I just got 4 NanoPi Duos v1.1 and the OTG port functions (unlike v1.0)! This is with the FriendlyElec image. I was wondering should I compare the FriendlyElec's sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dtb to the one on Armbian? I already tried messing with Armbian's sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dtb by changing usb@01c19000 status = "okay" and adding dr_mode = "host". I'm not sure I can just drop in the dtb? Any way, I'll see what I can figure out. I'm excited the OTG port works now for more than just power since that saves you from buying the Mini Shield if you have a simple project that just needs a USB drive or camera.

I tried to build the armbian on my Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 to work on my astro project. I'm planning to connect the board to the camera module, which I'd assemble with a small scope (120mm focal length), and with a small TFT screen to make it a electronic finder scope. When I build and install the stretch server I've encounter several instability. There were some random crashes and finally I was able to get it stable. I'd like to share it here in case anyone is encountering the same. Here's the info: First I was experiencing random crashes and the exception message shows there's a problem at the high resolution timer. I simply disable the hr timer …

It seems that the latest Nano Pi Neo Air Boards and the relatively new Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 both use a modified version of the AP6212 WiFi+Bluetooth module, which is physically labelled as AP6212A. This new module apparently requires different drivers to operate. From my own experience, I was unable to get the internal WiFi module to work on a Nano Pi Neo Air (with AP6212A) using any of the Armbian distributions. However, I was able to get WiFi to work on that board with the Friendly Arm distribution at from https://www.mediafire.com/folder/sr5d0qpz774cs/NanoPi-NEO_Air#oc15bwqbuxgxe. I just received a second Nano Pi Neo Air from a different vendor, and this …

I'am running a PiOne with 4.14.14 Stretch. I have installed acpid and give the command acpi_listen When pussing the button in Stretch and I didn't see any logging. With the old kernel in 5.38 Jessie on the same PiOne I saw button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 In the output of dtc /boot/dtb/sun8i-h3-orangepi-one.dtb I saw key_pins@0 { pins = "PL3"; function = "gpio_in"; linux, phandle = <0x39>; phandle = <0x39>; }; Means gpio_in defined as an input? Is the button function not yet implemented in 4.14.14? Or is something going wrong?

I have tried to run the h3consumption monitor program (https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/h3consumption) in an up to date Armbian 5.38 stable Debian Stretch 4.14.14 on a PiOne. After the command 'sudo h3consumption -h' and other commands it gives 'This tool requires legacy kernel on H3 devices. Exiting.' Is there any solution for this? Can I change the 3.4.*) to 3.4.*|4.14.*) in the script without any problems? https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/180112d72d31ec3629896f272a1d59ef3d83dc8d/packages/bsp/h3consumption#L123 # check platform and kernel case $(uname -r) in 3.4.*) HARDWARE=$(awk '/Hardw…

Hi there, I'm trying to run luma.examples using an SSD1322 display via an SPI interface. I think I got the wiring right but the software is responding with errors. The app is expecting D/C and RESET parameter via a GPIO pin numbers to control the display.. I'm not sure how the Nano PI NEO Air physical pins are mapped to a GPIO port under Armbian. Where can I get a list of mappings for the physical pins to the GPIO pin numbers? How does this work? Is this an OS specific thing? Thanks in advance. Hello all! I'm running armbian on a cubietrack wich I use for transmission and samba purposes. Hi, I just realized that my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian now shows a completely wrong temperature reading using cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp This has not been the case until I updated to Armbian 5.38 by apt upgrade some days ago. Before that the reading was plausible. Not sure which exact version I was running before. I have a cpu temp monitoring script running and just realized that it now gets garbage. At the moment I get a reading of -12°C when outside temp is about 0°C (the OrangePi is in a water proof box outside on my roof). Not a serious problem, but seems to be a bug, so would be nice if it could be addressed :-) . …

Hi, Firstly my thanks to the team for an outstanding job on ARMbian. I'm relatively new to this particular flavour, using it on my Orange Pi H2+ board with a few different builds under my belt now. Recently I have been having some troubles getting Pi-hole to work on the little Orange Pi board. Twice I have had it up and running perfectly, with full DNS and DHCP control of my home network, accommodating about 10 devices. However after about 6 - 12 hours of operation, they ceased to function. First time around I was not home to witness it, but when I returned later, the Allwinner chip was running pretty warm (around 60 degrees C core temp) and non-responsive, even to s…

The pcduino discussions appear to be centred here and the A10 appears to be a cutdown A20 so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area. I've been playing with an old pcduino2 and have got the latest mainline server version of Armbian installed on it. Very impressive. However, it appears to have only a single I2C bus and no SPI devices. It looks like there should be a sun4i-a10-spi-spidev.dts file somewhere or else some way to build the appropriate kernel modules but I have been unable to find this. I understand that this is a deprecated board but I should (hopefully) be able to perform any kernel builds required and am more than happy to feed the resul…

