresh Samsung Micro SDHC 32GB EVO power-supply : a 5V power-supply adaptor Current behaviour: After [1~4] days the my board disapear of my network. With dnsmasq dhcp server disabled, there are no problème. My guess: their are some troubles between the dhcp and Armbian. Indeed in tried to setup a isc-dhcp-server to remplace the Pihole dhcp without success. (Same behaviour) You could see my search on Pihole forum here …

Hi, I have an Orange PI Lite on to which I'd like to install the latest Armbian release. I had Armbian Xenial installed on the Pi Lite quite some time ago for test purposes and put it to one side while I got hardware for my Pi Lite set up for its intended use. I wiped the SD card and I was ready to download, install and set up the latest Armbian Xenial on my Orange Pi Lite when I notice the sub-heading "desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y". I'm not sure if this description appeared previously but my question is does this mean that this version, i.e. "Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y", although currently supported is no longer being updated and will theref…

Hello, I was tweaking the dvfs table on my OrangePI PC to find the maximum efficiency sweet spot. I noticed that no way I change the dvfs table, the maximum frequency is always 1296 Mhz. This is the very simple dvfs table I'm using now: [dvfs_table] pmuic_type = 2 extremity_freq = 1200000000 max_freq = 1200000000 min_freq = 480000000 LV_count = 2 LV1_freq = 1200000000 LV1_volt = 1240 LV2_freq = 480000000 LV2_volt = 980 but this is the result of an excerpt cpufreq-info command for cpu0: driver: cpufreq-sunxi CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0 1 2 3 CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 0 1 2 3 maximum transition…

Hi, Since latest update just a few days ago (Linux bananapi 4.5.5-sunxi) , the bananpi keeps telling me this: [ 5 updates to install: apt-get upgrade] . When i try to upgrade there arent anything to upgrade. In did apt-get update and apt-get upgrade and nothing to upgrade. I manually execute /etc/update-motd/40-updates and its true that it says that there are 5 updates. So there must be something there that its not chaning. Any tips on this? EDIT: ok i just fixed this by manually editing the file /var/cache/apt/archives/updates.number and setting it to 0 but i think this should be automatic and it wasn't working for some reason. AFAIK, from last year, there are some new driver for AXP209/202 PMU for mainline kernel. One of the main new features that i really like is custom sampling frequency compared to the original driver for linux kernel 3.4 (i just remember the interval are 2 seconds). I want to use AXP209 PMU for power/energy profiling and consumption study of some SBC such as Banana Pi/Pro and some other Allwinner based SBC as comparison. The question is How i want to know current sampling frequency from PMU and how to change the frequency? (25, 50, 100 or 200Hz) What is the reasonable/best practice to write the captured power consumption value (with timestamp) into some logf…

Hi everybody, I work on my Orange Pi Plus 2 since a few days now. I've installed Armbian with linux Kernel 3.4 (Debian Jessie) on eMMC. One of my main objectives is to bond the WiFi and the Ethernet interfaces in one interface called bond0 (I've seen many examples on how to do this on the Internet). My configuration seems to be good (it's based on the default interfaces.bonding file, just changed it with my WiFi parameters). When I restart networking service, none of my interfaces get up. I've tried to update/upgrade my stystem, reinstall ifenslave. I've also checked module list with lsmod, it returns a lot of names, but not "bonding" module. …

I originally installed Armbian_5.38_Orangepizeroplus_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.14 I got NTP with PPS up and running on UART2 with PPS on PA3 I have a working backup image of this. Hello armbian forum, I have an Orange PI Win plus with armbian desktop legacy kernel 3.10.y on it. I also have a extension board from my Raspberry 1 which I want to use. The Problem is that the extension board needs the pins 8 & 10 for UART communication. I read already that UART(2) over pin 8 & 10 is used for Bluetooth? I don't need Bluetooth and want to disable it to free up the pins. Uart1 Pin 38 & 40 and Uart3 Pin 11 & 13 are working finde. How can I make this? With overlays or editing the .dts files?