Hi, I need to use uart (for a gps receiver) and i2c (for some sensors) for my project via the gpio pins. Fortunately i2c is enabled in the images by default. Hello. I just wanted to let you know about a possible bug I have found in the kernel installation script. I was using my OPi+2e with the default kernel, and today I installed next to test it, using armbian-config. Everything went fine, and seemed very stable overall (I didn'd use it for more than two or three hours, though). But then I wanted to revert to default, so I used armbian-config again. When I rebooted, the board started the u-boot sequence, but it got stuck on "Starting kernel". No other messages after that. I tried several times, with the same results. Since I have no logs, the only info I can give you is that I have an external USB HDD …

Hi there, I noticed there are up to date builds for Pine64 for Debian and also up to date ones for Ubuntu for the Orange Pi Win. But none for Debian and Orange Pi Win, newest ones are from November probably with legacy kernel? Is this just some kind of build script hiccup? If not, do you have an idea about a timeframe for new Debian builds? (I'd rather not use Ubuntu if it's just a few days/weeks I'd have to wait for Debian.)

Hi all, I'm trying to understand how to make an infrared tx/rx module working. Hello! It's about installing Armbian on OPi+ 2E without a reliable sdcard and with no proper card reader - U-Boot goes to sdcard, Armbian image goes to USB dong then installed to eMMC. I did this once but can't remember what device was the sdcard in Android, if anybody knows it would be great to share. It mounts as /dev/block/vold/179:1, but writing (dd) u-boot.bin to 179:0 or 179 doesn't result in a bootable sdcard (the OPi boots from eMMC, and as far as I remember if it has bootable sdcard inserted it should boot from it no matter what is on the eMMC). There was also an issue with the nand-sata-install - I had to remove some lines as it wouldn't allow writing …

Well, the title is self explanatory. I am trying the new stable release for the Orange PI win from armbian (thank you guys!) but when booting for the first time in headless mode via SSH through Ethernet cable it gets stuck at "Enter new UNIX password". I put the new password and nothing happens. If I unplug the cable to force the SSH server to close the connection and then I plug it back again, the password is kept the old one (default 1234) and the problem repeats. After some tests I finally got to change the password, but it gets stuck after, or even before sometimes if I reboot. It seems that the SSH tunnel is simply not stable. I should mention that the configura…

Hi you all, I have flashed a good, tested and reliable 32GB SD card with the last build for Orange PI Win (armbian 5.38) and when first updating, it stucks in "waiting for headers" for too long. I have read that this is caused in Linux systems because one installs third party software whose repos take long to answer, but since here it is a first and fresh update, with nothing but armbian inside, I ask myself if it is normal or there is a problem with the servers at this moment. Only apt-get update ca take up to 1h 30 min, so it is really an annoying issue. Is anyone out there experiencing the same problem (and hopefully with a solution) ?? Thank you guys!…

Hi, I met another weird issue: I tried to setup a static IP address for my NanoPi NEO, which should actually bundle the NanoPI NEO's GigE MAC address and the static IP. Whenever I reboot the NanoPI NEO, its GigE MAC address changes, and an random IP address is automatically allocated, via DHCP. I mean, the previous MAC address did bundle to the static IP address that I allocated. However, there always exists a 2nd HOST name NanoPINEO which has a NEW MAC address and is allocated to a NEW IP address automatically. I'm not sure if this is an issue of the latest kernel I've just built? Or it is an issue of the FriendlyARM BSP for AllWinner H3 ? I posted …

Hi. When you install RPi monitor on a board using legacy 3.4 kernel (in my case, Orange Pi Plus2e), you can notice an error message in the "Memory" section of the web interface, as well as a very weird big number of used memory. That is caused because it tries to read some value from /proc/meminfo (named "MemAvailable") that wasn't implemented in that version of the kernel (I think it was implemented in 3.14, if I remember well). So I have made a custom version of the memory module, which gets the value for used and available memory using the same algorythm as HTOP, which has been many years around being very useful. I am attaching the file "memory_legacy…

I have an ADC and DAC board built for Raspberry Pi which has 2 slaves on the SPI bus, requiring ce0 and ce1. This works fine on the Raspberry pi 3, which installs devices /dev/spidev0.0 and also /dev/spidev/0.1, to access each slave. On the OPi PC I can access slave 0, but not slave 1. In /dev on the Opi there is only a single spidev device: /dev/spidev0.0 and no spidev0.1 device. I have modified the script.bin (I am using Armbian legacy OS - Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop) by editing the .fex (and making a new script.bin) to add a spi_cs1 = port:PC07<3><default><default><default> line. But adding this prevents any spide…

Hello. I have an OPi +2e, with Ubuntu 16.04 and legacy kernel 3.4.113-sun8i. I tried to install Nextcloud via a Snap package, but got this error: error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Run configure hook of "nextcloud" snap if present (run hook "configure": cannot open mount namespace of the init process (O_PATH): No such file or directory) I googled for the message, and found out that there are some bits needed in the kernel, for Snap to work (see https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/nextcloud-snap-install/2674/3 ). Has anybody got this to work? Maybe with mainline kernel?

I am using an OPi+ 2e as an OMV box. Tonight I updated to 5.38 (4.14.15 kernel). After the update, the network connection drops between the router and the OPi at random intervals. At least once in a hour, sometimes within 10 minutes. Tried restarting the device and the router, to no avail.