I'm trying to disable IPv6 on my NanoPi Neo2. Initially I used the option in armbian-config -> Network -> IPv6 (toggle). I can confirm that IPv6 is disabled by running 'ip a' and no longer seeing any IPv6 addresses. are the 1-wire modules built into legacy kernel ( 3.4.xx ) with debian jesse on an Olimex A20 LIME2 ( also the -SOM-4GB ) ? Probably after this commit: - https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/commit/70231cf8ae641650ec8601124db33b5b186a285b This should be why my USB dac doesn't work anymore after an update of the system. Hi, I have probably trivial question related to GPIO on Orange Pi Zero. So - I have a switch there connected ot 3.3V and then to GPIO (pin 12 on Zero). What I want to do is just to read GPIO state. When button pressed it goes to high state - normally. On RaspberryPi and Odroid C1 that works fine just using basic code with wiringpi2 or eventually wiringpi. So I tried the same on Zero compiling wiring for H3/H2. My code is basic in Python: import time import wiringpi import pyA20 as GPIO cykl = 1 wiringpi.wiringPiSetupGpio #or wiringPiSetup() wiringpi.pinMode(1,0) while cykl == 1 : do_call = wiringpi.digitalRead(1) if do_call: print 'pressed' time.s…

Hello, I run Debian/Jessie on a bananapi pro. The board suddenly stopped working completely. When I plug the power supply, the red led shows up (not blinking) and nothing more, no sign of activity at all, like on screen (hdmi). It is very surprising as it has been running very well for two years now, with a 5V/3A power supply and a sandisk SD card (like those advised). I checked that the sd card runs well on my laptop, the filesystem was not broken and no sign of corruption so far, especially in the /boot directory, no changes made lastly in this directory : latest modification dater are a few months ago. …

I've solved the board's overheating problems by installing a 30 x 30 x 7 mm Heatsink, plus a 50mm USB Powered Centrifugal Blower Fan. At long last the board runs happily at temperatures typically up to about 40 degrees C at light to medium CPU loads, and at around 65 degrees C when the CPU is pushed to 100% utilisation. With this cooling solution, the board has been reliably running PiHole for about two months now. The 50mm fan and the big heat sink are not a very …

hi, i'm trying to run docker on an orange pi +2E, using armbian xenial well, using default legacy kernel, i can see /dev/spi* and /dev/i2c* and the like BUT i can't have docker-ce running with this kernel... so i swapped to the DEV kernel, now i've setup docker-ce but lost completely the hw support... which is the best setup to have both, so i can pass local hw devices to docker containers and have access to gpio and serial? thanks

I have bought a USB3 hub: "Bus 004 Device 002: ID 05e3:0612 Genesys Logic, Inc. By attaching atleast two usb devices in the hub USB3 somehow gets into full speed mode, one of them has to be USB2 device. I have managed to get with all devices I have ATM about 2000Gbs including iperf in both directions with rtl8153, hdparm -t on two usb2 memory sticks …

The topic is no longer new, but I have not found the reason and its solution! If you turn off the power (just pull out the wire) then you can get a non-working system. As I noticed, the files opened at the time of launch are broken. And some files such as /etc/boot/armbianEnv.txt in general, they are recorded with some kind of garbage!!! Because of this, your settings fly off! For example, I use ttys1 and this option is registered armbianEnv.txt , but after the power loss, there is just terrible garbage in this file, as if the memory dump fell there!!! For example, I still use dotnet, so it also breaks down and does not start anymore!! When y…

Hello, about a month ago I got MangoPi QM-Quad - quite nice board, but with small support. Hardware specification: https://mangopi.org/mqquad Review: https://bret.dk/initial-mangopi-mq-quad-comparison/ I needed a raspberry pi zero board with usb-c with both host and otg ports and external wifi antenna - so after some consideration I want with Mango-Pi QM-Quad. Sadly after some work with available distributions I finally give up with trying to compile / build everything I needed and moved to getting Armbian to run on the board. Thankfully board is almost identical with orangepi-zero2 - so modification with edge kernel only required m…

Hello! I've built my own sbc using the Allwinner H3 chip, and I'm looking to get a custom armbian image running on it. I've already successfully compiled an image by adding a new config to u-boot and armbian-build, and a device tree to the linux kernel. Now I'm looking to get the WiFi working, but I can't seem to find where I can change its pin definitions. I'm using the AP6212: the SDIO pins are connected to SDC1 (aka mmc1) like every other board, but the WL_REG_ON (aka WL-PMU-EN) and WL_HOST_WAKE (aka WL-WAKE-AP) pins are connected to GPIO pins different from all other boards, so I'll need to change their pin assignments in the kernel manually. B…

Hi @Igor you should consider changing imagetool when you ship your image files since the Suse image tool is quite broken on Windows platforms 8 or higher since its often just gives a blank non function interface that crashes upon pressing buttons. Perhaps Rufus would be a better alternative

I'm currently playing with a Banana Pi M1 + and don't seem to be able to get the GPIO to work. I *think* that I have correctly mapped the IO pins that I am using through the schematic and fex file to find the corrisponding GPIO number for debian. When playing around in /sys/class/gpio I am able to export the GPIO pin that I'm looking for and change it's properties, direction, value etc. However these changes don't seem to appear on the physical IO pins. I noticed that some of the pins that I'm using are shared by UART 2, so I have disabled that in the FEX file but still no luck. I have a feeling that this is probably going to be DTB related, however I'm a …

I have a variety of boards - an OrangePiPlus, a hummingboard, a RaspberryPi, a RaspberryPi2 that I can test - as well as a bunch of other boards that are not supported. I am an embedded linux developer so I have reasonable competence with building kernels, writing drivers, scripting .... I would be interested in helping with testing and fixing things atleast with those boards that I have available to me. But I could use some clues. Is there a developers guide to Armbian ? Something that lays out how the build process works ? Or does one just jump in ? As an example it does not appear that install-nand-state is working for either the legacy or vanila…

I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyways. Is there any command line software out there (e.g., VLC) that I could put onto an Armbian Server Edition version that would show a movie out on the HDMI port? I have a NanoPi M1 that has a HDMI port. But I'm assuming that without all the Desktop video driver, it isn't possible to do this on a headless server.

Hello. Is there a way of resetting the USB subsystem in Armbian for Orange Pi Zero? I don't want to unplug and plug a USB device or reboot the system just to reset the plugged USB devices. The above is doable on a PC running Ubuntu with something like this: $: cd /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd $: ls 0000:00:14.0 bind module new_id remove_id uevent unbind $: echo -n "0000:00:14.0" > unbind $: echo -n "0000:00:14.0" > bind Wondering if something similar (I don't really care if the solution is not similar) is doable on Armbian for OPIZ. Cheers!

Hi everyone, I got a problem with my beloved Armbian. I switched form a (SD-killing) Pi1 to a OrangePi. Everything runs fine except my Busware SCC (a RF interface for Homematic home automation). The module sits on the extension header and uses Pins 8 and 10 for the UART as well as pins 11 for reset and pin 12 for the bootloader. For the device to work normaly, pin 11 (GPIO17 on the rpi) has to be set high, else the device will stay in reset. Pin 12 I just left as it was on the rpi, the manual says I'm running ARMBIAN 5.36 with kernel 4.13.16-sunxi. If I understood it correct, pin 11 should be GPIO1. To set it high, I use the following code in r…

I'am running the latest Stretch server version on a PiOne (Linux 4.14.65-sunxi). I think that something is going wrong with the logrotate. The rotation is done in /var/log.hdd directory (see also the scripts in /etc/logrotate.d/). But the original file of each is in /var/log directory and is not "cleared" after the rename, because it is not renamed. So, if Zram copies /var/log directory to the /var/log.hdd directory, the original file in /var/log with old logging and included new logging is written to the /var/log.hdd directory. In the next logrotate this growing file is compressed. In this situation/in my case the compressed files contains all the loggings and no…

Hello, I'm sort of an "educated noob" on Linux, meaning I understand about 1/2 of the postings in forums like this one. And I seem to have a problem. The "shell" it pro-ports to drop into is mythical, I assume because no keyboard driver has eve…

Recently I tested armbian stretch for orange pi lite2. If there is not other task except system, there work fine. But if there are some high cpu tasks, such as unzip, the system load will go high, and not go to lower level when task done. When the system load is higher than 4, the response of the system is laggy, when go higher, the system will go no response. I use uptime to test the system load, when boot, the 1min load will be at 3.xx and go down slowly. When no task, the load will lower than 0.5.

Hi, I compiled the newest version of u-boot.