Hi, i am actually a bit confused. I thought that a NanoPi Neo V1.0! which is set to 1200Mhz Clockspeed, enabled USB and enabled GPU should burn a additonal 1A (fast) Fuse while doing a 100% Stresstest. It doesn't. Just get more speed and heat... I added an additional Wlan Stick for more powerconsumption... but this doesn't help either. In my opinion and the always stated "on 912Mhz" max 2 Watts... it should kill the 1A on 1200Mhz no? 5V 2W = 1A ... I do a small cluster here and i want to save the GND Rail for shortage to save the other nodes if one Node is melted down and cause shortage. I thought a 1A Fuse has to burn up... but reality is kicking my …

Hi Everyone. I intend to use this sbc with a hdmi to lcd controller (not yet arrived). I noticed the predefined resolutions do not include 1366x768. I tested on a smart tv and I with the closest resolution of 1360x768, there was a vertical purple line on the left. I could probably live with the slightly lower resolution, however if the purple line appears on my final setup, how do I remove this or is there anyway to run the full 1366x768? I have tried 1280x720 in windows and it blurs the text so that seems to be out of the questions for me. Regards, Rauli

I'm running a dockerized VDR server on the BPi, still on bananian. Every time I installed armbian, I had to discover that video playback on remote devices started to stutter. Without knowing about the details, my guess is that this is owed to the fact that the mainline kernel build does not feature hw video decoding. (Though I'm not sure whether bananian had it actually.) Unfortunately I cannot use the legacy kernel build, as docker is not supported on that platform. Is there any chance to kind of enable hw video acceleration on the mainline build? I saw some posts here and there in the forum on that topic, but none seemed really having solved it d…

I am currently trying to upgrade my kernel from 3.4 to 4.14 and it is working quite well for my needs. But i have a problem i have not found a solution for, i can not set the PE00-11 pins as gpios. Acutally i cant set or configure them at all. I am using the /sys/class... export and writing via echo direction and value. For all other GPIOs it works perfectly fine exept for those 12 (and the IR0-pins PB3 and PB4, those are also not accessible). I tried really a lot already: stripping down the kernel to only the most essential modules, deactivating almost everything in the dts file, using different images... but in essence, as soon as i c…

Hello! I use OS armbian (2.9) on cubietruck board. I decided to upgrade to version 5.31 and have problems. Previously, parameters of hardware and interfaces SoC chip changed in the script.bin file. The bin2fex and fex2bin commands can edit these parameters. I do not understand where and what to edit (https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Allwinner_overlays/) For example, how can I change the capacity of a connected battery? Previously it was the parameter pmu_battery_cap in the [pmu_para] section, its default value is 2100 I need to change it to 5000. Please help!

Hello, I recently bought an Orange PI Lite and wanted to connect it to my WiFi (WPA2 - Personnal) to run a CUPS server. So I started pinging everything and started noticing weird stuff : After a reboot Nothing can ping the orange pi unless he pinged them first. I've got a fresh Orange Pi PC Plus 2 with the relevant Armbian loaded onto a new card. It seems to output just fine to HDMI on my workbench at home, using a relatively new monitor and a direct HDMI cable, but when I try other monitors I get inconsistent results. One is a Quimat 7-inch display that just shows a white backlight when connected to the OPi. However that display has issues with other boards so I'm not entirely worried about it. But the other display is a fairly modern ViewSonic monitor that exhibits a more confusing behavior. The monitor only has DVI/VGA so I'm connecting to it through a passive HDMI-DVI adapter. Hello everyone, brand new user of BananaPi and armbian, just today and I've spent quite a few hours trying to make the basic setup for WiFi work with no success. Initially I used the server version I downloaded from the main armbian page and then the "nmtui-connect" command. What happens is that it keeps asking me for the password (definitelly correct) and never accepts it. Looking at the NetworkManager logs while this is happening shows me this J Spoiler an 17 22:25:28 bananapim2plus NetworkManager[581]: <info> [1516227928.9166] Config: added 'ssid' value 'The Portal of Infinite Realities' Jan 17 22:25:28 bananapim2pl…

Hello again, I downloaded the latest Orange Pi Win Ubuntu server – legacy kernel and installed it. It works fine, but when I connect from my win10 notebook via ssh with “putty” or “Windows power shell” the connections stops after the input of the right password. If the Password is wrong i have to re type it. Service ssh status: pam_unix(sshd:sessions): session opened for user root (uid=0) So it looks like the ssh on my “OPI win” works, but on putty I have only a blinking cursor. When I connect ssh via my android phone it works, without problems. Had anyone ells this problem? greeting…

I have Orange Pi Zero and use mailine kernel v4.11.12 as Jessie Debian. I have seen in specification OPI zero memory SDRAM 256/512MB DDR3 (shared with GPU) because I don't use GPU memory how to split memory between RAM and GPU like in Raspberry Pi I can do this in raspbian-config and set 16 Mb for GPU. Is it possible on ARMBian ???
